Nokia Express music 5800 screen problems

Every time i receive a called the screen gets wild and i cant see who is calling me, also happen when the alarm sounds gets crazy and i cant shut off. This start happend when i made an actuallization of the software.
Please i need help, can somebody help me?

did you update the firmware ?
try resetting the device by typing in *#7370# security code is 12345
back up your data such as videos photos apps contacts etc

Nokia Xpress Music 5800 screen problem!!!

Hello,
i am having major problems with the screen of my Nokia! Everything was fine until recently when the image on screen started constantly getting distorted (i.e. i can't see anything but blocks of colour!) I then have to either turn my phone off or keep locking and unlocking the phone until the image returns to normal. Oddly enough, i was playing with my phone at the bustop yesterday when someone noticed what was happening and said that he had the same problem with that phone and that the way to fix it was to delete any screensavers i had but the thing is, i don't have a screen saver! The only thing i can think of is that i did download some themes recently but they worked without a problem for about a month so i don't see why they would cause problems now! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try Display Calibration..
Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Touch Input-->Touch Screen Calibration..
..else, the problem may be because of the Screen Protector film (if fixed..)..or with a particular Theme..Change the theme and check..

Nokia 5800 express music monitor "screen" problem

hi all,
i've a nokia 5800 device and i've faced a very serious problem:
when i lock the phone and unlock it the monitor or screen dont appear as previous normally, instead of that shaked colored lines appear, so i can't see who is calling. But the touch is working normally so i can play music or answer calls but without knowing who is calling.
if i switch the phone off then switch it on i see the the screen normally, and when it locked then unlocked the same problem appears again.
i've tried to solve the problem by formatting the device but it is no use
the same problem faced my frien
i don't know what to do, please give me a hand......

I've been having a very similar problem with my nokia 5800 expressmusic.
it started off like yours but then the screen went fully black.
the green, white and red buttons at the bottom work so does the small touch button at the top right.. those lights always come on when i unlock the phone so they're fine.
I know that my phone is still working because i was randomly touching the screen when the phone was unlocked (even though i cannot see anything on it) and i ended up calling somebody. my only problem is that i cannot see the screen at all!!
i've tired turning my phone off, taking out sim and memory cards, putting different sims in and charging it.
nothing works!!
is there anything i can do?
can anybody help me with this?
or is my phone just past its 'use by' date?

Nokia express music 5800 contact number problem

I can't get my phone numbers from my phone. when i try to open the phonebook it says no contact is there. though there is contacts saved in phonebook. Even if any person call me it displays there name in Dialed,missed,recieved number list. IIf i try to open the phonebook from OVI suite 3.6.36 it does not show any contact and pop up a error message with code 80700506. If i do backup it shows 0 contact got backed up after completetion, though other data get backed up properly.
Please help me to fix this. It is so urgent, i can n not even get some important contact numbers i need.

@kennyabs From your question what i can understand is you dont want to use nokia messaging but want to use the inbuilt email client to check your gmail messages, what i am going to suggest you is not a foolproof method but it worked for me if u have installed NM uninstall it, open inbuilt client it tries to prepare installation hit 'cancel' immediately now you should get a screen to enter a email address and next screen to enter password, after it retrieves the settings automatically.

please help i had my gmail working perfect tune played when got a email but now only orange email so i have to go to google web site i dont want nokia email just gmail please help

Express music 5800 dataconnection problem

My phone has latest software but recently i started to wonder why the battery wears out so quickly and discovered that the phone has dataconnection opened automatically. It doesn't load anything, 6 hours connection and only few bytes has moved but battery is empty. What is the reason for that?

Yep it is released in EU already but I was wondering when it will be available in USA?
I got 5800 while in Fin and about6 months later it was released in USA, it was half price what I paid (thanks to currency rates and insane taxation in Fin)
Also I got my lesson with warranty as thanks to common speaker issue, I had to airmail it back to Fin for service and at the end, it had been cheaper to wait few months and buy new from here when it was released, that is reason I rather buy it from region I live as Nokia international warranty big lie and it is not international, it is regional and they don't give a **bleep** if your phone breaks while you are in other country. I tried to het help and all I got is "too bad"...
So any details from US release?

