Nokia Communication Centre cannot find my SMS/MMS

Hello
I currently have a Nokia n70, which I am replacing with a new model. However.
No Nokia software can find my sms/mms messages so I can take a backup of them.
Latest firmware version on the phone:  v 5.0705.3.0.1
Latest version of PC Suite.
Windows 7 RC.
I can sync my phone with windows and everything works perfectly. (Contacts, notes, etc etc)
When I open Nokia Communication Center however, It just says: "getting messages" 0% (translated to english, so might differ) And then it just dissapears...
Nokia Photos just finds my photos and videos. But no texts..
When I try to take a backup of the messages (Everything else works just fine) I just get a "!" And nothing is backed up.
I can enter my sms and mms just fine on my phone.
The problem has been there for a while, but I have basically just ignored it. Since I was using the phone after all, and didn't really miss them. (In other words, same thing happened with Vista / Xp, so I doubt the reason is that I am using Win7)
I have ~2000 sms files, and ~50 mms files.
I am getting pretty desperate and willing to try anything. Quite a few of the messages are very personal and dear to me, so I would do anything to save them..
Maybe some application which can save messages in a .csv file?
Anything
Best regards.

Hi. I had the same problem with my N70.  This solved it (Nokia FAQ site (Australia) for PC Suite). Just follow the 5 steps listed and everything should be fine:
Q: Sending of short message with Nokia Text Message Editor fails.
A:
Check the connectivity between your phone and PC. If the connection is fine, and other PC Suite applications work without problems, check your phone's operating system (ISA or Symbian) from www.nokia.com or from the phone's user guide.
If your phone's operating system is ISA (Series 40), check that your message settings are correct. Contact your local phone operator for more information.
If your phone's operating system is Symbian (S60, Series 80 or Series 90), check that the PC Suite Support file is installed in your phone. The PC Suite Support file is an add-on application for PC Suite usage with contacts and messages. You can check it from the phone's application list. See your phone's user guide for more information. In your situation, the PC Suite Support file might be corrupted or too old for the PC Suite version you are currently using. Do as follows:
1) Disconnect the phone from the PC.
2) Uninstall the PC Suite Support file from your phone.
3) Reconnect your phone to the PC with the Get Connected wizard (on the PC Suite main window).
4) PC Suite detects that the PC Suite Support file is missing and advises you to install it.
5) Follow the instructions on the phone's display.
Cheers.

  • Nokia Communication Centre = Poor

    Hi there everyone,
I've been using Nokia's Communication Centre and quite disappointed about it's usage.
    1) The worst behavior is by design: the program needs to poll the phone to trap changes, and that operation is slow and dangerous for the phone's battery.
If kept active, the program can drain quickly the battery. As I've said it is SLOW.
There are many SMS manager out there that do a much better job, synching the phone with an offline archive on the PC, speeding up operations. Why did Nokia go for such a poor design?
Is there any chance we will get a better performance?
    2) NCC doesn't understand formatted numbers; for example, my archive has some hundreds numbers imported from Outlook address book and each number needs to be edited before it can be used otherwise NCC issues an ERROR.
Example: phone numbers like +44 (392) 334.5678 aren't accepted due to brackets and dots.... unbelievable! Is it too much to ask for a parse-number-before-you dial?
    3) Could it be possible to use NCC to dial numbers on the phone using the address book?
    4) moreover it seems it's impossible to find Nokia's support on software.... you keep being redirected from one site to another...

    Hi ric965,
First of all could you please inform which phone are you using????
For your (1) & (3), you can check your settings section when your phone is connected with PC Suite by clicking in Nokia PC Suite's Settings - Settings - General - Notification options - You can see the notifications for incoming calls/messages and battery level notification.  If your phone do support this feature, in Nokia communication centre, you can select any contact and you can dial by pressing call option in ncc.
If you see clearly in Note they have mentioned : Displaying the notifications increases the energy consumption of your device battery.  Deselect all the notification types if you want to save device battery.
    2) Already a long discussion is going on this forum related to receipient is not valid, if any of the contact has got brackets, ncc will not send messages to those numbers. Since more customers are complaining regarding this, we expect from nokia that it should be corrected in next releases of PC suites
    4) which software are you talking about
        nokia pc suite 7.1 ??? nokia.com/pcsuite
        OVI Suite???? http://www.ovi.com/services/support/nokiaovisuite
        photos ???? nokia.com/photos
Which software exactly do you want to download from Nokia ????

