Nokia E7 and RSAP (Remote Sim Access Protocol)

Just spoke to Nokia support in the Netherlands... Guess what?
Nokia does NOT SUPPORT RSAP on the E7-00.
So for all the owners of Volkswagen, Audi owners out there etc.... It does NOT work.
I'm stunned by this reaction of Nokia. Up until now Nokia was a strong supporter of RSAP protocol. But not anymore??
RSAP is Remote Sim Acess protocol and is used as Bluetooth add-on for Volkswagen, Audi, Skoa etc owners.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hi, e7-00 works flawlessly with RSAP in my VW with premium bleutooth (it's a separate module while RNS 510 itself doesn't have any bluetooth). It works as good as with my previous N97 and N97 mini. One weird thing though. The simcard is still recognized and named as N97 by the car, the bleutoothconnection itself is connected to E7. Probably because I used the same SIM in my old phone its having that behaviour.
Have you tried to reset all Phone entries  from your carset and reconnect the phone again to fix  your addresbook issue?

  • Why does Apple not support the rSAP - Remote SIM Access Profile - for connection to car handsfree via Bluetooth

    Hello community,
I just ordered a new car and it comes with a bluetooth based handsfree installation based on rSAP (remote SIM access profile). I learned that rSAP is the ideal thing to eliminate the unwanted radiofrequency radiation (RFR) inside the car. Now while googleing I also learned that iPhone on iOS does not support rSAP.
I would like to point to the following page which shows some more detailed information on the rSAP topic:
    http://paulroberts69.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/android-2-2-and-rsap-compatibility /
I find rSAP a very usefuly thing, if it really brings the GSM radiation level down inside the car and allows the full use of all GSM functions by the rSAP premium handsfree kit built into the car. I absolutely do not understand why it is not already available with iOS.
From several web sources I understand that rSAP is available for jailbroken iPhones. That means, the chips inside the iPhone would support a rSAP service. Therefore my question: will it become available with iOS 6?
Or do all the folks at Apple drive old cars/brands and don't even think of the rSAP feature? Can we somehow start to get a hearing by the Apple developers? According to my knowledge, rSAP is implemented with all premium handsfree factory units of the VW brands - Audi, VW, Skoda ... This should make a relevant user base!
Any others with same wish and/or experiences? Comment here please!
    Regards,
    Olaf

    Hi Meg,
    could be several things:
    1. they forgot?
    2. none of their team members drives any VW branded car?
    3. nobody cares about the radiation inside the car?
    4. all have plugin holders for the iPhone?
I am just surprised that rSAP is offered by a premium car maker, but Apple seems ignorant about its support.
I am mostly concerned about the radiation when I use regular hands free. But I do understand that rSAP also has some limitations (only access to SIM contacts and other things, Wikipedia DE has a good full report, Wikipedia EN is much shorter).

    Olaf

  • Bluetooth with rSAP Standard (Sim Access Profile)

    Hi Folks,
is it posible to use the rSAP Protocol with OS 5.0? I have an iPhone 3GS 32 GB.
    Greetings from Germany

NOTE: RSAP DOES NOT ACCESS THE CONTACTS FROM YOUR SIM!!!!
It uses the contacts from your phone and then uploads them to the car kit
Here is simple breakdown of what rSAP really does (as posted by user Macca)...
rSAP basically "borrows" the IMEI number from your phone and uses it in its own built-in phone to get access to the mobile phone network using your number and contract. In the process it tells your phone to "shut up" meaning it turns the GSM/GPRS radio off.
The two big advantages of rSAP (as I see it) is the better signal strength achieved by using the vehicles antenna instead of the phones antenna and the increased battery life as your phone is not constantly hopping from cell to cell. The signal issue may not be a problem in some countries but here in the UK we have very varied terrain in a small area so holding a conversation whilst driving can be difficult.
This feature is available from most mobile phone manufacturers and mobile phone OS vendors including Google's Android.
It is a known fact that eventhough the iPhone is a fantastic phone it has one of the poorest GSM/GPRS reception especially in the UK. Us business users who spend alot of time in our cars require to use the iPhone with the best GSM/GPRS reception and hence require a feature like rSAP being made available.
If Apple are looking to penetrate the business market and try to take market share from Blackberry, Nokia and Android based phones, they need to listen to us else it will always be a sophisticated phone for the consumer market only!
Sorry - but your statement "NOTE: RSAP DOES NOT ACCESS THE CONTACTS FROM YOUR SIM!!!!" is NOT true!
While rSAP handles a SIM card inside a mobile via Bluetooth Protocol to a car built in phone it is possible to access the data on the SIM. I am dong this with my HTC mobile and an Audi built in Bluetooth Phoneunit.
At Audi since 2008 it is possible to have access to the "normal contacts" on your mobile via the Bluetooth protocol BAP or PBAP.
While Apple has only a very restricted Bluetooth Implementation - you can use your iPhone only with HFP => Hands Free Protocoll - this is the same like a Bluetooth Headset with microfone.
I think Apple will not support rSAP, because they want to keep control of hte SIM card...

