Nokia Drive+Beta maps, don't know that East Street in Bristol UK, is pedestrianised, until Dean Street junction
Bing maps and Google maps know this - do a search.
Please could Nokia maps be updated to reflect - Drive+ Beta keeps routing me down East Street

Also David, it seems like you know of this particular traffic arrangement. Wouldn't it just be simpler to use that knowledge? I have a hard time using navigation in the city in which I live; I tend to actually know directions and routes better than it. But that, of course, is just me. All the best to you, mate!

Nokia Drive + beta "Drive to" doesn't work on Lumi...

Hi,
Seems like Nokia Drive + beta doesn't work on my Lumia 920. I'm currently in Macedonia and trying to get directions from one location in Skopje to another always gives me the message: "Sorry , can't find your route. Navigation is not yet available in your country. Please go back."
I have the Macedonia map downloaded, and I have checked the list of supported countries, where Macedonia does appear. Nokia Maps seems to have no problem finding a route between the same two locations, but Nokia Drive + beta keeps giving me that message.

I wonder if we can get someone in tech support at Nokia to read this. I've tried contacting their support chat but we didn't get far (or anywhere for that matter). I'd like to know whether this issue is known or not, and whether a fix is planned. If it's an isolated case, what can I do to make it right? I'm willing to work with someone in order to get this resolved.

Nokia Drive+ Beta: Stops navigating without warnin...

My Lumia 822 is rock solid and the Windows 8 Phone platform trumps my Android and BlackBerry experiences by far. That said, the Nokia Drive+ Beta app has providing some frustration, although I do expect some of that with a beta app. I connect to Bluetooth in in the vehicle, plug in a destination, set the phone in the console, and we're off to the races. Unfortunately, several times now, after receiving multiple prompts and heading into my trip, I will notice it has been longer than expected since I've received a voice prompt. I pick up the phone, only to find that the Drive+ app has ended navigation without warning and dropped back to the main screen where the app simply shows your location on the map, but is not actually navigating at all. Thankfully, I haven't gone too far out of my way yet, but I have missed a few exits and wasted some time.
Is anyone else experiencing this, and is there a fix in the works?

Not feasible due to Microsoft OS restriction where only media or application .XAP can be placed upon memory card, whereas map data goes behind protected partition upon phone memory.

Lumia 920 Nokia Drive + Beta My Location Freezing

Hi, first post, be gentle.
I am getting issues while using Nokia Drive + Beta, my position isn't moving when driving or taking 5 - 10 seconds to update then just freezes again.
it seems that i set destination, it finds me and my destination fine, i click start, it gives the first direction fine, i start driving and nothing, "my position" on the display doesn't move, the only way i can update it is "stop navigation" then "set destination" again where it picks up my new location.
i've ensured location services are on, location within the app is turned on, i've checked my connection is "online"...are there any other settings i should be aware of?
speed alert is off,
landmarks is off,
map colours automatic
updated maps
navigation licence is global
i am using it in a windscreen mount that grips the top and bottom of the phone with little "arms", i've tried in both landscape and portrait orientation.
bluetooth is on and hoping to be playing music at the same time eventually.
i have been having the general "freeze out" issue recently with the phone where i lock it and then it doesn't come back on without a button reset, 2 times since friday
any advice appreciated

I too had a similar issue, it was slow to update the other night when I needed GPS to find me a place my family and I were supposed to go to. I've had intermittent issues like that on my old N8 as well but I believe that was due to the network, rather than my phone.
However, now that you have mentioned that you have had to reset the device a couple of times, I suggest that you backup all your personal data first to your PC or other device, and then perform a hard reset. Ensure that you have the latest Nokia updates as well that are being pushed through the Store.
Failing that, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect, as it may be a deeper problem. To locate nearest Nokia Care: http://nokia.com/support

Nokia Drive+ Beta Traffic rerouting option not app...

I have a Lumia 920 with Nokia Drive+ Beta. Ive been told that it has traffic rerouting but dont see any traffic options in there. Ive looked through all the menus, including route settings and route optimisation but no traffic related options.
I live in reading, UK and travel towards and around London a lot so this would be very useful. Is it just not supported in London yet?

