  • Cannot open folders by double-clicking

I have an iMac (running Tiger) at work which I have recently joined to the network. With my iMac at home I am able to do anything I like without restrictions. Not so at work. I have a separate user on my machine at work with administrator privileges. This user does not log on to the network. When I log onto the network (using AdmitMac and Active Directory) my user account does not appear listed in Users when I log on as administrator.
The real problem I have however is that when I log on to the network, I cannot open folders in the finder by double-clicking. However, I can open them by user finder>file>open. Any ideas?
I also downloaded from IBM the latest update to Lotus Notes as a .sit file. Double clicking on this does nothing, even with the administrator account. Has this anything to do with Tiger and Classic?

  • E71 -- Cannot open SMS if E-mail notification is e...

    Hi Nokians,
I have discovered a bug. When e-mail is configured as such:-
Automatic Retrieval > E-Mail notifications > only in home network
When I open an incoming SMS,  a warning message appeared:-
"Messaging: Memeory Full. Close some applications and try again."
I checked my phone's memory, it has 95MB free memory.
I need to disable E-mail notifications, then only I am able to open an incoming SMS.
On another matter, what is the differecen between these two:-
    1. Automatic retrieval > E-mail notifications
    2. Automatic retrieval > E-mail retrieval
I can only enable either one of them but not both.
    My phone's specification:

  • Cannot open folders

I have moved a copy of the domain.sites file to a new machine as described in many other posts. Within iWeb I can access the single pages of my site but cannot open any of the folders. If I click "get info" on the domain.sites file I know all the information is there by the file size.
    Suggestions?

To eliminate the application as the culprite (or confirm it), move you domain.sites file out of your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and to the Desktop.  Then launch iWeb and create a new site when asked.  Can you click on the site's folder and see the window as well as what's in the Inspector window?
If you can't then a reinstall of iWeb is warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
If the new domain file is good then your existing domain file is  damaged.  There is one more possible fix but make a backup copy of your domain file first.
That is to try Koeklin's fix from his post in this topic: Topic : can't open a domain.sites.2.  Although for a different problem it might jump start the domain file. .

  • Cannot open folders in NEW WINDOW

Is anyone else having trouble with the Finder not opening folders in a new window?  I have gone to Finder preferences, and unchecked the box for "Open Folders in a new tab..." But I still cannot open my folders in a new window.  I have thousands of folders, and some are set to open in icon view, some in list view, etc. depending on the contents.  But now all that has disappeared.  Any suggestions???

As others have said.....first, go to Finder > Preferences and make sure the checkbox is deselected for "open folders in tabs instead of new windows".
Any folder can be opened in a new window by holding down the Command Key while double-clicking the folder. But sooner or later you will forget to hold down that key, and then a folder will open in a tab (which will probably resize the window and cause much aggravation and cursing).
If you're like me and don't like tabs very much, there is a way to make folders always open in windows with a simple double-click. (I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5).  Go to any folder on the Desktop, open it, and select View > Hide Toolbar. After that, all folders within that folder will open in a new window. I tried this with the Macintosh HD Folder (which I put on my Desktop) and all folders within it open in new windows with only a double-click.
Of course, you will lose the sidebar and the toolbar, so it's not a perfect solution, but at least you'll be done with tabs.

  • Nokia E71 Cannot send or receive MMS

    Help.
I cannot send or receive MMS on my Nokia E71.

You have to contact your mobile operator since they have the configuration data (which is operator specific).
Maybe if you let us know what your operator is (with the country) somebody might be able to help you.
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

Unfortunately the above was probably the incriminating factor for this Belle device and you may well find that you need to have software completely re-furbished at Nokia Care Point to return device to "Out of box" state.
There is a big difference between Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 from Nokia Beta Labs which took away a big chunk of free phone memory but could be removed if wanted and the production release which binds itself into device software and can't!

    Hi nbulp,
As Nokia photos 1.5 is in beta (as discussed in other forums), once its available to all users we will hope this kind of issues will be fixed, since, MMS is not opening in Nokia photos should be fixed as this is much needed feature ... So hopefully we can wait for some more time till it reaches its release to the users. I have Nokia photos 1.3.15.0 installed on my PC. Its better to install the applications once it reaches in public for all. So it doesnot mean we should not test beta applications, its great intiative from you to test and report it to concern team (for beta) regarding your issue. The more issues reported on beta will enhance the product relases with less number of issues. Good you have discussed Nokia photos issues with the forum Best of luck

  • Cannot Open Folders from Dock

Whenever I try to open a Folder from the Dock using the "Open In Finder" command the folder window does not show up but instead the Preview app starts up and scans the selected folder,i.e., Applications, for any files it recognises.
I have repaired the permissions but it makes no difference. I have removed all folder icons from the dock and replaced them but to no avail. I have deleted the dock preferences files in my Home folder & restarted but the problem remains.