  • PC Suite - Nokia Communications Centre is not Init...

I am running Nokia PC Suite v.7.1.180.94 with bluetooth on both a laptop (Win 7) and desktop (Win 8). Everything is fine on the desktop but, about a month ago, a problem started with the connection to the laptop. Bluetooth is working, the little icon on the taskbar tells me Nokia PC Suite is connected via bluetooth and, after starting PC Suite, my phone name (a Nokia 300) is on the list displayed. However, when I click on any option i.e. Contacts, Messages etc. Nokia Communications Centre (v.2) starts initialising, but never fully loads - sometimes it gets as far as 34% and then stalls.
There appears to be nothing wrong with the phone and it works fine with the desktop. The same software version is loaded on both computers and everything worked fine on the laptop until recently. No apparent changes have been made to the laptop to coincide with the start of the problem.
I'd be grateful for any help in sorting out this problem.
    Many thanks.
    Solved!

Many thanks for the advice. I tried using the cable and everything worked okay. As both my laptop and desktop were using a bluetooth dongle, I swapped them. The laptop works fine now, so it must be a fault with the bluetooth dongle.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Rgds, SMM

  • Nokia Communication Centre missing some contacts

    Good Night
I'm using Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0 on a Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Sp1 connected through bluetooth and in Nokia Communication Centre is missing some of my phone (Nokia E51) contacts.
I got this issue since older versions of Nokia PC Suite (7.0.x) and Nokia Communication Centre (1.0).
All my contacts on the mobile phone are saved on the phone's memory.
    Ty
    E50 -> E51 -> E52

I have a similar problem with Communication Centre 2. (Pc Suite 7.1.18.0
When I am selecting a group in CC 2, they are some members missing (for example, in one group with 22 members on the phone, they are only 17 showing in communication center)
When viewing all contacts on CC 2 (not only those from a group), all contacts become visible.
When I then select a contact that is missing in a group (in CC2) and when I try to add it to the correct group I get an error message "The contact has not been added to the group because of errors. Try later" (it's translated from the french version of CC 2)
As I said in an older post, one thing that doesn't change with the time in PC Suite : the bugs !
Shame on Nokia for this software...

Having issues opening the Nokia Communication Centre module, seems to take some time to open, upto 10 seconds sometimes longer and then it tries to refresh messages.
Using latest build of PC Suite 7.1.30.9

  • Nokia Communication Centre Timestamps are Wrong

Hi, my problem is somewhat odd and difficult to explain, but I'll try my best
I've installed Nokia Pc Suite with Communication Centre, and after CC has finished retrieving all the messages from my mobile I find that their timestamps are wrong, while on my mobile they are OK. For example, a message I received at 11.05 PM is stamped as received at 1.05 AM of the day after on Communication Centre. I already made sure that the time zone on my mobile is the same as on my computer (GMT+1 - Italy), and another odd thing is that if I change the time zone on my mobile to GMT+3, the timestamps of Communication Centre suddenly get fixed.
I have a Nokia 3110 Classic. I hope someone out there will be able to help me out

P.S.: I found some threads on the web discussing the same problem: could this be a known bug?

