Nokia E6-unstable

Nokia seems to have got the E6 completely wrong. Not sure inthe interest of Windows are they killing a market themselves? Have been an ardent fan of Nokia for last 13 years, they seem to be getting wrong on the business phones.
Neverthless, after having read so many Belle issues, decided to stay put with Symbian Anna.
But  off late with no new installation of s/w  or update, the phone keeps rebooting for no reason. Sometimes I just cant receive the incoming call. The phone keeps ringing, but press of receive button doesnt activate the call. But  A few repeated end call reboots the phone.
If you had similar experience or a remedy, pls advise

My E6 is super stable and snappy...better than it was on Anna.

  • Nokia 925 unstable after latest update OS 8.0.103...

    Just took an update this morning on my 925. OS 8.0.10328.78
    Now no emails or ability to send texts. Cant even get into my email as it just goes back to home screen. Typing a text and trying to send also fails. When pressing send it just sits there. 
    With email, if I can get in, nothing is synched and a load of emails under the mailbox saying unknown sender (no subject)

  • Nokia BH 501, unstable connection please help

    I just purchased the Nokia BH 501 stereo bluetooth headset. The sound quality is OK, but it has been very unstable espesially when I'm walking with my phone in my pocket it keeps falling out. I'm using it on a Nokia 6120 Classic. Is it anything I can do to improve the stability?

    I am having the same problem. I have a 5310 Xpressmusic and I basically can't move at all with the bh 501. This is a very poor product as I bought them to use while exercising, usually walking, but it is the same on the train or whatever.
    It doesn't matter what pochet or whatever it is still the same problem - constant drop outs!
    Also the volume is not loud enough and it barely can cope with the sound of the tram (I live in Melbourne Australia) when I catch it to work.
    I am really very angry about this and have been putting comments that the product is lousy on technology evaluation sites.

  • Nokia Lumia 520 very unstable

    my phone is brand new and when apps do work its allway only for a few minutes you should work more against getting a good stable compabilitymode with apps that both are intended for and those who arent. 
    at first i didnt mind but then it turned out to do the same thing only in diffrent time spawns crashes all the time dont aske iv done resets and full updates like 20 times since last month still the same even some of the apps intended for the phone itself crashes not all but enough mostly its games witch is anoying cuz thats kinda the only aps worth getting. any way please! work on compability modes for well known game creators.
    ps: most of the games i dl is for windows phone and still dosent work correctly...

    Regarding your concern, is this happening to all applications that you're trying to download from the Store? If no, what are affected apps? If yes, have you tried using the Nokia Software Recovery Tool? This tool will help us in rectifying some software related concern that we're having with your phone. If you haven't used this, ttry downloading it first to your PC and connect your phone to it via a USB connection.
    Let us know the outcome of it.

  • PC Suite causes system to be unstable! Nokia N95 8...

    I am very pleased with everything about my N95 8GB aside from the software. I tried installing it on my laptop which is running 32bit Vista. I found that it crashed all my applications and desktop 1/2 way through the installation and then rebooted my pc, only to find that I was faced with an unknown error BSOD. I had no other choice than to format my laptop and start again, much to my annoyance.
    I want to be able to use the full functionality allowed by USB connection to my laptop. I am apprehensive of installing v7.0.8.2 I have just downloaded from the NOKIA website. I have also found out that people are experiencing issues with having iTunes installed at the same time as PC suite. As an iPod user, I am not about to drop Apple software.
    This is worrying, I just want to be able to use my N95 to its full potential! without the fear of my system failing again...
    Please reply with some sort of resolution, is this v7.0.8.2 fine to use or are there still problems?

    Sorry to see others are experiencing this but in one sense, I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, but bummed about the problem all the same.
    I bought a new PC a couple of weeks ago (Vista OS) and in setting it up, installed Nokia PC Suite. A few days later, it realkly started to hang when shutting down and very slow in booting up. Both processes were under a minute out of the box.
    Ended up doing a factory restore, not sure what was causing the problem and intending to just return the computer, but after completed, PC was back to running fine. So...I reinstalled the software I intended to use, including PC suite. Now I'm back to the same problem, though this time, I see an error related to Nokia software in disagnostic app. I unistalled Nokia and that's helped, but there's still some lag in shutdown and boot compared to out-of-the-box status. And hard drive seems to be constantly working. ???
    Guess I'll see if there's anything related to PC Suite left to uninstall and if so, hopefully that prevents having to do another restore. What a pain and disappointment.

