Nokia C3: No night mode for camera

I just got the nokia C3 and just realize that it does not have a flash for night pictures or even dark rooms, no memory card and no usb cable quite unlike my N72 that came with everything. What do i do, i have always loved nokia and the phones i have bought have been nokia. I have never been this dissappointed in a nokia phone!

Could you provide source for the price you're referring to? A quick google search shows that right now a new, independent E72 costs about $350, while a new, independent C3 goes for about $140. That should say something about what should you expect.
The E series features are marketed for enterprise users, while the C series are focused on consumers. While the C3-00 is a well-built QWERTY handset, it is an entry-level phone and marketed as such. It runs the older S40 OS, and lacks many advanced features.
Phones in the E series (and the more advanced C-series phones) run Symbian and provide business-oriented features and more customization options.
These differences are usually mentioned in the reviews and in Nokia's marketing material.
It's sad to hear that the phone you bought does not meet your expectations, but you should learn about the product you intend to buy before the purchase.

Day/Night mode for Smartband

Hi,
Would it be possible to have a different auto night mode for weekends? The app doesn't monitor my sleep properly when I stay up late and sleep in on my days off.
I know I can turn night/day on and off but the current instructions for the device are pretty bad and I am not sure how to use it.

To toggle between Day/Night mode is a long press of the button - until you feel the vibration.
I turned off the autosleep mode - because I don't go to sleep at the same time every night. I turn to Night mode when I go to sleep, but I have had times when I forgot to switch back to Day mode when I wake up. Ended up with no data tracked which is extremely annoying. The band is able to tell that I'm no longer in "light" or "deep" sleep, so why can't it switch back to Day mode if it can detect continuous activity, ie walking?

Is there an add-on, extension, or other add-on that would completely turn the entire Thunderbird interface into a consistent night mode (i.e., light or white color on black or dark background)? In particular, is there something that would convert panes, menus, etc. into a nocturnal mode?

No AUTOFOCUS in night mode in N95

hi everybody, i updated my n95 to v2o fw and now there is no autofocus in night mode in camera. it's working fine in other modes but night mode, can anybody HELP? thanks!!

Yes no auto-focus is present in the videomode.

Night mode in Maps (iOS 7)?

I did some testing.. First, the night mode is automatic only. There's no turning it on or off. There seems to be several different ways for it to work or not work..
I'm not sure if time of day has anything to do with it, but the light sensor definitely does..
Regular map mode does not appear to work in night mode
Hybrid and satellite view do work in night mode. For me, sitting in my house, it's 7:35 PM and if I cover the light sensor the screen goes into night mode only in satellite view or hybrid (while stationary)
The navigation in the regular map view (non-sat/hybrid) will also go into night mode. This is not always consistent though.
I looked up an address using Yelp, then had it open the Maps app and I got directions. Night mode did NOT work. This was about 6:30 PM, but definitely pitch black outside and no lights on in the car.
I later used a bookmark and got directions back using the bookmark. Night mode Worked.
I tried repeating my directions from Yelp, but after trying several times, the night mode kicked in every time, however it seems to have a delayed start. It doesn't darken until the nav voice is almost done talking.

Nokia C7 - POWER saving SCHEDULE for night period

Hello NOKIA!
I have a suggestion for "the biggest (and most awaited!) update ".... PR 2.0 for C7 & N8.
We know that all phones with touch screen are big consumers of power and the battery life greatly decreases.
I do not use the phone at night.
It can be very useful to set Power Saving to start automatically at night, for example at 23.00 and was to expire at 7.00 (between 23.00 - 7.00).

E71X: wrong mode for media transfer, Nokia Ovi Pla...

