  • E63 + Nokia EMail Service = WiFi is instantly On

Hi, I installed Nokia EMail Service at my E63 phone. I'm using WiFi to connect to mail server. I expect the following behavior: each 5 minutes (as defined in Settings) this Service should activate WiFi connection, connect to server, get new mail (if any), disconnect from server and (!) deactivate WiFi connection. However, I see that WiFi icon is shown on my main screen instantly - so the WiFi connection is always On and the phone is consuming the battery heavily. What should I do to prevent this situation?

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1380309 suggests that if you lengthen the connection period dramatically, the WiFi will connect and disconnect as you expected.  If this is true, short of there being an obscure setting in your Nokia Email client or phone Settings that does not appear on mine, this does appear to be a firmware bug.  Or maybe another user has a suggestion?

sometimes the email takes forever (hotmail and gmail  accounts) other times is imediate
and forcing syn doesn't help eitheir...
    is this normal ?
i understand that the service  is still in trial/beta mode but the persons that i know that already try it leave it definitely....
    regards,

    kevinchoo,
I have already given up on the level of support Nokia has for its customers, not even a reply to further troubleshoot after > a month of having this issue reported.
I am happy with SEVEN, and I don't think I would switch back to Nokia Email anytime soon unless their customer support improves.

  • Nokia email service and Virginmedia email address

Hi, have successfully used email service with @blueyonder.co.uk on an e71 for 12 months.
I am trying to set up a @virginmedia.com account on a friends E71 with no success. Is there a problem with this domain?
    Steve

Hi, I have exactly the same problem: blueyonder.co.uk works, virginmedia.com does not. Is there anyone who can please help us with this?
I wonder if it's something to do with a discrepancy between pop.virginmedia.com and pop3.virginmedia.com config. - but I can't get far enough to change it.
    Thanks for any advice,

  • Nokia Email Service Error : 500: Failure - Unrecog...

After installing teh new upgraded nokia messeging application, i am recieveing error for sending my email.
500: Failure - Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?
    can anyone help.
    Sachin
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well let's hope something is done... I'm about to uninstall and find something else. 3 days out of action, and I've had enough.
I thought I'd do the upgrade anyway, in case there were more settings which I could look into.... surprise surprise, there's less from what I can see! Among other things, It appears that we no longer have the choice of how we connect e.g. when I'm home or at work I connect through wireless LAN, when I'm out or travelling I use my phone network. This is gone now, so who knows how I'm connecting.
Also you might want to check out the help file, there's a whole bunch of stuff saying feature "x" isn't available unless your an "enterprise user". So perhaps this is a planned issue! We're going out of beta without warning, and now you have to pay to use the service to send emails... If so, a little warning would be nice.
Anyway, That's my conspiracy theory for the day..

  • Nokia Emails Problem delivering emails..

I m using Nokia E72 with the updated firmware the new one which released in march i think.
i was using Nokia email service with Gmail and was getting emails directly on mobile.
but from last 3 days i am having so much problem, i cant get new emails directly on mobile. My Nokia Messaging account is also active , and fone is connected with gmail , i checked everything , settings on phone and gmail server , and nokia messaging server , even doing sync manually , but nothing happens, Simply not getting any emails ,
But on the other hand i can send emails from it .
Some times its delivering emails but very late or sometimes instantly but very rare , from last 3 days this problem is annoying me too much.
I am using Gmail imap server for this, and i also tried using Yahoo , but same problem faced on yahoo, emails not coming or coming but very late and only a few ,
I have checked everything at my end , as im an advanced user not a novice so i think there is nothing wrong with the settings . i checked everything.
kindly help me out ?  i am from Saudi Arabia.
    Take care

    a) how do you go about cancelling the NM Subscription (web site would help lol)
    Just open the website http://email.nokia.com
Login with ur primary email id and password (the email id which u first setup)
At the bottom you will find subscription status: press cancel.
After doing so you will remove your subscription from NMS server.
    b) Once you have done this, how do you re-subscribe.
    Again open website http://email.nokia.com
    click SIGN up
follow on screen prompts ( mobile no in country code format, select mobile model no, email id and password)
soon you will recieve text on mobile which will automatically show u START screen.
    c) How do you then set up Nokia Messaging on phone (rather than setting up email using the email wizard on phone which just creates a mailbox in Messaging)
the above mentioned method is alternate.
    d) How do you use PULL mail???
    Activate OFFLINE profile.
click new mailbox( in menu>email>new mailbox)
input the email id(mobile will ask to connect to internet just press cancel)
put the password for email id(mobile will ask to connect to internet just press cancel)
It will create a mailbox in messaging
    open mailbox( menu>email>option>settings>when to sync>update interval>5min)
open mailbox(menu>email>option>settings>advance mailbox setting> incomming > change access point to your data plan)
open mailbox(menu>email>option>settings>advance mailbox setting> incomming > change access point to your data plan)
     hope this will help you.
drop me private message if u wish more clarification.
    regards
if this help u click green star

  • Cost of Nokia email?