  • Nokia C5-03: A phone full of BUGS

    My wife gifted me this phone. Otherwise, I would throw it to the dust bin!! I used Nokia 5800 & 5230 for the last 3 years. I thought that I would be as good as like those phones. But, I'm wrong!!
    Some of it's bugs:
    1. Very much unstable firmware; it restarts almost everyday. Sometimes it needs removal of battery.
    1. 5MP camera without any Flash or Camera Key. It takes 6-7 seconds to process a picture. After taking 2-3 picture, it must restart during processing image.
    3. It's malfunctioning key lock button often disturbs, specially during call.
    4. Another disgusting thing is absence of Proximity Sensor. For this, light and dark plays with me whenever it wants.
    5. Free Ram Remains below 40MB and often runs out of memory.
    6. It's glossy back cover is a finger print magnat.
    Can anyone tell me how can I overcome the slowness, restart and software bugs??

    Pls remember that reinstalling firmware will delete all the personal data i.e. contacts msg etc. So do take a backup. Also if u've a memory card password & u don't remember it then pls don't reinstall the firmware as u won't b able to use the card.

  • E72 talk with the nokia customer care

    i tried to talk to them with all the problems we E72 users are facing, but seems somehow that they either keep avoiding the question, or don't answer the question, but give answers that slightly have something to do with the question. either way their replies don't help whatsoever.
    I tried to ask them to send a software engineer to look at our problems, I asked twice and they didn't answer both times.

    Hi, I read that there is a new release for the E72, v51.018. From current posts in Nokia's discussion page, many of the problems that existed in v22.007 and v31.023 were not resolved in v51.018.
    Furthermore, i read that program versions such as for Adobe Reader, the program did not update as v51.018 suggested.
    Is it possible to release the full firmware fixes? Many people are confused as to what the 450 fixes were, since a lot of current problems have yet to be resolved.

    Would you also be able to request an engineer to the Nokia Discussion forum in order to clear up any misunderstandings that current E72 owners have? that would be greatly appreciated.

    So, each E72 that has a v51.018 update are all completely different updates depending on the various E72 (singapore, North America, etc)? FOr the E72 that already have the v51.018 update available, many people have said that they are still experiencing problems that have been present since earlier firmwares.
    Is there a location where we can see what changes are made on the varient E72 updates? Currently I have an E72-2 (North America) and I saw that the update is not out yet for the North American version.

    On that website you provided, I did not see any message updates regarding software updates, merely whether my E72 model is eligible for a firmware update. Can you provide me the link with Nokia message updates regarding current firmwares? Also, there hasn't been much support on the nokia discussion forum about the current problems that the new firmware is experiencing. What is the update on that?
    Is there any way of downgrading? many people have said that the out-of-the-box firmware version was the most stable and that the v31.022 and v51.018 were very unstable compared to the original.

    I just went to the web link you provided, and it said that my warranty is still valid, however it has given me 10 days to mail in my device, otherwise i need to provide proof of purchase. Did i accidentally activate something? I merely input my serial number to see what my options are.
    At this time, my phone has no problems, as i have not upgraded the firmware, BUT i am stresing that other owners of E72 are experiencing firmware issues, and I am asking if there is any way for a software engineer to investigate these issues so that future firmwares will have many issues solved that customers have found?

    In regard to the firmware update, updating the software of the handset will fix minor and major software issues that is causing and can cause issues. It is not our intention to provide more problem with the update that we are releasing. The main goal of the updates is to improve the device’s general performance.
    basically the conversation went in a full circle.. its obvious the firmware is to IMPROVE the performance of the E72, but it would be very helpful if a software engineer can SEE the problems that we are facing. Basically we are the guinea pigs who are testing the software stability, and they are the ones programming.. If they are not going to look at the problems we have exploited, there will be no solutions for this phone.

  • Are we Beta testing the N97 for Nokia?

