Sometimes, it's better to help ourselves.
I re-installed Nokia S60 BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 (.SISX, 2,89 MB) that was originally developed for E90 firmware 300.34.84.
Vers. 8.23.1 appears to also work (keeping my fingers crossed) well at the moment for emails synching, for the new firmware 400.34.93
    Go to http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/blackberry_downloads.php
for  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1
I have to do try 2 times before the BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 worked properly on my E90.
During the first time, after the firmware upgrade and re-installing the backup data (that was saved before the firmware upgrade) using Nokia Suite, I found that the backup process did not re-install the BB Connect 8.23.1 automatically.  So I re-installed  BlackBerry Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23.1 using Nokia PC Suite, then did an activation on the BB.
However, activation stalled at 88% completion and "freeze" up.  By then, I see 2 BB inboxes in my Messaging > Folder view.
So I saved my emails in my Outlook on the local PC drive, and then deleted both the BB inboxes in my E90 (Messaging > Options > Delete).  Then I go to Installations > app mgr > Options and deleted the BB application totally from my E90.
I re-installed the BB Connect 4.0 vers. 8.23., and did a new activation.  [I am using BB Enterprise Server, so I have to get my IT support to re-initialise and give me the password each time i do this activation.] This time, it worked till 100% completion in synch my emails, contacts, calendar, etc.
In the past 6 hours, new emails on BB in my E90 have been coming in, and i was able to read and reply.
Hope this will continue, and the above info is helpful to others.
The new firmware appears to reduce the response time when you are using the E90.  I feel the time between pressing a command key, e.g., Messaging or Calendar, till the screen changes display, is shorter now.
Key response time is now closer to I expect from a premium phone like E90.

  • Nokia 5235 Software Issue

    Hi,
I am using nokia 5235 mobile. While trying to update mobile software  using nokia suite it is showing 12052 error.
while I am checking the mobile version using *#0000# .
It is showing the following details:
    Software version : v50.9.002
    Software version date 24-5-2011
    custom version  : 50.9.002.562.01
    Custom version date 19-07-2011
    Model : 5238           ---------------> I guess this is wrong.
    Type : RM -588
Can anyone help me how to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sha.

    Hello Sir,
Recently my mobile software is corrupted because I downloaded 2 anti virus at a time, so the mobile is not working properly.
I approached Nokia service center for update software, after 2 days they told that some problem is there with my mobile so they are not able to install the software and mobile is switched off.
Then I approached private mobile repair organization , they did something with in a 1 hour span and my mobile is working fine. After that I noticed that they have installed different version of  the software,
Nokia service center people said that some mobile mother board is not working.
Is it true. Can I update my mobile to latest nokia 5235 software.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sha.

  • Nokia E90 Software info...

    Hi !
I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me if any S60 v3 3rd party software will work with the E90 and how will it look within the internal screen ? (screenshot if possible)
    Thanks a lot !
    G.R.

Almost all S60 3rd programs are working with the E90 with a few exceptions which actually work but have a couple of minor issues like switched menue buttons, etc. These issues are mainly affecting the operation on the inner display.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia E90 Confirmed Issues/Defects

    Hi everyone,
Nokia have confirmed the following issues that have been discussed/shared in our forum. The first one is regarding the noisy background during phone calls. The other one is the scratches or contact points in the internal LCD screen caused by some keys touching the screen
Please refer to the following for more details - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2176477,00.asp or http://www.smarthouse.com.au/Accessories/Mobile_Phones/D3B7W7V2?page=1
My question is, will the affected units be replaced by Nokia given that the second issue has already been addressed and what is their time line for the resolution of the first issue.
Just hoping that someone would be able to provide a feedback or response.
Thank you.Message Edited by spectred on 12-Oct-200704:50 AM

  • GPL Software issue in Nokia Ovi Suite

    Hi,
I am trying to highlight an issue I posted earlier, about Nokia launching multiple ffdshow processes. This time with a better title maybe...
    See original link here:
    /t5/Nseries-and-S60-Smartphones/Multiple-FFDShow-processes-on-tray-with-Ovi-suite/m-p/778528
And if the link gets broken, google the topic with title: "Multiple FFDShow processes on tray with Ovi Suite"
There are three issues I think should be discussed:
    1. Why NokiaMServer is launcing so many processes?
    2. What is it doing? Converting video, but why?
    3. Ffdshow is GPL'd library. Wouldn't it make NokiaMServer at least to fall under GPL licence?

