Nokia E71 power saver (NONE)

Hi! Can anyone answer me if it is really normal in E71 that when you chose the power saver NONE, when the screensaver clock appears, it doesn;t move and update the time unless you press and hold the d-pad that shows the big clock.. unlike when you chose the power saver NOW PLAYING, it does move up and down, and the time is being updated.

As you said, the blank screen is definitely the most energy efficient.
If the "off" setting blanks the display then I think they meant to say "Screen off" but lost the "screen" somewhere in the translation.
You should also have another setting called either "Power saver timeout" or "Lightout time".

  • Nokia N78 - Power Saver Timeout reverts to default

I received the nokia N78 from vodafone on Saturday and set it up for the power saver to kick in after 30 seconds (from the sliding option scale of 1-90 seconds. I found that after the first couple of times of this functioning as requested it reverts back to a default of 5 seconds before going into power save. The requested 30 seconds remains in the settings but still the default overrides. I tried resetting this a number of times with identical results. I received a replacement handset today and attempted similar setups of this feature with the same identical results....It becomes very frustrating when your mid text or searching the gallery and the screen goes blank despite specific settings requested....Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how I can fix this???

    N78 Firmware 12.046.051.1
NOKIA N78 GREAT BUT 3 BUGS (SO FAR)
Bug 1: On my N78 if I enable the "phone autolock period" to anything, the lights go off at 5 seconds and if I do factory defaults and do not use "phone autolock", the lights stay on as long as I set it to. Quite frustrating as I like my phone to "autolock always" if unattended or lost.
    Workaround:
    1) Factory defaults your Mobile and just don't use 'phone autolock'.
    OR
    2) A restart corrects everything temporarily, but after several timeouts, it returns to the 5 seconds setting.
Yes, it is really an annoying bug Nokia.
Bug 2: Weekly alarm; if I set a new weekly alarm for any future day and on saving it the day sets to today every time. This is just annoying.
Bug 3: With N78 ' in KEY-PAD autolocked mode', the alarm goes off when you press 'stop' for longer than a second, and surprise the message reader activates like postmaster.
Wakeup Nokia this firmware has been out for a while now and its time to come up with new firmware without bugggggggggssssssss....
Hope Nokia will come out with new bug free firmware for N78.

  • Nokia 5300 - Power Saver Problems

    Hi!
I have a 5300 and sometimes my Power Saver mode does not work.
I'm sorry but I coudn't figure out the problem reprodution steps yet. All I can tell is that from a certain point beyond the power saver does not appear although it is activated. One way to correct this is to turn the phone off then on.
Is Nokia aware of this problem?
I found a similar post about another model, the suggested explanation resided on the operator's firmware, but in 5300's case the firmware is Nokia original...
    Thank's.

I also tried formatting my memory card... that did not worrk either

  • Nokia E63 Power Saver Animation Files

    HI,
I would like to know where can I get Powersaver animation files for my Nokia E63 screensaver apart from the 2 I have got for default, or if there is any kind of  software that allows me to create those kind of files.
    Thanks.

A quick stab of the power button usually turns the backlight on for most Nokias.

  • Nokia 6233 - screen awakes from Power Save / Sleep...

I have Power Save and Sleep Mode on, but ScreenSaver off.
However, the screen often awakes from PowerSave / Sleep (not sure which - manual doesn't describe the difference) and lights up.
This is especially annoying when driving and the Nokia is on a hands-free mount: it's quite distracting, and occurs about every couple of minutes.
It may be that when driving, I'm moving between different signal strengths, and that change to the powersaved screen display activates it again. But it has also happened with the phone in a building.
    Any suggestions welcome

I have exactly the same problem, as do several colleagues. It's also very distracting when it sits on a bedside cabinet, lighting up the bedroom every few minutes in the middle of the night. Sadly I have no suggestion - just want to get this topic higher up the heirarchy so that maybe someone who knows an answer will spot it more easily.

  • Power Saver Mode in Nokia Asha 303

Hi! Can I ask how do I turn or set my Nokia Asha 303 to Power Saver Mode? Thanks!

I think there is no Power Saver Mode in 303... But you can adjust Backlight timeout.... by Settings=>lights..

    Anbody out there?
    Thanks.
Thats not possible.. BTW, why do you want to do that ?
If you want to keep a copy ( back-up) or transfer it to some other Nokia device, you can do it thru' Nokia Suite .
Install the Suite on PC and connect the phone to PC. Open the Suite-->Messaging and then select 'Sync' at the bottom next to the Phone Icon. All messages from the phone will be now visible in the Nokia Suite ( when you select 'Conversations' at the top). Now, disconnect the phone and connect another  phone which is COMPATIBLE to the Nokia Suite.. Select Inbox at the top..Select all messages and Drag and Drop them to Inbox flder next to the Phone icon..Similarly copy messages from other folders and place them in appropriate folder at the bottom ...

