Nokia Drive 3.0 Commute Live Tile

The Nokia Drive live tile does not update at commute time. I have to open app then exit to start screen at which time the live tile updates. When I open the app the second time it will the ask if I want to begin the commute. The live tile should automatically change near the specified commute time.

Nokia ovi maps was a good software with some minor flaws which i had hoped would be solved in the wonderful 'nokia drive' software. Thus i bought a lumia800. Obviously Nokia Drive was only designed so Nokia could claim they have a free navigation software. I think, they hope that after 10 seconds every user will realize, that it is useless and buy 'Navigation Europe' (45€) (which is still not as good as ovi maps used to be.)
You cannot chose fastest/shortest/optimised route, so nokia drive basically always goes for the next motorway, even if it is a major detour and/or takes longer.
If you leave the route it keeps trying to get back on the route, even if your destination is 50 meters straight ahead
destination input is awkward and lacks the option to pick a destination on the map
You cannot chose to avoid toll roads
You can only add a favorite on your current position
You can only add maps country by country
Voice commands with street names are not availablea
Offline search for the simplest things like 'gas station' does not yield useful results - a poi database (like in ovi maps) is not available
And i do not expect that any of the next updates will solve any of these issues, else nobody would buy the navigation europe software.
so as things are now i would recommend to buy any other phone with gps and buy some navi-software. 'free nokia navigation' is not an argument for anything.
So disappointing!

Hi Everyone,
The question is obviously pointed towards Nokia representatives here, but we're all probably interested in, more or less. So:
What can we expect from Nokia Drive (and Maps...) in future? Are we gonna be given back at least the basic functionality of what there was/is in Symbian Maps version?
Precisely, I mean:
- Destination selection basing on tapping the screen + FAVORITES
- Route calculation customization (fast, short etc.)
- Advanced planning, including multiple points on the route
- POI handling in an up-to-date manner (menus and lists of POIs)
- ... integration with ovi.com web service
I'm still hesitating between new Lumias and Android phones and, to be honest, Nokia Drive seems to be the deal breaker for me.
Another reason for asking is that, while we have a lot of info about Nokia Drive 3.0 featuring live traffic and all the magic stuff, that info still doesn't say anything about re-introducting the very basic functions of navi system.
I can imagine that maanny people think the same way and aren't happy with the navigation functionality drop with the WP introduction to Nokia.

No reason to assume that they won't get updated 3 - 4 times a year as Nokia Maps upon Symbian OS devices do currently.

Live Tiles settings for Nokia Lumia 735.

It seems its no option for the largest Live Tiles in my Nokia Lumia 735 with Lumia Denim.
I want for example the msn weather app/tile cover the display for 100% from left to right in the largest option, not only about 70 %
If I go in to the settings that is not avaible.

Photo not from my phone but just to show what settings I mean.
In my old Nokia Lumia 630 with Lumia Cyan that is not a problem to change the settings for full size live tiles at display or the smaller options.
Is it only my Lumia 735 who got this issue or is it on all devices with Lumia Denim firmware?

Sorry, I was a little bit confused from the attached picture.
Lumia 730 does not have any option to enable 2 tile colums. So your only can hope if microsoft enables this feature in future updates again.

Nokia Lumia 630 DS - Google Mail live tile icon

New owner of a Lumia 630 DS running Windows Phone 8.1...
Very happy overall, but noticed this minor problem with the Google Mail icon being the "default" email one when pinned as a live tile...
Anyone else noticed this or have any ideas?

I have the soIution to my own problem. I just assumed when I got my nokia 520 that you go in the store and get the app "gmail".         Now I know. If you have gmail, go to your start screen and select "settings" and then touch "email+accounts".   Then touch the "google option". Click accept and a beautiful transparent t

ile called "google mail" will appear on your start screen, and with this YOU CAN easily open and download all pictures attached to your incoming email.

Live tile on Nokia Mix Radio

Why did the old live tile get replaced by this pink monstrosity? The old album collage live tile was so much better and really helped show off WP's live tile feature. The new one is static (unless a song is playing, but that's not why I'm complaining) and doesn't even match my theme.
Please bring it back.

Welcome to the forum!
You may change the size of the live tile from small to medium or large, so you will not be able to see it in pink tile.
To resize it, just follow the instructions below:
Tap and hold the Tile you want to change to a different size.
Tap Resize until the Tile changes to the size you want.
When you're done, press the Start button.

Nokia Drive 3.0 - How does "learning driver prefer...

I would like to know how does "learn" feature in Nokia Drive 3.0 work?
Is it related to "My Commute" (which doesn't work in Poland, where I live) or is it independent feature, which will learn usual driving speeds on different type of roads?
It would also be a great feature to use accelerometer to detect accellerations and breaking and use it for "economy mode"..

I also have the problem of not choosing which route is best (as was in Symbian where I had the option to avoid tolls, to option goose the shortest route, fastest or optimized)
I would also like a notification whenever there is a change of route due to traffic or events.
It would be good to have the option to turn on live traffic, as was in Symbian.

Live Tiles, some not so live...