What do you mean by you're not able to find a suitable memory card?
If your phone didn't come loaded with a memory card installed, buy one. AFAIK, 5310 supports microSD cards (not sure if it has support for microSDHC). A 2GB microSD card would work fine.
Or, do you mean to say that you cannot access the card?

What does this icon means ?

Padlock icon created to confirm that your connection is encrypted, but carriers can choose to display it or not using a setting on the SIM card amongst others; if you are not used to seeing it, that indicates a change between your phone and the local cell tower and perhaps you may want to contact your network provider for support.
Have you altered any access point settings or changed SIM recently?

Tranfering pictures and Music file via Bluetooth from Nokia Express Music

Hi, I'm having issues with the bluetooth connectivity. My Flat mate has a nokia 5800 express music. We have tried to connect via bluetooth my phone has located his 5800 and seems to connect but i have no idea how to send pictures to him or to recieve anything from his phone....On the bluetooth screen there are no options that appear!?
I presume the music files might not be interchangabe due to different formats?? Surely we can swap pictures thought???

Express Music 5800 Fin - EM 5800 US - wait X6 US

I'm native Fin living in US...
Last visit in Fin just few days after 5800 Express Music was released there, I bought 5800 and flew back to States, soon learned that 3G network frequencies doesn't match so normal gsm and edge works but not 3G.
My bad so no flaming here....
To make 3G work, options I have is either to buy 5800 or X6 US model, that makes me wonder when is X6 released in US?

Nokia 6500s-1 Slide Screen Problem

Hi All,
I bought a new Nokia 6500s-1 (Slide ) , at the first use i noticed that the screen starts to blink when i review the menu icons, then when i use the options menu ,when i use the special characters in the massge, when i take a picture and i want to review it a white row in the middle of the screen blinks , but while im playing games no blink happened if the phone was not touched nothing happened too,
is this a software problem or a screen problem ? i feels dissapionted from this mobile model even so its not a cheap one.
please any suggestions ? i'm waiting a replay

I have got a Nokia N95 and it has been working fine until this morning i turned the mobile on and then everytime i pressed the down button on the mobile froze and the screen kept getting lighter and lighter till it was white then it would bring up the screen from befor but it had gone down the icon or on to my contacts (down key on stand by screen) the screen has also started to move across from where it was and where the screen had moved the pixels from the right had side of the screen to the left had side.
I have tried all the soft and hard resets and also updating the software up to the v31.0.017 and there is no warrenty left on the device
what can I do to sort out the problem with my phone?

Nokia 5800 Screen Problems After Firmware Update V...

Hi all,
I have the Nokia 5800 navigation edition. I just updated the firmwareon it from V40. to the latest available 51.2.007. Doing so has turned the phone's screen into a huge mess - the lower half of the screen is all white and the upper half has some weired flickering and the icons(the ones that are visible) are all messed up too and some of them are not responding at all.
Heres what I've done to resolve the problem:
- remove the battery, memory and sim cards for a few hours.
- reboot the phone without the memory card(eliminating any corrupt setup files).
- reinstalled the V51.2.007 update several times using bothe the Ovi Suite and the older Nokia PC Suite updater.
- tried running the updates on all XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Can you please advise me of any other possible solutions I can try. Is there any way to revert back to the older firmware. The phone was working just fine before the update.

There is another way to hard reset your phone and it is as follows.
With your phone powered off, press and hold Green + Red + Camera Keys. Then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you see the Nokia Shaking Hands Logo.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
This reset will revert the phone to its out of the box state, so it will revert back to the original version of Maps that came with the phone. However, this should be an issue as you can easily redownload and reinstall the latest again.

Nokia 5800 screen problems when unlocking

When I unlock my phone, I get horizontal and/or vertical lines - I can't use the phone during this time, because the display is so badly affected!
After about 5-10 seconds, the home screen will show perfectly normal. When I either lock the phone, or lock it manually, then unlock it a few minutes later the lines come back again!
Is this a hardware or software fault? If it is a software fault, how can I resolve this annoying problem?

