Nokia contacts using PC Suite

Hello and good afternoon
i am trying to work around this problem:
I have a Nokia phone ( 6230 ) that has lot's of contacts
I want to get them into my Outlook on a laptop.
But when i use Nokia PC Suite, all my contacts from the phone , are put into Outlook but with the information wrong
Because i never specified wich field was supposed to save the phone numer's. But after the sync, i did a search on my Outlook contacts , and they have ALL the numbers on the "other" field.
Why is this ?
And even if this has no workaround, cant anyone show me a freeware applic that changes ALL my Outlook contacts like this :
ALL the "other" fields from a contact list, change the contacts to the "mobile" field ??
answer me soon please

Hi edgalp,
No idea how to avoid the wrong import to Outlook, but I would try to export from Outlook to an Excel or Access file, adjust the resulting columns as needed and import the file back.
It depends on how many contacts do you have. If not so many, it may be just easier to cut&paste into correct field directly in Outlook.

  • How to delete a single Nokia Map using Ovi Suite?

Hi, I'm using Nokia E52 and installed the latest Ovi Suite on a Win XP 32 SP3, performed all the possible updates (E52 included). I used Ovi Suite to download some maps into the cell. Looking at the E52 maps I see that there are many maps that are useless for me, as well as foreign language voices (i.e. portuguese).
Is there any way to remove/delete those maps and voices on the device that I will never use? I cannot find a way to selectively delete a single map/voice: There is a button on the top right part of the Ovi screen but it delete ALL the maps!
    Solved!

I agree completely.  This (being forced to delete all and then reinstall) is user-hostile: it's an unnecessary added step (several steps, actually) that takes time.  There seems to be no compelling reason why we're allowed to delete everything but not individual files.  Updates can and should be handled as a separate process.  All the current system does is create frustration - at least for those of us who have posted here!  :-)
The absence of single-file delete seems to me more likely an oversight by the programmers than an intentionally omitted function.  But if it's intentional, it violates expectations and is an inconvenience - therefore, it was a bad decision and should be fixed.

  • Contacts Back Up Nokia 6300 on PC Suite

I am having problems with PC Suite, I don't seem to be alone! I have had a look through some of the previous posts but can't get the following sorted.
I have made a back up of my contacts etc via PC Suite from my Nokia 6300. The problem is viewing the contacts via the file manager. It only shows 3 of the contacts out of over 100. All are saved to the phone not the SIM. I am therefore not able to confirm the back up is accurate, or edit any of the contacts on my PC. The three that are showing I added to this new phone the others are copied to the phone from SIM when I put it in the new phone but as far as I can see they are all stored on the phone in exactly the same way!
It seems to be a bit of a tempramental programme, I didn't have this problem with my Motorola using a different programme.
I am using Window XP SP2, version 6.83.14.1 of PC Suite and have tried conecting via a cable and bluetooth.

No you are not alone... In order to update the firmware to 7.118, I backed up my 6300 using PC Suite and now I cannot anymore restore all of its contents.
The restoration sequencially restores SMS, contacts, and phone settings. In my case the process stops with an error in the middle of my contacts, without resuming execution for the next contact or the phone settings. The failing contact is always the same. This contact has the particularity to have 2 address lines, so it might be that this special case is not supported by the restoration program... this is just speculation from my side, it can be anything else of course.
Anyway the consequence is that I have now half of my contacts and all of the phone settings left behind in the nbu file.
Appreciated the solution mentioned to use Outlook, but this won't save my settings, nor will save specificities of my contacts that are not compatible with Outlook.
Personally I am not sure this is related to this particular phone model (6300), but must be an issue of PC Suite itself (either the backup or the restore program).
Generally speaking backup and restoration should be the most robust (same level of reliability as the OS itself), otherwise we cannot count on them to execute other programs. Thus they must be simple, like copying files and must mainly rely on the OS. In this funny case, running the phone updater has been safer than the safety measures taken!

  • Nokia 5610: Problem in adding new contacts using P...

