Maploader on phone doesnt recognise my wifi, even before. I tryed to reinstal phone belle software, maps application are  updated, tryed different computers.. Did you confirm by launching the Maps on your phone that the Maps are not installed ? In an earlier version of Maps this was the case on my Nokia 5800xm. Though the Maps were downloaded and installed on the phone Nokia Suite showed there aren't any..but in fact they were and I could use them without any issues...This was however corrected in the later updates..
THIS is for reference ..

    This is correct.
iphone will sync with one library at a time.  Syncing to a new one will indeed erase the current content.
Just put everything on the new hard drive from your backup copy and sync your iphone.

  • Nokia Suite does NOT backup map favorites. Belle u...

I recently updated my E7-00 from Anna to Belle and lost all my map favorites in the process.
Although I did a full backup of my phone before the update I have since found out that Nokia Suite does not backup map favorites.
The Belle update did NOT make a copy of my map favorites, it wiped them out completely.
Nowhere have I seen that information before.  When I updated to Anna I did not lose my map favorites.
There should be a warning about this before starting the Belle update.
The Belle Update FAQ states that after the update one of the things one can do immediately is access map favorites - NOT!
I have since learned, by searching online, that I am expected to sync my map favorites online with a Nokia server.  I do not want to store my confidential information on someone else's server.  Additionally, I don't pay for data service because it is so expensive here in Canada.  So I would have to connect my phone via USB to my PC.
Nokia Suite backs up my contacts, photos, music, documents, etc.  Why not my map favorites?  In fact I store my music, photos, documents, and even contact information separate from my phone so I don't need Nokia Suite for that.  But how do I copy my GPS coordinates off my phone for backup?
2nd level tech support suggested I recreate them all by browsing the maps on my phone and selecting the locations.  That is so inaccurate, time consuming, and wrong.  Supposedly they have passed my problem onto 3rd level tech support.
Does anyone know if one can import map coordinates into a symbian phone?  I have many of the locations stored in another GPS application on a laptop.  I can export them from there.  That would be a partial solution.
    Thanks.
Note: cross posted under Discussions Main Page > Software > Nokia Suite

I might suggest a Wi-Fi connection for access to the 'net, but let me assume that storing anything on a different server is not an option.  So, what remains...
The least expensive, and simplest, method would be for you to buy any second Nokia phone that runs Nokia Maps.  I use Nokia's Phone Switch technology to transfer all my maps data to a second phone.  I'll have to do it again, so I can give you specific instructions on the "how", but the bottom line is it does work.
As to importing and exporting GPS Coordinates, I learned by accident that you can enter favorites by using GPS coordinates - and can also find the coordinates for something you have already entered.
A free program that I think is invaluable for using Maps on a Nokia, especially the N8, is "LeGPSData2".  I used their older version for years, until the certificate expired and I was unable to upload it to my N8, but the new version is considerably better.  You might find a way to do other things you mentioned with that program - and if not, you might suggest them (import/export) to the program author.
If you are as careful as you suggest you are, don't you have backups that you've already done on your PC?  Have you tried to find your GPS data in those backups?
I can't speak for others, but regardless of what Nokia saiys would or woud not happen during the phone update, I don't "trust" any of it.  I did my own backups two ways, as a complete bacakup on the PC, and as a phone backup on the memory card.  I "think" but can't confirm, that the GPS data was backed up by both of them.
You're right - Nokia should fix the Belle installation script to also backup and re-install the maps data, if there is something wrong, but on my phone it did it all correctly following their instructions (in addition to my other backups, which I never needed).
If I get some free time, I'll see if I can get the import/export to work using Maps and LeGPSData2.  It would be nice to do this to one location, multiple locations, or all locations.  It would be nice to send this data to another phone directly, or to save it as a file.

  • Nokia C6-01 cant upgrade to Symbian Belle from Sym...

Pls advise me how to solve this problem cause i cant upgrade my C6-01 to Symbian Belle using Nokia Suite 3.3.89.

First check whether Nokia belle is available for your phone's product come and region. Check belle availability page of Nokia Europe's website. If its available, try updating with the latest Nokia suite. Check whether your antivirus is blocking connection to your Nokia suite. Refresh repeatedly for the update to appear. Try advancing the date a few days or weeks and check again. If nothing works, take your phone to Nokia care and they'll update it for you. All the best.

  • NOKIA Australia BELLE (i now have my doubts)

so its been a while since we have herd from the nokia team in australia about the rollout of belle. at the curent time all my sources have gone mums the word.. but the thing that makes me think we wont get bell till after the lumia phones have been launched in australia. my thoughts behind this come from the fact that he who must not be named tells me that the generic version of belle for au doesnt exist, yet the new zeland one is alive and well.

