Nokia C3-01 - VoIP via UMTS

Hi,
how can I make VoIP-calls via a 3G connection?
Thank you for your help!

C3-01 guide, http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_C3-01_UG_en.pdf talks only about WiFi. Same thing is visible in the VoIP technical documentation for it, http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/VoIP_support_in_Nokia_devices#Support_in_Series_40_devices

  • Is Voip over Umts disabled?

I have read in the Nokia support page that this phone support Voip. This is not the truth. My last phone was Nokia n95 8gb and whit this phone i can make a a voip call over wifi or over umts (simply configuring the built-in client, select the codec with voip settings and call). I have done the same with this 5630 but the voip built-in client doesn't work with umts. I can call over wifi but when i select a umts connection the message is always the same : sorry no connection available. This is false! The signal 3.5g says that the phone is connecting and then connected. I can surf with web browser (also opera mini) with my umts. Where is the problem? Probably Nokia have voip over umts disabled?
Another problem... when i make a videocall and i want use the first camera the software phone crash! During the call i select "use the other camera": the image remain 3 second suspended and then the phone restart...
    What can i do?

I have solved my problem!!! :-) I noticed that nokia e52 is the same as mine!!!
There are a few steps to enable VOIP calling on the E52:
    1. Download and install SIP VoIP 3.x Settingshttp://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Settin...
    2. Create New SIP account in Ctrl Panel>Settings>Connection>SIP settings
    3. Activate AWCDMA to allow VoIP calls over 3G network (not just WiFi)
    a. Control Panels>Net Settings>Advanced VoIP settings>
    b. select service you created in step 2 – eg pennytel
    c. Scroll to "AWCDMA" and set it to "on"
    4. Choose a contact from the normal Contacts menu, right scroll and choose Make Internet Call

  • VoIP via Homezone

    Hi there!
What would you say if you could make calls from one cell phone to another for as little as 5 cts. PER HOUR?
Although this is feasible, there are a few things you need to consider in order to call at such fabulously low rates:
    - Phone calls must be from land line to land line, national or international
    - You need to set up a (call-by-call) account with a VoIP provider (e.g. voipstunt, voipcheap, ...)
    - You need to be inside or near your home (i.e. your homezone’s address) to start a call
    - You need to be on-line to initiate the call
How can you make it happen?
You would need a mobile contract that includes a land line phone number (e.g. o2 genion, vodafone Zuhause / @ home, ...); the person you want to call would need either a similar contract or a working land line phone.
As, depending on the provider, your homezone can be as large as 2 sq km, the recipient of the call does not necessarily have to be at home, close-by can be good enough.
Once the call has been initiated and the connection is set up, you are free to go wherever you want.
These homezone features are set up to stay at homezone settings even if you leave the perimeter during the call.
You may also call mobile phones, yet those calls will be charged – besides the 5 cts. per call/hour – at 10 cts. to 20 cts. per minute.
Nevertheless, these charges might still be lower than what you would usually pay by just using your mobile phone.
Although you need to prepay the provider, the minimum payment is 10 Euros (net) and they are valid for up to four months, after which you can still use your payment for calls, yet regular rates will apply.
    Any questions?
    Cheerio!

    Dear Jainthomaspala,
    thank you for your message.
Alas, with the 7360 it seems to be a different story, as my older 1600 has the same option as you indicate.
Still, when activating this option in my new 7360, it will only display the call time once I hang up the receiver...
    Cheers!

  • Unable to connect Nokia 6230i to PC via DKU-2

When I tries to connect Nokia 6230i to PC via DKU-2 using Nokia PC Suite, a prompt occurs on phone "Use phone as storage device". On accepting, deactivating message appears on phone and again it prompts for storage device and phone doesn't connects to PC.
Phone connects to PC via Bluetooth correctly.

    Hi,
I can not find any other reason for your problem....one thing what you could try to do is set that Shell value from register again (maybe it includes something what I can not see in log file)
    So try this:
    1. Click Start menu, Run and type: Regedit and then OK.
    2. Open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
    3. Select name Shell, click Menu and Modify.
    4. Clear exist value and write there Explorer.exe again.