    Because if i was given this as a beta release i would have told them what i thought, the current launch version on the N97 with V10 firmware is barely an Alpha release, this phone was a rush job thrown out on the market to coincide with the launch of the iphone 3Gs.
    This is my fourth N series, N80, N95, N95 8gb (the best N series yet), and now this N97 what should be Nokia's flagship, but being stripped of apps and filled with Trial versions to please the accountants at Nokia.
    Day one and it locked up twice, corrupted my contacts when synced with OVI, and ran down to less than 4mb on the C drive, day 2 i found the GPS was not working, it was a joke, walking down the road under a clear sky and it could not hold a signal lock, driving was worse barely holding a signal for a few seconds and as for sitting spinning it round for an age to get the compass to work........forget it id rather be lost than look like a **bleep**.
    Deleting apps and reinstalling them on the mass memory frees up some space, but why should we have to do this, the whole phone is badly thought out and configured.
    Soon after the stylus supplied with the phone and attached to the phones only tie point scratched my screen, what was wrong with a rear cover with a bump and a thin PDA style stylus, no not good enough for Nokia, a fat thing on a string will do for them. 
    New Firmware release 4 days after UK launch and still not available to most users as it has not been network approved yet, 3 network say its Nokia's job and they are delaying things, Nokia say its the networks delay. Come on if it was needed that quickly why leave most of your customers waiting, or just get to work on a layered OS with a standardised core with a network layer, so everyone can have the updated without waiting.   
    4 weeks in on this phone, i too have the scratched camera lens, still No working GPS, and having some good negotiations with Three to try to reverse the contact upgrade, as i don't think another N97 will last any longer than this one.
    I see Nokia spending Millions on punting the N97, TV, Billboards, Net adds, why push so hard on what is a sub standard product, could you imagine Joe public trying to free off some memory by moving apps, tell the care centres to brace themselves the N97 flood will be coming their way.
    What next, well if 3 don't cancel the upgrade, then Nokia will have to fix my phone again and again and again untill it works as advertised, in the mean time i am off to get in touch with watchdog so they can let Joe Public know what to expect from an N97.

    I don't believe we're beta testing the N97 for Nokia. Beta testing suggests it is in a state prior to production. Nokia's track record (at least to me) seems that leading edge phones never reach a stable plateau.
    What I believe happens is the phone is released and remains unstable until they sort of perfect the platform, then a new handset is released bringing a whole new world of bugs and problems and so the cycle continues.
    By the time the phone is suitable for every day use it is, by today's technological stance, ancient and the damage has already been done to the reputation.
    S40 phones seem to fare much better, mainly because it is much more widely used within Nokia. S60 is up against some fine competition from vendors who will rush fixes out.. Nokia only ever seems to rush phones out. It isn't the same and it shows (see their forcast for the next 6 months)
    I honestly would not be surprised if this flagship phone limps on in a partially functional state until it is superceeded by a budget blackberry clone.
    Sad? Very! Am I being cynical, or telling it like it is.
    I'd be real interested to know if any exec at Nokia used the N97 in the weeks before it was released.. Not that I'm a fan, but we all know Stevie J used an iphone long before it was released.. I kind of get the impression they must all use very basic "corporate" s40 handsets and assume their flagship product must be of the same calibre.
    Next release, why not give 100 people N97 for testing, real testing.  It seems Nokias quality assurance team is out of touch with what a $700 handset demands.. ooooh, I gasp in awe at your 30 MB of free capactity when you remove ALL the applications you can. (It's like having a 2TB hard drive in a computer and continuing to boot from a floppy)
    I appreciate there are product time lines to meet, but if Nokia were aiming to compete with the likes of the pre, iphone and the various android handsets (not even mentioning windows mobile) rushing out a phone like this was very wide of the mark. Concept wise, the N97 is a great design.. the implementation of both the hardware and software just isn't going to cut it in todays market.. 
    (but this is what they want? you'll get bored with the handset and buy a replacement! yeay!)

    i have updated my nokia 5130c  xpress music with version v7.97. after updation i got that my music player's library updation speed get more faster then before but i have lost screen saver option and also lost power saver option. my music player also become unstable it take more time to change between tracks. net also gone slower. i request to nokia to release a new version of software with all the features like (screen saver, power saver and also with solution of all these problems).

    Friend i have nokia5130 also. But my problem is my set not supporting .jar format from few days. Can u advise me plz where from and how shall i update set's software? Plz tell me. I don't know how to update software.

  • Nokia 700 hard reset

    So this evening I backuped my phone and did a hard reset. It said that it will restart phone. I pressed okay and it turned off the phone and screen went black. Waited 5,10,15mins. Nothing appears on the screen and I can't even turn it on. Removed battery and put it back in and then it starts booting up [about 30-50seconds but usually it's faster] and then goes black screen like it's turned off.
    Any way to fix this?