  • New DVR and FiOS remote tablet access

I had to get a replacement DVR recently (bad hard drive). All works well except I can't access the DVR details or program the box through the fios remote app on my tablet. It worked fine for the old box. Also, on the app, the old box still shows up.
I can log onto my account at Verizon. Com and I can program, see what's recorded on the new DVR  etc.., but again the old box shows up as the default DVR and I need to always choose the new one on a drop down box for things to work. Again, this is on the Verizon. Com website through the DVR manager.
How do I get rid of the old box on the app. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app bit to no avail. Again, the problem is the app, which I would like to get to work with the new DVR.

Ok, I found the problem on the FiOS app. There is a button that can switch which box doors the recording. So I now can see what I'd on the new DVR. But still, not sure how to delete the old box from the list

  • Enterprise 220R is down and no remote/local access seems possible...urgent

My ass is grass here if I can't get this fixed shortly...
I had to bring down our Sun Enterprise 220R and now cannot get the thing to boot with services running, can only ping the box.
    1. I understand solaris boxes don't boot and instead bring up this Forth OBP menu. Any way to bypass this without having access to the box via telnet/etc.?
    2. I have connected a serial cable to both port A (db-25) and port B with no sucess on a Windows laptop running HyperTerminal @ 9600-n-8-1. Doing this same thing to another sun box works fine. On the 220R nothing happens in window. All seems dead.
I am desperate to get this thing booting and will face serious wrath if it isn't done shortly. Naturally we have no video card in box or keyboard for access.
    Help is desperately needed...

Does it have an rsc card? If so, the OBP params are changed to redirect I/O to the card. I had this happen on one of my 280Rs. I had to power the machine down, then power it up. While it is powering up watch the amber maintenance light (the small wrench) on the front. When it flashes, press the power buton twice. This boots the machine up in default OBP params allowing serial port access. Be sure to have your hyper/tera term inplace before you do this. Also, sounds like machine is booting in Single User, replying to pings but no telnet nor ftp etc. Could have a nice fsck waiting for you.

  • IPhone and rSAP

Reading the feature list of the FW 3.0 I was very diappointed that again there is no rSAP support. So it's not possible to use it in my car (VW). Does anybody know a external iPhone Application that offers this protocol?
    Anton

Nope, that's not the main purpose: through rSAP (remote SIM access protocol), a in-dash car phone (for ex.) can "grab" the SIM card in your mobile, so no need to have "dual card" arrangement for dedicated car phone. Advantage is that you are using a real car phone, with its own external antenna, steering wheel user i/f, SMS messages store, voice dialing etc. In other words, not just a "parrot" or wireless headset. And yes, some of them can grab contacts on the SIM card as well, or even on the mobile phone.
Sounds all very nice, but in reality it only really works with the following combination: VW or Audi and Nokia phone. My HTC Windows Mobile based PDA in theory should work as well, but in practice is a nightmare. That's why I'm longing for Apple to implement rSAP for quiet a while now; to bad that even in V.3 it still is not there.

  • Report bug in last firmware nokia 130 and 130 dual...

report bug in last firmware nokia 130 and 130 dual sim rm-1037 and rm-1035.
Bug is when you choose phone book and the phone freezes on the menu and after 1 minute menu works but the second attempt to open the phone book phone freezes again. problem is present in the last firmware. I hope that the problem will be eliminated in the next firmware.
I tried also with Nokia Software Recovery Tool but without success, the phone still freezes when opening the phonebook.

    1. Country Bulgaria
    2. Try with three sim cards three different operators in Bulgaria, Mtel, Globul and Vivacom.
    3. 100% of the problem is not in the SIM card, the problem is a bug in the software of nokia 130 and 130 dual.

  • Questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN Access

    Hi there,
I want to ask a series of questions regarding Outlook Web App, Remote Desktop, Remote Web Access and VPN access and was hoping whether you could help me. Below are my questions to ask you.
Outlook Web App - What do I need to configure in order to get my Exchange account to work with the OWA app on my iPhone? Is Office 360 required on the server that hosts Outlook Web App in our organisation? When I configure the settings and
connect I get the following message "couldn't connect -  We couldn't connect to the server. Check your information and make sure it's correct." I can connect with other devices using Outlook Web App.
Remote Desktop - What do I need to configure in order to connect to my computer at work using Remote Desktop on my Windows Phone? When I configure the settings and connect I get the following message "Connection error - We couldn't connect
to the remote PC. Make sure the PC is turned on and connected to the network, and that remote access is enabled. Inquiring minds may find this error code helpful: 0x204" I can connect with other devices using Remote Desktop. There are currently no
RD Server settings in the Remote Desktop app on the Windows Phone and the only way I'm to connect to my PC at work is via Remote Desktop and not to be confused with the one by Microsoft, however the app is on a trial basis and times out every 5 minutes and
can only be used once every hour unless I purchased the app for £2.99 off the App Store but would ideally like to use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app though.
Remote Web Access - What do I need to configure in order to get Remote Web Access on my Windows Phone using a URL? When I log in using a URL I get the following message "There is a problem with this Web page. Please contact the person who manages
the server" I can connect with other devices using Remote Web Access. Also how do you enable the background option for Remote Web Access? I know how to do this in Remote Desktop but not in Remote Web Access. Remote Web Access works on PCs regardless
being onsite and offsite and on my iPhone, the same issue also occurs with my Nokia 5230s regardless of whether I'm using Opera Mobile or Mini or the latest Nokia Browser.
VPN access - How do you configure VPN access on a Windows Phone using VPN? I cannot find the protocols PPTP, L2TP, SSTP and IPsec in order to configure VPN access on the Windows Phone apart from IKEv2.
    Many thanks,
    RocknRollTim

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    RocknRollTim

  • Nokia 5800 Remote Sim Mode

What does Remote Sim Mode mean on the Nokia 5800 under Bluetooth settings? I checked the help section but I still don't understand

It means that if your phone is connected to your car for example via bluetooth, you can access your SIM contacts from your cars mobile phone without having to have a second SIM within the car phone.
    Got it?
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • Remote Desktop Access with Mac and Asus Transformer Prime

I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.Does anyone have any ideas?

For my tablet its own ip assigned by the router. Same with the macbook.the Pocketcloud RDP app also uses 3389.I have port 3389 set for both internal and external port and protocol "both" under the Single Port Forwarding tab in the router config.

  • How do I remove the cover to access the back of my 5c and insert the sim

How do I remove the cover of my 5c in order to access the back of the phone to insert the sim?

You DON'T remove the cover to access and insert the sim card in the the phone.
The sim card tray on an iPhone is either at the top of the phone or on the side of the phone - just look at the top and then use the sim card tool that came with your phone and this will open the sim card tray.  You have no need to take the back off your phone whatsoever and has already been pointed out, if you do so, you warranty is voided, as the casing of iPhones are NOT designed to be removed.

  • Prohibit full remote desktop access and allow remoteapp

    Hi all,
How to allow remoteapp only while prohibiting full remote desktop access except for some users?
    Thanks

I am Microsoft Tech with Platforms Core  , I came across this thread rather recently. So as a Christmas surprise it can be achieved rather simply. Please follow following steps...
    1. Please navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-TCP
    2. Change the value of port to anything from 3389.
    3. Also change it in remote app manager in RD Session Host server RDP Port to the port you have changed to in registry.
4.Please note it has to be done on all session hosts, redirectors  and Connection brokers.
    5. Now your remote app continues to work , however RDP done sans the exact port number will not work.
Please feel free to contact me on this.
Simple sweet and logical resolution. Cheers..Happy holidays :-)

I have updated to ios 7 and Microsoft outlook web access for work emails no longer works nor my remote access can you help

This happened to me as well. I read somewhere else that resetting the network settings (General, Reset, Reset Network Settings) would help and it partially did. I get half (the folders) of the Web Access screen rather than a blank screen. I tried tihs a few more times and got the right half (the messages) on occasion but never the whole web page.

I'm running the latest BlackBerry Link (version 1.20, build 7) and Mac OS X (version 10.9) software on my Mac Mini computer.
I setup BlackBerry Link for remote file access.
On my Q10 in File Manager I see my Mac computer but for some reason I don't see any folders. It's just a black blank screen. My carrier is Telus.
In link I chose folders to access. It seems like everything is setup properly and I still see only a black blank screen on my Q10.
Any Mac users have this issue?

Me too. None of the sync functions/remote file access/wifi sync using BB Link are working for me. I have a Mac (10.8.5) and a BB Z10 (10.2.0.429). I hope BB comes up with a solution soon.