I have realised that the same problem occurs when selecting a Folder from Spotlight. Instead of the Folder Widow opening Preview opens and scans the Folder for recognisable files. arrgh!

  • E71 - cannot open/read messages anymore

I was messaging friends earlier, and I tried opening an old message in my Inbox, by scrolling to it and then using the function key in the middle of the d-pad, and it does nothing. I also tried selecting options->open, and still nothing.
Is anyone else having this problem? The only time I CAN view a message now, is when I receive a new message, and on the home screen, a small preview window shows the message and I can go to it directly from there, but after that, I can no longer open any other old messages.

    Anybody?

  • Nokia 5800: cannot open messages, error when start...

In the last day, I've had an issue with my 5800 whereby when a new text message arrives, I am not able to open it fully. It seems stuck in the inbox. This has happened about 3 times.
I restarted the phone and got this message:
"Unable to install from memory card. Go to application manager" (or something like that).
I went to the application manager, but there was nothing in there.
When I went back to the messages inbox, all messages (inbox, draft, sent) were gone.
I've tried changing back and forth between the phone (C and memory card (E drives, but nothing is showing.
Any advice would be more than helpful. Thanks.

Hi, may also help if once you've cleared all messages if you go to options in messaging and select other, memory in use; select E:Mass memory, or F: Memory Card . Sorry if you're already aware of this, but it does help, also , after using usb cable always check this setting as , for some unknown reason, phone reverts to C, after being connected to computer! If there are messages you may need, sync with ovi, before deleteing. Hope this helps.
    Good Luck

  • Adobe Bridge CC crashed cannot open folders with MP4 video

My Bridge is crashing often, after trouble free for a long time. This morning I notice why, it will crash when a folder with with MP4 video is present. Video downloaded from Canon camera in MOV files are ok but as soon as this is converted to MP4 by Photoshop, Bridge will crash

    Hello,
This has been happening to me too and I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits with 8 GB RAM and Intel i5 dual-core @ 2.3GHz.
I think from all previous messages this happens regardless of the system running underneath - maybe just on Windows systems.
I thought it was about cache so I bumped my cache to its maximum and it still crashes. My cache folder is on an external HDD and space is not the issue.
I had my don't-process-files-larger-than 4096 MB because I thought it was about the amount of data it can process per file. I just changed it to 1024 and so far it has been working fine (no crashes). I invite you to try this:
Preferences » Thumbnails » Do Not Process Files Larger Than 1024 MB.
Maybe my assumptions were the other way around, may the approach of "I don't care about files larger than" 1 GB is better than to consume all.
Nevertheless, I hope Adobe has time to test this and come up with an answer.
    Best regards,

  • E71 Cannot open phonebook

    Hi,
I have this problem. When I press on the phonebook button, it just flashes the phonebook screen for a split second and then goes back to the main screen. I can only see the phonebook when I add a new contact. Has anyone resolved this problem? I am a Singapore user. Please help, it is getting on my nerves. Thanks.
    Cheers!
    Fendi

    Hi ppl,
I found that by formating the phone again, the phonebook was ok. So I guess the problem is solved. Anyway as long as your data is backed up, you should be able to set it up back from scratch in about 15 minutes.
    Cheers!

  • Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)

Fresh installation of Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012.
Our first test account cannot access their email via Outlook but can access fine through OWA. The following message appears - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize
your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)" is displayed.
If I turn off cached Exchange mode, setting the email account to not
cache does not resolve the issue and i get a new error message - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file (path\profile name).ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost). Very odd since it creates its own .ost file when you run it for the first
    time.
I cleared the appdata local Outlook folder and I tested on a new laptop that has never connected to Outlook, same error message on any system.
Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running.
No warning, error or critical messages in the eventlog, it's like the healthiest server alive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't encountered this issue with previous versions of Exchange.