I think what Andrew is saying here, is that whilst you may own your phone, and can do what you like with your phone, including smashing it if you want. You are always at the mercy of the phone manufacturer ( no matter who that is), and your service is always own by the carrier. The idea that we are the ones holding all the cards is no longer true for the most part. In this case it is always up to Nokia as what you get, they decide if they will produce an update, they will decide if and when you get it, even how you will get it. All firmware changes have to comply with telecommunication rules, and it the carriers that are responsible for making sure any mobile that runs on their networks comply.so even here you are at the mercy cf the telcos, if they don't want to test it or even just pass it , as compliant then you don't get it. You will never truly own your phone or the phone service. None of us have any control anymore, because it really doesn't matter what phone you use, you will still have the same issue
If that is what you are willing to accept then that is exactly what you deserve.
smart customers understand the relationship and how customer driven market forces make
and break companies. this is nothing new... either they meet our needs or they cease to exist.
believing that you have no choice only prolongs bad management and stifles real change.
one exception or instance does not define the relationship.
when someone tolerates your lies do you stop ? no it seems to work
when someone sells you a faulty product and you accept it ...will they fix it ? no
If you what to believe you have no choice then you deserve what you get... nothing
sorry but this negative / downtrodden i cant do anything is why things are where they are at.
If you are looking for instant gratification then this will not help you (nothing will by the way)
But actively driving companies to improve their products does produce better products.
not all the companies may be in business in the end.
As they say " you can be part of the solution or part of the problem"
You will note that i did say for the most part we are not the ones holding the cards.
That is not to say that we dont complain when something is wrong or that we dont say what it is we want. check out some of my post on the lumia 800/900 and the new 808/pureview. If we dont say what is wrong nothing will get fixed.
And at no point did I say that we should just sit back and take what is given to us. I did say that we will get what Nokia and others wants to give to us. They are 2 entirely different things. Unfortunately as it stands at this very moment in time, the carriers do have the power to decide not to allow something, that part possible wont change, but that is not to say that we dont apply pressure to make them either reconsider or to change the way that they exercise their powers. You have to also understand that it is not always just the companies that may cause us issues, but the government and their relevant departments as well. I'm not saying that we cannot change things. You only have to look at what happened when Nokia initially decided not to supply the update to Australia, It was people like Andrew and others including myself who rang and spoke to nokia and the carriers. It was all of us that has managed to at least get the update process being looked at for Australia.
I'm afraid that you cannot just go and say "I dont like that , so its changed", you have to work with the cards that we have, used them the best way possible. Sometimes this will get you only a little way further ahead, and sometimes you can make big steps ahead.
As in a game of poker you are not the one that has all the cards, there are other players and you have to work at playing the best hand you can. And to be niave about it, and just say to them we control you, so you will do what we want,  will get you absolutely nowhere.
When I was very young about 8yo (i'm 45 now), we used to have the local baker come round our street in a little truck, selling their hot bread and rolls and cakes etc straight out of the truck. Best bread you could buy as far as I am concerned. They provided the best servcice, they knew your name. If something happened and you didnt leave out some money, but always got a loaf on that day. They would always leave the loaf for you anyway, and you would fix it up next time...Where are they now.? They are gone thats where. You want bread now you go to the supermarket. I totally understand market forces and the direction that everything is going. The service based industries cannot cope with the large corporations, and no matter how much we would like that kind of service again, you simply wont see that again.
Your right telling companies our wants and needs does drive them to produce what we want, but always at a cost. A cost that has to be balanced. Look at apple, they balance their costs by giving everyone the same mobile phone. Telcos love them, They get 1 update to test every 12 months or so, and have to supply no service to the units. Everyone is just referred back to apple. Nokia on the other hand try to produce several different handset every year,  All requiring different updates, all being tested at different time of the year, all requiring more time to sell on behalf of the telco staff. Apple profits are soaring and nokia who are trying to provide everything to everyone, have dropping profits.
So i do understand how things work and the economies of scale with business, I also understand that the biggest thing driving all of this, is not wants or needs or who has the most products. It the company that provides the biggest convenience to their customers. Why do customers stay with certain finance lenders even when they know they are paying more than some other lender down the road, Convenience (also known as laziness). Complaining about something is not convenient.
Oh by the way the more you complain the less you are heard. Maybe you have heard that before. Sometimes you need to accept things before you can change them. And if you cant accept how things are ( which is all I tried to illustrate previously), then you will never have any understanding of how to change them.