  • Nokia 9500 problem: cannot find specified server

After some deliberation, I have finally managed to connect my Nokia 9500 to the internet via the WLAN router in my home. So I can access websites ok, although it's slow and some of the webpage elements don't load. Anyhoo... my problem is with Real audio files now. For some reason, it won't download them to my phone when I click save, it just gives me the message "cannot find specified server" and doesn't download anything. I even get this message sometimes as webpages are loading, but after clicking "ok" it continues to load the page and seems to work fine. Anyone know what the problem could be? I'm using a T-mobile pay-as-you-go sim in my phone and my ISP is Tiscali. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The problem is that your internal machines need to access the server's dns to resolve the host name.
    2 steps.
    1. Ensure that DNS in server.app is forwarding requests to your ISP dns server and that server is set to provide DNS
for some or all clients and that you have your DNS primary zone setup with a machine record for the server.
    2. Change the DNS server address within network settings on all other devices to the servers tcpip address.
    Hope that helps
    Cheers
    Gerry

  • Nokia Communication Centre (PC Suite) errors

I'm using Nokia Pc Suite (ver 7.1.26.0) under Win XP SP3. I'm connecting two phones (3109 Classic and 2760) via Bluetooth to PC Suite. Mainly only one phone at the time but sometimes both of them. I get the following errors a lot:
-When loading the messages, PC Suite loads from 0% to 60% but skips the rest of the messages
-When reading the messages, often PC Suite mixes several multipart messages together (ie. the 1st part and the 2nd part are from two separate messages) making it impossible to read the message
-When deleting messages, sometimes several messages get lost from the PC Suite (PC Suite shows an empty phone memory but the messages are still in there)
Are these problems most probably related to PC Suite (Communication Centre) or BT-connection or the phone(s)?

    Hi,
Sorry for delayed reply.  What does your phone(s) display if you call *#0000# on your phone?  Are you always connect both the phone together using Bluetooth?  How many messages do you have on your phones.  When i checked this, i have the following

  • Nokia communication centre occasionally freezes on...

    Hello,
I have a nokia 3310 classic and am using windows vista SP1, I have version 7.1.30.9 of pc suite.
Sometimes when I receive a message on my cellphone, communication centre just freezes. This happens with both bluetooth and usb cable connection.
Usually after a while, after I have read the message on my cellphone itself, it just starts working again. I have noticed no repeating trigger whatsoever.
Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?
The strange thing is that there seems to be no clear trigger which is causing the program to freeze, nor any error message. Also it is very strange that it only happens occasionally, other times it seems to work just fine.
    All suggestions are welcome!

  • Nokia N800 Tablet - Cannot find a format which wil...

I am trying to play a movie on my N800 Tablet PC. I've tried all types of video extensions, but, continue to get error messages. Can anyone recommend a software program that will convert a dvd to a file that the N800 will recognize. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to use this on my vacation.
    Thanks so much!

    Hi chercom
You could use video converter such as Slysoft http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd-mobile.html or YASA:http://www.yasasoft.com/yasadvdtomp4/ which are just two examples.
Find something that you can try before you buy, you are usually limited to converting clip of a few minutes in length but you can check the results before purchase.

  • Communication Centre

I have the N97 and have installed the 'Ovi' Suite. Having looked for the ability to send SMS direct from my PC, the utility does not appear to be present in this version of the PC software. I can see on the beta labs pages a utility called 'Nokia Communication Centre' existd or existeded and the page claims it became part of the PC suite last year.
Can someone tell me if this utility exists for the N97 / Ovi suite or not?

Install the latest version of PC suite instead.
It includes the communication centre and is fully compatible with the N97.  It's also better than the ovi suite in many ways.

You could also try the ovi suite 2 beta.

  • Communication Centre problems

There is a well-known problem in Nokia Communication Centre 1.0 (PC Suite 7.0.8.2):
The messages sent through Communication Centre are not stored neither on phone nor on the PC, and delivery reports for these messages do not arrive. So it is impossible to use Communication Centre.
I believe this bug only occurs with some phone models (I'm experiencing it with 6300); is there any possibility that it will be fixed in future versions?
Or is it somehow possible to get delivery reports for messages sent through PC Suite, even if the messages themselves are lost?
Another, less critical issue is that Contacts manager in the Communication Center can only access the maximum of two phone numbers per contact, even if more are defined in the phone. It cannot distinguish between home and office phone types, etc.
