Nokia E71 Calendar Memos across multiple days

I recently got a German Nokia E71
(E71-1 Software Version: 100.07.76 08-06-2008).
I noticed a strange behavior of the calendar:
When I create a memo that goes across multiple days (lets say 10 days or 14 days) In Month view the memo is shown correctly for the set time. Also when synchronizing with MS Outlook the memo is shown correctly on the PC.
But when you open the Memo directly (open day view, select the memo and press the center of the nav-key) then the memo is displayed to last one day longer than originally specified.
For example I created a memo that should end on the 11th of September (actually it starts in August so maybe spanning the Month barrier may also cause the problem) but it is shown to end on September 12th when I open it. Although it is shown correctly in Month view (shown on 11-Sept, not shown on 12-sept).
Maybe you have similar experiences?
Or an explanation for that behavior?

I think I'm experiencing the same thing, Sebastian.
Phone: E71 bough from 3 in the UK ~20months ago.
Firmware: 100.07.76 08-06-2008 RM-346 E71-1 (241.02)
Here's how it happens:
Step 1) I create a memo on the calendar with the phone.
Step 2) I do an Ovi sync over the air (i.e. there is no use of the PC Suite or Microsoft Outlook going on).
Step 3) Some (but not all) of my single day memos are spread over two (2) days.

As you can see in the 'wrong' example, instead of memos showing up as lasting for 1 day duration it's apparently "23 hours, 59 minutes" in duration, and ends on 18/07/2011. And yet it's spread over the 18th and 19th on the month view. The correct date (as entered and displayed on my phone) is actually the 19th! The same goes for all those other 'wrong 2-day memos': they should all only be shown on the second of the two day bar that's visible in month view.
At the moment, for some unknown reason, the problem seems confined to April-October of this year (and subsequent and prior years) and dates are stretched back by a day so they appear on the web version of the Ovi calendar as lasting for two (2) days instead of one (1). But I think that the problem has been more widespread and across-the-board in the past, and it may have put dates forward by an aditional day (although I can't be sure on that.
Thankfully, all these memos remain as correct on the phone and seem to be unaffected by the sync.
When it first happened I made an attempt to correct the Ovi Web Calendar memo sync problem before (thinking it was a once only bug) by going through all the Ovi calendar entries on the web interface and tidying things up that way. But I'm not prepared to go through all that hassle again.
It's a real niggle, to say the least.
What can be done?

All-day events across multiple days

Okay, this is a very specifc question about a very specific situaiton, but I am curious to know what is going on. When I have an all-day event scheduled for one day in iCal and I sync it with my phone (Motorola v551) it shows up as a nice little note at the top of my calendar on my phone. When I have an all-day event scheduled across multiple days in iCal it shows up as an actual event across all the hours of the day for as long as I have it scheduled on my phone.
I have discovered a work-around by taking that one-day, all-day event and having it repeat the number of days of the event, but it just doesn't look right in iCal.

The calendar on your phone likely doesn't support events that span mutiple days. The solution of a repeating event is the correct answer.

How to display timed events across multiple days in month view?

Simple question I suppose, though I don't know if it has an answer. When I put an event spanning multiple days (say, a week long vacation) in iCal, and check the "All Day" box, it shows a nice, accurate, bar going across those days the event I'm entering covers. However, if I give it specific times for the event (e.g. the times of departure and return for said trip), even if those times are a week apart, the event still appears to only cover the starting date when viewed from the month perspective.
Is there any way I can make the month calendar show all the days during which the event is "happening" so that at a glance I will realize that an entire week is busy?

You can do it with keyboard shortcuts.
Select the event. Press Cmd+X. Press Cmd and right or left arrow (depending if it is forward or back in months) until you are in the correct month. Press Cmd+V to pase on the same day in the new month.

Calendar not showing multiple days when using Gmail option

Since I installed Mountain Lion the calendar when using the Gmail option does not show the bar (highlight ) when using multiple days. The detail transfer to My I pad perfectly and the Apple work & home are also working. If I click on the first day of an event then it is highlighted.

The values(EVENTS) would anyway appear if there are entries in the table on which you are creating the calendar for e.g.
EVENT-1 01-JAN-02
EVENT-1 02-JAN-02
EVENT-1 03-JAN-02
EVENT-2 04-JAN-02
Create the calendar and order by the date field and the data should appear ..
Pl. could you explain further what exactly you want to display.
You can also restrict the calendar display by using the start and end month option.

In ICal-How do I get the new event to span across multiple days.

If say, I have an event from Jan 1-3, I'd like to see it span across all days, like in Outlook. Not just the 1st day and the other 2 days blank. when I set the start date and the end date, in this case Jan 1-3 the event only shows up on Jan 1. I'd lke to be reminded that the event has 2 more days to it at a glance and not have to open the event. Any sugesstions other than to enter the event in 2 more times?

Set the pref browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false on the about:config page.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

Calendar Overlay Across Multiple Site Collections

I have searched the forums and have not found a solution to this question.
We are having trouble creating calendar overlays across site collections.
Specifics:
1. This is a single farm SharePoint 2013 installation. Version: 15.0.4481.1005
2. We have a single web application http://sharepointweb on port 80
3. We are using host-named site collections
4. We have separated the different departments into separate site collections because we want to take advantage of separate content databases.
When we create calendar overlays between calendar lists within a single site collection...it works fine. When we try to create calendar overlays between site collections (again, within a single web app) it fails with the message "Unable
to find specified web in the given URL".

i tried some steps, i agree with you that seems calendar overlay cant do good across web application,
from http://y:1234/ and http://y:4563/. seems there are limitation here.
when i extend my web app, usually i create new web app as internal/external/public, then i guess issue is happened.
so, anyway, i got a bit curious if your environment also came out with the same result:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2025977
at the kb, it was stated, that it may not able to find another site other than the default web app.
but, while i tried in the same web app, the issue not there.
so i tried to create new site collection, with lots of subsites, http://y:1234/. then have http://y.1234/sites/123 and http://y.1234/sites/456, for example, i add new calendar and create overlay, seems it can resolve each one and another.

