Nokia C7 not charging over micro-USB?

Hi,
Just wanted to check if this was a feature of the phone in that you can only charge the Nokia C7 using the micro-usb socket when it is connected to a PC / Laptop? If you connect it to a USB adapter / car usb socket then it will not charge using this method.......even though my other non Nokia phones charge using this method?
Is this a hardware limitation or can they enable it with a software fix?

I don't think it has anything to do with cable length. I do not use the small usb cable that came with Nokia C7. I'm using a compatible usb cable that came with my Kodak camera. Its also is nearly two feet long but am able to charge my phone with it. Am able to say that its charging because the battery indicator cycles as it does with a charger.

iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

    Hello Chambless,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • Nokia 6700 - Charge from Micro USB?

    Hi,
The 6700 manual confirms that the phone can be charged from both microUSB and the standard mini charge but what it doesn't say is that the only way to charge using the microUSB port is to connect the phone to a PC or Laptop. If you plug the USB cable into any other type of USB charge device, including USB charge adapters (such as the iPhone charger) or a standard car 12v socket > 5v USB adapter the phone issues an error confirming charge method is not accepted.
I thought the whole point of phone companies agreeing to the new microUSB standard was to permit charging using any USB port? It seems Nokia have limited the charge capabilities of this phone and it is a right pain.
Come on Nokia, please fix this with the next firmware update !!

This is odd, because Nokia lists their AC-10 microUSB mains charger as compatible. I had thought the device rejects any current above the trickle charge from a standard PC USB cord, but if it works with the Nokia microUSB charger, it should accept higher currents (1200mAH). In which case the Nokia charger must be "talking" to the phone over USB to give it approval.
On the other hand, the manual doesn't mention support for USB mains chargers at all, so maybe including the AC-10 on the peripherals list is a goof.
Hopefully this doesn't extend to Nokia's other USB-charging phones, I have plenty of generic USB chargers around.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • Nokia E72 not charging on pin or USB

Hi, I am having a charging issue with my Nokia E72 which has the latest software. I have taken it into a Nokia Service centre but they cannot resolve.
The phone will not charge and when you connect the charger into the small pin socket the phone displays 'not charging' and then 'sim registration failed' and takes about 1 minute to pick the 02 signal up again. I have tried different chargers and currently carrying 3 battery's all the time and charging them in my old E71.
In addition to this when I listen to music via my parrot in car the music cuts out every 3 seconds as if something is interfering with the Bluetooth connection. However when I plug the phone into the in car charger (and after the above messages and signal loss) this does not happen. Very strange.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
So two months have passed. My phone has been serviced three times since August. It usually worked fine for several hours and was getting broken again.
During the last service visit my phone had its main board replaced along with the LCD screen and one part of chassis front (there was a tiny scratch and now it's gone  ).
The device has been working well for 24 hours now. I managed to configure it and upload all data. So now - fingers crossed.
    Gretings!
    M.
    P.S.
Earlier the service guys did the "digital block tuning" (or sth like that) but it dit not help too much.

  • C6 Can't charge via Micro USB

    Idiotic
I guess thats gonna be 2 more chargers needed then... one for the car and one for the office. And when the phone is at the office, it needs to be plugged in at BOTH ends, one for charge, the other for sync.
I simply can't understand what the hell Nokia were thinking about with sticking a Micro USB connection on the phone and then not using it for charging!, especially since they have signed the EU memorandum agreeing to adopting the Micro USB charging standard by 2011.
    http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/newsroom/cf/itemlongdetail.cfm?item_id=3241
Nokia like to profile themselves as green - way to go for adding to the thousands of tonnes of electronic waste thats thrown away in Europe each year...

You can probably guess that im not gonna press the little green star for that response!
The C101-D is simply shorter, and as Nokia website states "this lightweight cable enables you to quickly transfer data or charge your compatible device while on the go."
http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/all-accessories/memory-cards-and-cables/cables/nok... The C6-00 is listed at a compatible device, on the linked page. therefore it should charge.
I also have a C101 cable from a previous phone, it doesnt charge the C6 either.
I'm perfectly aware of what year it is, but given that every other Nokia model with Micro USB can also use this connection for charging, and given Nokias clear committment to Micro USB as a charging standard, its inexcusable that USB charging doesn't appear to work on the C6, especially with the lack of any clear information/documentation about this limitation.
I'm currently awaiting Nokia Customer Care rsponse on this, since in my view this is a serious defect. Let's see if it is something that can be fixed with a software upgrade or not.

  • Nokia N97 not charging

My Nokia N97 use to be in perfect condition and would charge every time i plug it in. However, lately whenever I plug it in, it charges and then it stops and says "Unplug charger from power supply to save energy" and then it says "Not Charging" and then it charges again and then it doesn't. The light near the charging slot always turn on and off multiple times. I have to play around with the charger and plug it in and out multiple times to get it to work. When it finally starts to charge, it takes extremely long to charge. It used to charge quick but now it take hours. Also, if it is charging, and I accidently touch the phone or the cord, it will immediately stop charging. Then I have to play around with the cord again so it will charge. Please help! What is the problem with my phone and how can I fix it? Thanks so much!