Nokia Drive Beta Feedback

So coming from an Android phone with Google Navigation, now I have a Nokia Lumia 822 with Nokia Drive. There are a lot of things that I really miss but here are the top things needed to make this app useable.
1) Traffic Information - The route must show traffic information on the route I'm on plus those around it. Otherwise it is useless in high traffic areas like southern california.
2) Compare Route - The app should allow you to see what are the optional routes and how long it thinks each one will take (and this must take traffic information into account). This is my favorite feature in Google Navigation and it helps me feel that I've made the best choice on which route I'm taking.
3) Pessimestic Estimations - Please don't be like Garmin GPS devices and tell me I'll be somewhere sooner than is actually possible. I like the Google Navigation tends to be pessimistic about it's estimates so usually I can beat the estimated time of arrival. Beating that time feels like winning whereas with the Garmin I always felt frustrated that it took so much longer.
Please consider adding these features!
If any of them already exist, then please do a better job of documenting the application and how it works. Right now I have no idea if the time you estimate includes traffic time or not. I don't know if you'll reroute me if a freeway closes. I don't know anything about the app since I don't know where to find it.

Things I noted when traveling from Seattle and the Oregon coast:
1. High gps use and battery drain. I had to buy a 2 amp iPad car charger to keep the battery from draining.
2. Excellent as long as good gps signal.
3. Loses sanity rapidly when gps signal poor. Does not warn you --told us to turn at weird points where there was no road. Then it would tell us randomly every few miles 'keep left', keep right, 'enter the motorway'. We were laughing so hard it kept us awake. Had to exit the app to fix it.
4. Rather than telling you to turnaround, it tries to micromanage a turnaround. Since this usually happens when there is a poor gps signal, you can get really confused--as the app is also really confused. Doesn't help in the dark on HWY 101.
5.Tells me a turn is coming in 300 yards, when its really about 200-300 feet. The 3/4 mile warning is also off.
Items 3, 4, & 5 really need improvement.

Disappointed that lumia with drive beta has no traffic reroute as my N8 had. !!

Here Drive + is still only Beta so make sure you let Nokia know before tey release the final. You can use the Nokia Support tab below. This is a user to user support forum so your post may not be seen by the right people.

Nokia Drive+ Beta for Lumia 920 - WP8

Hi,
I have some questions regarding the use of Nokia Drive (sorry, I came back to WP after several years on Android so too used to using Google Maps).
My questions are:
1. Is there a way to route around what the 'default' route comes up with? For example, I do not want to drive through NYC and would rather drive around it using specific highways that I'm used to using. I know it's further, but it avoid GW Bridge which can be several hours in traffic if not timed properly.
2. Is there any website where I can plan/setup the various trips/routes and then just have it sync back to the phone (this is typically what I do with all my Google's map usage).

I "try" google maps offline on my Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy Nexus regularly when i am abroad, just as a backup to my N9 which I use as my main navigation device. First problem with google maps is the map data. You can only download a few tiles. The search function and routing dont work very well offline either. Of course there are better paid options but Nokia Maps isn't all that bad for a free solution. The avtual Nokia Maps package is better then the current experience with Maps on the Lumia devices. This is because WP is a new OS for Nokia and they had to start Maps from scratch for this OS and they are still.playing catchup. I was fortunate enough to have a chat with a member of the Lumia Maps team who promised me that the intention is for users to have the same nav experience as other Nokia devices. With the latest beta iteration, they are almost there. Hope they will be there with the final release.

Can someone explain me how works the traffic info in Nokia Drive? I mean, I see no option to activate/deactivate it. Does it allow to change the route according to traffic? Can we setup this?

O.P. I had the same question until this afternoon after work J apparently you must have a programmed route to get the updates. I wanted to go to the closest local grocer and when I programmed it there is a new screen (Pic #01) that says “loading traffic”, then a subsequent screen if you wait long enough that gives you the trip time and delay (Pic #02). Oh, and there is also now an option to get the direction list like Waze did (pic #03).
No legend as to the colour meanings but it appears as if it is the standard red, yellow, orange, etc.
Have fun, and watch out ofr that jerk who does not use signals

[Nokia Drive + Beta] Gas station

Hi,
I think it would be fine to add in Nokia Drive a feature to search for gas station. For instance, my car uses E85 bioethanol, and so if I have to do a long trip, I would like to be able to plan my trip according to E85 gas stations as well.
An idea would be to be able to add how many kilometers we can do with one tank, and so when we plan a trip with the GPS, the GPS will have an option to go from gas station to gas station if needed...

