Nokia E72: Memory full. Delete or move some data f...

HI All,
I've recently purchased a Nokia E72 phone for business use and after about three days of trouble-free operation it has suddenly run out of space on the phone system drive C:. This is very surprising as I am not aware of installing any apps or generating any content on C: since the last time I verified the available space exceeding 120 MB.
I keep on getting a message "Memory full. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory.", am unable to enter the menu and the phone keeps on rebooting.
I've read a couple of posts from others experiencing this problem on various places on the Internet but no signs of a solution. Does anybody else have the same problem and/or knows the solution?
I would really appreciate any advice you could give me!
Thanks,
Jan

This is just my experience of "older" phones and memory issues;
If Opera (mini) is installed, uninstall it.
Restart the phone...reinstall this "critical" application on C.

  • Nokia E72 Memory (RAM) Problem

    Hi everyone,
I recently installed Opera Mobile 12 in my phone and have been facing RAM problems a lot lately.... After I surf the internet for sometime, i frequently get the messege showing ''Memory Full: Please Close Some Applications and Try Again''... Its not that I faced this in earlier versions of Opera Mobile but it was less frequent and multitasking was easily possible.... Now, other programs (like whatsapp, mobipocket reader, music player etc) cannot be run along with the browser and most of the time I minimize the browser, it exits and often, it exits while i'm still browsing.... Sometimes, when I get the memory full error, my theme disappears and the default theme of my phone loads up instead.... Can I work a way around this problem?? According to my mobile guard, the Opera eats away around 30-35 MB of RAM... When i boot up, I have around 45 MB of RAM available.... Can I increase my free memory so that I can browse, chat and listen to music side by side with none of the processes getting automatically killed?? I've tried workarounds such as the ''KillMe'' app to close unnecessary processes and although it frees some RAM, the problem still persists... Please help...

Last night i deleted my messages in my inbox and sent box.
afterwards i didn't do anything else and suddenly just stopped working. i turned it off and turned it back on and it came up with
Memory full. Delete or Remove some data from C: Phone Memory.
and then every so often would come up with system error
i tried going into things like the photos or video and internet and apps pages to view them but it would just freeze and not do anything...
i recieved some text that were sent like 3 hours before when i thought it was working and i could text back as when you go to reply you can't go into the screen to start touch screen typing....
i finally got into the C: drive by connecting to my comp and deleting stuff even though the C: is not full it keeps coming up with this...
i can't connect to comp and PC suite has never worked to try and update software or something and it now doesn't have the settings to go on internet itself to get updates. i have got vodafone to text me configs for internet but it says its already saved and it still doesn't work...
    any ideas peeps???

do you have some apps installed on the phone memory istelf. there are some apps that will only install on the phone and not the memory card. is your firmware up to date? did you add anything new, try also removing some of the messages from the memory card and all the folders, send, inbox, outbox if applicable and see if this will make any difference.

I get this "Memory full. Please close some applications and try again" error message when manually entering the "Help" menu on my E51 and browse the help entries.
If I choose the Help option from within an application, it opens without problem.
I have about 35 MB left on c: and 5.5 GB/8 GB on the e: so what could be the problem?
I also get this error in the Application manager sometimes. Do I have too many apps installed?

I get this error message sometimes on my e65 when browsing. Just happened now and there is about 45MB of RAM free and with running applications taking just over 1MB.
What gives ? Getting the battery out is not exactly a solution to see the rest of the web page if you see what I mean :-)

  • 9300i Memory Full - Delete some files - Memory Ful...

I had trouble with my 9300i, it started saying "Memory Full" and told me to delete some files. The problem was, I tried to delete files, but the phone couldn't do it, because the memory was full... I couldn't do anything.
The Control panel's "Memory" said I had 500 Kb of messages, 500 Kb of calendar, and 79 megabytes of "Other file types".
The File manager did not show me anything other than "My own files" and the folders were empty.
I couldn't find any help from Nokia sites. A friend adviced me to make a Full backup on a MMC card, transfer it to PC and delete a certain file: Mail/index. That's what I did, then I resetted the phone to factory settings and transferred the Full backup back to phone.
This helped and my phone was once again operational. However, all my messages were gone, and I had to save the email settings from scratch, so beware, if you need to do the same.
So how can the memory fill 100% if I use the "Delete sent messages after X days" and keep deleting the new ones?! What is this "index", and why is there no clever way to make it smaller...

For next time, look in your E-Mail inbox and Sent items; mine was full of picture attachments - cleared down a few MB just in there.

  • Messaging Problem Nokia N95 - Memory Full, close a...

    Hi,
I'm having problems with messaging. When attempting to send the message "Memory full. Close applications and try again" appears - although there is no issue with the phone or card memory and are pretty empty. The message sits in the outbox and no matter how many times you try to send, will not allow.
At first I removed the SIM card, clean and replaced and this did work the first time. It no longer works at all now. Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced this before?
    Thanks, Phil

So have you checked that your memory is not FULL?
Go to the File Manager and then select Options Memory details (for the Phone Memory) do you have free memory?
Have you installed something that may be running in the background (like a theme or something else) try to use one of the default themes.
Have you cleaned (deleted) the internet cache for the browser?
If all fails you may need to do a hard reset and clean your phone completely of all installed things and downloaded content. Then try it (before you start loading your stuff).
Phones have a limited amount of resources and can get full very easily without you knowing. Programs use the Phone memory to store temporary files that never get deleted. DRM songs also consume memory even after you deleted the songs, etc.

  • Nokia 5800 Memory Full!

