Nokia E6 doesnt show caller names

Hi , after I updated my Nokia E6 to the recent software, it doesnt show the callers names when receiving a call and when receiving an sms. I have to save the same number twice, once with international prefix example +963 (thats for my home country)  and once without. When receiving calls it show the name only if saved without the prefix
(unless its an international call) and when receiving sms it shows the name only when its saved with the international prefix. I didnt have that problem before the update!
My current software:
Symbian Anna
Software version: 022.014
Date: 2011-07-05
custom version: 022.014.00.01
language set: 022.014.35.01
Model E6-00
Please your help would be much appreciated!

Hi again,
Here is the solution I found online and which solved my issue :
- Back up all your contacts with Ovi Suite
- Delete all your contacts from phone
- Restore all contacts from Ovi Suite
- Restart phone (actually it should restart itself automatically)
It should be working fine. Check if you have numbers saved on your SIM card, because this can cause duplicate numbers in the Contacts.
Please excuse my English
Please excuse my English, as this is not my native language.

  • Not showing Caller Name on E51

I have upgrade software but after that my phone not showing caller name on the screen. Before upgrading my phone was shwoing caller name when I received call. my all phone numbers are on SIM , can some body let me know how this will work or its setting.

The problem may be, that you have all your contacts on the SIM card and on the phone as well. Is that possible?
Duplicate matches for a specific phone number lead to not showing a phone number at all...
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • SBH52 don't show caller name when reciving a call

when i recive a phone call it show the caller name with squares, but in the call log it show the name correctly.
    the names are in Hebrew.
    what can be the problem?

Okay, because the way I understood it Hebrew was not supposed to be supported but it seems that it is.
Have you noticed if there is any specific letter that the problem occurs?
You can also try to reinstall the software on your SBH52 via Update Service:

Download and install SUS on your PC, follow the instructions that appear.

  • Nokia N8 Belle does not show caller name

I can't get my phone to show names for people that are calling, I know there are already loads of topics about this, but none of the suggestions could fix my problem.
    Keyfacts:
    - Nokia N8 with Chinese Firmware (Belle)
    - All contacts are synchronized with GMail via Exchange ActiveSync (Mail for Exchange)
    - All contacts are saved with proper international prefix (e.g. +44..., +36...)
    - It displays the number when someone calls, so not a network issue
    - Name resolving works for text messages (except once, but rebooting fixed it)
    - It works for calls when someone from another country is calling
    - There are duplicate numbers in my phone book, but it doesn't work with the non duplicate ones either
    - There are no numbers on the SIM and phone memory only is selected
    What I tried:
    - Reboot
    - Hard reset (the actual hard reset using the three buttons, not the code)
    - Reflashing
It would be great if anyone has any ideas what to try next.

i have got the same problem on my Nokia n8 after upgrading it from authorised Nokia centre

  • Nokia x6 doesnt show name or number when i recieve...

It looks like am getting a private number call or something. its really annoying me. just got the phone 2 days ago. anyone got a sollution?

Sounds like Caller ID has not been activated. Contact your network and request they check the status of Caller ID on your account.

  • Nokia 2310-not displaying caller name

I've just bought a Nokia 2310 as they're very cheap as a standby phone but have a problem. I've copied the numbers from my simcard to the phone but if someone calls the phone, when it rings it only displays the number and not the name. This is obviously pointless as I would never know who's calling and makes missed calls a nightmare.
    What have I done wrong?

The number in your phonebook has to match the one which is calling EXACTLY. So not 0489/235647 for instance, but you need to enter this number as +33489/235647 in your phonebook (the sign is important too). +33 is the country number of course.
If you're still not sure, save the number from messages you have recieved and enter that in your phonebook. Doing this will ensure that the messenger's or caller's name is displayed.
This is something I feel the manual should have adressed. You have no idea how much this **bleep** me off, until I found it a day later.
    k thx

  • UCCX 8.5.1 - Cisco Supervisor Desktop not showing Caller Names

    Hello,
I have recently done a deployement for UCCX 8.5.1. I have been made aware of an issue where iif a Cisco Supervisor Desktop is looking at a Agent that is on a call, the Callers name is not bening shown in the Caler Name field, instead the callers extension is being displayed. Has anyone else experienced this or is this one for TAC?
Here is an example of what I mean.
This is the view on the UCCX Supervisor screen when an agent is taking a service desk call.  How can we configure it to display the name alongside the number?  I know that 1380 is Paul A Smith, and 1552 is Nicola Turvill?
    Thanks for your time.

    Check the troubleshooting guide.

  • E71 doesn't show caller's name

Today I noticed that my E71 doesn't show any names when somebody calls me, neither does it show any names with text messages (SMS). It shows just the number.
It doesn't show any name, I tried it with 10+ different people, both calling and texting.
I have no duplicates in my address-book. I didn't add anything in the last 3 days. Yesterday everything worked just fine. I have no '(unnamed)' entries in my address-book either. No empty entries either. I didn't sync my phone with my pc (via Nokia PC Suite) since last week.
I tried the short codes for incoming caller ID:
Incoming CLI Presentation (you see the caller's number)
    Allow: *30#[GREEN CALL KEY]
    Prevent: #30#[GREEN CALL KEY]
    Query default: *#30#[GREEN CALL KEY]
The Query default gave back that it does show CLI. Just to be sure I've sent the Allow code once more. It confirms that it now does show CLI.
It does show the number, but it doesn't show the name.
    My provider is Telfort (Dutch).
    All help / information appreciated!

