While setting up my email account on 5800xm through Messaging>Options>Settings>Email, the email setup wizard automatically opens. After defining the email address and password, the wizard automatically attempt to connect through 3g data connection to retrieve the email settings. Why is there no options to choose which connection to retrieve the email account settings?
Does anyone expereince the same problem? How can i change this?

It seems to have worked on my 5800 Xpress.  To decode the advice, two icons regarding the email setup were on my screen, one for email and one for email set up.  The email set up was in pink.  I pressed the white button to get the Organise, went in , selected the pink email set up icon and Removed it.  Now both icons are gone.  We will see tomorrow morning if I get the annoying message again asking me to go on the network.  Think it is sorted. I suspect that accidentaly starting the proceedure keeps it hanging around in the background.

  • Email Setup Wizard

    Hi helpers@blackberry,
I'm trying to set up an email account on my handset.
The issue I'm having is that the setup wizard is only giving me the option to set up an email using the Blackberry Enterprise Server which is not applicable for me as I'm trying to link a gmail account.
According to the tech support site and the instructions (in the setup wizard) I should be getting an option to "I want to create or add an email address" however I'm not getting this. As stated previously I'm only getting the "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server" option.
A prompt response would be greatly appreciated. I'm desperate to sync my mail.

Yup...RIM changes things from time to time, but there's no effective way to go back and edit old posts...try this link, from the BB Browser:

  • Problem at email setup

    Hi,
I tried to setup my personal email on my BB torch 9810, found only one option for enterprise email, entered option and email management , received message as (unable to open email setup application. contact your wireless service provider)
    I ask your help
    thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including personal Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them (Zain, according to your profile information) for assistance. Once you have a Push-email enabled BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • E71 not starting nokia messaging but mailbox setup...

I've recently reset my phone to factory settings (everything - code *#7370#), and the first next thing I did is reinstall nokia messaging by visiting email.nokia.com through my mobile web browser, only to find that starting the pink "@" Email or Email setup wizard, i get plain old email mailbox/account setup wizard for regular built-in mailbox.
I've managed to install everything successfully just a couple of days earlier, when the phone was v300, and now after updating to v400 everything just fails.
    Please help

    Thank you
But i think Nokia Messaging bad installed because i have not this set. I have only "intervalle connexion" 6h, 4h, 2h 1h and 30min.
Often i had the possibility to modify this setting but here, it is different. ??????
I have the sensation to have the simple version of the e-mail of Nokia.
It is bizarre but in Menu, Installations, i have 2 icons @.
one icon @ Config.Mess and one icon @ Email.
When i press on the first one, i have access to the creation for a new adress mail.
When i press on @ Email, there is nothing.
    there is a problem, no?
    bye

  • Email setup asking for Username and Password.

I recently backed up my phone on my computer and ever since I did, it's like all of my personal settings were deleted as well. For instance, I had to fix my all of my profiles sounds after backing up, and I went to my Blackberry Appworld, scrolled over to My Appworld and it says 'no downloads' and I have downloaded a lot of applications. That's not really a problem for me, as long as I get messages when updates come out for the apps...? Now, I am trying to setup another email  address and when going to 'email setup wizard', I am being prompted for a Username and Password. I don't remember ever making a username or password for email setup, but was able to firgure out I could put my PIN in for my password to be sent, which it was. BUT I still do not know what my username is, and I've tried my email addresses with and without what's after the @ and still no luck.  Could somebody please help me resolve this problem?

You must have done something more than just a simple backup -- a backup does not change device settings or preferences or write anything to the handheld.
As far as the email setup, it should not be your email address, it's whatever you created, perhaps the first part of your email, the part before the @ ?
but you must know it to proceed. Or, call your carrier and ask to have the BIS account reset (basically they shoudl delete it and recreate it for you).

Quesion, you can access to any web page with your device?
You can add the account through your carrier web page, log in on your account, go to setup blackberry mail and add the mail account.
Try resetting the device too, with the phone turn on, take out the battery for 30 seconds and install the battery again.

  • Email Setup Option Missing

    Hi All -
    I am in UK.
I am the proud owner of an iphone, sorry I don't want the knives thrown.  I have bought my daugter ( refering to as me for the rest of the topic) the BB Curve 8900 at her request against my better judgement, without any disrespect to Blackberry users, each to their own.  I am use to things working out of the box or just a simple restore to factory and away you go.  There seems to be very little about how to maniplulate the Blackberry to the Users requirements.  Considering I own it!  I should be able to do with it as I please.  I am very computer litterate so what you throw at me in solutions, dont worry about the lingo.  That's it my rant and rave due to frustration is over, any assistance would be greatfully apreciated.
My BB Curve 8900 badged as T-Mobile and unlocked.  Not sure on software but when I checked on line is was up to date.
Bought brand new from a work colleague so no problems there.
I am on vodafone with data plan.  The internet on my BB works fine and I can browse no problems.  I have phoned Vodafone customer services and got a feeling that 'ar*e and elbow come to mind'.  They said can you get the internet, I said yes, they said so what's the problem!
On the setup email, I only have an option to join an exchange type server.  My friend has the exact phone but bought on contract from Vodafone, she has 'mobile email setup' .  I have looked through the internet and found the 'setup email help', as I have said I don't get any option other than joining a VPN type email.
So please help me. what can I do, wipe it clean, re-install the software, my last hope would be to go to our local Vodafone shop and I get a feeling the my previous comment would come back in to play.
Thank you for reading my ramblings.
Regards and respect to you all.
    Tony

  • 8520 Email Setup Issues and App Download Issue

    Hey there
I got my first Blackberry ever yesterday. I've been wanting one for years but I finally got it and I cannot set up my email or download any apps.
Each time I got to setup the email the only option is 'I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server'
But I don't. And I know to download apps you have to download the app world. I did it via the desktop but apparently my phone is compatible?
I'm so confused and I don't know who to ask to help me.
    Thanks

  • 9330 Email Setup Issues

I have a friend of mine that just got a Curve 9330 through US Cellular. They have the BB Data plan, we can setup a person email account with the live.com email they have. But when we try to set up a "blackberry.com" phone specific email i keep getting; "Unable to add account. Please check your information and try again". I have tried every combination of user names and passwords i can think of. I am working on my last nerve. It is running OS6. Can anyone help?

I don't know why your email would suddenly stop working but your cell carrier should have a self-serve BIS site from which you can add, delete and edit all email accounts on your BlackBerry phone.
If you can't get the email setup wizard to work, call Optus to gain access to the self-serve BIS site.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Deleted email setup device on phone

I deleted the email setup device on my phone. I received an email saying I needed to update my password. I tried doing it online but can't remember my password or login. How can I reload the email setup device to I can do it on the phone?????

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Did you delete the email setup wizard?
Also probably the best thing to do is call the carrier, have your PIN and ESN number and get them to reset the account.
Let me know about the email Icon.
