Nokia E90 Backlight in Wireless Car Mode

I am using the wireless car kit option with a bluetooth car kit, but have a power supply into the Nokia when in the car holder. I would like the backlight to be permanatly on when in the car, but this only seems possible if you have a wired car kit. Does anyone know the way around this. There is no problem draining the phone battery as it is permamently charging when in teh car.

i dont have E90, but try to go to the enhancement in the settings/general, and see if there is any option for power management to keep the lights ON, i know that on music stand there is one, i am not sure on the wireless car kit though

  • Nokia Car Mode with mirrorlink - can't buy or inst...

    Hi there.
I have a problem with Nokia Car Mode with mirrorlink app.
    I can't buy it!
I'm using the Nokia 808 FP2 and the Car Mode comes preinstalled but every time I want to buy the mirrorlink app it just says that I can launch it, and when I click it it just opens the ordinary Car Mode app!
I've bough a Alpine ICS-X8 just so that I can use my phone with this radio, and now I can't even buy it! -.-
Please fiy that as soon as you can, couse I see that I'm not the only onw ith the problem...

    Hi.
    Here my solution.
At the end, the only way for me to install Mirrorlink in my Nokia 700 with FP2 as I don't have another phone with FP1 was to install a custom rom with car mode removed and then buy the Mirrorlink app in the Nokia store from the phone.
As the car mode is not installed there´s no problem in buying, downloading and installing the Mirrorlink app.
Then you install the official firmware back if you don´t like the custom, and go back to Nokia store and there's no problem now updating to Mirrorlink.
As I didn't find a custom rom without car mode I did one myself.
It's not too complicated to do one for yourself, in my case I took the Delight custom rom for the Nokia 700 (if you use it just donate to the author), then with Nokia Cooker program (if you use it just donate to the author) edit it looking in rofsx2, rofsx3 and core for any file with "carmode" and remove it.
Then you compile it, save the modified rom and flash it into your Nokia and thats all.
The first time you turn on your phone will appear an error but its because the system expects to find the carmode app and it's not installed (you need more knowledge of symbian programming to avoid that) but as soon as you install mirrorlink the error dissapear.
If you find this useful please le me know saying something in the forum.

  • Lumia 920 Wireless Car Charger?

Technically, I'm not part of the Nokia community yet, as I don't have my Lumia in hand. But, I am getting the 920 on December 1st. I am ridiculously excited! But onto my question, has anyone heard or read anywhere that Nokia is developing a wireless car charger? I love the idea of my phone sitting on a dock(Attached to a cigarette lighter of course) and being able to pick it up and answer a call and not have to worry about the cord getting caught on the e-brake or snagged somewhere and unplugging from the phone when the phone is picked up. I just think this would be a great accessory!

It isn't wireless, but Proclip has come out with a 920 car mount with integral charge connector. Been using their stuff for years and highly recommend. The concept is two part, one specifically for the car, and the other for the device. They have an optional Move Clip system that makes moving device holders and changing them more convinient. The site is at http://www.proclipusa.com
One 920 specific one is here
I have the non-powered one for the 920. Almost looks like you could slide the charge plate behind it, but the wall wart isn't USB. Haven't looked to see what the power requirements are for the wireless chargers. Might be a project for a motivated techie. I am a techie, but the motivation is an issue.

  • Nokia Car Mode on N8 - Bluetooth disconnects when ...

After recently upgrading to Belle, I installed Nokia Car Mode because it is what I had been looking forward to the most. However it simply disconnects the Bluetooth connection to my car's audio system a few seconds (maybe 5 seconds) after I enter the Music module.
    Steps to recreate:
Start car (1999 BMW M3 running DICE Mediabridge 1500 connected to CD43 head-unit). Car's Bluetooth mode is on and car is discoverable.
Launch Nokia Car Mode on Nokia N8
Pair phone with car using the Bluetooth pairing button on the launch screen. Pairing is successful so continue by pressing the Start Car Mode button.
Press on the Music button to enter the Music module. Music attempts to start playing automatically. The display on the head-unit says "PLAYING", but no sound from the speakers and then the BT connection ends in about 5 seconds.
Thinking that perhaps my old BT pairing info might be saved/corrupted and not usable with the new Belle firmware, I performed a complete reset and re-installed Belle using a tool whose named I should not mention, but no luck even with a pristine build.
If I uninstall Car Mode from my phone, I can connect to my car and play music just fine. If you have navigation running simultaneously, the navigation prompts get routed through the car audio by virtue of the music player's streaming. However as soon as I re-install Car Mode, the same problem begins and remains until I uninstall it again. (If you don't uninstall Car Mode from your phone, it will launch itself automatically when it detects a BT connection with a car using the relevant BT profile.)
Here's another observation: During the 5 seconds that the phone has not yet disconnected, the Music Player's progress bar moves at a rate of about 1 second forward for every 5 seconds elapsed. So it is as if Car Mode introduces a performance issue to the playback.
So now I am living with the way things were in the Anna days: I can play music and navigation audio through my car just fine, but I really wish I had the extreme convenience that Nokia Car Mode provides (when it works as designed).