Nokia's software would only have to be released under the GPL if it linked to GPL'ed software, ie. if it incorporated it into its own libraries. If it only invokes GPL'ed software (even if that GPL'ed software is bundled with it) then there are no such constraints. If there were, you'd have to release Windows under GPL as well since it can invoke GPL'ed software through ShellExecute().
Also, the software you mention looks like it is based on ffmpeg, which is normally released under the LGPL (but can be released under GPL in certain circumstances).

  • Nokia 5530 XM, phone software issues/headaches

    Hello,
I got my 5530 XM around 2 months ago. It was my first Nokia (been a Sony Eric fan for over 5 years). Anyway i liked its touch interface and all.
But then i noticed the phone would restart (reddish/grayish horizontal lines leading to a white screen and then reboot) on average once/twice a day randomly.
I used the nokia update software to get the latest firmware, with that applied, the restarts frequency was decreased. But around 3 weeks ago, i noticed th phone would become unresponsive at times. Like i'd click on a menu item and i'd hear the small vibration of the force feedback, but nothing would launch, in such situations the phone won't respond to any touches, other than lock/unlock slide key and the turn on/off switch.
The only way to get out of that is to restart the phone. But this unresponsiveness is really annoying. I also did a re-install of the firmware from the nokia-software-updater 2 days ago, but the phone still gets stuck in unresponsive state. Sometimes you get unresponsiveness while you're receving a call. You can click all you want to accept the call but nothing would happen. sometimes i have to remove the phone cover and take out the battery and then put it back in and start the phone again to make things go back to normal.
Other than that, at times i'm unable to launch the camera. Its such an embarassment to be a nokia users, 2,3 times at party with friends i had to take some pictures with my NEW NOKIA 5530 and i noticed the camera wouldn't launch (From applications > Camera), there is the small circle on top of the camera icon (that appears for minimized applications), but clicking the icon does nothing.
Even restarting the phone doesnt help.
My phone is still within its 10/12 month warranty period. but i'm truly disappointed in nokia's software. Can someone please help me fix this problem? i've never faced any software issues with my other brand fones and i really love the touch feature of this phone and the interface but the UnTested Operaing System from Nokia is really becoming a headache for me.
Being a software engineer myself, it makes me wonder if there is any quality assurance going on in software departments at nokia. I remember watching a Nokia video on youtube showing how nice and long their hardware quality assurance tests were > which lead me to buying nokia 5530 as my next phone, but this software, it makes me dislike the phone more every passing day
    someone help please....

  • E90 software release

    Hi,
I use an E90 (curent version 400.34.93). some days back (before upgrading to the current release) when I check the site for device software update it said that release 400.34.93 was available and I upgraded my phone. Today when I check the site, it say that the latest available version is 300.34.84.
Did nokia find some issue with 400.34.93? is it that it would be better I downgraded to 300.34.84.

As far as I am aware, it's not possible to "downgrade" your FW, although there may be some unofficial ways around this...

  • 5800 XpressMusic Software Issues

After playing the phone for about a week, I found a number of software issues as follow:
    1) In the built-in web browser, it is not able to start a new line in multiline input control with the 'Enter' key.
    2) The predictive text input will be turned off automatically. This is the step to reproduce the error. Enable the predictive text input. Then go to www.gmail.com. Click on the username input. Click on the password box and then click it back to the username input. You can observe that the predictive text input is turned off.
    3) The keyboard input becomes slow when the text messages length is long. This is a problem when you are replying text to a prevous e-mail which you normally will have the previous e-mail conversation appended after your input.
    4) The built-in web browser can not be used to connect to the facebook full site.
    5) When you take the picture, the picture output is different (in terms of the exposure settings & orientation) if you use the camera button on the touch screen against the physical shutter button.
    6) Calendar are not restored to the phone either using the backup created using the file manager in the phone or using the Nokia OVI suite on the PC.

i used n95 that evry body complained abt ,hanging restarting blah blah.. when it came in the begining i used and download all types of scrappy softs..i saw results. never had any problems with the phone itself ,may be some 3rd party apps gave problems once in a while. used n73,n82,n81,e51,e65,e90,e66,e71, ....... list goes on..!!! all phones for 2- 5 months... never had any problems.. i had one slight problem with n78 only ,, earpeice speaker sound was low,, then later came to know there is a screen protector covering the speaker.. thats it..
i m amazed to see all these reviews... darn.. tooo much problems.!!!
You are correct. I have not had nearly as many of these problems that people are having. Not even close. I had one of the first gen N95's with the **bleep** battery but the phone worked well after the first upgrade.
I have an open challenge to anyone here to provide one phone, just one that has no problem. From the iPhone to any SE or Samsung phone, to Motorola. ALL phones this complicated are prone to problems because us, the consumers want faster, better, more features and we want it now. The product cycle for a phone is about 6 months from conception to birth. There is no way to properly test and debug all things in this period.
So anyone, please show me where there is a perfect phone out of the box.