After I Downloaded The Latest Version Of Ovi Maps,My Memory Got Lower And Lower. Please Help me!!!

    Hello farby,
    Thanks for your feedback.
I am not 100% sure if Messaging is the sole killer.
When I switched off Messaging off, I didn't experience "Memory Full" for 15-min navigation after increasing the memory to 80% as you recommended.   I have "Blacklist" installed from Ovi and was on all the times without problems to answering calls.  When I leave Messaging on, I experienced the said issue.
    First, I will un-install Blacklist.
It's sad to remove an useful tool Nokia endorsed to screening junk promotional calls in HK.
Unless I am wrong, Nokia should validate all applications before posting them on Ovi.  If not, what's the meaning of having Ovi?
    Thanks anyway.
Just curious,  are you based in Finland?

  • Acer Iconia One 7 internal memory full and cannot move apps to external sd card

Hi, I have the Iconia One 7 (model B1-730) running kitkat (4.4.2) which has very few apps installed (it is only a month old) and I am already getting an internal memory full error.  I have a 64 GB external SD Card but I can't figure out how to move any of the apps to the external card.  On my wifes phone (Galaxy S3) you just go into the app in the settings and there is a button you can push to move it to the external memory but I am not seeing any such button here. Please help, Thanks,

you can move only non system application (default installed applications), you will find the same button to move to SD but notice that on kitkat google changed policy on SD data management and this limited a lot the "move to SD" option. samsung by-passed that going against Google rules, Acer didn't.

  • Can't delete or move some messages

After upgrading to Leopard, I checked my mail and got several hundred messages. At least half of them have the following properties: (1) they are blank when I open them (2) I cannot delete them (3) I cannot move them to another mailbox manually (4) Mail rules will not move them automatically.
As I upgraded, I moved some files around manually, like preference files, to get Mail up and running, so I may have corrupted something.
    Any ideas?

A little more info - my Inbox is now working correctly with new messages, but I can't get rid of the existing faulty messages. I've tried deleting the "INBOX.mbox" file but they just won't go away.
    Thanks!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here.
Recently my C5-03 has a flashing envelope on the screen saying the SIM memory is full.

    Hi Hardstylehunt3r,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
Sorry to hear about your issue but there certain steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Memory full messages may occur if there are too many applications running at the same time or if there is not enough free space in the phone memory. Depending on the error message, the following actions can be taken:
"Memory Full: Close some applications and try again"
In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
"Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
"Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options >Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
    Contact information.
    Calendar notes.
    Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (selectOptions > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
    Or you can try this:
To release the phone memory and change the email store from the phone memory to the memory card, follow the steps below.
Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other.
Select  Memory in use> Memory card.
To question Copy all messages to the new message memory?, select Yes.
To question Save original messages?, select No if you want to release the phone memory or select Yes if you wish to keep the original messages in the phone memory.
Alternatively you can sync your phone with Nokia suite and clear the messages that way if it is not showing on your device. Full instructions on how to sync can be found on the follwing link:
    http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/service/ovi_on_your_computer/howto/support-suite-syncing-and-backin...,
If this doesnt help you can try doing a soft reset by inputting code *#7780#. This wont delete any data but rather reset your phone settings. If the device ask for a default code this is usually 12345.
There's a lot to try to resolve here so give it a go and let me know if any helps.
    Regards
    Raoul_Duke

  • 5800 Memory full... sigh...

I want to install Qt, because it may be the only functional piece of software that comes out of Nokia. Consider a Sony Ericson, or indeed a Gentoo build - installing an application will require a little research, but it will work. The 5800 seems simple enough, and indeed it is. If there's enough internal memory.
It's the latest of the millions of problems I have with this phone - the internal memory is full. Hardly surprising with the pathetically shrimpy 86MB inbuilt memory. Enough room for a few Nokia applications - you know, the ones that demand that they be installed on the internal memory, then fail to function properly anyway - Eg: Nokia maps (8mb), Ovi maps (7MB) (And for some reason, both need to be installed.)
Tell me if I'm boring you.
Qt needs to be installed on the internal memory and consumes a relatively "copius" 11MB. "Application mgr" lists a load of meaningless applications - I'm left terified that deleting any one of them with render the phone unusuable - not that much different to it's current state to be honest. Best stick to removing familiar applications.
The fact I must remove Nokia Maps to make room frustrates me, but nevertheless, I proceed to the "Application mgr" on a mission to make some space. However, as with all excellent quality software created by Nokia, there is a small catch. It seems that "Application mgr" requires memory to uninstall a program. Hence, with 61KB free on the internal memory, attempting to uninstall a program results in the ever-so-helpful "Memory low. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory". Lovely.
The developers' ignorence genuinely discombobulates me. A paperweight, it seems, is the future of this "smart"phone.
It's seems I've paid £200 on a Nokia 5800 just for an excuse to rant about something else that's ruining my life.

  • Calendar memory full

    Hi there,
I've got an N96 and every time I try and open the calendar it says "Memory full. Close some applications and try again". I'm not sure how many calendar entries I've got but it's obviously quite a lot.
Some of these entries are pretty important so I'm getting quite worried about not being able to retrieve them. Any suggestions? Would synching it with Outlook work?
    Thanks a ot.

Thanks a lot. I ordered a USB cable yesterday so I'm hoping that will work. I don't think it's a case of having too many applications open because even just after I've turned the phone on and tried to access that calendar, I still get the same message. The rest of the time I just get message saying 'Memory full. Delete orf move some date from C: Phone Memory'. Does anyone know if deleting other things (messages, notes etc.) would solve the problem?
Has anyone else had similar problems?
Any help would be much appreciated!
