Nokia E6 Belle - network connections

Hi y'all.
I initially had purchased a Nokia E5 last Christmas, but it broke so Nokia traded it for a Nokia E72 - which was supposed to be new but had really weird flaws regarding call connections and the flash LED was useless, so they traded it for an E6...
Been getting used to it over the past weeks, but I still have a lot of doubts regarding certain aspects.
Like, why does the music player suck so badly? I don't want my music organized by albums, I prefer song names. And I want to search my music library by song name...what's with all the crazy obvious flaws?? Meh. Good thing I have an Mp3 device anyway.
The thing bugging me now is this - I have deactivated (I think!) the usage of internet from my service provider, so I'll only go online in wireless mode when I want to. Don't wanna be spending my precious euros by accidentally logging into Nokia Store through my SIM card's internet service. -___-
But I'm not sure if my phone is constantly searching for internet or not. Because in the status bar, right next to the symbols for signal and battery, is another symbol. It's a beacon of sorts, with little waves on each side (is it supposed to appear unless my phone is searching wireless networks by default?), and obviously it changes into a bunch of little waves that show me the force of the WLan connection whenever I chose to link to it.
I don't want it to go "wireless-hunting" solo, I want it to go ONLY when I tell it to, by using the widget or sliding that quick access menu on top. I want to be in control of my battery life, so to speak, as much as possible. xD
Do you thin that the little beacon symbol is normal even though I haven't told the phone to search for wireless? I don't think that is showed when I first started up the phone...only after my first WLan connection. I think.
This E6 came automatically in Belle, when I picked it up from Nokia.
It **bleep** me off that it sometimes crashes, freezes, and the qwerty keyboard won't work (except for the cardinal and asterisk buttons) unless I restart the phone. I wonder why it crashes like that, because qwerty won't work but all other buttons do, and touch screen as well.

E6 Manual in spanish
Belle version...
Perhaps you prefer it in spanish (more people speak spanish than english in the world).
Otherwise, search on *****
About your problem with icons for wlan, just tap it off on the screen when scrolling down the window on main window.
Should solve that icon appereance that is annoying you.
I think that icon you mention is available wlan. Stop scanning by tapping wlan to off.
Have to rush now...

  • Nokia C7 - Three Network - Connection Failed - Cer...

    Hi there Guys...
Recently updated my Nokia C7 to latest version of Nokia Belle (111.030.0609), Im on the Three UK network and noticed some issues with certain app and the latest versional to Nokia Social, updated from Nokia Suite.
The problem seems to effect apps that have a widget that can be displayed on the Home Screens...  I have similar issues with a number of other apps like Accuweather, National Geographic and Sky Sports...  I am sure there are more, but have removed them from my phone.
I just get "Failed Conections" or "Connection Unavailable" and the app will not load or open.  Just to confirm I have tried been connected to my Wi-Fi and just using the internet signal from Three.  I have a perfect signal and can use other apps over the internet without an issue, but the moment I open the above mentioned apps I just get the error and the apps are un-useable.
If I use Nokia Social that came with Belle and not update it, this seems to work, but the other apps don't.
Is this an issue just effecting Nokia C7's locked to the Three UK network (with its firmware) or other users too?
Does anyone know how to over come this?
I have tried re-installing the firmware numerous times, resetting and reverting back to factor settings and delting all data.
I have emailed Nokia Support and they haven't been very helpful, just telling me to do the above and will not confirm if there is an issue with this phone on the three network.  They have then told me to visit a Nokia Support Centre, but this not an option, as I purchased the phone off eBay and the seller does not have the receipts to provide the Centre with proof of purchase.

I have this same problem, all was working fine until I updated things. Has anyone found a solution for this, I also reinstalled my phone back to basics and basically had nothing on it, still hasn't fixed the problem. I have tried using wifi, Three's mobile data etc to connect, and nothing. As previous person, I can connected to the internet through other apps and the web icon but not social AT ALL.
    C'mon Nokia, sort it out!!

  • Nokia 2700 loss network connection!