    The reset method above is not intended for public/general use to reset your phone. I is reserved for use as a last resort for a Nokia Care Point or repair centre before a flash of the phone to be able to bring it into a working state if it is not. This reset _will_ remove or make unusable some applications or may make the device become unstable.
    The only two user-applicable options are:
    Soft Reset; *#7780# possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
    This will reset the device settings to defaults. It does not delete any personal data or system files.
    Hard Reset; *#7370 possibly followed by security code (default is 12345)
    This will erase all custom data and return settings to default values. It will not change the system files.
    If you used the key-combination method it would be a good idea to visit a Nokia Care point where they will be able to restore the original firmware (latest available version for your device) including apps or system files which will be removed using this reset method. This may not be covered under warranty though and will completely wipe all information from your device so make sure you create a backup in Nokia Suite before you have this done.

  • HOWTO: Install and use opensync-0.22 to sync Evolution to Nokia phone

    Opensync-0.3x is unstable and fraught with danger, the only relatively-safe version is opensync-0.22.  Installing opensync-0.22 is quite a task in x86-64 (i686 users might be able to use the unofficial kpiche repository on this page http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uno … ositories).
    Here's how I got it to work in arch x86-64 to sync my Nokia 6300 phone over bluetooth (obex) with Evolution contacts and calendars.  The first few steps should be fairly straightforward for most arch users.
    1. Install evolution from repo via pacman if you haven't already:
    pacman -S evolution evolution-data-server evolution-exchange
    At the time of writing these are at version 2.28.11.
    2. Load evolution and configure your default settings, you don't need to configure mail if you don't want to.  Load some test calendar and contact data if you really want to.
    3. Install and configure your bluetooth adapter and pair your phone as per http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth.  Install openobex from repo via pacman, at the time of writing it is version 1.5-1.
    From here things get a lot more difficult and a lot less arch-y.  Opensync appears to be a huge state of wonk right now, and thus libopensync in the AUR is a huge mess (from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45683) and there doesn't appear to be a working 0.22 suite in the repo or aur.  This issue is further complicated by not being able to mix and match opensync libs and plugin versions.  Nevermind!
    4. Get the dependency library tarballs from opensync.org:
    libwbxml: 0.10.7 compiled for me in x64; from here https://libwbxml.opensync.org/wiki/Rele … xml-0.10.7
    libsyncml: 0.4.6 is the only version that contains the openobex headers needed to make libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 compile; get it from here https://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/lib … .4.6-notes.  Any later version of libsyncml doesn't appear to have these files (ref: http://bugs.gentoo.org/269187) and makes libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 fail at compilation, throwing these errors:
    syncml_plugin.h:38:35: error: libsyncml/obex_client.h: No such file or directory
    syncml_plugin.h:39:35: error: libsyncml/http_server.h: No such file or directory
    5. Get the opensync-0.22 tarballs from http://www.opensync.org/download/releases/0.22/, at minimum you need the following:
    libopensync-0.22
    libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22
    libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22
    msynctool-0.22
    You can try other plugins if you want to, ymmv.
    6. Build and install the depedencies using cmake as per the instructions in their INSTALL files; Build and install libopensync, msynctool and plugin-evolution, these shouldn't have any problems.  libopensync-plugin-syncml won't build with default options because it won't be able to locate libsoup while configuring; add flag --disable-http to get around this.  (if you need http I have no idea how to fix this).  libopensync-plugin-syncml will also throw a compilation warning and refuse to compile:
    % ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-http
    % make
    cc1: warnings being treated as errors
    syncml_plugin.c: In function '_manager_event':
    syncml_plugin.c:297: error: 'smlSessionSetReceivingLimit' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/libsyncml-1.0/libsyncml/sml_session.h:91)
    The new libsyncml library (relative to the 0.22 plugin anyway) declares this, so a quick manual patch is to comment out lines 296 and 297 in the source code in syncml_plugin:

    Save the file, you should now be ready to run make and make install.
    7. If all went well, you should now be able to see both plugins loaded in msynctool:

    I configured my phone and evolution in msynctool exactly as per this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=705103; copied here for brevity:
    1. Let's go commando with OpenSync. First we create a group to refer to our sync session with. I've called mine "evolution-n95", but you can call it whatever you want. We then create the config for the Evolution side as the first member of this group.
    $ msynctool --addgroup evolution-n95
    $ msynctool --addmember evolution-n95 evo2-sync
    $ msynctool --configure evolution-n95 1
    2. Your text editor will pop up editing member 1 of your evolution-n95 group. Edit the config to look like this:

    Depending on your data to sync, you may see a LOT of info. This may be done quickly or take a minute or two. In any case, you should see "The sync was successful" at the end amd be returned to the prompt.
       6. Pat yourself on the back - you're done. Sync again with the same command as much as you want.
    ps. ignore the README in libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22

  • Nokia 808 Video mode - Jerking problem

    The Jerking only happen when video mode happen on all setting 1080p,720p,360p. So I guess someone really happen in the hardware itself. Yes I tried touch screen zoom in this video and also volume button in the middle of the video. Both having the jerking 2 to 3 times starting from 1/3 of the zooming.
    Zoom function is work perfectly find on photo taking mode tested on 8mp 5mp 2mp.