I have exactly the same fault on my 5800 to the point where the phone is completely unusable.
Used the "Contact Us" facility 5 days ago - still waiting for a reply/acknowledgment.
I bought the phone in mid February so it was quite an early release model, V11 frimware, but the screen fault was there early on but only very occassionally. Had the phone updated to V20 but the problem was still there. However it got progressively worse until the phone became unusable. The screen can only be restored by powering off and on again but once the screen has gone into saver mode it cannot be restored via the unlock button, or any other means other than a power down.
Sent the phone to the Nokia "Anovo" repair centre only to have it returned 10days later with exactly the same fault as I sent it in with. The return advice note stated that details of the repair would be found on the enclosed letter - there was no enclosed letter. The return form states that all phones sent in would be automatically updated to the latest firmware - mine wasn't, even though Nokia notified me 2 weeks previously to inform me that there was an update for my phone.
Rang Nokia Care last week, (Thursday) to be told that someone would contact me by phone, (borrowed phone obviously, as I had stated my 5800 was unusable). Friday and I had not been contacted. Rang again Friday morning 10.30am only to be told someone would contact me. Left a contact phone number again. Friday afternoon - still no contact so rang again. This time I was informed that someone should have told me that I wouldn't be contacted until Monday as thet were all "Very Busy" - I wonder why. Today, Monday afternoon stil no one has been in contact so I suppose I am going to have to go through the whole routine again.
I am very close to the point where I am going to give up and demand a refund for an item that is clearly "Not of Merchantable Quality" or "Fit for Purpose" which would be a shame as when it worked I was really pleased with it. I bought the phone outright so I have no contract redress so am completely in the hands of Nokia. I know that Nokia is a very large company and I am but a single customer but from all the forums I have lookes at since this saga started I am driven to believe that the 5800 is causing Nokia some serious problems.
If I do finally get some acknowledge from Nokia I will inform this forum.

5800 Screen Problem - Nokia Response

Have detailed the problems I am having elsewhere. Have also seen many other threads started about the same problem and the WWW provides much other evidence that there is an issue with the screen malfunctioning on 5800.
I have yet to see a response from Nokia or even any comment or advice from Nokia on these forums.
Sure there is plenty of advice telling me to take it to a Nokia Care Centre which I will have to do.
Has anyone that has taken a phone to a care centre had any success ? Has it been fixed, or replaced and what reason was given ?
But what about the underlying problem. With so many phones going wrong there is clearly a serious problem with quite a lot of handsets.
Can anyone from Nokia comment on this problem on this thread. It must be a known problem.

Well I agree with you about the issue with the cold there but you make it sound as though it is normal for this to happen. I have never had this happen to any other Nokia LCD device before or any other similar device that I have owned. There is definitely some strange issue, as when the screen goes fuzzy, if you lock the phone and then place it on or near a heat source for a few moments, when you unlock it the screen is mysteriously working again. This is a very frustrating issue which is exacerbated by the fact that the device is of the touchscreen variety which effectively renders it useless as if you can't see the screen then you can't see the buttons to control the infernal machine! Unless that is you are able to memorise the menus positions and also that of their sub-menus and options!!! I don't think so!!
Anyway, one thing I will say is that the service from Nokia is absolutely amzing when it comes to repairing them. I used the online form at http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/repair/repair/warranty?c=1 and they sent a UPS guy who arrived to collect the device the ver next day!!! That was last Monday, the 29th March, and I received back a brand new Nokia 5800 today!!! Obviously rather than repair the device they have just replaced it with the revised model that they are obviously producing now that they have realised and rectified their errors. I am very impressed with getting a new device and so quickly too! Only thing is, they don't send you a new back for the phone, as they tell you to keep yours at home and not send it to them, so if your back is worn it will look out of place with the brand new phone if thats the route that they take with your case, which I think they will, or rather should. That is because I have heard that people that were getting their original device repaired and returned to them the problem was recurring soon after it being returned to the user.
Props to Nokia though on replacing my 5800! I must say that at first when I sent it I thought I was going to be waiting for ages, but as I said I only waited a week and they even have a widget on their repair part of the site that tells you the status of your repair and where they are with it, all you have to do it type in your case number.