  • Would't be able to connect nokia mobile with ipad2 via bluetooth

    Dear Freinds,
I just bought an Ipad2 32 GB but unfortunately wouldn't be able to operate it properly.
Problem 1 - Trying to tranfer some data from my Nokia C7 to Ipad2 via bluetooth but every time it shows error "UNABLE TO CONNECT"
Problem 2 - When i tried to download free apps from apple store through my Ipad it always ask me for my credit card detail.
Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

1, bluetooth on the iPad is aimed at devices such as keyboards and headphones and isn't for transferring files. The bluetooth profiles that are supported by the iPad (and iOS devices in general) are listed on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
2, there are instructions on this page for setting up an iTunes account without giving a credit card : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 . If you want to use an iTunes account that you've already created then you won't be charged for free apps even if you enter a credit card - you may get a temporary holding charge (to validate that the card is current and active) but that should be refunded within a few days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Anyone using Nokia =vr20 and VoIP successfully?

    Coz I'm not!
If I try and connect to my configured WiFi AP using the Internet Tel app (and Connect to service) it says "Connecting to default via MyWifi" followed almost immediately by "Unable to connect to the connection network".
If I go to a contact and select Options, Internet Call (as an alternative way of connecting) "Requesting Registration" followed by a message "Phone not registered with blah blah... Register now?" followed by "Registering to service" and a nice "Unable to Register to service" message.
Both ways of connecting return very quickly and the WiFi symbol comes up only BRIEFLY (but does come up).
However, and this is where it gets really interesting, if I first make a connection to MyWifi (say by using the front screen wifi app, opening a browser and then backgrounding the browser) both methods work fine. So it's definitely not my SIP settings but something to do with usuage of the WiFi connection.
Any help *GREATLY* appreciated since I've tried everything and have done loads of Googling but to no avail. It all worked fine in v12. Since 20 onwards I've had to go through the hassle of bringing the WiFi connection up first before making VoIP calls (as a workaround) but as you can imagine it's very tedious!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

My access point uses my own DNS server. I'm not using DHCP but I don't have a problem with the Access Point. Or in fact the SIP (since if I bring the connection up first via a browser it works fine). It just seems to be the combination of bringing up the WiFi connection when trying to register the SIP that it fails. The WiFi connectivity icon flashes up briefly but you almost immediately get an error.
There is no port forwarding on the firewall although I can't see how this would help since this would only be incoming traffic (I assume you mean DNAT here). There are no restrictions on outbound traffic and also I don't use NAT since I can use a public address for my access point configuration (lucky me).
I guess I'll just have to wait till Nokia fix it. Boo.

  • Nokia E52 choppy VoIP due to WLAN interruptions an...

I love my Nokia E52, but one of the main reasons I bought it (the combination of WiFi Wireless Lan support and fully integrated Voice over IP client) is not usable due to very laggy, unsteady WLAN connection (while having perfect signal strength - E52 shows 100% (same room)).
Because of this I get choppy VoIP (cracks and interruptions up to several words in my VoIP conversations).
    My E52:
    Software version: 031.012
    Modell: E52-1
    Type: RM-469
This is not a problem of the VoIP Client, audio-codec, or SIP provider/internet connection.
It is the Wireless Lan connection between my E52 and my Router. I tried 3 different access points, with and without wireless encryption, 802.11b (1M...11M data-rate) and 802.11g - problem always the same.
I can track it down by pinging my E52 (idle without any programs running) from my Linux box:
192.168.0.100 is the IP of my E52 assigned by DHCP.
1.) 64byte pings, once per second:
    PING 192.168.0.100 (192.168.0.100) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=1 ttl=69 time=6.36 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=2 ttl=69 time=57.9 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=3 ttl=69 time=80.9 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=4 ttl=69 time=203 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=5 ttl=69 time=128 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=6 ttl=69 time=50.0 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=8 ttl=69 time=324 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=9 ttl=69 time=79.7 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=10 ttl=69 time=37.5 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=11 ttl=69 time=60.0 ms
64byte pings using a good wireless 802.11g connection should be around 1ms and constant!!
It's not because of bandwith limit of E52 wlan/cpu, because the higher ping times stay the same, even if I increase ping-packet-size 150x:
2.)10000byte pings (150x times bigger packages!), once per second [still ping times look quite similar]:
    PING 192.168.0.100 (192.168.0.100) 10000(10028) bytes of data.
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=1 ttl=69 time=175 ms
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=2 ttl=69 time=89.8 ms
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=3 ttl=69 time=115 ms
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=4 ttl=69 time=234 ms
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=5 ttl=69 time=153 ms
    10008 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=6 ttl=69 time=83.7 ms
3.) Small 64byte pings, but now ten pings per second:
Now it gets even more strange:
    # ping 192.168.0.100 -i 0.1
    PING 192.168.0.100 (192.168.0.100) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=1 ttl=69 time=200 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=2 ttl=69 time=95.0 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.100: icmp_seq=3 ttl=69 time=2.25 ms

