Nokia E5 - Product released with bugs - Any Nokia ...

I bought Nokia E5 assuming it's a super Smartphone at affordable price but i was conned. It doesn’t even have features present in budget phone. You have released this product with lots of bugs. I want someone from the higher ups respond to my complaint.
1>    Even if you have 3G internet it is slow and takes a long time to display pages. Sometimes it is stuck at 0k and does not load the page. Bug: There is a BACK button at the bottom right of the screen to go back to previous page but doesn’t work. The page gets stuck at this point. If you’re lucky you should click on the back on the web page itself.
2>    Lack of feature: When you receive an SMS, classic Nokia phones display name of the person who has messaged. This phone only shows ‘1 message received’ no name display.
3>    Lack of feature: All Nokia phones have a feature where you can send text message to recently used recipients, numbers in called register, contacts etc. so that you don’t have to add recipients again and again. This feature does not exist in E5.
4>    Defect: ‘Options’ Key on the left side doesn’t work..need to press hard to get it working (it’s specific to my phone and was working earlier)
5>    Defect: Often looses connection while talking and gets ‘connection error’. Even if you dial back the same error shows up. If the caller is trying to call at this time, they get not reachable issue. You need to switch Off and On the phone, wait till it reboots and then it connects again. Looses signal many times. This is not SIM issue, one time I rebooted the phone and still had lost signal. I put the SIM in my old 2700 classic; I found there was full signal. I put the SIM back into E5 still had lost signal. I did not use the phone for ½ day and then tried putting Sim again, it worked. Pathetic phone!!!
6>    Feature made complex: All Nokia phones have an option to Mark/Unmark text messages or contacts to delete. For ex: if I choose to delete 10 messages from my inbox, I can go to options and select ‘Mark’. Later on Mark button is active and you can just highlight the message and keep pressing center key on keypad and it’ll automatically start marking the items. Once all 10 messages are marked, choose delete and they’re deleted. In E5, every time you have to navigate to options and select ‘Mark’. For ex: if you want to delete 10 messages from inbox, you need to navigate 10 times and select ‘Mark’. What a time waster!!!
7>    Do you call this a business phone? Lack of feature: You can snooze a reminder only up to 5 times.  After 5 snoozes the option to snooze does not display. While I can snooze infinite times in my 2700 classic. Budget phone is better!!!
8>    Product limitation: It has a built in dictionary which doesn’t have many words. For ex: retrospective
9>    Bug: If you install any application dictionary, you cannot type lower case letters for certain words. In order get a meaning of a word say ‘ordinance’, you should type oRDinAncE. I’ve installed 4 dictionaries and had this issue with every one of them, so this is not app specific. The same app(English mini) in 2700 worked just fine.
10> Bug: Built in Map application doesn’t work most of the times. It gets stuck on Waiting for GPS while my friend’s Iphone gets full GPS signal.
11> Bug: Built in ‘Google’ app doesn’t work either. It only displays the result, when you try clicking on one of the results, you get ‘unable to open this browser…’ while you can open a new web page and type www.google.com, search for results, click on the link it works. Damn I can’t even uninstall built in google app.
12> Product limitation: You cannot organize your songs, the way you want. It displays everything including ring tones. I think Nokia wants their customers to listen to mp3 ring tones while travelling.
13> Lack of feature:  How to turn off Camera sounds? You can’t, this is ridiculous and disturbing.
Trust me Nokia has lost its market to Samsung and Apple. Nokia phones are no longer reliable. What a waste of money for Rs 9500/- I don’t even get features available in a classic budget phone. If you have a convincing response let me know.

Hi ,
The same problems are faced by me in my Nokia E5 handset as mentioned by navbond007.
This is really pathetic  and shame on Nokia that even knowing the problem they are not responding to their customers.
Seriously nokia is loosing his name by creating such useless products, and no quality thing is anymore associated with this brand.