I know this subject has been touched on before, but I'm frustrated! I connect my e71x to the USB port with the cable, and select PC Suite mode. I go into Nokia PC Suite, and then select Explore Ovi Music. That invokes the Nokia Ovi Player, which tells me "your Nokia device is connected in the wrong mode for music transfer. To connect in the right mode, try unplugging and reconnecting your device and ... choose one of the following: Media Player, Printing & Media, Media Transfer". It also says to click on a "connect" button, but that doesn't do anything.
So I unplug and reconnect my E71x, which I have configured to prompt me on connection. I select Media Transfer per the above message. Then I get the information: "connecting your device: 1) Connect your mobile or MTP-compatible device to your PC using a compatible USB cable, 2) on the device, select the mode that allows you to transfer media and, if prompted, select OK".
It appears that Nokia Ovi Player does not respond to either mode PC Suite or Media Transfer. I tried reinstalling, and the version of Nokia Ovi Player I have is 2.0.1106.00. The version of Nokia PC Suite is 7.1.40.1 - both should be pretty current! Any ideas?

I have just tried to use the Ovi Player for the first time and encountered the same problems as above on my 6500 Slide. I had issues with the Ovi Suite (which I recently uninstalled) only to find that the Nokia Suite had adopted 'Ovi Player' for transferring music. Why? It worked perfectly! I've read a few posts on both features, and, it seems that the new programmes aren't going down too well with users! Are Nokia going to iron out these problems, and, how did they release this new software with so many inherent faults? Anyone out there any solutions as to how I can transfer music from my PC (Windows Vista home premium) to my mobile in the meantime.

Why nokia uses very cheap plastic for N79?

I bought a Nokia N79 for 350 € one month ago. Although my ultimate care and even I used a special protecting case for the phone, there were little scratches all over the front plastic cover. I wonder why nokia used very cheap plastic on the front cover for a very expensive mobile phone?

Volume increases in 10 steps and last step, from 90 to 100% is like someone that suddenly turn a 1000w speaker right in your ear. :-) This is not normal and it was so easy to fix before to sell this phone. Maybe no-one tryed the phone before to sell it.
Album Art search is an automatic procedure from iTunes to Winamp. I don't have to use pcsuite, don't have to download from phone. Btw it doesn't appear, better than an error.
Let me say, about the clock alarm. I'm a doctor. To have something complete to make quick photos to wounds, procedures and so on or make videos, I thought this could be a great phone. I used the phone alarm of this phone only two times and never use it again. I lost a morning appointment and to awake for the night turn. Why do I have to use another piece of software when the included one should function? It is like to harvest an arbor because it doesn't give you fruits without trying to think why and look for a solution. Did I give too much water? Is it infested by some bugs?
Symbian UIQ, rest in piece, decided to use Opera Mini as defalt browser. That is a cure. If Symbian OS doen't want to use it has to solve its bugs quickly or send an advice through that stupid My Nokia service saying that browsing experience will not be so easy.
You buy a phone because you don't want a Ferrari. You buy a phone for the specifications write on the box. In Florence, you can't try the phone before, sorry man. You buy for radio and radio doesn't work, you buy for camera and shoot button doesn't do auto-focus, (now repaired), you buy for a simple mp3 player and you are going to lose audition, you buy for a phone and thanks God it works . I respect your point of view about S60, I am excited about wonderful programs to watch divx - by the way tv-out is choppy, ugly and something to not try if you have an n79; I thought it could be wonderful for my presentation... let's forget it - to do sport and to buy some useful cheap, read the humour, map for Nokia Maps. No, really I know this is a great software, I love open source and hope that will arrive more and better apps when it will be open, but you buy a phone for what's on. Not for what it could do in future with bug fixes. Tomorrow I will sell it and maybe never see that bug fixed.
An example: Apple. IMHO is getting worst that before. I'm not an Apple fan but I have to admit that it knows how to work with software and hardware. It prefeared not to put mms and other functions on its iphone because...
...who knows. The point is: less software to fix means better experience for end-user and quality of firmware releases. With three, or something similar, releases Apple covered many of what the users cryed for in less than two years. Remember, every basic function was at best. Nokia sold n79 and 5800 quite in the same time. Firmware release of n79 was ridicolous, 14 pages of fw after four months? What did you sell it for Nokia? Wait four months more. 5800 is an interesting phone, different from the iphone, full of great features and great bugs.
At the end, I respect your idea of evolution of a phone and its getting better day by day, while I need that a phone is ready to go since first start even with some bug, because noone has no bug, but not ridicolous bugs. That's why Nokia pi22ed me off with this n79.