    Dear friends
I'm having a strange problem in uploading contact number using PC-Suite. Phone is connected via Micro USB link with PC. Once connected, I select "PC Suite" mode in Phone.
    1. I use Nokia Contact editor to add new contacts in phone. Once I give necessary details in the contact editor then I save it. First time it gets stored successfully. Once again when I select "Create New Contact" and try to save it , it fails!!
Then In phone, I have to select Menu-->Settings-->Connectivity-->USB Data Cable--->PC Suite. Then only it allows me to save the newly created contacts.
I have to repeat this cumbersome procedure every time I create a new contact.
In an all I'm able to save only on Contact at a time.
What could possibly wrong with that.
    2. PC Suite shows only name of those contact, which were added thro' phone. It does not show contact number.
    Xpress Music Rulez
    Codingt the creativity

I have absolutely the same problem.
What's worse is that when I updated the phone software, I lost all of my contacts fromm the phone memory.
I hope there's any easy fix to this issue or I may have to chose another phone manufacturer in future as I find this untenable.
    Great music player, shoddy software.

  • How to use Nokia N8 with PC Suite 7.1.30.9 (appare...

The N8 is supposed to be used with OVI Suite, but if possible, I'd also like to be able to use it with PC Suite.  The latest version of PC Suite won't allow this (not compatible) but an older version seems to accept the N8.
I saw in a discussion at Nokia Beta Labs that I can also install a late version of PC Suite. It's 32.2 megs in size.
(The newer versions of PC Suite install on my computer, but tell me to use OVI Suite for my N8.)
With the version I downloaded from hotshare installed, PC Suite recognized my N8.  It also displayed a message saying PC Suite must be updated to support new features, and told me to click on "help" and then the update link.  I did that, and the next message was "Do you want to install PC Suite on your mobile phone (N8-00)?"   At this point I hesitated.
Has anyone done this, and will doing so allow PC Suite to work better with the N8?  What are the new features that the update is trying to support?  If they're not something I need, maybe I'll just stop where I am.
    Any advice?
Moderator note: (Nokia only allows official download site such as Ovi store).

Step #2 - Update to the latest version that still works with the N8, and also with Windows 7:

  • Nokia 6230i cannot cannect using PC Suite 6.7

    I am using
    Windows XP
    SP2
    IVT Bluesoleil 1.60
    Nokia 6230i
    PC Suite 6.70.22
My Bluetooth stack does not appear as an option on the Get Connected wizard, it only shows the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. Have tried to use this but my phone is not detected. It did appear at one time (and my phone paired with PC Suite) but had to reinstall PC suite and it disappeared. When it did appear my phone paired with PC Suite but still did not connect. I can transfer files with Bluesoleil but want to sychronise with Outlook using PC Suite. Can you help with both these problems?

Does any prompt appear in your phone when you connect the usb cable? In some Nokia like my N91-2, I have 3 option(PCSuite,Mass Storage, & Music) & selecting mass storage give that message, which one have to ignore. Windows treat the phone memory as just another external harddisk like flash disk.
Did you download the PCSuite version specifically for your phone model?Message Edited by android on 12-Dec-200711:22 AM

  • PC Suite with Nokia 5700 uses two COM ports?

I am using Nokia PC Suite 6.84 with a Nokia 5700. The phone is connected to the laptop via a USB cable. I have installed the software on two separate laptops, one running XP with Service Pack 2, another running Vista.
Whenever I plug-in the phone, I see two COM ports associated with it. The first COM port shows up in Window’s device manager as COM port 6 (see attached JPG), however, this COM port seems invalid. When I use HyperTerminal, I see two COM ports displayed: COM port 6 and COM port 7. Using HyperTerminal, I can communicate with the Nokia 5700 on COM port 7 but COM port 6 is always unresponsive.
    Can anyone tell me:
    1. Why two COM ports are used with the Nokia 5700 and PC Suite?
    2. What is the purpose of these two COM ports?
    3. Are they always contiguous? On different computers, I have seen the Nokia phone bind to COM ports 6 and 7, 9 and 10, and 10 and 11.
NOTE: I could not attach the file as a JPG, so I renamed it with a *.log extension. Just replace with .log with .jpg and view it in any browser.