  • Nokia S60v3 time auto update bug

**NOTE: You will ONLY see this bug if you live in USA where there is no DST**
I live in Phoenix (Arizona) and there is no day light savings here i.e. MST+NO DST or they also call it "Arizona time (GMT-7hr)".
When i bought N95-1 in April 2007, i had set the phone to auto update based on network time. It would always report +1 hour of my actual time i.e. 7:00PM when the actual time was 6:00PM. I did all sorts of debugging (changing sims, trying AT&T vs T-mobile sims, firmware updates) but no success and i ended up disabling network time and set the time manually on my phone which is not nice if you travel between time zones. My current sim would report correct time on my wife's Treo-680 & Motorola Razor. Later i bought N95-3, same problem!
Then i was surprised to see my friend with Nokia N80 had exactly the same problem here in Phoenix so now at least i knew i was not doing something stupid.
I finally nailed it that it is bug in Nokia phone software because after first Sunday of November (11/04/2007) when DST end in USA and we revert to standard time the Auto update feature started reporting correct time and is working properly now. And i bet after the second Sunday in March (i.e. on 9 March 08) when DST kicks in, it would go bad again to +1 hour offset.
Nokia needs to fix this bug.

I do not believe this is network operator issue. if that were the case, then it should break other phones as well. As far as I've been able to determine, looking at other Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, and Motorola phones, this isn't the case. They all work fine. Actually my Nokia 6270 works fine on the SAME operator and on the SAME sim card!!
Another point is that i even tried other operator SIM cards into my N95 and it is always the Nokia and not the operator. I can also say this with confidence that the issue is not only N series but also the E series device that have S60v3 or higher
I am not the first to report this. Here is another thread and towards the end it seems Nokia knows about this. Which makes me even more mad!

  • Nokia sell products which not testing procedure ?

    Dear all!
Actually, I am very angry to nokia which sell products too bad. A month ago, I bought a Nokia E52 mobile at 10pm (Viet Nam). Because at that time in Vietnam is late and i bring the phone after i buy and and using it in the next morning but when I call my friends I hear them talk but they do not hear me speak. Oh my God! I know a story or not, I change mobile number and call again. The result is bad for nokia product. Ver bad or fake product? I check the serial number and that is really nokia product. I bring my mobile to the sale and ask them give new mobile because I spend 24 hours enough integrity which only three hours. But the sale don't want to change new mobile. Oh my God, this is damn policy's Nokia for customers. Is this a true?. Despair too much, after a quarrel feedback they agreed to change new mobile, I thought no more errors. But the new mobile is failed again, the mobile don't vibration for a week after i using. My patience with the nokia product is over, i'm very hate. Sometimes i have been called and the system is restart. Feedback after a consultation I take it to the center nokiacare warranty in Vietnam. The engineer staff of nokiacare said me that my mobile have heavy error and give it to central care services change the new motherboard. Oh no, nokia phone have quality is too bad. Must change the motherboard when using not full once month. I swear i will never use any nokia product. Nokia only produce products that are not the test stage. I can not understand ISO organization which certification for nokia.

    Dear Dumuc
I can really understand your frustration here. Two phones in a row is a little to much. I hope that when you get back the repaired phone, all the problems will be gone.

I bought it from o2 but without contract, thus i payed the same price as i would if i bought directly from nokia. Additionally, its Nokia who has to fix that, not Telco!
Guarantee is provided by the manufacturer ONLY. Warranty is provided by the dealer ONLY. If your dealer rejects providing warranty (eg. not publishing updated firmware) you have the right to get guarantee.
My provider here is o2 and cause of this topic i called them and asked why their latest firmware is still 11.0.021 while current official is 21.0.045. They told me that the o2 services would not run with the official firmware (ROFL) thus they release updates after 1 year !!! That means o2 N97 users are getting 21.0.045 at 02.02.2011.
    BUT
After i told them that all o2 services are running well with the official firmware and that they should release updates faster for Nokia phones (because they're containing the most bugs compared to other manufacturers) they told me to write a letter (or fax) to them explaining the facts again so they can "debrand" my phone officially.
So, i would write a fax to TIM and tell to release the latest update. If they don't agree i would tell them to debrand your phone. If they still disagree i would force an law issue against them.

  • NOKIA C1-01 - Problem with e-mail on Gmail

    Hello everybody,
I have a problem with the gmail software. When I go in messaging / Mail, then I add a Gmail account when I connect I always have the message : "unexpected error try again".
I have also the same message if I try to get my email by messaging / mail / add acount / other
How can I solve this problem ? In the specifications of this phone it is written that it is possible to get email with IMAP. How can I check email by this way ?
    Thanks.

Yes I installed it. But it doesn't supports notifications or push-e-mail. And it's just a Java Client.
But I fixed the problem: If you set the number of e-mails to fetch to another number than 50, it will not work. It really confuses me, because it worked without any problems on my 5800 XM and (in the beginning) also on my X6.
I'll report this bug to Nokia.