    Hi all,
I picked up an E71 yesterday and got the Nokia email service installed before I really knew what had happened!  I now notice that on the website it says that the service is free for the 60 day trial.  However there's no mention of what the cost will be after that.
Has anyone been told by Nokia, or managed to find out?  I rang Nokia care but they didn't seem to have any idea of a number.
Seems a bit silly to get people to sign up to a free trial when they can't find out what it'll cost at the end!
    Thanks,
    Dave

I don't think they've announced that yet. I've been using the free version since the Beta stages, I'm still waiting to know if the cost makes it wortk continuing.

  • E72 and Nokia email Major problem

Oh Nokia what have you done. I was using the Nokia email from nokia.email.com and in there I had my yahoo.com email account. You now longer let the yahoo.com address work inside the Nokia email.
So now I had to manually add my yahoo.com email address into the E72, but everytime the phone checks for email, it takes up so much of the phone cpu power all else locks up. Even has dropped my phone call as the whole phone went into a CPU bound state...
Nokia give me back my yahoo.com email in my nokia.email.com account. Let us add them back in. What have you done. You have basically killed anyone from using a Nokia E72 and yahoo.com email address.

As for whether Yahoo is a paid service for pop email or not is not a debate here. If you are a Verizon FIOS or Comcast internet customer in the USA, you get the POP email of Yahoo free. I am one of these so it is free.
But the fact remains. I used to use the Nokia email message service and had YAHOO as one of my email accounts. It picked up my yahoo.com email for over one year with very few issues. Onfe in a while I would have to restart the phone. Then last week it suddenly stopped.
I called customer servuice and they told me that Nokia email service no longer would work as I had it, to delete the yahoo account and re-add it.
When you re-add yahoo.com email address, it forces an IMAP setup (although I can tell you how to make the Yahoo pop work as I was able to override and trick the phone). As soon as you typ in any address @yahoo.com, it forces you to their IMAP setup within the Nokia E72.
So in IMAP setup of yahoo.com email on my main Ey2  screen I have my yahoo.com email account dstatus displayed. It simply says YAHOO MAIL and in parenthesis the number of unread messages. so mine right now says Yahoo Mail (23)
I have the phone set to check for email every 5 minutes... Pick up UPTO the last 100 messages and also pickup upto 500kb of email data (the old Nokia email message service way it would ask you HOW MANY WEEKS to go back and it would pick up most all email except not download attachments)
When the phone checks. it deletes MOST every (NOT EVERY) message in the yahoo inbox. If you are wtaching the main screen, you see the "23" for the amount of unread go all the way down to 1 (never to zero I dont thing) and then count back up to either 23 or if new email is there, it will go higher.
If you are in the yahoo inbox, you see the emails disappear and then re-appear as it deletes and re-synces all the email
Now if you are unlicky to be on the cell phone during call when it does this re-sync, it take so much CPU, that soemtimes I drop, but if I am in the middle of talking, I "zap" out for a second or two and the other person is wondering what happened if I am in the middle of a sentence. Onc again the phone seems to be CPU bound and all else stops working exceopt the retrieval of that email.
So MOST of the time when the phone is checking the yahoo account, it takes up so much CPU that the phone is basically unresponsive.
I seem not to be the only one who is having issues with a Nomkia hone and Yahoo.com
LOOK  here there are at least 2 others..

NOKIA's own support people told me that the NOKIA email program changed.  Yes it changed and now people are having issues with YAHOO.COM email.
Nopw if you would lik to knopw how to setup YAHOO.COM on a pop.. simply\
create ANY other POP account. It can be real or phoney. Then go back in and simply change the settings for yahoo.
    they are simple
user name / login:  email address w/o the yahoo.com.
    pop: pop.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp:: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
password: hey its your password. dont ask me
    email adress: full [email protected]
this seems to work. it does not kill the phone. It does not re-do all he email every time.
There is something about imap and yahoo.com email that you have messed up here and alot of us are seeing it.
    NOKIA what have you done?
All I want back is what I had just over a week ago. Once of the best phones in the world, fully working with my eMail...