Hi, can anyone share what proffered "'Live Tiles' in Nokia Drive, Maps, Music and Transit (to name a few) actually do?? They do not seem to do anything for me..
In fact, and don't get this wrong I'm as big a fan of Nokia hardware as anyone - read my name, but I think the use of live tiles is actually less than ordinary and a bit disappointing.
Nokia and MS could do SO much more (in fact anything at all)... with the Nokia Music tile .. song, artists currently playing, album art, flip side of artists photo. Email client... large tile could cycle through ALL unread emails .. Calendar, large tile could cycle through several upcoming appointments. Maps/Drive: mid or large tile could show current location (when the app is running).. etc etc.
Not making anything like full use of the UX...

The Nokia music tile does nothing.. This is what i'm talking about.. Nokia could be doing so much better with their built in apps.. And Nokia themselves say that they have a huge amount of say in the UX and can customise as much as they wish.
In fact it says something, doesn't it, that in this way the native music app is actually better ??? Poor effort by Nokia, that's all i'm saying .. particularly when Nokia's music app is so nice, albeit slightly convoluted...

Nokia Drive questions on Lumia 800.

I bought a Lumia 800 over the weekend as my last phone was about to drive me around the twist. I've been very impressed with the Windows interface and the phone over all.
One of the reasons I went for the Lumia was the Nokia Drive app. I work in field sales and travel the length a breadth of this country so I need a reliable sat nav. Previously I've used CoPilot live on an Android which worked well for me.
This morning I did my first trip with the Nokia Drive app and it worked ok up until a point.
I received a call, no problems answered fine through bluetooth not an issue. HOWEVER when the call ended the Nokia Drive app did not resume/return to main screen. instead I got the lock screen with a very garbled background image.
Hoping the Nokia drive app was running in the background I kept driving but after a few turns it was planly clear that the app had closed. I therefore had to pull over to restart the app. Once I unlocked the screen the app did resume. I was just glad I was making a trip I was familiar with and testing the app functionality.
I take/make a lot of calls while travelling I need a nav app that I do not have to re-setup everytime I hang up a call. Can this be addressed in Nokia drive or can someone suggest an alternative app to use instead?

There's no "home" setting in Here Drive, but you can rename a saved destination to "Home" and use it.

Live Tile Colour!!!

Hi, have been trying to change the colour of the live tiles on my Nokia Lumia. Have gone to settings then theme and can change the background colour from balc to white and change the accent colour but it doesn't change the colour of the tile its either black on a white background or white on a black ground but no colour. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, you can change the background colour from light to dark and vice versa in Settings > Themes.

Live Tile video still showing

I just deleted a video and it still flips on the live tile. I've looked everywhere on how to fix this with no luck. Please help! I have completed most troubleshooting methods I can think of. Windows phone 8.1, Nokia Lumia 820

Hi, mccram2. How did you delete the video? Did you copy the video from another source or create it using your phone? From where did you save it, internal phone storage or SD card? When you say "completed most troubleshooting methods", did you already reset the phone to its factory settings? This will wipe out all your personal data. We'll wait for your feedback.

Nokia Drive 3.0

When will Nokia Drive 3.0 come out? the new version will supported offline favorite right? Can you make it with online Windows Live account supported? I means can sync with Windows Live account or Nokia account.

Nokia Drive+Beta maps, don't know that East Street in Bristol UK, is pedestrianised, until Dean Street junction
Bing maps and Google maps know this - do a search.
Please could Nokia maps be updated to reflect - Drive+ Beta keeps routing me down East Street

Also David, it seems like you know of this particular traffic arrangement. Wouldn't it just be simpler to use that knowledge? I have a hard time using navigation in the city in which I live; I tend to actually know directions and routes better than it. But that, of course, is just me. All the best to you, mate!

I Can not Setup my iCloud Account in the new Live Tile mail in windows 8

I Upgraded my laptop PC from win. 7 to win. 8, by saving the win. 7 data on the another drives.
My iCloud account stil works on windows live mail.
In win. 8 there is a new mail client names LIVE TILE MAIL.
I could added my another mail accounts on that LIVE TILE MAIL, and it works properly.
Unless the iCloud account, I did everything as described on iCloud support site regarding that, but couldn`t add it.
Any help

Apple does not support Windows 8 at this time. Try a Windows 8 forum at MS. They may have help for you. You can also post in the Windows forum here.

Nokia drive 3.0 unable to sync favorites

Is there a way to sync Drive3.0 Favorites to Nokia account? If not how can I transfer favourites from Nokia Maps ?

It might be me, but if Nokia maps is installed on my Lumia 800 and the favourites are synced and stored on my phone, I would have thought Nokia Maps & Nokia Drive (both by Nokia) apps could access these synced favourites, after all what is the point on having to enter every destination for 'drive' when it's already stored by you in the 'maps' app. This does to things: 1. Annoys people having to enter things twice. 2. Wastes storage space on the phone (even though it might only be a small ammount). Also Nokia maps on my C6 seems more accurate, as I live at number 9 and my C6 says either 11 or 13, but Nokia Drive says number 24. Which is on the other side of the street and 5 houses away. Even my Garmin says number 11. It's. A pitty that all Satnav units and apps could not allow the user to calibrate then to there exact position. E.G. while outside our home, use a calibration option and press cursors until it shows the exact location. From then on everything should be correctly displayed.