Nokia Drive+ Beta Question

My 822 Lumia has the Drive+ beta app preinstalled, but I notice a second version in the app marketplace ( I assume for non lumia phones, 8x, etc..) , should I leave the app that came with my phone installed or install the one from the markeptplace? I actually have both installed side by side on the phone currently

Think you should only keep the one which was pre-installed.
BTW, did you try launching the application that you installed from the MarketPlace ? Does it open / work ?

OK, purchased Lumia 920 yesterday and after spending a couple of hours trying to transfer my contacts from my blackberry, I now find I am unable to download and use Nokia Drive ?
Like a lot of people, seems im not the only one getting frustrated with the set up and usability of this phone... 10th floor window is looking a good option...
Before I throw out the window, has anyone faced same issue trying to download nokia drive in UAE, Dubai on Etisalat network ?
When I go to download through the app store, I get a message App not available for your device. This might be because your phone software needs to be upgraded, the app is exclusive to a different mobile provider, or the app is not available in your country or region...
Any comments, actions or help would be gratefully received before the phone ends up in the swimming pool..

There seems to be a few issues with the Marketplace which is run by Microsoft and not Nokia by the way. One possible solution is to open the Xbox live app and wait for your avatar to load. Once this is done, exit and try the Marketplace again. Again workround is to change your region UK, which I kow is working. Supposedly users in Finland are also having the same issue. Once again I stress that this is a Microsoft Marketplace issue.

Well it has taken an age to replicate this feature of Garmin Mobile Xt, but at last there is automatic night time mode!

Can you plan routes with waypoints? Itinerary planning?
Can you sync your routes with maps.nokia.com?
Can you record your route?
Can you somehow import/export routes from/to files? Will it accept some almost universal route files like .GPX?
Will it navigate via gravel roads if they are allowed and not try to avoid them in any case?
If there is lot of YES answers to these it's going to be one serious navigation software, maybe even the best. If not it's only a backup if you get lost and dont have your REAL nav with you.

Nokia Drive on Windows Phone- the future. What can...

Hi Everyone,
The question is obviously pointed towards Nokia representatives here, but we're all probably interested in, more or less. So:
What can we expect from Nokia Drive (and Maps...) in future? Are we gonna be given back at least the basic functionality of what there was/is in Symbian Maps version?
Precisely, I mean:
- Destination selection basing on tapping the screen + FAVORITES
- Route calculation customization (fast, short etc.)
- Advanced planning, including multiple points on the route
- POI handling in an up-to-date manner (menus and lists of POIs)
- ... integration with ovi.com web service
I'm still hesitating between new Lumias and Android phones and, to be honest, Nokia Drive seems to be the deal breaker for me.
Another reason for asking is that, while we have a lot of info about Nokia Drive 3.0 featuring live traffic and all the magic stuff, that info still doesn't say anything about re-introducting the very basic functions of navi system.
I can imagine that maanny people think the same way and aren't happy with the navigation functionality drop with the WP introduction to Nokia.

Here Drive+ Beta & My Commute

has there been any status on this? When will My Commute be avaible for Lumia 920 owners

I am in the USA. I bought my Lumia 920 through AT&T. I can confirm that my phone also has Nokia Drive+ beta (version 2.x) installed, and that is all that is available through the Store. Using the link provided in the QR code in the article, I was able to pull up the Store download page for Nokia Drive 3.0, but instead of an Install button, it has an exclamation mark with "This app uses features your phone doesn't have. Learn more." When tapping on that, it says "App not compatible... App only supports the following resolutions: - WVGA (480x800)."
So does this mean that people who bought the cheaper, and less capable phone get the newer version of Drive, while the flagship phone has the version that (a) drains the battery in no time flat, even with the charging cable plugged in while driving and (b) does not have a traffic feed so that it can route more intelligently? In Washington, DC, traffic capital of the US, this is truly a travesty that I can only hope will be fixed soon.