I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

    Hi,
I been a Nokia user all my life and i have used nearly each and every premium phone starting from the model 2110.
it is sad that the way we are treated at least in India here. very disappointed with the bangalore call centre response.
see my message below in the board about my E90 and other problem is that i cannot see who called me last at times, i just called someone and now i am seeing the last dialled number it is of a few hours back from my address book.
My question is that, Why cannot a full testing be done from each and every aspect before the software or an upgrade is released, an upgrade should be an upgrade and not a "downgrade". Please hire us as your phone testing agents if you cannot get it done and give us a week and we will tell you where the problem is as we been using them for past 13 years.

  • Nokia E90 and Linux... how compatible are they?

I am hoping to soon upgrade my current mobile phone (Nokia 6822) and separate PDA (a Palm Tungsten T3) to a Nokia E90. However, I have reservations...
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience about how the Nokia E90 syncs with Linux Ubuntu? I know it doesn't come "out the box" with Linux support, unfortunately, but what about after-market solutions and work-arounds?
I don't mind if I sync through a USB cable or Bluetooth, as long as it works. (I really want to avoid running WINE or something similar though...)
    Any thoughts and suggestions appreciated...!
(And the day Nokia issues Linux support I, for one, will be a happy bunny!)
Message Edited by prodromoi on 11-Jan-2008 02:30 PM

Before you get your E90 you MUST think about support , I got 2 BRAND NEW and I have been a NOKIA costumer for more than 10 years (yes , I own 2 communicators of each model ever built and A LOT of accessories and other models as well...) The paint job started peeling off in about 2 weeks , wrote NOT COMPLAINING but looking for any advise , they replied that there is no support for E90 in Taiwan... but they still working good and I decided to cover them with plastic skin , later on they released an "upgrade" that does NOTHING and I did not check asuming that NOKIA of course will do things always thinking in functionality... to make it short ... 2000USD turned into garbage ...
After the upgrade none of them would recognize the backups I LOST ALL MY CONTACTS LITERALLY JOBLESS!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote to "costumer care" that really doesn't care and they tried to convince me that a hardware reset will fix it , of course using NOKIAs for more than 10 years I KNOW THIS BUT IT JUST DOESNT WORKED.
So finally they say that I had to ship my units to Finland for them to check...
THEY DID NOT NEED MY PHONES TO BE SHIPPED TO FINLAND TO BE SPOILED RIGHT?
THEY SPOILED ONLINE , SO SAME AS THE "UPGRADE" WAS SENT , I SEE NO REASON TO SEND THEM BECAUSE A BIT OF LOGIC THEY JUST NEED TO RELEASE THE DOWNGRADE ...
    After the OS "Upgrade"
    -Not recognizing backups
-Browser not working or poorly performing and phone OVERHEATS to the point of hurt your hand
-takes about 22 minutes to reboot
-A brand new NOKIA battery will last for about 4 hours if you don't use the device (20 minutes in use)
    -It turns EXTREMELY SLOW
-Battery meter shows full everytime , but after reboot it shows empty.
So ... just for you to know and consider , I do not know the new communicator N** might be good  but for now I just don't feel like risking my money on them , and due to this I am probably getting another two smartphones from a brand that AT LEAST CARE A BIT FOR THE COSTUMER.
Wrote this because someone said there is no UBUNTU support ... the truth is that there is no support at all.
Sorry to step on your excitement about the E90
You can have the one that I still have if you want.

  • Nokia E90 Map version

    Hello,
I have a Nokia E90 which I bought in Nov 2008 and had the original version (I think it is v7.40.1.2 (Blue version)) of the maps installed on my phone. I then updated my maps and got the second version (Black functionality) which I did not like, so I reformatted my phone using the code *#7370# or the hard reset * 3 Call Key and Power button all pressed at the same time.
This changed my phone back to my original version of the maps (first version) and was working fine until I recently sent my phone to nokia to have my screen repaired, they must have installed a new version of software on my phone which is now 300.34.84 NokiaE90 (213.02) without notifying me and I am trying to change my maps back to the original version which I first had using the same procedure above. This does not seem to fix the problem.
    Can anybody help please????
    Thanks

Pls my nokiaE90 is always gate hot i dont realy know wat to do