  • Some observations in power saver in E71

    I have observed the following:
    1. If the any power saver other than the blank screen is running, and the key pad is also locked, and then you press the D-pad central button, it shows the date, time and some other info in large font (as expected). But once the button is de-pressed, it does not return the power saver, but shows blank screen.
    2. Breathing light works only with blank screen as power saver, or if one reaches blank screen, as mentioned in the first point.
Any comments on this? In my opinion, for point 1, it should have returned to the power saver set up originally, instaed of the blank screen. The second point seems ok though, though it woould be good to have breating light in all the power savers.
    Regards,
    BK76

Yup, I concur with tobiasrieper. if you have breathing lights off, it will return to the power saver.
Anyways, hopefully some consistency will be introduced in the future firmwares. Also, it may be a good idea to link the breathing light to the power saver option, rather than profile settings. However, this is more subjective, and depends on personal preference!!

  • Font size in Power Saver mode on Nokia 3110 Classi...

When 3110 Classic goes to Power Saver mode date and time numbers  are very small and hard to read. Is there any way to increase the (date/time) numbers in Power Saver mode ? Thanks !

No, it is not possible to change that on the 3110c.

  • Nokia E71 Fading Text On Display

    Hello Nokia Owners,
Hopefully someone has seen this issue and have an easy fix, as I'm frustrated about this oddball occurrence. I'm wondering if there's a QA/QC issue at hand where these are being manufactured?
Within the past 6 days, I've purchased 2 brand new Nokia E71 phones from 2 different Walmart stores, 30 mins of each other.  These are phones for the Straight Talk prepaid service. I have not yet activated the phones on ST, as my goal is to first test the basic functionality to determine if it's worth the $200 and will satisfy my needs.
What's happening on both phones, in the same exact manner and location on the phone, is that the menu title name for some menus have fading text. It appears as though there's a display issue. I've attached some screenshots to make it easy to see what I'm experiencing.
However, when I've tested playing the included videos in the phone at full screen, it appears to play the videos through the menu title name area with no fading. The same goes for looking at images - I do not see any fading with the included images in that area.
I have done a Soft Reset on both phones using the *# option and from the "Factory Reset" option in the menu. This has not resolved it on either phone.  I have also changed themes, changed menu colors, changed the font size, none of which has resolved this.
Thus far, I've returned one phone to Walmart and ready to return the next one now due to this issue. I'm willing to try a 3rd but that's where my limit is. I really like this phone and want it, but if this issue is indicative of a fully dead or fading display after a short period of use, I will not make the investment.
    Any help is most appreciated.

When trying to unlock the keypad using the standard two keys, the screen went blank then on, blank then on (consistently, like a flicker motion) with every key I hit to unlock. (I initially hit the incorrect keys to unlock the keypad.)
Short answer: I don't know.  Other phones (the E52 and maybe the E5) have issues with the display lighting at odd times as the keyboard lock or phone lock activates (not typically when it deactivates).  So it could be a firmware issue.  But it could have also been a bad phone.

By any chance, have you performed a software update on your E73? That's the only step I have not taken, as it appears I need to activate the phone on service to do any software updates via TracFone.  I can (and have) tested the E71 on my WIFI connection which works great, but I cannot invoke a software update via WIFI.
Mmm, you could try Nokia's Ovi Suite or Software Updater software for Windows.  Instead of downloading a small patch file, you'd be downloading a complete 50 MB+ firmware file instead.  You might see a message that no updates are available, but it would be worth a try.
But something to understand about Nokia phones: they're all different.  You can have two phones with the same OS, released within months of each other (my T-Mobile E73 is very similar to the E72) and have very different issues.  Maybe they each get firmware releases at nearly the same time, and one update fixes a bug while the other includes the bug.  (I'm  exaggerating a little, but you get my point.)  The E71 is a feature pack 1 phone while the E72/E73 are feature pack 2, so while the phones share lots of surface features, their guts are often quite different.  For example, I get the impression that Nokia made substantial changes to the hardware drivers from FP1 to FP2, but not always for the better.  I have done several software updates to my phone, but have never seen the problem you described.  Hopefully it stays that way.

  • Dell 2407 Monitor entering power save mode immediately!!! :(

I have a Dell 24" 2407 Monitor hooked up to my 24" iMac (white 2.16GHz core 2 duo). Problem free for the past couple of years, until recently, my monitor keeps going into power save (when the iMac screen is active.
It's connected via DVI, and the funny thing is, is that the iMac still detects the monitor, but it's in power save mode.
I plugged the monitor into the MacBook Pro and it worked fine. So I'm guessing it's either the Mini DVI to DVI converter is stuffed OR something is wrong with my iMac. I'll try another dvi cable, otherwise will have to go to shudder VGA until I get a new Mini DVI to DVI converter. Unless anyone else has an idea as to what's going on?