I just installed Car Mode on my Belle-equipped N8. I have two serious complaints (not sure if this is the best place to post, but here goes
    a) (Really inconvenient!) My speed dials DONT WORK! If I press and hold "2" in regular mode, I speed-dial home. In Car Mode, I just see the "2" appear, and it keeps beeping the longer I hold it! There does not appear to be a way to use speed-dial in Car Mode, which is a #FAIL (in my opinion.) You ought to be able to somehow configure this.
    b) I love Internet Radio. When you select Music, you go right into the music player and can never select Internet Radio. You ought to be able to add other audio applications to the Music button.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Nokia Wireless Car Charger (CR200) Release Date

Is there any information on a release date for the Nokia Wireless Car Charger? I saw the intro of the product at MWC, and I'm really interested in purchasing one. I haven't been able to find any information regarding the release date though. Does anyone happen to have any information about the release?
I was able to find this:
    http://press.nokia.com/products/media/7924/photo/nokia-920_wireless_charging_car_holder_cr200_lan_rg...
    But that's all.
    Thanks!

It is now two months after this last posting. Any more news? I heard the FCC approved it. Could buy one in England and then have it shipped over here. Really need it. I'm SO surprised how quickly my battery runs down when I use the Nokia Here. Great navigation, but a real battery eater

  • Nokia Car Mode with MirrorLink v2.0.6503 - can't u...

So I've bought MirrorLink app for the Nokia 808 FP2 (it's been a pain to buy it) but I've got an update and I can't install it.
I download it just fine, it installes (takes a long time), restarts my phone. And then I open Car Mode and it's still the old version.
Then I go into the store and I get the update again!
Tried 3 time, and no luck.
    Anyone got an idea?

Presumably you had to purchase this application by signing in with your Nokia account upon a different Symbian Belle device, as still says application "installed" upon 808 Belle FP2 as basic version pre-installed with device software? It makes no difference if you try to un-install this version first before trying to purchase either.

  • Car Mode App on Nokia N8

Due to the sensitivity of the N8 sensor in landscape mode when driving the screen switches from portrait to landscape and is unuseable. I have to fix the screen in one landscape with a separate app before loading the Car Mode app and this is very annoying.
There needs to be an option to force the screen into auto/landscape/portrait in the app itself.
You can see how I'm using my Nokia N8 for all my video/image footage and for live recording on my around the world tour on a diesel motorcycle here:
    http://www.andrewcharnley.com/?resources;module=view;id=259

You should have directly downloaded it to your mobile. Certain apps are restircted for mobile downloads only, as this one. Even if u managed to download it to your pc still u won't be able to install in yr mobile as .sis file is now converted to .dm. file format and your mobile will not recognise this file. To reconvert this file to sis format you need to modify the programming of this software. (Call it hacking or Unofficial/illegal way of modifyiing a software). So i am afraid its out of the bounds of this discussion forum and even if i tell u the procedure to hack it, the post will be edited by moderaters. So better luck googling.

  • Nokia Car Mode with Mirrorlink

According to several other discussion threads, download issues with Nokia Car Mode with Mirrorlink for Belle FP2 devices are still not solved.
At this time (tried on a Symbian Belle FP2 device) the Mirrorlink app in Nokia Store (http://store.ovi.com/content/268973) shows itself as "installed" and cannot be purchased and downloaded (because of the firmware integrated free Nokia Car Mode app in FP2).
Do you know any safe solution how to purchase / download this app?
(solutions mentioned in other threads: using an other Belle FP1 phone for purchasing and then transferring the downloaded install package, etc...)

well I didn't have any friends with nokia/symbian^3 devices so I had to try the delight cfw / nokia cooker method posted here somewhere (can't find the exact post again), anyway, i did that, i was able to buy the app from store, and then I switched back to oficial belle fp2 firmware and I was able to update the existing non MirrorLink app to the paid one.
And finally after a good week of forums and stuff I got to use my phone with my alpine headunit, was so happy and then disaster... the music player in belle fp2 has that album art view in landscape mode, and as far as the phone is connected to the head unit is always in landscape mode, I find it pretty hard to search music that way, especially with my music library which is... well bad organized, most songs are in unknown artist / album... do you guys know any music player for belle fp2 with a winamp like functionallity - to be able to sort playlist by path(folder name) and file name, and does not base on any id3 tag from songs?

  • Nokia E5 bluetooth connection with car

When I connect my E5 with Toyota over bluetooth I can't prevent autoanswer - my phone automaticaly answers after 2 seconds. I tried other phones (Sony Ericsson and Nokia E52) and with them there were no problems.

  • Nokia E90 and Linux... how compatible are they?

