Nokia E71 sync cause multiple calender entries

I've got a Nokia E71 and every time I sync between my PV (Windows XP) , Nokia E71 and my iMac i seem to get multiple calender instances of mainly repeating calender notes as birthdays and national holidays. I've tried to remove all the contacts with birthdays from my PC. When re-syncing the multiple calendar items will show up again. Seems that the PC and Mac read the calendar notes differently and hence after every synchronization add the same calendar series of i.e birtdays. Any solution to this annoying problem ?

if you are only having a few of the units with the challenges, check to see if there has been any other apps installed that may have affected the MfE that you installed on them to interface wtih your exchange server.
if there are no challenges there, then i would suggest uninstalling the MfE on the devices and then rebooting the device and then reinstalling it back on the device and setting it up again.
i had the problem only one time in the past and changing the settings seemed not to fix it at all. but restarting the process did.
also, there could have been an issue with the coveraget those employees were in with thier handsets which could have prevented the unit from syncing, causing internal confusion, then trying again and backlogging the transfer....just a theory...as sometimes the network locks the data connection and while it shows that it is connected, it is frozen.
may be a good idea to see where those affected units are "travleing" in relationship to each other to see if the coverage as stated above is an issue.

Unfortunately only one Mail for Exchange (ActiveSync) account is supported on Nokia E71.

Nokia 6303 classic - home screen calender entries

Just changed my 6300 for this. Like the phone but don't seem to be able to get calender entries for the day on my home screen. Also, I don't seem to get the notes associated with calender entries even when viewing in the calender app. Any suggestions?

Not sure but you may try this.. With the navigation key (joystick) highlight the Note on the homescreen and then select (press the navigation key).. Does it open now ? If so .. you may get the Edit option too...

Nokia E71 MfE causing symptom of meeting attendee ...

Does anybody experienced the issue that I describe bellow?
** Exchange 2007 SP2 RU4 **
Removing single occurrence of a recurring meeting from the device makes that user the meeting originator.
- Steps to reproduce the issue:
- Have user 1 setup a recurring meeting with user 2.
- Have user 2 accept the meeting with the device
- Have user 1 cancel one recurrence of the meeting
- Have user 2 remove the occurrence from his calendar on the device
- Actual outcome:
- user 2 became originator of the meeting
- Expected outcome:
- User 2 should not be the originator of the meeting
After further analysis we identified that the item have some attributes changed:
meeting request - missing organizer from Recipient Table, but 8217 and PR_Sent correct
actual appointment - missing organizer from recipient table AND 8217 set incorrectly, but PR_Sent shows correct.
E71 was already updated to MfE 3.00.050.
Any thoughts?

Well, I faced this problem with E63. The reason seem to be some complexity with Exchange/Outlook entries that Nokia Calendar cannot handle. In that cases the following devices/software acted as:
Nokia E61i with Mail For Exchange refused to sync such entries and Calendar works.
HTC Touch Viva with ActiveSync (Microsoft product inder Windows Mobile) refused to sync such entries and Calendar works.
Nokia E63 (mine now) with Road Sync refused to sync such entries and Calendar works.
Nokia E63 (mine now) with Mail For Exchange syncs successfully, but Calendar fails to work.
Well, all first three cases is the one with the first mesage (E71). It has no solution as I think. The fourth one is the case with the mesage I reply to, for that, I think that Nokia need to check it out.

Core Data: doing a FetchRequest causes multiple object entries

Pretty new to Core Data but I have a simple model and associated table view and controllers all hooked up and working with no code. I wanted to do the classic "set the date to today's date" when I add an object to my table.
I subclassed my NSManagedObject entity and put in the awakeFromInsert method to set the date attribute to now. Works great. Click the Add button and I get a new entry set with it's date property set to today's date.
I wanted to add a little more initialization by setting another attribute to the value of an attribute in another entity in the same awakeFromInsert method. So, I created a FetchRequest and Fetched the other Entity and pulled off the 0th object from the array. That works fine but now when I click the Add button to add an entry to my list, I get two entries. Each time I click the Add button I get two more entries.
I can comment out the FetchRequest call and I'm back to one entry per Add click. I set a breakpoint in the awakeFromInsert and it only hits once.
I'm stumped. There's virtually no code in this project except for the awakeFromInsert method and I can't figure out why I get two entries.

More Info: The two entries are actually pointing to the same object. If I save the context and restart, I only have one entry (I can also see this by looking at the XML store).
It seems that the NSTableView is getting messed up somehow after the FetchRequest. Still stumped.

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Nokia E71 Calendar Memos across multiple days

I recently got a German Nokia E71
(E71-1 Software Version: 100.07.76 08-06-2008).
I noticed a strange behavior of the calendar:
When I create a memo that goes across multiple days (lets say 10 days or 14 days) In Month view the memo is shown correctly for the set time. Also when synchronizing with MS Outlook the memo is shown correctly on the PC.
But when you open the Memo directly (open day view, select the memo and press the center of the nav-key) then the memo is displayed to last one day longer than originally specified.
For example I created a memo that should end on the 11th of September (actually it starts in August so maybe spanning the Month barrier may also cause the problem) but it is shown to end on September 12th when I open it. Although it is shown correctly in Month view (shown on 11-Sept, not shown on 12-sept).
Maybe you have similar experiences?
Or an explanation for that behavior?