  • Nokia is cheating us with their 5800 :( - Screen B...

I bought nokia 5800 on the first day of  its release(jan 3rd,2009) in Bangalore,India.
The fone was gr8. But all of a sudden the screen got spoilt,
it used to go blur rendering it useless whenever  the screen was unlocked(using the slider on the right side).
first i reinstalled the latest firware, restored original factory settings .. and did everything possible. But still the problem persisted.
Then took it to Nokia Care, hoping i cud get back my fone to a usable state.
But ther they said they dint have stock of lcd screens.. and also said tat this hardware issue is bound to occur on all 5800s.. M lucky it happened within warranty. i guess the same problem will be ther wit n97 too..
So now i'm in a state wher i cant use my fone, and also cant get it fixed.
Ther is one more issue, the free songs tat came with the fone, is unplayable as the license keys are not valid for the firmware version..  and theunlimited access to their music store is also BS.. ther is no store open for India yet.
Nokia is voted as the most trusted brand in India. If they continue cheating us like this, They are sure to become the  least trusted brand in India.

    hi there,
How is the climate in bangalore??
the initial product 5800 released by Nokia had ear piece problems too sorry for ur 5800 which had LCD problem, fine that u have resorted to all that u can do inspite of it is a LCD problem which can be done onlu thru NCC
Is ur phone back to normal now ?? because one point u mentioned its done thur warranty and in the other u mentioned u cant use the phone nor repair it what happended??
Ur licences get deleted when u update ur firmware i think u can restore all the activation keys using the activation keys options in settings i am not sure about this since i havent done it sorry for partial info about this
I greatly agree with u that Nokia music is a farce thing that Nokia is doing with india, even in the latest version of nokia pc suite u will find Nokia music app instead of nokia music manager where they have not officially opened a music store in India
I hope nokia will be a trusted brand in india only for their legacy..........
Since this is user-user forum we can only comment on ur thoughts, 'contact us ' button at the top right of this page is the only way u can make Nokia understand that they are cheating

    http://store.ovi.com/content/112209?clickSource=search&pos=8&lang=en
the middle screen shot clearly shows the autofocus option when you click settings.
my phone is recognised by ovi as an N8 but im wondering if this software version with autofocus is for the n900
any one managed to get nokia panorama 2.05 with autofocus working on an n8??

    @miremare11
You are quite correct in your assumption that this Qt application is also available for N900 with autofocus as per screenshot, but can't include one from N8 (can't take screenshot from within camera application) which only has "Image resolution" in same screen to compare:

  • Camera Software Bug on Nokia Lumia 810

In mid-December 2013, following a recent Nokia software update, the camera on my Nokia Lumia 810 now no longer supports the ability to tap the screen in order to take photos or video.
Instead, I am forced to use the physical camera button which tends to cause slight movement of the phone and blurring of pictures, especially since the 810 lacks the anti-shake feature found in more advanced models.
I assume this is a software bug because I have searched for a setting that would allow me to re-enable the tap to take pictures capability and have found nothing of the kind.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can fix this? Will Nokia be releasing a software update to address this problem?
Would appreciate a response soon as one of the best things about this phone has been the camera and right now the camera experience is just awful because of this issue. Several photos from Christmas were ruined by it.
    Please help.
    Eric

Problem solved ... sort of. After a little further investigation, what I haved learned is this:
    (1) When first opening the camera mode on a Nokia Lumia 810 (running GDR2+Amber), the functionality for immediately taking a picture can only be accomplished by pressing the physical button on the handset. The ability to simply touch the screen (anywhere or even on an icon) to initiate a snapshot is no longer operational.
    (2) Added now appears to be the option to select a lenses, any one of several installed camera capable apps on my phone. Once an app is selected, it is then possible to touch the screen to snap a shot from within these apps.
So in summary, what was once a two step process to take a picture (i.e., 1. enter camera mode, 2. tap screen to take photo) is now a three step process involving an extra step in the middle to select a lense before tapping the screen and taking the picture.
I would prefer that the camera would continue to support the previous two step picture taking process, but at least now there does appear to be a way to take photos by tapping the screen in specifc apps, such as Smart Camera, which is important in order to avoid shaking the camera (which can happen when using the physical button).

  • Nokia candy bar phone with LED torch function

    Hi,
I need a candy bar phone with LED torch function with a decent camera 3-5mp.  I don't really want to install an app I want it as standard.  Can anyone recommend any Nokia phone that offers that?
I need it quite urgently as my wife's contract is up and I cannot find a phone for her.

