Nokia Car Kit compatibility

I have just updated from a 6610i to a 6230i and was told by my service provider that the new phone was comatible with my 12 month old car kit.
When I received the new phone I had the error message "enhancement not supported" when I phoned my service provider I was informed that a CA55 cable would do the trick. I contacted Nokia before buying the cable and was told this cable would not work, in fact there was not any other phone that would work with the phone kit I have. I feel a bit agreived that the car kit is now rendered useless, having had it for only 12 months.
Check with the phone provider about compatibility before changing your phone rather than rely on your service providers information.....

I assumed, but shouldn't have, that because I had the kit fitted at a reputable auto electricians, that because the phone holster was a Nokia that the rest of the kit would also be Nokia. When I removed the main box of the kit I found that it was not a Nokia part. I have now got a proper Nokia kit and this works fine, although not bluetooth I got it at a good price, so it should be good for 12 months till my next upgrade. Next time I'll not assume!!!!

  • Nokia Car Kit Adapters

    Hello,
We currently have Full Nokia Car Kits installed for the Nokia 6310i.
We have now moved to the Nokia 6021 (as we can't get the 6310i's anymore) which has a different connector and so does not work in the existing Car Kits.
I have been told that Nokia do different Phone Cradles, called the 7 Series (?) which can the swapped or slotted onto the existing cradles so the 6021's then work in the existing Car Kits (speaker / Mic / Charger).
Can anyone offer any help on what we would need to do to use the 6021's in the 6310i's Car Kits.
    Cheers
    Ian

You can buy an adaptor cable CA-55 which will allow you to fit a CR-23 cradle and will work ok with your existing CAR-K91 car kits. I would however advise you look at upgrading your kits to CK-7W car kits which will cost you a few quid more but will be compatable for the future where as the above option has limited uses and features and can be unreliable.
    Hope this helps

  • Nokia car kit - aerial connection

I have a professionally fitted Nokia car kit for my E50. I'm changing my phone and thought all I had to do was change the cradle .... not so. The cradle has an external aerial lead that links to the inbuilt roof aerial on the car ( Saab ), but this cable is hardwired into the cradle and runs in behind the dash where I guess it connectes to the cars system. So I'm faced with pulling out the dash just to change a cradle.
Is there any other option here ? Are there inline aerial connectors I could use which would allow me to descretely cut the cable and link it to another cradle suitable for my new handset .
    Andrew

    Thanks for the replies folks.
Some more info that should have included in the original post.
The car is a Saab 95.
    I'm in the UK
The car kit is a Nokia CK-7W.
The new phone will be a Nokia 6500
I'll have a look at the dash and see if its in any way similar to the 93. Maybe access is easier than I think.
But another question I'm afraid. The CK-7W wiring loom connects into the base of the cradle and is the same multi pin plug that would connect directly into the E50 phone. If I get a new cradle for the Nokia 6500, I assume the connection into the base of the cradle is going to be compltetely different ?

    Hi davehsuperstar
You might like to look at installation guide here to give you an idea whether the CA-27 Data cable runs to the CK-7W:http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/apac/phones/guides/Nokia_CK-7W_APAC_UG_en.pdf

  • Existing Nokia Car Kit MCC4 & N95 8GB phone

    Hi,
I've bought a car with embedded Nokia Car Kit MCC4, which was designed for old Nokia 3310 & 3330 phones. I have Nokia N958GB.
Can I use the existing connectors (with adequate adapters of course) and expect that I can use the car kit as expected?
I was planing to use existing wires and make some changes:
    1. HOLDER: replace the phone holder with one taht fits my new phone
    2. CHARGER: plug in charger adapter to fit new standard
    3. AUDIO: plug in 2,5mm female to 3,5mm male stereao audio jack adapter
    Thanks.

Thanks for you interest. I'll inform you abaout all I discover about this little hack.
For now, I have difficulties to find the audio cable adapter in my country (prety rare in Serbia).
    This is it:
    http://www.amazon.com/Female-Adapter-Accessories-Electronics-Computers/dp/B000RHMO96
    or:
    http://www.tangshop.com/35mm-to-25mm-adapter.html
Leastways I'll make that adapter by hand, or combine few elements to derive the wishing one

  • Falcon with nokia car kit not muting radio?

Just got a 2007 XR6 falcon with a nokia car kit already fitted. The cable plugs in to my phone and when done the radio flashes up "media" but when a call is received  or made the radio doesn't do anything. Could this be because the model of phone I have, it's a cheap 6131 or just something I'm missing?
    Cheers
    Craig

Check that the phone software is up to date. It sounds like the phone is holding the audio channel open and not realeasing the mute quickly enough.
*#0000# will display what version you are running.
You can update software on pcsuite but remember to back up the phone contents first.

  • Connecting 6822 to TomTom via Nokia car kit

I am trying to connect my handset to my TomTom sat nav and can get the two units to connect via Bluetooth, but not if the handset is in the holster, when the Bluetooth connection does not work.
At a guess, the holster/car kit is not Bluetooth enabled but can anyone confirm this? If so, is my only option to replace the holster?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    i was using a 6230i but have replaced it with a e65.
i bought a brodit holder as the e65 would not fit in the old holder(mbc-15s).the cable attaches and the phone shows as been attached to the car and it even charges, but when i use the phone the sound does not come out via the speaker system as before and i cant use the roof microphone neither.
As soon i re-attach the 6230i the car kit works fully again, including the mic/ speakers.
I am doing something wrong?............any ideas please?
I don't drive so I'm going to ask probably what seems like a stupid question to you ....
Are you using a cable or Bluetooth to connect to the in car kit ?
If you're using Bluetooth then chances are the system you're currently using is incompatible with the E65 at the moment as the E65 wasn't around when the 6230i was created The good news however is that a fix MAY be available if the vendor has updated the firmware to resolve this.
If you're using a cable then I would check to see if there's a new cable for use with the E65. According to Nokia you can use the same cable (CA-53) to connect to both the 6230i and the E65 - but that is for phone to PC. Your cable *MAY* be slightly different.

  • Nokia car kit

Hi there i have tried to make my own car kit using parts i bought on e-bay but i havn't been very successful and am hoping somebody can help.To date iv purchased a hfu-4 , a cu-7 remote button,hfm-8 mic, hfs-12 speaker, mbc-15s hands free holder, ca-27 lead and a pcu-4 power cable.i've put all togther and all i get is a rectangular shapeed icon on my phone which is a 6230i,can someone please tell me where im going wrong thanks chopperk.

I cant tell you what the rectangular shape means, dose the kit power up and can you find the ck-7w when you do a bluetooth search?. Sounds to me like someone has sold you a duff box or you have wired it incorrectly.

  • Car Kit Compatability

I have a Nokia 6230i and want to upgrade, I have a car kit with the cradle (approx 4 years old). How do I tell what type of car kit I have and does anyone know the easiest way to get a new phone/cradle with as little hassle as possible???
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem with both my Motorola headset and my JVC headunit. In my case firmware 2.0 worked fine, but 2.1 rendered both useless.

  • Nokia Car Kit CK-1W

    Hello Friends,
I have a E71 which is paired with CK-1W. However from this morning this CK does not work. The phone is pairing with the CK. But when i activate the remote key of the CK it does not connect to the phone and when I try to establish a connection from phone to CK it says Unable to connect to blue tooth device. Please advise if any one has a solution to this problem.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

I have the same problem. I checked from Nokia web site and it seems that E71 is not on the compatibility list of CK-1W. I guess I'll have to change back to an older phone.