  • Windows Blue Screen of Death when using PC Suite

I bought an E63 recently and by it's very nature I need to be able to link it to my laptop for uploading/downloading data. Laptop's a Sony FE11S running XP SP3 which connects successfully with the E63 via cable or Bluetooth.  Trouble is, I need to import all of my contacts from the PC to the E63 but in PC Suite, as soon as I click on <contacts>  <file>  <import> it crashes bringing up the blue screen.  Tried all the latest software versions including the E63, tried the Nokia PC Suite removal tools, tried only loading essential (windows) programs and still it crashes!  It was over two weeks ago that I contacted Nokia support and all that I've received is a succession of emails (from different people each time) telling me more or less to do the same thing and ignoring my comments and questions, eg. is their a log file somewhere that would tell us where the problem lies?  Tried telephone support a couple of times, hung on for 15 minutes each time only to be cut-off . . !  Beginning to regret I bought a Nokia if this is the extent of their so called support . . . unless there's someone out there who might have a clue as to what's going on . . . any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks for that.  Screen says:

    (c) Nokia E63-1 (223.02)
Going to "Reinstall PC Suite Support" it comes up with a message that says, "PC Suite Support is up to Date".
BUT, I have discovered that turning off Kasperski anti-virus everything springs into life without crashing!  So although I can now load my contacts, etc it would be nice to cure the problem so that I don't have to switch Kasperski off everytime I use PC Suite.  I tried putting PC Suite in Kasperski as an exception (accepted program) but that didn't help.  Any further thoughts?  Thanks.

  • E63 updating contents using PC-Suite via Bluetooth...

When updating my E63 contacts, calendar etc. using PC-Suite via Bluetooth, every update asks the phone "Accept connection request from PC?"  This doesn't occur when using a cable connection but is a real nuisance when using Bluetooth.
Any way of automatically accepting the connection request?
    Thanks,

  • Lost my pics using pc suite....plz help

Hi nokia, i am writing as i am just not happy at all after using 1 of your products and i need your help to solve this matter.
    The problem is as follows-
My n95 8g developed a problem so i used pc suite to back up all my very important data and pcitures, after which i reset the phone to factory settings and did a instant restore of this back up to the phone and check everything was in order before my new phone arrived.
all went ok and everything was restored to normal.
But when my replacement handset was delivered the next day i went to restore my data to this new handset and only part of the data has been added.
all my important pictures of my dad who passed away a few months ago has now it seems been lost.
I have used a program called "noki" to extract the back up file but the pictures are not there.
Yet when i sent the file back to my original handset using pc suite all the pictures was put back on the phone even though i had just reset the handset, which tells me the pics are in that file some where.
Can you please please help me out on this some how..
i was may be thinking of some how getting my origanal handset sent back to me just so i can retrieve these important pics which mean alot to me.
Thanks for any help you may have to offer on this matter.

Sorry to hear the loss of your father. However, these forums are for user to user troubleshooting. If you would like to get a direct response from Nokia, please use the contact us link at the top of the page and either email or call them.

  • Convert Nokia Contacts to apad Contacts

Does anyone has a clue how can I export my contacts (phone numbers not emails) into CSV from the Nokia PC Suite and then how to convert them into a vcf file to import into my apad android 2.1.
    thank you

You have to first decide if you will regularly synchronize your contacts and calendars with Outlook running under the Windows OS, or with the Address Book and iCal running under Mac OS X.
If it's Windows XP, then use the Nokia provided software to synchronize your mobile handset with your Windows environment.
If it's Mac OS X, and your mobile handset is listed as supported on this document, then you can synchronize your Nokia device using iSync, which will integrate the information stored on your mobile handset with the Address Book and iCal.
After that, it's simply a matter of synchronizing your iPhone using iTunes in either environment.