On the new phone Nokia 2700 classic (after official upgrade to firmware ver. 09.95) periodically disappears icon of a signal of a network, after a while phone show the message "Error of registration of a sim card" and an inscription "there is no service" on the screen. After disappearance of the indicator of a network it is impossible to make a call and to fulfil USSD-inquiry, while on other phone (other brand) with a SIM-card of the same operator the network works absolutely normally. The network appears only after device reboot, hand-held search of a network does not help even. Network miss is often observed at attempt to be connected to EDGE, also the signal can disappear and itself, without what or my operations, in a standby mode. Replacement of a SIM-card has not given any result. Phone works in a range 1800 MHz.
Somebody faced such problem? If it is linked to a bug in upgrade when it is possible to expect the new version from Nokia?

nokia dont give release dates for firmware
    try a factory restore

  • Nokia reader network connection

I installed Nokia Reader on N8 (Belle) from betalabs, added a few feeds, and it seemed to work fine. However even when the program is set to 'offline' and then closed, it keeps my network connection alive, which obviously drains battery, costs money etc. etc.
Even when the connection is then closed via the pull-down menu it will immediately reconnect. Same if the phone is rebooted, it persists with trying to stay online.
The only way to break the connection is to uninstall Reader, and then connection is off, and normality restored.
I've tried re-installing it but problem persists.
Any ideas why it's doing this? Is there anything else in the applications listing that I could uninstall which would totally 'reset' Reader and let me install fresh working version?
I'd like to add that all my network settings are correct, and phone works perfectly with all other apps (without Reader installed) and it goes on/offline exactly when required.
    Any advice appreciated, Martyn.

    Fixed by 10.4.4

  • E6 Belle dropping network connection

HI, I got my E6 just before Belle came out and upgraded after waiting a month or so for any issues to become apparent.
Every now and then the network connection lines become broken and I am no longer able to access the internet.  I spent an hour on the phone with network provider (T-mobile in UK), switched the sim into my old phone and it worked fine.  Restarted the phone a few times.  I played with the network settings and changing it from 'dual mode' to 3g or to GSM got it back up and running.  The problem happened again several times and I left it on GSM and didn't have any problems for a while, but now it's happening again and more often.
It happens regardless of location and at no apparent specific intervals.  Assistance would be great, I've been loving the phone and planning to have it for a long time, but I use it for work and need to get email!

VZ can only  "look" as far as their own equipment, meaning they can see whether you are correctly provisioned, supplied, drawing bandwidth, etc.  They cannot see your end of the equipment assembly, of course.
What it sounds like is that one or more  pieces of gear and equipment are not functioning correctly all of the time.  This is often due to poor or faulty connections in the cables, intermittent faults and gaps, etc.   Therefore the first course of action is to check and reset all cables (yes, it's likely that you've already done this, but just for drill, do it once again!).
Having done that, you should devise a test that allows you to insert one piece of gear into the network at a time.  Start with the router and only a single computer, for example.  Wired is probably best at first to see what happens (yes, these tests take time, but there's no way around it).  If that assembly works consistently, try a wireless connection next.  Record the results.
Next I would add back a single STB (of any type) and see if the TV system is OK.  Finally I would add back the remaining devices one at a time and observe the results.  Somewhere along the way you will encounter the offender, but if you do not and if the gear now functions per specification, your time won't have been wasted.  Good luck.

  • Network Connection in Nokia 3220 help..

Anybody who tried network connection in Nokia 3220? I already tried HttpConnection, StreamConnection and ContentConnection to download a simple txt file but none of them succeeded :(

I suspect that the VM is to bussy printing your dots, and has not time to serve other threads.
Put a delay inside the while loop, I guess it will start working then.

  • Nokia 6086 fails to connect to any wi-fi network

My wife and I both have Nokia 6086 phones. We have been unable to connect to any wi-fi network. The phones recognise the networks but when I press the 'connect' button I get the message 'network connection failed'. I get the same result whether I'm using my home network, with appropriate security settings, or an unsecured public network. So far, neither Orange nor Nokia have been able to fix the problem. Can anyone advise how I can connect?

I was having this problem for a while and T-Mobile told me that the wifi radio needed to be reset and the fastest and easiest way to do this was to pull the battery when the phone is up and running. Next attempt, I could get on wifi no prob.
I was skeptical, but it worked for me. (But only after I manually backed up my important SMS to AIM through copy & paste.)