I think I'm experiencing the same thing, Sebastian.
Phone: E71 bough from 3 in the UK ~20months ago.
Firmware: 100.07.76 08-06-2008 RM-346 E71-1 (241.02)
Here's how it happens:
Step 1) I create a memo on the calendar with the phone.
Step 2) I do an Ovi sync over the air (i.e. there is no use of the PC Suite or Microsoft Outlook going on).
Step 3) Some (but not all) of my single day memos are spread over two (2) days.

As you can see in the 'wrong' example, instead of memos showing up as lasting for 1 day duration it's apparently "23 hours, 59 minutes" in duration, and ends on 18/07/2011. And yet it's spread over the 18th and 19th on the month view. The correct date (as entered and displayed on my phone) is actually the 19th! The same goes for all those other 'wrong 2-day memos': they should all only be shown on the second of the two day bar that's visible in month view.
At the moment, for some unknown reason, the problem seems confined to April-October of this year (and subsequent and prior years) and dates are stretched back by a day so they appear on the web version of the Ovi calendar as lasting for two (2) days instead of one (1). But I think that the problem has been more widespread and across-the-board in the past, and it may have put dates forward by an aditional day (although I can't be sure on that.
Thankfully, all these memos remain as correct on the phone and seem to be unaffected by the sync.
When it first happened I made an attempt to correct the Ovi Web Calendar memo sync problem before (thinking it was a once only bug) by going through all the Ovi calendar entries on the web interface and tidying things up that way. But I'm not prepared to go through all that hassle again.
It's a real niggle, to say the least.
What can be done?

How to restore deleted calender entries on E71

I have rather head buttingly deleted all entries when wanting to delete a single entry, a momentory lapse of concentration God dammit...
Is there anyway to delve deep into the phone hardware to do some kind of system restore?
I am not a techie so laymans terms would be greatly appreciated!

Provided that you have performed a sync. in the first place, I can think of few ways:-
1. Restore from Nokia Backup
2. Restore from Outlook (Ovi maybe?)
If you are using Outlook, on the setting, select "Nokia PC Sync Advance Setting > Direction > Only update PC data to mobile phone " to restore your data.
As for restoring from phone, if there is a "recycle bin" in Symbian OS, then perhaps it can be done.

Hello Kerrigaj,
After a re-install of OS X 10.5.8 uninstalled the E71 in iSync and moved it out of the bluetooth-device list first and completely re-installed it using the bluetooth manager (SystemPreferences/Hardware).
No extra thirdparty-software involved and ever since no problems.

Still not resolved: cannot sync iCal with either my iPhone or Nokia E71

I have tried everything that has been suggested in these posts, but neither the iPhone NOR the Nokia E71 want to sync with my iCal calendars (I have 4 set up in one iCal application). Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this? It used to work fine, but not is suggesting that the iCal calendar is not "writable".

I have just discovered something else on this issue (which still persists)..when I set up an appointment in the Nokia, it does find calendars to sync with but in Entourage instead of in my iCal? Does this help solve the problem that I have been having syncing iCal with Nokia/iPhone?? Anyone???

E71 system error with meeting entry

Hello everyone, I just bought my E71 and I have the following problem: when I try to add a meeting, after i do "done" it gives me:system error.
when I try to insert a "to do" or memo, it works fine but when I write a meeting I have this error.
I tried to add a meeting on outlook and then I syncronized, after this I have a "to do" or task on my phone and not a meeting.
The sync works fine.

Thanks for the info. After many redundant backups and original setting realoadings I managed by trial and error to work out that the error is caused by the backup utility whenever you backup calender or todo notes.
So I fixed it by making a full backup of my phone, but excluding calender and todo notes. Then I reset to original settings, and loaded the backup. Works fine now.
Its a bit of a hack that the backup utility cannot restore calender entries correctly...

Undo Nokia - Outlook Sync

Hi,
big time problem. I have deleted all my calender entries and task entries on my E71 and then accidently synchronized it via PC Suite with Outlook. The result is that all my Outlook calender entries and tasks have been deleted (92 items). That is a disaster...
I am desperate right now. I can still see the sync report where it is mentioned which elements have been deleted but is there anyway to undo the action or to sync back the items from the sync report (log file)?
Any help will be appreciated...

Hi,
First i dont think you can Undo your Nokia-Outlook Sync
But if you have not done any other sync after your deletion sync, connect your phone, on your system tray you can see the pc sync icon(similar to yin yang symbol), right click on this icon. You can see option called View last report, save that Log file, so that atleast you can see what all are the items got deleted.
I knew its not the reply you are looking for but someway you can check what all are items got deleted

Missing calender entries

Hello all,
we often have problem syncing calender entries in an Enterprise environment :
Not all of the entries are synchronized, some are missing.
Thi smostly happens on big mailboxes (more than 15 GB), but it could occur on smaller ones also.
When we reset the user or installing a new iOS, the problem wents away, but you can't say how long it would be stable.
We're using iPad2 (64GB) with iOS 4.3.3, Novell GroupWise 8.0.2 as Corporate Mail System and Novell Data Synchronizer for communication between both.
Any suggestions ?

Can the users see the missing items from OWA?
Have you checked the Deleted Items folder in your Outlook?
Does the users affected sync their calendar with handheld devices? This may cause the calendar item missing.
In addition, if the users are using Outlook in cached mode, please switch to online mode to check the result.
If they installed any anti-virus, please temporarily disable it and test the issue again.