Have you numbers stored on the sim card? If there is no duplication whatsoever, and none of the other suggestions in the link I posted you helps, then the only other thing I can suggest is to reset your phone and see if that works. Only thing is that wipes all yout data so you need to backup and restore.

  • N8 not showing the name of the contact calling

    Hi All,
I have seen a strange issue with N8. I have never experienced this with any other Nokia phones that I have been using. Not sure if others have noticed it. Here is what I have experienced:
At times, I have seen that when I receive a call from the person who is already added in my contact list, the phone is just displaying the number and not the name of the person. When I check the Log, it also displays the number and not the name of the person.
Just so that someone might have a question, I have imported my contact list from my previous handset (Nokia N70) where it worked absolutely fine.
If someone has experienced the same kind of issue, could you please explain me and help me resolve it. It is quite inconvenient to identify the caller without the name and decide whether to accept or reject during work hours and have at times missed some important calls due to that.
    Thanks,
    manishk1403

Just so you know, guys, you're not the only ones with this issue. It suddenly popped up a week or so ago when I ran the PR 1.2 update OTA. And as to the comment about duplicate contacts, my phone used to show the name that was alphabetically first amongst the duplicates sharing the same number.
Nokia, you've made one the best devices thus far in the N8, and I feel like I can say that because I've used Nokia devices since the 3310, and am a diehard fan in every respect. But the issues I've had on the N8 are totally unbelievable. I still use a 7610 and I find it more reliable than the N8. Also, it's surprising to see how caustic your support team replies are to genuine problems your users are having with their phones, which are UNDOUBTEDLY a result of improperly thought out firmware upgrades and plain lack of user-friendliness. Nokia seems very happy to place the blame on the user, that is, provided they reply in the first place. And as to the solution above, the one that the operator at Nokia support recommended, is just plain idiotic. What exactly is the point of OTA upgrades if one has to perform it by cable anyways? And resetting the phone? Do I have to do it everytime I install something on my phone? Is that the solution to every problem on this great device? I mean, come ON Nokia. I gave up an iPhone 4 for this. Please try not to make me, and millions of others who have done the same thing regret our decision. We're not asking you to perform rocket science on clay tableta or a feat of some improbable technological wonder. We're asking you for things that are ALREADY there for AGES on other phones, and a little bit of consideration that I feel we've all earned. I honestly didnt mean for this to turn into a rant, but this is truly the first time ever that I've had such a troublesome device from Nokia, and witnessed such scathing indifference to user troubles, despite being squarely at fault with respect to buggy and incomplete firmware.

  • I paid for a number, it doesnt show up on caller i...

i paid for a number, it doesnt show up on caller id and i cannot recieve calls on it?

We received a call from someone who didnt speak English, was obviously reading from a script, and the originating number didnt show up at all on caller ID nor was it listed in recent calls on the phone (which means theyve figured out how to hide that data). THe caller said something like he was calling from the Microsoft Windows Support Center (warning flag 2,because Microsoft doesnt care enough about end users to actually call them). I could only understand fragments of what he was saying. Malware, errors, concerned, etc.  I asked him to repeat his name and provide his MS employee ID number, and  told him I was going to call a friend who worked at Microsoft to confirm his employment. SURPRISE!  He hung up.  I really would like to identify the originating number so I can report it.  Without a doubt it's a scammer.
It's a scammer using a system (probably international via the Internet) that spoofs (hides) all caller ID information, which is why there was no Caller ID information or entry in the call log.  It's illegal so reporting them even if you could woukd have no effect.  If I don't get valid caller ID information from a number I recognize I just ignore the call or quickly answer and immediately hang up.

  • How to show company name and contact name on the incoming calls of iPhone 4

Kindly provide me with a useful solution of how to show company name and contact name on the incoming calls of iPhone4.
even with an application or from the setting of the iPhone itself, but without telling me a solution like writting the company name in the contact name field.
This is a very important option, i think it is a must, not an option and apple should fix this problem fastly. because it is already available in the older models of iPhone like iPhone 3G and 3GS.
How an important feature like this could be available in old models, but in the later models is not available?

Currently not possible without putting the company name in the contact name's field.  AFAIK, it's never been available on any iOS version.
You might check the App Store for an app that can do this although I'm pretty sure you won't find one.

  • Will Cisco Unity inbox show the calling name from non-subscribers

Unity CX 7.1.3 -- I need to know if the calling name is present will CUCM pass this to Unity CX and show the name in the messages "from" field on the Cisco Unity Inbox (personal communications assistant) I currently have a PIMG integration and there is no name field in the SMDI traces.
    thanks

    Hi -
Sorry, I misunderstood your original posting.  Here is a link to Unity Connection for customizing the subject line of voice messages - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/7x/administration/guide/7xcucsagpdf.pdf
The subject line is viewable using the Cisco Unity Inbox.  Note however, this is not ciscopca, which is used to configure user voicemail settings.  As you can see from the link, "When the %NAME% parameter is used in the subject line format of an outside caller message, it is automatically replaced with the ANI Caller Name of the sender of the message. If the ANI Caller Name is not available, Cisco Unity Connection inserts the value specified in the %NAME% (When Unknown) field."  If the message comes from a non-subscriber, you may see "Voice Message from Unknown Caller" or Unidentified Caller in the subject.  I recommend also using field %CALLERID%, which I believe is used by default, because at least the voicemail user will get the caller's phone number.