Calendar Entries for multiple days

Can you create one calendar entry for different days without having to enter the entry on each day and setting it to a weekly event? eg. swimming on Monday and Wednesday every week. I seem to have to enter it twice.

You have to enter it twice. Each event on each day is considered a separate event, so you have to enter them separately as repeating events.

Calendar colors across multiple devices

Okay, I've been using iCal for well perhaps ever ever since it started shipping in the OS. I'd like to be able to change the colors codes of calendars on an iPad 2 running the app. So far haven't found a place to do that. Suspecting it might be a mobileme thing. I've even tried that, nope no good. Seems like the iCal app on the iPad pulls colors from somewhere as some match others don't. I looking for a consistent look for all calendars across different devices, i.e. Ipad/iPhone/Laptop desktop version of iCal. Going to repost this same question on the iCal discussion group.

I have the same setup here for me any my wife. We each have a separate apple ID used for iCloud (but share one ID for iTunes).
We each have personal calendars but we also have a shared one (named shared). On icloud.com we have that calendar shared where we can each add/edit the events. And it is shared accross our iPad and iPhones.

Nokia E71 Calendar reminders

Whenever I input a meeting in to the calendar of my E71 it ALWAYS defaults to a reminder of 15 minutes. Is there anyway of making it default to NO reminder? Any assistance would be greatly received.

Calendar synced across multiple devices

Hi,
Is there a way to get a calendar synced from my Mac, and to let someone with an HTC access it? In particular, I need a calendar to which my wife will have access on her HTC, and which I can access on my iPhone. I'm guessing GoogleSync?

Events Spanning Multiple Days

I'm converting to iCal from another application I've used for years. Does iCal support any way to insert and display a line, banner, bar, etc. accross multiple days in the Month View so that I can display the fact that I'm on the road or on vacation, etc. for the days covered by the line, banner, bar, etc?
I would be happy to provide a picture of what the application I've been using does to support this need.

Is this what you are looking for? Creating an all-day or multi-day event:You can create an event that lasts one or more complete days (for example, for a vacation), or an event that spans multiple days with different start and end times.
To create an all-day event, make sure you're in Day or Week view, then double-click in the white area at the top of the iCal window (just below the date). If you want your all-day event to last multiple days, drag a corner of the event across the days in the main calendar view (or type the end date in the Info drawer).
To create a multi-day event, make sure you're in Day or Week view, then drag from the start time to the end time of the event (you can drag across multiple days). You can also type the start and end dates and times in the event's Info drawer.
All-day events are shown across the top of the day in the main calendar view.   
Tip: You can also make any event an all-day event by selecting the "all-day event" checkbox in the event's Info drawer.;~)

Nokia Email for E71 Started Only Holding 3 Days EM...

Hey all
Been using Nokia Email for a while now and up until last week all was well. But curiously email started dropping out of my inbox - just dissappearing.
Checked the settings and it is still set to retain a months worth, but for some reason the app has reverted to holding but 3 days.
Any ideas people?

I have been having this three day issue myself and have been wondering if the Nokia Email server is just ignoring the value set by the device. I am going to see if I can figure out exactly what the problem is and if I do I will let you know. I do not believe it has to do with logs filling up though as I have seen it consistantly across multiple devices that were just freshly installed.
In fact I do wonder if my problem is that it will only sync more than 3 days if the client has been running for more than 3 days, which mine often do not.

Nokia E71 sync cause multiple calender entries

I've got a Nokia E71 and every time I sync between my PV (Windows XP) , Nokia E71 and my iMac i seem to get multiple calender instances of mainly repeating calender notes as birthdays and national holidays. I've tried to remove all the contacts with birthdays from my PC. When re-syncing the multiple calendar items will show up again. Seems that the PC and Mac read the calendar notes differently and hence after every synchronization add the same calendar series of i.e birtdays. Any solution to this annoying problem ?

if you are only having a few of the units with the challenges, check to see if there has been any other apps installed that may have affected the MfE that you installed on them to interface wtih your exchange server.
if there are no challenges there, then i would suggest uninstalling the MfE on the devices and then rebooting the device and then reinstalling it back on the device and setting it up again.
i had the problem only one time in the past and changing the settings seemed not to fix it at all. but restarting the process did.
also, there could have been an issue with the coveraget those employees were in with thier handsets which could have prevented the unit from syncing, causing internal confusion, then trying again and backlogging the transfer....just a theory...as sometimes the network locks the data connection and while it shows that it is connected, it is frozen.
may be a good idea to see where those affected units are "travleing" in relationship to each other to see if the coverage as stated above is an issue.

Use multiple day event in Calendar region

I am using a Calendar region in my application. One issue i have run into is, some of my events are multiple-day events, such as a conference. The calendar application does not seem to be able to deal with multiple-day events. It takes one date as the date. There doesn't seem to be any way of dealing with multiple day events. In my case, I have 2 date fields in my table associated with my calendar - a starting date, and an ending date.
Has anyone found a way to deal with this situation? I don't want to have a separate entry for each date of the event. I'd like to be able to use my start date, and ending date fields.

I took the SQL you used in your trigger and substituted my table names and fields. I am getting 3 errors. Here is what my code looks like after the substitutions (my table names are 'meetings_tbl' and 'meetings_tbl_cal'):

3) PL/SQL: ORA-00984: column not allowed here
Maybe I'm not supposed to substitute ':NEW' with 'MEETINGS_TBL' ??
