Nokia E5 - Automatic Connection to BT Wifi / Fon /...

I have a Nokia E5.
I often connect to the internet on it using BT Wifi / Fon / Openzone connections. These require me to enter login and password details into a webpage and submit every time.
Is there a way I can configure a connection to automatically log me in when in a connection zone?
// Have tried Menu > Control Panel > Settings > Connection > Destinations and adding a new access point then configuring manually EAP plug-in settings. I think this should work if I knew what the right settings were and had / knew which was the appropriate authority certificate //
Has anyone managed to get this working with bt wifi?

Good question. Difficult to answer. I tried hard and could not find any EAP support in the UK, one-and-a-half years ago.
Ask one of your acquaintances with an Android device to install the free Wifi Analyzer. Within that tool, please, go to Settings (wrench icon) » Show full securities and tick that. Then go back and have a look at your Wi-Fis. If its states [WPA2-EAP-CCMP][ESS], you have found a base station (ESS) which does EAP in WPA2 with AES/CCMP encryption.
Unfortunately this way, you cannot determine which outer EAP tunnel type and which inner EAP tunnel type is/are used. Therefore, have a look at the documentation of the provider of that base station. There are rumors FON does EAP-SIM, however, I have not found a single spot, yet.
Beside EAP, sometimes it is possible to dissamble the HTML form and create a hyperlink (URL) which contains the paramaters already. If you use that URL as default page, you are logged in automatically. Again, I never tried to made up such a URL myself and did not find one either.
Nevertheless for FON, they provided the FON WiFi Connection Manager for Nokia Phones. However, I never used it. Devicescape’s Easy Wi-Fi in version 3?

System Preferences > Network > WiFi
To give a network the highest priority, drag the name of the network to the top of the list. This is the network your computer will attempt to join first.

    Random35,
does your wi-fi router filter access by MAC address? If it does, then have you added your MacBook Pro’s MAC address to your router’s whitelist of acceptable MAC addresses?

  • Mac NOT automatically connecting to preferred wifi network

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with OS X 10.9.1 (Mavericks) wifi connection.
I use a Time Capsule as a base station and 13" Macbook Air (2012). The base station is connected to the internet through a PPOE connection.
    Here are the details.
Since upgrading to OS X 10.9.1, my Mac automatically connects to preferred wifi network ONLY WHEN the wifi is available at start up or when the Mac wakes up from sleep, but NOT OTHERWISE.
Before the upgrade, the Mac automatically connected to the preferred wifi network not just at start up, but whenever the wifi became available.
In other words, after the upgrade, if I boot up the Time Capsule base station and the Mac simultaneously, the Mac scans for the base station wifi network (this is configured as the top preferred wifi network) at start up, but since the base staion is still booting up, the Mac doesn't find the wifi.
But once the base station has booted up and wifi is available, the Mac no longer bothers to join it.  At this point, the Mac is also not able to do Time Machine backups to the Time Capsule because it is not able to locate the Time capsule disk over the wifi.
This situation remains (i.e., the Mac being not connected to the wifi) unless I do ONE of the following:
    1. I manually select the preferred wifi network using the wifi icon at the top of the screen;  OR
    2. I put the Mac to sleep (by closing the cover) and then wake it up.  On wake up, it connects automatically to the preferred wifi network; OR
    3. I turn of the wifi (using the wifi icon on the top) and turn it back on, at which point, the Mac automatically connects to the preferred wifi network.
I have tried everything possible including contacting Apple support, but so far the issue is unresolved.
Appreciate any help you can provide.
    Prem

I have had wireless problems intermittently for a year, and seriously for 6 weeks. Apple denied the issue and was no help in spite of many tens of thousands of people on their own discussions complaining. I found a post suggesting a couple of things which fixed the problem. I don't know if both are necessary, but the first by itself does not solve the problem.
Lock the channel of your router to channel 1, apparently Apple and 802.11n don't play well together on higher channels. When this becomes a standard this will be resolved I hope.
Open your network preferences, select 'airport' and advanced. Delete unused networks. Select your network.
Open TCP/IP and write down all the settings, configure iPv4 manually. Enter the settings manually. Turn off IpV6.
Open DNS and write down your DNS server. Delete it and re-enter it manually.
This has worked on 2 macbooks and an iMac for the last 3 weeks with no network drops.

Macbook Air with OS X 10.8.2 not automatically connecting to known wifi network after sleep

If you are using WEP as a security on your router that is why it won't connect. WEP is so old school and very insecure that Apple has made it so there WiFi cards won't connect to WEP. It might as well be wide open. You can try that. Take all security, WEP/WPA/WPA2, off your router and see if it connects.
If it does then use either WPA or better WPA2.