Shot Wedding in Night Mode, oops! How to correct

Shot my niece's wedding using Sony DV camcorder with the night mode switch accidentally left on. Everyone/everything has a green hue.
Is there anyway using iMovie to correct for this?

You could certainly get rid of the green hue by applying the Black & White or Sepia Tone effect for a more pleasing look.
You might also try boosting the contrast a little with the Brightness & Contrast effect.
As far as getting any color back, I don't think you can. As far as I know it wasn't recorded.
What the Nightshot mode does (which is very cool in the right circumstances) is to enable the camera's CCD image sensor to "see" near infrared light (basically heat) and to create a visible image from what is otherwise invisible to the human eye.

my iphone went into recovery mode for some reason and is unable to be restored. it wont turn on and when plugged into a charger it shows a usb and itunes symbol. so i plugged it into my mac and connected to itunes then itunes said it has detected a phone in recovery mode and needs to be restored. so it goes through the restoration process for a couple minutes or so then stops and says itunes is unable to restore because an unknown error occurred (2001) or (2006) and other times i try it says its unable to restore because itunes cant detect the device... any ideas how to fix this?

Errors 2000-2009 (from Apple support): If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.

2006: Use a different USB cable. Possibly the one that came with your iPhone.

Dark Mode for the finder/safari/mail/etc

I just upgraded to Yosemite and I am very pleased to see the addition of dark mode for the menu and dock. This such a basic feature that I've needed since I started using macs ten years ago.
I often use my macbook and ios devices in low light environments for work. Venues, theaters, bars, etc. Even on the lowest brightness the screen is distracting to others and compromises my night vision, not to mention causes additional eye strain. More and more these days, IOS and OS X devices are used by artists on stage and by sound and lighting engineers off stage. It's a major bummer when you open your finder and and a blinding white light hits you.
For dark mode to be useful it needs to address more than just the dock and menu bar. Ideally, it would invert colors entirely EXCEPT for images, videos, flash, etc. I would settle for this only being available in the finder and safari. I'm aware that I can invert all colors already, but its annoying that I have to view pictures and everything else in negative as well.
It's a bit frustrating that this was an option in the last version of windows I used ten years ago but has been impossible in OS X. I have every confidence that Apple can make this possible, and I'd really appreciate it.

Nokia N8 Shooting Night time Videos Question.

How do you turn on the flash for shooting video because i cant shoot anything at night cuz its too dark. the only light that turns on is the little red one. Thanks

You can't. The flash is for photo's only and cannot be used as a torch or video light. Xenon flashes do give far better results for photography but they can't be constantly on like LED flashes can. I've had good results filming in night mode but that mode does need some light.
If you are filming in very low light or complete darkness you will need to use a separate light source, such as a torch.

Is it going to be sold by Nokia? And when is it coming out?

Actually, the page mentions that link as a source for a different case not pictured.

So whatever case Noreve.com decides to make, it won't be the one pictured in the article.
And looking at the other cases that Noreve has designed, I don't think theirs will look anything like the Nokia-branded one that is pictured.

Nokia e71: Email Message playback for MFE?

I noticed last week that my e71 had a really cool feature. If I press and hold the the top left blue (menu) button a voice comes on and starts telling me about all the email messages (subject line) in my default Nokia POP Email Account.
Does anyone know how to do this for MFE? I have multiple email accounts setup on the phone so it would be nice to do this for all of them. Also, is there any thing else that can be done in this mode? For example, use voice commands to delete or read the email (not just the subject).

Go to emai.nokia.com, here you can reactivate your Nokia Messaging Account. As for the memory full, make sure you have the latest firmware, or you can contact Nokia Care who are very capable of helping you trouble shoot this.