Check out the Nokia X2. It has an LED torch as standard that is accessed by holding down the * key. It also has a 5mp camera and the quality of the pictures is good.

I've got an X2 and think it's a great phone in it's price range. I paid just under £60 for a black one and have been very happy with it.

  • Nokia lumia 2520 two observed bugs

Yesterday, i bought a nokia lumia 2520 (UK) and till now i observed two bugs:
    1. Reader App froze the screen. I was reading a pdf and the screen froze, the solution was to hold the power button to hard reboot the device.
    2. Infinite restarting. i shutted down the table with 3% of battery. After that i tried to turn on the device and a infinite loop of restarts was started, and it continued even after "Automatic Repair". In order to solve the problem, i plugged the power adapter.
Probably these failures caused because of the Windows RT OS, and i would like to inform nokia about them because the tablet (hardware+nokia apps) is awesome.

I'm having a similar issue here in the US. I bought my Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet 5 days ago. It has crashed on me everyday and generally have been able to get it to reboot. I tried a hard reset and yesterday tried to do a "refresh" of Windows RT. It worked fine after everything and so I used it last night and put it away without charging it because wanted to see if the battery would last with it off overnight. I woke up this morning (9 hours later) and the camera light keeps blinking and it won't boot. I left it to charge for two hours and it still has the blinking camera light and even though the Windows button vibrates, there is nothing on the screen. I have tried to power off and on, I have tried to hold down power and volume down for 70 seconds (both numerous times now) with no luck. It seems to have bricked, minus the blinking light and vibrating windows key. Anyone else have any suggestions? I really would hate to return it cause last time had a problem AT&T tried to screw me over with sending a used device instead of the new one I paid for.

Wow - that was sarcastic ! lol
I think as with all if not most of Nokia's mobiles, later revisions of firmware would fix most of the problems - the hardware works.
It's pretty hard for a company as large as Nokia to be able to pick out of the plethora of customers that call them with issues which are the actual "proper" issues and which are due to 3rd party ones (either user or 3rd party apps) as there are more layers for the data to get through to. Ironically smaller companies can respond quicker in these scenarios as there is less bureaucracy to deal with.
They have been taking steps to rectify this by releasing the Phone Software Updater which I feel is a massive step in the right direction and have been testing customer reaction and feedback to this in these forums for quite a while.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Nokia is perfect - nobody is - and I do feel Nokia should work closely with more customers who are more "knowledgeable" to solve issues and be seen to take a proactive attitude, but having worked in customer support previously I have also encountered the type of customer who is ALWAYS right and insists on using their mobile in a certain way which it wasn't designed for ... (akin to some PC users using their CD ROM drives as cup holders - and believe me they do exist !)
Anyway to bring this post back to the subject - I'd be very happy to have a N95 to play with .. I mean use ... gimme gimme gimme .. I'll take it even if it does have bugs

  • Problem In using Nokia PC Suite with the new Nokia...

My Nokia Ahs 310 is a new phone I bought and I tried with it to connect internet through my PC using Nokia PC Suite. But, when I connect phone to the PC it tells that it can't find the drivers and install the new device. And in someyimes in Nokia PC Suite it showed as "connected in non compatible USB".
However I can't log into internet using my Nokia Asha 310. Please help me in this regard.

scoobyman, I think KRNS tries to use his Nokia 310 as modem for his computer. Consequently, no Wi-Fi involved.

This does not affect the Nokia 310 but only Nokia Asha 501, Nokia 301, Nokia 210, and the Nokia 206 – because my Nokia 310 works with Nokia Suite and PC Suite perfectly. Furthermore, The Nokia 301 was tested with the PC Suite successfully. Same for the Nokia 206. Success reports for the Nokia 210 are still missing.

install the latest Nokia Suite. This install the latest Connectivity Cable Driver automatically. Then
install the latest PC Suite (I like its modem handling more)
Nokia 310 » SIM Manager » choose SIM1 (at least for data)
PC Suite » Menu » File » Connect to the Internet
Works here with my Nokia 310, just tested for you. However, I was not able to use SIM2 for the computer. If neither PC Suite nor Nokia Suite worked for you, please say so!

Does it get sorted if you uninstall the subject application ? If so..the problem lies with the application and not the phone ...
..but before that confirm that you are connected to the Internet .. You may try after rebooting the phone. Also un-install and re-install the application and try again ..