  • Nokia N8 Belle Refresh

Here in New Zealand I upgraded my Nokia N8 to from Belle to  Belle Refresh today (Product Code 0598797 - Chinese).
    1) Nokia Suite was full of information about what the upgrade would do.
    2) Nokia Suite also told me what I could lose, and suggested that some Apps may be lost.
    3) The upgrade proceeded smoothly, well within the 30 minutes or so it suggested it may take, and restarted the phone.
    4) It came up with the default colours and default number of home screens, and in Chinese. A quick couple of taps to put it back into English, and then around ten minutes to re-instate my home screens, shortcuts, and widgets, and voila, an upgraded phone.
    5) It seems smoother, snappier in the Browser, and an improved set of features within the music player.
    6) the Space on C: has improved by around 28MB.
Well done Nokia. This is so appreciated for a phone that had the first generation of Symbian ^3.
I travel a lot with my business, and nowadays take just the N8, as I find it's camera sufficient for my needs. When I go somewhere exotic I take my HD VideoCam of course, and my SLR, but in general the N8 does what I want. Coming back home, it's simply plugin via HDMI and show my family the pics. On my Travel, the GPS, both Drive and Walk is a God-send, and very reliable.
Having watched the saga of Nokia mishandle the Symbian "burning platform" intentions, by prematurely announcing it's death, and then killing off Meego just as it started to show some ability in at least shoring up the share price and retaining Nokia market share for another twelve months, I started to become doubtful about Nokia's ability to survive.
I nearly bought a Pureview 808 but decided to wait, and being in the IT industry, I knew it would be crazy to go for a Win 7 Lumia product. Having seen the specs on the Lumia 920, I am confident that if I wait for a succesor to the Lumia 920, there might be a phone worth having.
I love HDMI, I love the removable micro SD-Card, and I use both a lot. Any phone without these N8 features would be retro-grade!
So Nokia, when you bring out a Lumia with all the hardware features you have taught me to love on my Symbian, then I will upgrade. But in the meantime, you did such a good job with the N8, and Nokia Belle, that I am confident it will last until you do bring out a phone that really is an upgrade.
Kudos for Nokia Belle Refresh in the meantime - you have bought some brand loyalty for the Interim.

Having sold my Lumia I bought 808 PureView, owned previously N8. In my view, Symbian Belle is a great system, much better than Windows Phone and you do not need to sacrifice your privacy as much as with WP. The only one thing I wish Nokia could improve, is the speed of reading emails, web browsing and installation of apps from Ovi Store. I do not know why it still so slow as 808 PureView has double fast processor clock compared to N8?
And unfortunately 808 PureView still has a bug they introduced with Symbian Belle - bluetooth connection with some hands-free car devices do not work correctly, eg. with Bury CC9045 V04. You do not hear the first incoming call, need to drop it and wait for a second call.
Apart from above, it is a great phone!

  • Adobe version checker : Network connection failed

    Hello all,
I recently wanted to try the new "Adobe Mobile Packager" to publish a FL application.
I succeeded in making the .sis file, with an empty certificate. When installing the .sis application, all went fine.
But when I wanted to launch it, it asked me to install the "new" other "Adobe Version Checker" application... but when it tried to connect, i have a great "network connection failed" prompting to me. and the application could not be launched.
Any idea to solve this ?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the feedback.
The device is a Nokia N95 8Go. The network I want to connect to is SFR
    (French Network).
I didn't try with another network like Orange or Bouygues, I can try
this and report you the result.

  • N70 Unable to establish network connection using p...

. . . but can browse the net using handset alone; PC suite can do other functions but OTA is not able to connect. This happened after I downloaded the latest PC Suite 7. Recommendation of FAQ/Help is to check connections settings (duh) and have cooperated with instructions. Nope, didnt work. Have tried:
Uninstall; install of PC Suite to the letter 5x
    Reset phone to factory settings
Use settings wizard to ensure proper internet settings
Was recommended download usb cable driver - link is non existent
Tested using a different N70 unit on my laptop - still no go (now doesnt that mean there is a software issue????)
Most of the help desk tips at the call center are stop gap and rarely meant to go the distance assisting you (like when a blanket fix is recommended - go to service center to have phone software upgraded) or the standard spiel of "we'll put your case on record and we'll call you back in hours" and sometimes they do call back or not. So far in my case none of the tips have worked. I am about to reformat my pc, and if this doesnt work, then what can we say about the problem? Did we get a dud PC Suite, a lemon, a beta version?
How then can I browse the net using my mobile as modem? I guess I am venting my frustrations here - but hey, may I challenge Nokia to find a fix for connectivity issues related to use of a Nokia Phone as a modem? Check out the discussions and you will find similar issues echoed all over. Or is Nokia just waiting for one of us indomitable tinkerers to find a solution and share it in these discussions?

