Not sure whether you are using Ovi Maps v3.04 or nokia Maps v3.06 upon your C5-03 with link for the latter here: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_s60_5....
They do use different map data sets with earlier version 00.01.29.100 and later 00.02.50.103
Suggest that go to Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning methods - temporarily disable all except Integrated GPS, launch maps application and go outside away from tall buildings for 20 - 30 minutes until locks on to position.
Nokia Suite upon PC would tell you whether you have latest maps application and map data: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/nokia-suite/

I fully agree with your assessment. And I don't like to be treated like a monkey.
Nokia is showing such a low respect and care to their customers, especially in the Middle East. They became maybe too big to care for their customers. Apparently they have forgotten that what made them so big is precisely those customers they are ignoring today. It is a pity.
I am looking for a solution for the same problem since 9 month ow: updating middle east maps on my Nokia 500 Auto Navigation. thout any positive result.
What is making this case looking even worst is the promises I got from my Nokia reseller that maps WILL be updated on a regula basis!!! But till today, total blackout from our friends at Nokia.
And the funny thing : while typing this note, a popup appeared on my screen about Customer Feedback on the qualiity of Nokia support. They are really incredible those guys.

  • Nokia 500 auto navigation will not work

I have a nokia 500 auto navigation and it will not show maps or it start to boot and freezup and will not work Help!

I had the same problem a couple of months after activating the gps.
I think my problem came up after I had loaded some songs and video onto the SD card.
I used the DVD to restore the maps etc. Be careful with that. The software to run the video/music is not included on the restore DVD.
I had to do the restore multiple times. Finally, I found an update on the Nokia website and did the update. DON'T DO THAT = my bluetooth has now stopped working. Bluetooth says it's on and you can turn it off, however, there's no change. It says on, but no devices can connect to the gps anymore.
Frustrated with Nokia? YES. I have had it sent back, but since I bought it on ebay, forget about that.

  • Nokia 500 Auto Navigator -- Navigation License

I've now searched, everywhere, and send various calls and e-mails to Nokia with NO response, hope somebody can help:
This device is NOT a phone, it is the Nokia 500 Auto Navigator GPS. Please see on the Nokia web site link http://europe.nokia.com/A4577607 .
The devise shows the map, current location, and tracks the route traveled, but does not navigate. As soon as I try to select a route, I shows an error on the GPS screen " NO VALID LICENSE FOUND FOR THIS ROUTE". On the device it shows certain profiles and the one I believe to be the Navigation License called NAVI RSA and NAVY EUROPE are locked. I need to know how to either unlock this, or if I need to purchase a navigation license, how do I do this on this GPS devise manufactured and supplied by NOKIA. Again this device is NOT a phone, so I do not have the options of the menus to purchase extra licenses.
Please assist ASAP, and please do not again refer me back to distibutor Autopage where I purchased the devise, as they can not supply me with any information, and told me several times to contact NOKIA, as they should provide this support.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

Why won't you try to online purchase the rest of the navigation you need? I mean, it's possible for the general phone navigation, why it won't for navigations too??

  • Nokia 5800 Car Navigation

I have a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with Ovi maps installed in it. It used to work well with street by street voice navigation until recently I checked for an update and downloaded the latest one. Now that I'm trying to use car navigation again it says, "Car navigation cannot start at this location." I tried deleting Cities folder in E: memory card and reinstalled maps and voice guidance but it is still the same. What should I do?

I got the same problem Here. I am from Poland.
Two days ago I became an owner of Nokia 500 and I started playing with it. So I updated Nokia Suite to latest version (via updates), updated firmware to latest and installed latest maps.
Then, when I wanted to start navigating, the app says "you cannot start navigation from this location" (or sth similiar).
I tried deleting cities and qf - no success. I use integrated gps-positioning only.
Now, the funny thing - I also have Nokia 5230. It's with latest updates (also considering maps). Navigation in it worked like charm, but I thought that the maps I downloaded for 500 were messed up, so I uninstalled maps from 5230, cleared cities and qf and installed maps again. AND NOW I HAVE NO WORKING NAVIGATION in any phone
Except the "navigation cannot start..." there's also problem that I can set the route from point a to point b on the map anymore.
Tomorrow I will really, really need that Nav.
    Please help.

  • Nokia N95 GPS Navigation

    Dear All,
I am James and recently bought a Nokia N95. It comes with GPS Navigation but not sure how it works. Looked in the user manual but still not idea of how to work it. I have played around with it and downloaded Google Maps but find it difficult to get a reception.
I want to know how to download maps onto it, what connection is needed and how it actually works?
    Any ideas?
    regards
    James

    Hi,
I'm just back from the US were i used the GPS a good bit. like most GPS's, Navigation on the N95 told me to turn right then left on on straight roads with intersections (watch out for this, always look at the map before turning as you'll see that the route line is straight on screen), sent me down bizarre side roads, never went the same route to a place as it did going back (very strange), but other that that was very handy.
The one major bug I'd like to report is in v20 of the firmware (can't say for others versions), despite disabling network communication in the settings, the phone would still startup my GPRS data pack connection while roaming. Even when I set it to use Wi-Fi, it still made a connection over GPRS. I work out it cost me about a €10 in unnecessary data charges. Easy test to see if you get the same problem: Startup Maps and say no to data usage, exit or Press Menu, Tools, Log. You should see that a Data pack connection was initiated at the same time you started the Maps App. The only way around this I found was to set the phone to offline mode. But you might as well buy a proper GPS if this is the only solution.
    Good luck!
I had exactly the same problem. Once activated, network mode could not be turned off and it cost me around $50 in a day and a half.
As soon as I tried to shut it down in Maps>Options, it either shut down maps or rebooted my phone.
Keep network support off, is my recommendation.
To cure the problem, I had to reload my firmware and software...everything but settings. If you reload settings, you reload the problem.
I spend hours today doing just that. Settings are probably the least important part of my phone history so it wasn't too big of a deal and the effort was totally worth it to save me mega cash while using maps.