I have the exact same problem.
A new charger does not solve the issue.
The problem also occurs on USB. However, the USB connection is left in place even if it stops charging. And when connected to the charger: the phone does notice the charger is still connected. As soon as I pull the plug it immedieately puts up the notice again that I should unplug it for energy savings.
So it does know it is connected, but it simply refuses to charge the battery untill you disconnect and reconnect it multiple times.
    This is either:
    1.) A software issue
2.) A issue with the battery's internal protection.
I sent a large email to Nokia regarding this issue as this entire N97 is starting to me very angry. Nokia must be laughing very hard about the people paying a ton of money for a product that doesnt even work and will not work for even a year!
Camera slide problems, unlock slide falling off, C: space running low even if you install everything on E: and now the battery that appears to be dead after less than 8 months.
And support or warranty service is nowhere to be found, the nearest Care point only helps ppl that have a business contract with them and the other care points are uber far away. And if you want to send your phone: it can take up to a month or more before it will be repaired!
Great job Nokia.... Your service is extremely bad, and with such a bad service: your phones are way too expensive. You dont care about the clients as soon as they have paid. You dont provide any service at all.
    To topic starter:
try to charge your phone on USB. If it charges without issues: get a new charger.
If it gives the same issues: Check your battery or try to find a Care point. Although the care point dont really care about customers.

  • Nokia E72 "Not charging"

    Hello
I'm using a my E72 singe march, but suddendly in the last week it started saying "Not charging" after I connect it to a Car charger with micro jack.
Ok with USB charge and Line adapter with micro jack.

  • HT4367 What am I supposed to do, if I do NOT have a micro USB cable..???

After updating my Apple TV, there is only an icon on my TV screen, requesting me to connect to iTunes. But what do I do, if I don't have a micro USB cable. There HAS to be another way, since Apple TV is sold without this cable.

    monticola wrote:
The same just happened to me and despite living in the US with plenty of stores to waste your time finding the right cable it is more than annoying that I need to buy a cable to finish an upgrade that did not suggest such a step in the beginning.
Tonight I am ******* mad about Apple.
This is just very bad product design
You only need the cable if something goes wrong with the update. Your update failed. Who knows why. Corrupted download, who knows. This procedure is the rescue so you don't have to take it in for repair.
For the record, my Apple TV 2 updated without issues, no cable needed. I found out long ago that restarting (rebooting) your Apple TV just before updating usually prevents such trouble. The Apple TV is a comuter just like and iPhone or iMac.

  • 3rd generation not charging connected to USB

My 3rd generation not charging when connected to the USB2 / firewire port. Does this imply the battery is dead ? It does change with the AC adaptor but seems to die pretty quickly afterwards.

    Neil,
Are you sure that the 3G iPod can charge via the USB?
When your computer shuts down, the FW and USB ports shut down and, if your iPod is connected, the iPod battery will drain. There are a few things you can try:
    reset, several times
    update the firmware
calibrate the battery and the battery meter

  • Nokia 6288 not charging

I am having a problem with my 6288 the last few months i have had to mess about with my phone to get it to charge such as lay it on its side, upside down and face down. in some cases having to hold the charger into the phone.
today i put it on charge it began charging for all of two minutes then stopped and i have been unable to charge it ever since.
    Any Advice?

i ordered a usb charger for it from play.com £3.99
Then before it arrived my nokia 6288 started playing up with the screen being completely blank, so i turned off the phone and turned it on again to find the screen upside down and now though that seems ok now. my camera no longer works when selected it displays camera on standby. whe i try to view a video the phone resets itself.
I have read on other forums that this is a known problem with nokia 6288's which nokia wont admit to though as i only had mine repaired in december for numerous buttons not working i expected the phone to last longer than 2 months before screwing up again.
I have now decided to give up on the phone which by all accounts is the worst phone i have purchased.
my advice is to do away with the phone and buy a new one because you will only have more and more problems with it.

  • Ipod will not charge or register USB! Please Help

Ok I have had problems with my IPod 3G but now I have no idea how to fix this one. Everytime I plug it into charge if flashes the Apple screen for a few seconds then shuts down and repeats. To add to the problem I cannot reset it because my macbook will not register that it is plugged in. I have tried to charge it using 2 different USB cords and I also tried using a wall plug in. I also tried the hard reset. It will shut down but when I plug it in it just repeats the process. Im no noob when it comes to fixing my ipod but this one stumps me. Im thinking I will have to visit an Apple store.

It think you tried everthing here.  If not try the items.  After that, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple stoe is in order.

  • SOLUTION!! Nokia N8 Not Charging or Not Turning On

    ATTENTION NOKIA N8 USERS!!!
If you encounter the thing that the Nokia N8 won't charge and worst, if the battery was drained and the N8 shutted down and won't charge or power on, try the following steps.
    1. Connect the charger supplied with the N8 to other compatible Nokia phones, like E72 like I did.
    2. Wait for the other device (E72) to start charging.
    3. After it starts charging, remove the charger from it (E72).
    4. Now, try to charge the N8 using the supplied charger that you used with the other device previously (E72).
    5. Wait for the N8 to charge or start.
    6. DONE!

  • Nokia N82 Not Charging

I recently bought the Nokia N82 black from http://www.compuplus.com/i-Nokia-N82-Unlocked-Quadband-HSDPA-GSM-Phone-Black-1012516~.html?t=nokia+n...
It was charging the first day I received it.
    Now it won't charge.
I'm sure the charger isn't broken.
I think the charger port is broken because it looks even more recessed than before.
How do I fix this and if I can't manually fix this, can I go to a flagship store and get some assistance from there?

If you are certain that it's not the charger take it to a nokia care point and they will be able to fix it for you under warranty. Before you do this contact the retailer and ask if they have a repair or returns policy.
Note: If the phone has been imported from another country then you may not have a valid warranty and will have to pay. The care point will be able to tell from it's serial number.