  • New iPhones automatically connecting to public wifi

hi .. the family has 3 new devices (iPhone 5S) running 7.0.4 all connected to my Apple ID
I set up the iPhone in a bar in London then I connected it to a different wifi network in a nearby restaurant .. neither wifi spots required a password
but I see the other two devices the next day automatically connected to these wifi networks without me doing anything - what a great feature !
have iPhones always been able to do this ? did it recognise my Apple ID and assumed I would want to connect to wifi on the other 2 new devices ?
I have been using iPhones since 2008 and never before witnessed this .. is this a new feature or a bit of luck ?

    completely agree ..
of course it was and I think even an apple novice would know this ..
due to apple products significantly benefiting my businesses over the last two decades I have in some ways become a bit of an apple nerd, and when I notice helpful improvements in the operating system (particularly business related) i research them..
this is one of the rare occasions where I cannot get any official clarification as to what apple did in ios7 to make 'joining trusted public wifi spots easier'
    1) every year I buy a bundle of new iPhones for work and family and noticed this time they all automatically connected to known networks faster and more consistently than in previous years;
    2) google this topic and lots of sites say the same thing i.e. iOS 7 improved something with connecting to "trusted" wifi spots;
    3) i asked in store and staff confirmed this but had no further details;
    4) scan all Apple's official pages and no more detail !
    5) SO ARE THERE ANY NERDS OUT THERE THAT CAN PUT MY MIND AT EASE
HOW DID ISO7 CHANGE THE WAY DEVICES JOIN TRUSTED WIFI NETWORKS ??? APPLE ARE NORMALLY PROUD TO TO HIGHLIGHT AND EXPLAIN IMPROVEMENTS
WAS IT PURELY AN IOS7 SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENT OR DOES HAVING THE LATEST HARDWARE (5S & AIR) HELP ?!

  • TS1398 my iphone 5 will not automatically connect to known wifi

i just got the new iphone five. i connected to my home wifi with no problem. when i leave and come back the phone will not automatically connect to the wifi. i have no problem's with my wife's iphone or the ipad. i went to sprint store they were no help. any suggestions?

I downloaded and installed the latest software for the iPhone 5 (Version 6.1.3) - the version originally installed was 6.1.2.  Same problem exists - iPhone will not automatically connect to my home WiFi.  Even after I select my network and it connects.  If I turn WiFi off and then back on again, it will not automatically connect.  The iPhone screen states "Known networks will be joined automatically.  If no known networks are available, you will have to manually select a network."  How do I get the iPhone to work as specified above?  Thanks.

  • TS1398 How do I get my iPad to automatically connect to the wifi without me having to put in the password every time?

I have set up 6 iPads to work in my school. It took a while to get there but I got there!
My problem now is that I don't seem to be able to get them to connect to the wifi automatically without having to put the password in every time. I got the first one to do it but I did that one a while ago and can't seem to remember what I did differently!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

turn off all of the ipads, (not put them to sleep but turn them off) then unplug your Wi-Fi router for 2 mins. Plug it back in and when all the lights are (green or blue, depends on who makes the router) turn on one ipad and then connect it, wait 3 mins and turn on the other and connect it, do this for each iPad and it should fix the problem.

  • Automatic connection to the wifi network

My iPhone connects automatically to my friend's wifi network, but it does not do the same with my own wifi network. Why? What can I do to dolce this problem?

When connected to your wifi, go to settings>wifi tap on your LAN and on the next window, tap Forget this Network.
Then log back in.  It should remember your login in the future.

  • Use Nokia N8 to Connect 802.1X WIFI through EAP-PE...

I have read a lot of articles on this forum, and the conclusions i get are
In Nokia System, if you would like to connect to a 802.1X wifi with EAP-PEAP, you MUST have the CA issued from your wifi AP.
    1. My question is, if the CA is necessary?
    2. If the CA is necessary, and I really can't get the CA, is there any method to connect EAP-PEAP wifi without the CA?
Becuase I found, most system, like windows, iOS, adndroid they can tolerate the lack of CA, why Nokia's system insist this?

Guys did you find a workaround this?
Anyone know if this is addressed in the up coming update "Anna".
    I am really frustrated.

    hi mate,
have you checked via the settings of the 5800 and your car head unit's Bluetooth that it pairs automatically? my mother has a Nokia 2690 and it pairs up automatically with the car head unit's Bluetooth capabilities as soon as she starts the engine.

  • TS1398 iPad will not automatically connect to home WiFi, I have to do it manually each time.

My iPad will not automatically connect to my home wifi and I have to manually connect each time. Is there something I can do to correct this?

Update the firmware in your WiFi router. Look for an update on the manufacturer's support Web page.

  • So i lost my ipod, its signed into icloud and automatically connects to a wifi..but when i go onto 'find my ipod',  its saying i dont have a device connected with icloud? help?

    ugh

    lost/stolen
No app on the iPod is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    iCloud: Erase your device
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    - iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number
Note that it would only automatically connect to networks it previously connected to. Then it is unlikely it would find such a network

  • When I open my macbook pro it's not automatically connected to the wifi at home

    Hello,
When I open my mac it's just usally is connected to the wifi itself but now I keep getting that I now have to wait 10 seconds or longer after opening my mac to have my mac connected to the wifi ! Has it something to do with Mavericks ?
    Kind regards

Some users have reported solving this problem by resetting the NVRAM (PRAM.)
If you've installed something called "iCleanMemory," or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "free up" memory, remove it according to the developer's instructions after backing up all data. Reboot and test. If there's no change, continue.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