    I don't think its normal to have the jerk. Is my set having problem?

    ok guys. I had sent my set to Nokia service centre for repaired. It factory reset everything and upgrade to FP2. Now the camera looks smoother I notice video stablisations 'on' will cause the shaking of video zoom.
    On video mode ,the jerking problem is back.
    To fix the problem I try to go to picture mode and off the stablisation and test swype the zoom afew times and back to video mode the problem is gone.
    So the problem is:
    It will jerk everytime I try to zoom in video mode. Picture mode not so obvious since it zoom very fast and don't takes video. Only video mode will be affected.

    If i try to use the zoom often like 30times or more, somehow it triggle it to cause the jerking and have to disable stablisation and go picture mode and swype zooming afew times which somehow will recover from the unstable zooming. back to video mode and test it should be ok now.
    Is anyone out there having the same issue too?

  • Nokia 5800XM general problems, corruption?

    I've been very pleased with my Nokia 5800 though today I ran into a very weird problem.
    In the main screen you have the keypad and the contact list buttons, suddenly neither wouldn't work at all. You can push them but nothing just happened. I didin't change anything in the phone before the problem and it just suddenly started doing that.
    Rebooting and removing battery for a while did nothing, resetting default settings fixed it for a minute or two. I did a hard reset to the phone and then uploaded my backups to the phone again now it's working though It's very unstable, if I try to browse websites they wont load (indicator stays at 0kb all the time)  I'm currently reflashing the firmware again to get a clean everything to defaults.
    I hope Nokia will still continue to support this product and upgrade the firmware because there seems to still be much quirks and freezes in the gui.
    And does anyone else have problems syncing the music library with any other program than nokia music? If I try to sync with winamp (tags are ok, bought tracks from webstore) some of the songs sync okay and they show in the right album but some of the songs from the same album are "unknown" and the ID3 tags are okay it just does that at random! Seems like there is a bug in the way 5800 handles tags? Should be fixed asap if that is the case, due being music phone mainly. Manually copying and updating library seems to work too.
    Same tracks sync nicely with nokia music (though the gui is really slow and it cant convert FLAC) windows mediaplayer seems to do fine too.

  • Nokia Play 360 speakers and Nokia Lumia 1520

    Hi all,
    I've got a pair of these speakers and am having trouble with my Lumia 1520. The Lumia connects and starts playing just fine but, after a few minute the audio drops for a split second every ten seconds or so. The music continues to play with this dropout every ten seconds.
    I've tried it with my wife's iPhone 5c without any sign of a glitch. Anyone got a solution?

  • Crime of buying a Nokia N97

    I see that I'm not all alone who has issues with N97. This is the worst phone ever and guess what I have a Nokia 6630 from the time it was launched and it works better then N97.... My phone was with their repair team for almost a month as firmware issue, camera flash was constantly on despite switching the phone off (on connecting the battery it would start), the camera quality was soo bad and its settings never responded; you login to facebook and cannot logout, the phone gets hangs in between, the swipe doesnt work sometimes when you try to answer the call, while loading applications or widgets the screen goes black... I have set the main internet connection point to be my WLAN but sometimes it automatically switches to "Data Package" by the service provider which I have not made as an access point and clearly defined WLAN (lost all my credit due to this).... once back in the WLAN area the phone does not search and connect to it by default and the other net applications like news, weather, etc does not connect unless I reset the phone.
    Its been two months since I bought this phone with one month being with Nokia for repair work (infact they swapped the whole phone) but did not replace it... Yeah finally can someone tell me how to delete the email headers from the mailbox... it never deletes and hoped this would have been resolved by the new firmware as per Nokia service people...
    I have had HTC phones - my god what a phone it was and never had to these issues esp with WLAN as it used to automatically scan and update information..
    Exhausted and mentally tortured by Nokia N97 and time taken to repair the phone but still no difference.... should have gone for HTC Pro2
    P.S - Nokia please recall this stupid **bleep** machine of yours and replace it with a new one or refund customers back their money...