I am hoping to soon upgrade my current mobile phone (Nokia 6822) and separate PDA (a Palm Tungsten T3) to a Nokia E90. However, I have reservations...
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about how the Nokia E90 syncs with Linux Ubuntu? I know it doesn't come "out the box" with Linux support, unfortunately, but what about after-market solutions and work-arounds?
I don't mind if I sync through a USB cable or Bluetooth, as long as it works. (I really want to avoid running WINE or something similar though...)
    Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated...!
(And the day Nokia issues Linux support I, for one, will be a happy bunny!)
Message Edited by prodromoi on 11-Jan-2008 02:30 PM

Before you get your E90 you MUST think about support , I got 2 BRAND NEW and I have been a NOKIA costumer for more than 10 years (yes , I own 2 communicators of each model ever built and A LOT of accessories and other models as well...) The paint job started peeling off in about 2 weeks , wrote NOT COMPLAINING but looking for any advise , they replied that there is no support for E90 in Taiwan... but they still working good and I decided to cover them with plastic skin , later on they released an "upgrade" that does NOTHING and I did not check asuming that NOKIA of course will do things always thinking in functionality... to make it short ... 2000USD turned into garbage ...
After the upgrade none of them would recognize the backups I LOST ALL MY CONTACTS LITERALLY JOBLESS!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote to "costumer care" that really doesn't care and they tried to convince me that a hardware reset will fix it , of course using NOKIAs for more than 10 years I KNOW THIS BUT IT JUST DOESNT WORKED.
So finally they say that I had to ship my units to Finland for them to check...
THEY DID NOT NEED MY PHONES TO BE SHIPPED TO FINLAND TO BE SPOILED RIGHT?
THEY SPOILED ONLINE , SO SAME AS THE "UPGRADE" WAS SENT , I SEE NO REASON TO SEND THEM BECAUSE A BIT OF LOGIC THEY JUST NEED TO RELEASE THE DOWNGRADE ...
    After the OS "Upgrade"
    -Not recognizing backups
-Browser not working or poorly performing and phone OVERHEATS to the point of hurt your hand
-takes about 22 minutes to reboot
-A brand new NOKIA battery will last for about 4 hours if you don't use the device (20 minutes in use)
    -It turns EXTREMELY SLOW
-Battery meter shows full everytime , but after reboot it shows empty.
So ... just for you to know and consider , I do not know the new communicator N** might be good  but for now I just don't feel like risking my money on them , and due to this I am probably getting another two smartphones from a brand that AT LEAST CARE A BIT FOR THE COSTUMER.
Wrote this because someone said there is no UBUNTU support ... the truth is that there is no support at all.
Sorry to step on your excitement about the E90
You can have the one that I still have if you want.

  • Car mode bug in FP2 on 808

(This bug was also present in the betalabs version) It is possible to select 88.10MHz using the rolling wheels, but if you then select another frequency (either using the rolling wheels or one of the three recently used frequency buttons) you can't then reselect 88.10MHz using one of the the three recently used frequency buttons. It's as if a button with '88.10MHz' written in it gets ignored if pressed. I suspect a 'greater than or equal to 88.1' has got coded as 'greater than 88.1' in a line of code, thus causing this bug. It only seems to affect 88.1MHz. 88.2MHz works fine, as do the others.

It's the Car Mode that came automatically as part of the Nokia 808's FP2 update which came out in the past few days. However, the betalabs version I mentioned (which I have just realised was on an old 701 not on the 808) also had the same behaviour. In short, if the frequency 88.10 MHz ends up on one of the large 'previously used frequency' buttons it will not change the frequency to 88.10MHz and just gets ignored. I checked the frequencies at the upper end yesterday and they work properly, so it just a minor glitch.
Please try it yourself and post back. Select 88.1, then, say, 90.0, then reselect 88.1 using the big button only.

  • Quran application on Nokia E90

    Hi everyone,
I just installed the new Quran software from the nokia ramadan software on my Nokia E90. It is a very nice application. However, the browser had a problem of not viewing some text fields in most of the websites. Has anyone faced this problem? The browser worked fine after removing the software which means that the software was making the problem. I contacted nokia care centre in the middle east but they didnt reply till now. Any suggestions??????????
    Regards
    Ehad

    Hi q1rat,
Thank you for your reply. I managed to solve it by firstly installing the trial version of the new Quran software from Asgatech. They solved the font problem in this vesion. After that, unintall the software without restrating the phone and then install the free version available in the nokia Ramadan site. I hope this works on all E90 phones
    Kind Regards

  • Nokia N95 backlight problem...

My Nokia N95 backlight has stopped working recently for no reason at all. The phone turned itself off and when i tried to turn back on i had to remove the battery to do so. ever since then the backlight has not worked. Has anybody had this happen to them or know of a way to fix it..?? I have already tried re formatting and that didn't work etc.

Take it to a nokia care point because it has suffered a hardware failure. Failures like this usually happen after the phone has been dropped or bumped hard but it can just happen.