  • Nokia email downloadlink

I have been trying to download the link to install in my phone The Nokia Email. I am from Caracas Venezuela, and this is my phone number. +58 (my country code) 414 (the operator code) and 3258935. When I go to the Nokia email service I write the number like this: +584143258935. After selecting my phone model (E61i) and writing my phone number it tells me that I will receive a text message with the link to download the software, but the text message do not arrive to my phone. Am I writing the phone number correctly? or there is something wrong with thw nokia email service page? Can someone help me with this?
    Regards,
    Orleans1

Not sure why it isn't working for you. It's still a beta service so nothing is guaranteed to work.
You can make the email team aware of this issue by using the "feedback" link in the top right hand corner of http://email.nokia.com
They may respond to you with an alternative way of downloading it.

  • Nokia Email Beta - Battery problems

    hi,
i have just recently purchased the E71. i used it for about a week before installing the new Email Service Beta. Since installing it, I don't seem to get more than 24hours out of the phone, which should last 10 days.
I also noticed that once the Nokia Email Service Beta was installed the 3G network connection stays permanently connected. I wondered if this might be part of the reason for the battery being used up so quickly?
I realise this is a very early beta, so i'm just pointing out my experience (reporting bugs) rather than looking for a solution.

If you still want to receive e-mail on the phone but don't need to know the second it arrives, then you can have the phone poll your e-mail account every 30 minutes. Furthermore, you can have it do so only between certain hours and on selected days
The phone will then only connect periodically, you'll still know fairly quickly if there's mail for you and your battery will last much longer.
IMAP4 is a good solution to synchronize mail across multiple machines. Whenever you sync to your mailbox on one machine, it'll automatically see whatever you've done previously on another machine accessing the same mailbox. Concurrent access to the same mailbox by multiple machines is still a bit of a headache.

Hi! My name is Apoorva. I am from India. I am using Nokia 3250 handset. Now as everybody knows, most of the Nokia handset has an email feature which also requires GPRS to be activated. I have already activated GPRS on my cell phone. But now, I am looking out for free email service provider with whom I can register and then configure email settings on my cell phone so that I can send emails from my cell phone while I am on move. This saves my cost of buying a laptop as email is one of the major requirement on the move b'coz of which everybody are buying a laptop.
Steps to send an email from Nokia 3250:
    1. Menu > 2. Mesaging > 3. New Message > 4. Email.
So, kindly reply back to my topic if anybody on this forum has an answer.
    Apoorva.

  • E71: no longer able to send via Nokia Email

I just upgraded to 200.21.118 on my e71-2 RM-357 (in spite of all the talk, only this firmware was available).
I can no longer very easily send an email through Nokia Email. Before, I was able to select an entry through the Contacts app, choose 'Send email', and Nokia Email would have been an option to send an email through. Now I only have the choice of the default Messaging application and the accounts I have set up through that.
Similarly, I was with my version 100 firmware able to launch the email client if I configured one of the hotkeys to 'send a message.' Now, the only emails that can be sent are through the default client.
    Thanks in advance...
    Sriram

    Hi there!
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Dial *228 and select Option 1. Dial it again and select Option 2.
    2) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    3) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    4) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS conduits for the affected email accounts.

  • Nokia customer service support - Warranty claim fo...

Just finished being online with one of the support staff at Nokia USA's phone number, with a thick mumbling accent, and obviously having a hard time understanding english.
Anyway lens shutter is falling apart, due to build quality issue or design issue, and I've wasted 30 minutes of my life to try to explain to the agent that I need a new back cover/battery cover due to this.
He want's the whole damn phone sent in, and to keep it for 2-3 weeks plus shipping time, and has just spent the last 25 minutes of our lives telling me how to navigate the NokiaUSA website, with incorrect script trying to find his RMA submission request form.
Sometimes its just cheaper to say ok. Nokia could've finished the issue in 5 minutes by taking down my imei, and then saying "we'll send you a replacement cover".
Lord. Is that what we spend $500 on? Nokia warranty service and support is not worth a nickle.

Thanks, I'm just trying to get an application I bought from the Ovi store (peggle). After a long email exchange with Ovi support, they sent me the application for the Nokia 6300 while I have a 5800 XM. Their telephonic support is quite bad technically (I was disconnected in 4 out of the 7 calls and connected to the wrong language in the other 2) and again they sent me the 6300 version.
So what I would like to do is to raise this to a higher level where they might actually pay atention to what I've written. I've filled out the customer satisfaction survey. Maybe that will help.