How about if you open System Preferences Displays pane Display tab... Click on +Gather Windows+ on the display that is working. Then try adjusting things like resolution and +color depth+ on the non-working display to see if that has any effect.
Have you tried disconnecting the power cord on the display for a few minutes and reconnecting it? Does the display have an on-screen menu, and a command to reset the settings on the display to default?
A few more tests, if it still does not work.
Create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. In the new account, does the display work or not work properly? If it works in the new account, that would indicate some problem in your regular user account.
Also try starting up from your Mac OS X installation disc. Does the display work when you are starting up from a different system? If so, that would indicate some problem in your current installed system.

  • Aspire V3-571 not providing connected signal to monitor in power save

I recently reconfigured a number of my systems, and ended up with an Acer monitor on my Acer Aspire - the monitor had previously been used with a Dell laptop. You would think two Acer products would work better together, but it's actually slightly worse. When an external monitor is used with VGA, there are three states: the computer is driving video down the wire, the cable is connected but the computer is not sending video, and cable disconnected. The monitor can recognize these states and behave accordingly. The middle state, when the computer is either in power save mode or turned off, is the problem. In such a case, the monitor should simply blank the screen and go into its own power save mode - which it did with my Dell. With the Aspire, the monitor goes into disconnected cable mode (where it displays a moving error message forever) as soon as power save kicks in and the laptop stops sending video. This is no big deal when the laptop is off, since I can just turn off the monitor and save some electricity. But it's really annoying when the computer is on. This is especially true since this same monitor worked perfectly well with the Dell laptop. So the Acer machine is not providing a "proper" signal for some reason. My question is - does anyone know of some configuration option on the Aspire that will cause it to send a signal that the monitor will recognize as power save when the laptop is in that state - or off? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Good suggestion about checking for new drivers - always useful. Alas, there were none, but it did give me a chance to revisit the VESA DPMS spec that governs such things. Described well here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VESA_Display_Power_Management_Signaling I had forgotten that there were two intermediate levels (HSYNC on VSYNC off and the opposite). Obviously On and Off are seen by the monitor, with the latter interpreted as cable disconnect. I just don't seem to get one of the other states from the Aspire like I did from the Dell. The Intel HD4000 chipset in the Aspire claims to support DPMS, it just isn't working the way it worked with the Dell. That machine uses an older Intel graphics chipset. Once I had an oscilloscope in my garage and I could have looked at the pins to see what is being sent to the connector. No longer. I guess I just live with this unless a new driver shows up, or someone comes up with another solution.

  • Dell 2407WFP MacBook Pro Power-Save

I've just picked up a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and attempted to connect it to my Dell 2407WFP monitor, via DVI with a genuine Mini DisplayPort to DVI connector.
The monitor is working well as an extended desktop, however, when the system attempts to put the monitor(s) to sleep, the Dell gets stuck in a loop. It shows the "going into power-save mode" repeatedly, but never gets there.
The monitor does seem to correctly go into power-save when the system is shut-down.
I've read some similar threads, but none referring to this model.
Any help would be much appreciated

My Dell 2407wfp works fine with VGA, but I couldn't get it to work with DVI.  I narrowed the problem down to a faulty MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter.  The Dynex brand one was not working properly and kept causing the monitor to attempt to enter power save mode.  (The Dynex adapter would get warm even when no cable was plugged into it!) I bought a genuine Apple adapter at Best Buy and now it works fine.  If that doesn't help try resetting PRAM (command-option-P-R  on start up).

  • 6300 power saver & sleep mode

    Hello,
My problem is that after only one week that passed after I bought a Nokia 6300 my power saver and sleep mode stopped working. I tried turning them on and off or even put one on "off" and the other one "on" but it seems they just stopped activating.
Did anyone encounter this problem or know how to solve it, because it's anoying to have always the phone in idle mode.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Power save function on N8

    Hey people,
Been doing a few tests recently with power save and I've come to a conclusion that it's rubbish and shouldn't be used. Sorry if this is old news but I had a quick search and couldn't find anything.
My phone basically lasted just under 2 days with light usage activating power save when I went to sleep. Went to bed with a full battery, woke up with 1 bar gone!
I then did another full charge and didn't use power save at night. I have just charged my phone after almost 6 days, again with light usage. 5-10 texts a day, checking email, football results etc a few short phone calls and a bit of camera use plus watching video's I have recorded!
So what's up with that then? Power save my a**e.
At first I thought it was nokia battery monitor doing it so I un-insatalled it. I have just re-installed it and am going to test now to see if can last another 5-6 days. I guess it depends on my usage. Battery monitor is quoting me just over 2 days usage time.
5-6 days usage time for a smart phone though is awesome. I have to congratulate Nokia for that.
    Ben

The reason I cannot give a solution on the forums is because this particular solution requires a phone interaction.  It is not something that can be done on the forums due to the nature of the solution and collecting personal information that is not allowed to be displayed on the forums for all to see.
It is more or less for the protection of the users that I am not able to provide a solution in a public forum.