Note: My Linux Ping Command doesn't say something like "Request timed out." for lost packets (like Windows Ping does). So if there is a jump from icmp_seq=81 to icmp_seq=150 it is because everything in between got lost.
You see, in 3.) it has the slow pings once in a while and in between almost normally fast pings, but suddenly a long lag of 6-7sec (this is deadly for voip) and then the circle repeats.
Is my E52 wlan chip defect, or is this some kind of Power-Management system? How can I turn it off?
I don't need a fast wlan connection on my E52. 1MBit/s is more than enough. But it has to be steady, without lags.
    Ideas, anybody? Please!

Well, it has nothing to do with the VoIP service itself for sure. As razvan_t has already noted earlier this problem affect all network services like internet radio.
It behaves exactly as E52affair described in the very first post. If I ping the phone through my home LAN using ping with normal settings, i.e. 1 packet per second nothing much wrong happens. It finishes with some 1% packet loss. But when I increase the ping frequency up to 10 packets/s the same test ends with terrible >80% packet loss as you can see below. And the following pattern can be observed during this test: 10 packets goes through well then some 60-70 packets is lost and it repeats again and again. Lags in VoIP audio stream correspond to the lags in ping. The wifi conditions are excellent, phone is located some 2 meters far from the router´s wifi antenna.
I tried watch some video on Youtube. The video stream was prefetched in jumps appearing with the same frequency as lags in fast ping were observed during the test.
Before I found this thread I obviously thought it was a VoIP problem. Therefore I tried various VoIP settings, different codecs, nothing has helped. Now it is clear why.
I even did a phone hard reset. It did not help neither.
Because I observe almost the same lags in VoIP even when the phone is connected using the packet data through the GSM network, I suppose the problem is not limited to wifi connection only. But I cannot confirm this theory because I´m not able to ping the phone throughout the GSM data network.

  • Java samples needed for both PC and Nokia HP to communicate via bluetooth

Hi Are there any java samples i need to test both PC and HP.
I have Nokia 6021 that runs java program. I ask for simple samples that
Java program in HP can send bits of data and the java program in PC reads and evaluates the result. For eg, i input numbers 5 and 6 into HP
then send them over via BT. Upon reception, PC receives input and adds them and shows the result.
Do you have any? Would appreciate your generous samples.
    regards
    Clement

    Hi,
I think that your BlueSoleil (IVT) BT stack version is not supported, see this:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=114
So you have to update your BlueSoleil BT stack.
Also you can try to use Microsoft BT (if Microsoft BT supports your BT hardware)...if you want to try, see this:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=11292&query.id=203856

  • Nokia C3 - viewing html via e-mail / Hotmail

    Deer users,
I wondered if there is an option for the Nokia C3 to view HTML via e-mail, for example Hotmail.
Does someone knows how to configure this in the phone?
    Regards,

Looks like there is a common theme there. It is probably just that the original message has been corrupted somehow. Some mail clients try harder to understand corrupted data than others. I can't really tell from your original post. With mail messages, you really need to have the original data, not copied and pasted and not forwarded. If you have such a mail message, save it as raw source, put it into a zip file, and e-mail it to me. I can tell if it is an Apple Mail problem or a MS problem. If it is an Apple problem, I can file a detailed bug report on it. You can find an e-mail address for me by Googling my nickname.

  • Nokia 1200 firmware update via NSU

Lets say if i already have Nokia 1200 data cable..
Can i update its firmware via NSU?
    Can NSU detect the phone?
Message Edited by mono_demon on 27-May-2008 07:59 AM

No, the 1200 is too basic to be supported by the NSU. None of the budget 1xxx or 2xxx models can be updated in this way.
It can only be updated at a nokia care point.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
    UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.