Sorry post appears slightly ambiguous, are you saying your N8 still restarts for no apparent reason without installing OVI Maps v3.06 from Nokia Beta Labs to replace the pre-installed v3.04 that has been deleted by "hard reset"?

  • Cant get into my phone

A friend of mine has put a security pin onto my phone. I have to enter this pin number to read messages make phone calls ect. Problem is I dont know it and the friend in question did this when I dropped him at the airport to go on a Holiday for 5 months. So I cant use my phone and I have no way of contacting him, Cant anybody suggest something that I can do. I cant live without my phone.

If it's asking for a pin code then contact your network operator as this is a sim card code and they can easily reset it.
If it's a security code then all you can do is take it to a nokia care point and ask them to reset it. They will need to see proof of ownership to ensure that you are it's rightful owner and that it's not a stolen handset.
That is all that you can do if you are unable to contact your "friend".

Hi i have a NOKIA 500 BELLE and in my app PHOTO EDITOR i have hundreds of photos i dont want and its taking up alot of memory is there anyway to delet thoes photos?

    Hi lesliejansen,
The pictures displayed in your phone's Photo Editor application are the same as the ones in your gallery. They are not a copy of the pictures, they are the displays of the same files from the memory. If you would like to free some memory space, I advise you to delete the unwanted pictures from the gallery. Once deleted, these pictures will not be displayed in the gallery or in the Photo Editor app anymore.

  • Nokia 700 belle fp2 voip

I configured Voip on Nokia 700 belle fp2 with the guide from this page. I prefer 3G connection so I set packet data connection over 3G and enabled AWCDMA setting in VoIP service settings. Like in the guide. I can make calls. Sound quality is excellent on booth sides. But I'm not reachable over VOIP. My phone doesn't make any signs when I try to call it. I quadruple check to be sure that every profile entry has been made correctly. I reconfigure settings for wifi connection and trying to establish connection over wifi bat the problem resist. My voip provider doesn't make any restrictions. Is there any explanation or better solution for this problem.

I find this document  from year 2002. I capture the registering data and incoming call data with wireshark. I find out that my voip provider has problem with Call-ID header. While registering they answer with right Call-ID header. When I get incoming call the Call-ID header is not the same. There is no malfunction. The call is dropped with 404 not found.

  • Nokia care Belle software update

To put it bluntly, I would like to know how long would it take for Nokia Care to update belle to my N8?
Being a pre-order customer for the N8, I also had a faulty unit which was replaced and has the code 059B656. Althought I think it is unfair to make us go to nokia care just to get the update considering we were one of the first to purchase the n8.
What's done is done. I don't have good experiences at nokia care and prefer to do things on my own. The bottom piece of my N8 broke early on and a replacement was supposed to take 3-4 hours. I insisted if it takes that long just provide me the new piece and I'll install it myself. Well after some hassling they managed to get it done in 1 hour. To unscrew the broken piece, screw in a new piece and a bit of paper work and putting things in the parts bin (I assume).
My friends N8 took 2 weeks to come back from a swap, mine took 1 week to come back from a swap. I'd rather not be without my phone. A simple thing such as a software update I hope someone from Nokia can guarantee maximum of 1 1/2 hours to install provided there are not many customers. I am a tolerable person.
what's done is done. Lets move on to the most critical question:
Has anyone updated their N8 to belle at an NCC yet? Please highlight your experience.

Well, I was in a jolly mood and planned my day around the expected 3 hours. So sent in my N8 first person as it opened at 10am. Sat at starbucks for 3 hours doing my work thanks to long life of the asus notebook. Collected at 1pm. Belle is now on my phone. I'm worried now, what about other updates? Will the swap unit still be able to do OTA and Nokia Suite updates? My wifes unit is not a swap unit and recently had important updates to her phone, of which I didn't have any.
I sure won't want to lose another 3 hours + few more hours restoring apps and data for future updates.

  • Can i format the drive to ntfs - cant save large files

i bought the TimeCapsole Extreeme AC but i cant save large files - can i format the drives to NTFS??
is there any other soultion to this?
    Tx

The thing is that in windows its a map drive that i can see the files but cant save large files(more then 4GB)
Ok.. I am rather shocked but of course the problem is entirely windows.. The drive is formatted HFS+ and a 3TB drive has no file size limitation other than the drive size.
Windows for some stupid reason when it maps drives has decided it must be FAT32 and applied that.
Get rid of the drive mapping.. !!
Try accessing it via network.. ie
\\TCIPaddress and see if you can get around the 4GB file size barrier. If not I will take another look at the problem.. although I have to say windows is windows..
It should see the TC as a NT Server and have no file size limitation at all.