I REFORMATTED MY PC TO SEE IF IT IS A PROBLEM WITH MY LAPTOP SOFTWARE. I AM STILL UNABLE TO ESTABLISH NETWORK CONNECTION USING MY PHONE AS A MODEM. IT SAYS CHECK CONNECTION SETTINGS, BUT HOW FAR CAN YOU GO WITH THAT? THE CONNECTION SETTINGS ARE FINE! I CAN BROWSE THE NET USING THE HANDSET ALONE, SO WHAT GIVES? I CHALLENGE NOKIA TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

I configured Voip on Nokia 700 belle fp2 with the guide from this page. I prefer 3G connection so I set packet data connection over 3G and enabled AWCDMA setting in VoIP service settings. Like in the guide. I can make calls. Sound quality is excellent on booth sides. But I'm not reachable over VOIP. My phone doesn't make any signs when I try to call it. I quadruple check to be sure that every profile entry has been made correctly. I reconfigure settings for wifi connection and trying to establish connection over wifi bat the problem resist. My voip provider doesn't make any restrictions. Is there any explanation or better solution for this problem.
    Solved!

I find this document  from year 2002. I capture the registering data and incoming call data with wireshark. I find out that my voip provider has problem with Call-ID header. While registering they answer with right Call-ID header. When I get incoming call the Call-ID header is not the same. There is no malfunction. The call is dropped with 404 not found.

  • Nokia 5800 Wi-fi connectivity - No Gateway reply P...

Me & my friend bought 5800. While connecting WIFI i am receiving No Gateway repy where as my friend able to connect. I had checked all possible options with my friends mobile. Kindly help regarding Wifi as what i am doing wrong.

No Gateway Reply for the 5800.
After spending days trying to sort this problem i think I have cracked it. 1. follow the instructions someone posted to enter the phone ip address, should be different to computers ip. then enter subnet same as pc then the gateway ip same as pc. the only real difference with my solution is that you have to enter the dns addresses as well, same as pc .
I am using XP open network connection, select the wireless network, on the left select view statusof this connection, tab will open, select support , then click details and youdns server numbers are displayed.  Enter these in phone setting in.
I am using linksys WRT54GS, I dont have this problem with a netgear router at my friends, that connects streight away, without internal config of phone.
    Hope it helps

    Hello Guys!
After browsing the net for some time Ive found a fix for the "No Gateway reply" message when trying to access the internet!
Its also fix's the BBC iPlayer! (Atleast it did on my phone!)
I dont know if its already been posted?
    Ok so here goes!
ENSURE YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTION IS SET TO PRIORITY:1 on your n96
1st) On your phone go to..
menu tools settings connection Wireless Lan Options Advanced Settings
    Disable "Automatic Configuration"
    & Disable "Power Saving"
2nd) On your phone go to..
menu tools settings connection destinations Internet
On your wireless network Name (PRIORITY:1 obviously i dont know what that may be)
options edit advanced settings IPv4 settings options Change
all the detais can be copied from your computer. To find them on your computer go to Start Run
Type "cmd" in the run box
when you get the command screen type "ipconfig/all" here you will get all the settings.
The settings the phone needs is
1.Phone IP Address (enter your computer IP address, changing the last two digits to a number about five or six higher than than the original IP, for eg if my IP was 123.654.768.34 id put the ip in my phone as 123.654.768.39 to stop IP conflict)
2.Subnet Mask (copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
    3. Default Gateway (copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
    4. DNS Address (Usually called "DNS Servers" on your computer! copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
ENSURE ALL NUMBERS ARE IN THE CORRECT PLACES BEFORE AND AFTER THE "."
Then exit all, Turn off your phone and turn it back on again! And all should be up and running!!
Hope this helps! I know how much time i spent looking for the fix!

  • OS update 10.1.0.4181 - No longer have mobile network connections

I'm having issues after I tried updating my BB Q10 to 10.1.0.4181. I received a notification indicating that there is a device software update so I did a backup of my Q10 with Blackberry Link before the update. When I did the update, I did not unplug my phone from the power source, it restarted and was stuck on the blackberry logo for a couple of hours. I tried turning it off and it wouldn't so I did a battery pull. Unfortunately, I didn't know that you shouldn't do this on BB10. I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, but now I cannot connect to the mobile network. When I go to the network connections, it won't let me turn it on. According to my phone settings, I still have the old version of the software, so the update didn't even take. Please, can somebody (in layman's terms) tell me what I should do? I would prefer not losing everything on my phone and I know the Blackberry Link backups can be sketchy. Would it be better to go to a Bell store and have them take a look at it or should I try restoring the backup, resetting my phone? I don't know my best option and I also will need a bit of hand-holding if possible to tell me how to reset my phone if this is the case. Thanks for your help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I figured it out. I would suggest to anybody that they do not do the update over the air, but rather connect to Blackberry Link on your laptop and load the update through there. I redid the update through Blackberry Link and now my phone is back to normal.