So it looks like a lot of people are having this issue and seeing how Exchange 2013 is still new (relatively to the world) there isn't much data around to answer this. I've spend ALOT of time trying to figure this out.
Here is the answer. :) - No I don't know all but I'm going to try to give you the most reasonable answer to this issue, in a most logical way.
First thing I did when I was troubleshooting this issue is that I ignored Martina Miskovic's suggestion for Step4 http://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj218640(EXCHG.150)because it didn't make sense to me because I was trying to connect
Outlook not outside the LAN but actually inside. However, Martina's suggestion does fix the issue if it's applied in the correct context.
This is where the plot thickens (it's stew). She failed to mention that things like SSL (which I configure practically useless - anyone who ever worked in a business environment where the owner pretty much trusts anyone in the company, otherwise they don't
work there - very good business practice in my eyes btw, can confirm that...) are some sort of fetish with Microsoft lately. Exchange 2013 was no exception.
In exchange 2003, exchange 2007 and exchange 2010 - you could install it and then go to outlook and set it up. And when outlook manual Microsoft Exchange profile would ask you for server name, you would give it and give the name of the person who you setting
up - as long as machine is on the domain, not much more is needed. IT JUST WORKS! :) What a concept, if the person already on premises of the business - GIVE HIM ACCESS. I guess that was too logical for Microsoft. Now if you're off premises you can use things
like OutlookAnywhere - which I might add had their place under that scenario.
In Exchange 2013, the world changed. Ofcourse Microsoft doesn't feel like telling it in a plain english to people - I'm sure there is an article somewhere but I didn't find it. Exchange 2013 does not support direct configuration of Outlook like all of it's
previous versions. Did you jaw drop? Mine did when I realized it. So now when you are asked for your server name in manual outlook set up and you give it Exchange2013.yourdomain.local - it says cannot connect to it. This happens because ALL - INTERNAL AND
EXTERNAL connection are now handled via OutlookAnywhere. You can't even disable that feature and have it function the reasonable way.
So now the question still remains - how do you configure outlook. Well under server properties there is this nice section called Outlook anywhere. You have a chance to configure it's External and Internal address. This is another thing that should be logical
but it didn't work that way for me. When I configured the external address different from the internal - it didn't work. So I strongly suggest you get it working with the same internal address first and then ponder how you want to make it work for the outside
    users.
Now that you have this set up you have to go to virtual directories and configure the external and internal address there - this is actually what the Step 4 that Martina was refering to has you do.
Both external and internal address are now the same and you think you can configure your outlook manually - think again. One of the most lovely features of Outlook Anywhere, and the reason why I had never used it in the past is that it requires a TRUSTED
    certificate.
See so it's not that exchange 2013 requires a trusted certificate - it's that exchange 2013 lacks the feature that was there since Windows 2000 and Exchange 5.5.
So it's time for you to install an Active Direction Certificate Authority. Refer to this wonderful article for exact steps - http://careexchange.in/how-to-install-certificate-authority-on-windows-server-2012/
Now even after you do that - it won't work because you have to add the base private key certificate, which you can download now from your internal certsrv site, to Default Domain Policy (AND yes some people claim NEVER mess with the Default Domain Policy,
always make an addition one... it's up to you - I don't see direct harm if you know what you want to accomplish) see this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738131%28v=ws.10%29.aspx if you want to know exact steps.
This is the moment of ZEN! :) Do you feel the excitement? After all it is your first time. Before we get too excited lets first request and then install the certificate to actual Exchange via the gui and assign it to all the services you can (IIS, SMTP and
there is a 3rd - I forgot, but you get the idea).
Now go to your client machine where you have the outlook open, browse to your exchange server via https://exchang2013/ in IE and if you don't get any certificate errors - it's good. If you do run on hte client and the server: gpupdate /force This will refresh
the policy. Don't try to manually install the certificate from Exchange's website on the client. If you wanna do something manually to it to the base certificate from the private key but if you added it to the domain policy you shouldn't have to do it.
Basically the idea is to make sure you have CA and that CA allows you to browse to exchange and you get no cert error and you can look at the cert and see that's from a domain CA.
NOW, you can configure your outlook. EASY grasshoppa - not the manual way. WHY? Cause the automatic way will now work. :) Let it discover that exachange and populate it all - and tell you I'm happy! :)
Open Outlook - BOOM! It works... Was it as good for you as it was for me?
You may ask, why can't I just configure it by manual - you CAN. It's just a nightmare. Go ahead and open the settings of the account that got auto configed... How do you like that server name? It should read something like [email protected]
and if you go to advanced and then connection tab - you'll see Outlook Anywhere is checked as well. Look at the settings - there is the name of the server, FQDN I might add. It's there in 2 places and one has that Mtdd-something:Exchange2013.yourdomain.local.
So what is that GUID in the server name and where does it come from. It's the identity of the user's mailbox so for every user that setting will be different but you can figure it out via the console on the Exchange server itself - if you wish.
Also a note, if your SSL certs have any trouble - it will just act like outlook can't connect to the exchange server even though it just declines the connection cause the cert/cert authority is not trusted.
So in short Outlook Anywhere is EVERYWHERE! And it has barely any gui or config and you just supposed to magically know that kind of generic error messages mean what... Server names are now GUIDs of the [email protected] - THAT MAKES PERFECT
SENSE MICROSOFT! ...and you have to manage certs... and the only place where you gonna find the name of the server is inside the d*** Outlook Anywhere settings in the config tab, un it's own config button - CAN WE PUT THE CONFIG ANY FURTHER!
Frustrating beyond reason - that should be Exchange's new slogan...
Hope this will help people in the future and won't get delete because it's bad PR for Microsoft.
    PS
ALSO if you want to pick a fight with me about how SSL is more secure... I don't wanna hear it - go somewhere else...