  • Nokia 330 Auto Navigation

Has nobody out there got a 330 Auto Navigation system?
I lost the car lighter end of my in-car charger over six months ago. Despite many emails to the Nokia help centre and to Nokia shops, nobody could help me. Not even supply me with a new one!!
Now I am informed that Nokia do not supply this charger any more. It is a DC3 12/24V input, 6V 2A output.
    No help from Nokia then!!
Can anyone help me. Even a mains charger would help. If my sat nav has not been charged for some months will it lose it's data?
    Cheers

  • Nokia N82 MObile Navigation

I recently purchased the N82 and am having trouble using the GPS the reception is there and everything but it says I have no internet connection which I don't and also Don't know how to fix and there are no maps? is there something I am meant to do to have the GPS work? I had the nokia 6110 and that automatically worked and I had no problems with it... N82 is very different though.
If any-One can let me know what I am meant to do that would be great Thanks!

    Hi nayd01
Firstly Nokia Maps currently utilizes an active connection for two purposes, to allow use of Assisted GPS feature which reduces time to establish position and to download greater map detail if a "search" is made. Please note that application will function without connection albeit in a reduced capacity. It will not work inside building very well unless Assisted GPS feature is utilized.
Secondly if you don't have an active connection you need to have downloaded regional maps to your microSD unless they were included in the package (UK SIM free versions have this) using Nokia Maploader application on your PC.
However "active connection" could be either via WLAN or Network to download sufficient data to show your position on map.
You make a very valid point in that if Nokia wish to sell licenses for "Voice navigation and other services" they do need to ensure that application works "straight out of the box"

  • Nokia 5310 Temperamental Navigation Key

I have had a Nokia 5310 Music Xpress phone for about a month and overall I love it and think its a great phone! Not only can I listen to all the music I want on it but also read any pdf ebook I want thanks to some great Java utilitys. (Apologies for the mini review but I really am enamored with this mobile :-)
But recently its developed an annoying problem. When I intially start using the phone the navigation key (the one in the middle) want function when I press it down or right! I usually have to be pressing buttons for a few minutes or so before these directions start to work.
I'm therefore assuming its not a hardware fault but anyone know what could be the matter and more importantly how I can fixs it?
    Thanks.

its ok mate, i understand the fear when your phone doesn't work properly or suddenly stops working eep . anyways, since there is no other surefire way to clear the slate the phone works with as yours is a Series40 phone, the only thing you can do now is to take your phone to a local Nokia Care Centre. maybe the contacts are misaligned with the keys (sorry, attempting a technical explanatoin here ), i had the same problem with an old samsung mp3 player. the centre key was a joystick and after too much usage, it becomes so mashed and misaligned that can't select up/down and right accurately and correctly most of the time.
however, there is also the possibility that it still may be something to do with the firmware. often Series60 phones have firmware updates that improve the reliability of the soft-key selections, so it could be something along the lines of that too. but only definite way to check is to take your phone to your Nokia Care Centre. sorry to hear that its stilll not working properly
p.s. if you could please throw some kudos my way, would mean a lot to me
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

    Hi
New to this and a bit of a newbi to Smartphones and Windows so hope someone can help this old Dinosaur! I had a Nokia N8 which had Ovi maps and navigation which was simple and easy to use. I really don't like the maps and Here Drive+ and wondered if I can put Ovi on my Lumina 630.
I also have a problem with my email account, which I hope you don't mind me posting this here too. My emails were coming through okay but now they don't and I really have no idea what to do. Thank you.

No, but create a new thread for each issue is the standard on Nokia Support Discussion. Actually, we are a solution based discussion board, every problem gets one solution. And therefore, we prefer two thread for two isolated issue.

Who is your E-mail service provider?
Do you get any error message or is the Inbox just not getting updated?

Because it is not possible to have the old Nokia Maps in Windows Phone, anything specific which does not work as intended? Perhaps we find a workaround together for that.

  • Nokia C6303 Right Navigation Key

    Hi,
Since updating to the latest firmware my right hand navigation key now gives the list of applications rather than the features.  I used to have my contacts on this key and now I only get a chpoice of different games and applications I never use.  Is there any way to get the choice of phone features back on this key, same as there is on the left key?
    Axel

you can change the shortcut difinition of navigation key, I didn't have 6303 here on my hand, but you can try below path: Menu->Setting->Phone-> shortcut-> navigation key...
    Good luck!

  • Nokia 500 auto navigation

    Hello!
I live in Portugal and I bought the nokia 500 auto gps. While searching the nokia pages I saw the update for my nokia. I made the update and all went fine. Then when i got to use the fm transmiter i saw that the frequency i used was no longer possible. I use frequency 108.0 witch worked prior to the update now the range goes up to 107.9. I can´t use this frequency because it was many jams and there is no other possible. Can i correct my gps so that i can use the frequency 108.0 again? Because in this way I can't use the FM transmitter. Please can someone help me?

I dont live in Portugal but surely you have more options than 108.0....
most FM radios go from 85.0 to 108.0 or so....
I use the FM transmitter on my N500 with the defualt 88.1 FM
Im not sure i understand your problem....does Portugal have THAT many FM radio stations that you have NO empty FM frequencies? Or is your radio not working correctly and you cant tune in an unused frequency?
