Nokia Instant Messaging

i have downloaded and installed Nokia Instant Messaging from messaging.nokia.com but its only sign in to ovi account not gmail or yahoo. it telling me i need sum kinda subscribtion press reject. how to get it work.
btw im using nokia c5.

Same problem although on another thread, someone said gtalk is working for them on C5 in india.
I'm using C5 on bsnl. what's your carrier jeet ?

Nokia 6300 - Instant Messaging icon/functionality ...

Hi everybody,
I'm from Canada, and just bought a Nokia 6300 brand new a few days ago. This morning, I went on my phone to change the wallpaper, and for a second, the phone blinked and changed back to the default provider theme. I then changed back the wallpaper, but when I go into the menu, my instant messaging icon is not there anymore. Obviously, restarting the phone didn't solve the problem.
I don't know if anybody got this problem before. I've seen other functionalities missing like Calculator and Email and such, so maybe it's a software fault. Anyone can advise how to fix this problem? Is this a good phone or I just see the problems with it?
My firmware version is 4.71 28/02/2007.

It seems like your phones software has gone a bit corrupted. Please update it with the Nokia Software Updater. This should solve your problem, if not then you need to take the phone to a Nokia Service Center.

How to enable instant messaging in Nokia E72?

As per Nokia E72 user guide, the phone does support IM(Instant Messaging). However I am not able to locate it? Could someone help me with IM set up?

Since IM is firmware it must be somewhere. Did you check all other folders for IM? Reset the phone or update with Nokia Software Updater. There are alternatives like Fring. Download with OVI store. You can find IM there too.

Dear sirs, I have a nokia 6700 classic and I cannot use the instant messaging system: I enter the “chat” application and I can select only the "Ovi" service.
How can I add other services (GoogleTalk, Messenger, Yahoo talk)???

gprs on a mobile phone can be used in either wap browser or opera mini browser.
A) wap browser have no particular look i.e when u press "0" for 2 seconds, then a wap browser with a default home page of your operators page will open.
B) opera mini is the nest one which you are already familiar with it. nokia recently decided to give opera as a pre-installed browser for the upcoming devices. but even though we have a chance to install newer versions of opera from the m.opera.com website as per the handset .

   comparing to gmail, yahoo have more security issues. unlike it undergo all security related issues passed then only yahoo works fine. so, because of this reason, your are unable to get through it. but you can set gmail,ovi under the messaging menu .
nextly, nokia 5130 will need to have some settings form the nokia to get IM chat running.( here operator settings is not sufficint).
   but when i surfed the nokia.mobi.com from the mobile ; it says that "your phone not supports IM chat, check later. new phones will be added frequently" .
   anyhow , in the future ..more options wil be available to this mobile... in my view 5130 is more for s40 and less for s60.

6350 instant messages not obeying profile setting

When i use yahoo instant messenger on my nokia 6350 it will not follow the set profile for silent alerts. If my phone is set to vibrate or silent, the new instant message tone still plays. I've tried changing the instant message settings to sound and vibrate to vibrate only or no sound. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas for a solution?

I'm getting this too. Switching to a different folder and back gets rid of the blue dot. This only happens with my exchange account. All other accounts work normally.

No instant messaging app on my N8

Hi there, I bought my N8 two days ago and I realized there is no instant messaging app or widget!
I read in specs that N8 is having integrated instant messaging and I also watched official Nokia videos on YouTube showing the behavior of the app and of the widget.
So the question is : how come I am not having the instant messaging app and widget on my Nokia N8?

yer, i can confirm its missing from mine. the vid shows the app in the root folder but its not there!! all i can imagine is that it'll be in the next firmware update (hopefully with Swype). the networks get the handset on the 22nd and i bet an update will be out before it ships to them?

Instant Messenger - Instant Messaging IM Client in...

Somebody tell me how to find IM client in N97. I had this IM client hidden in my previous Firmware. I used to find from HELP menu. After updating this new firmware, almost everything worked fine but IM client is missing even from Hidden. I want to use Yahoo Messenger. Kindly avoid giving me advice on getting some third party messaging clients. I have lots. Not satisfied with those. Kindly give me some ideas to make one or find one which is from NOKIA or YAHOO. This is absolutely ridiculous to ignore the importance of IM. NOKIA has come up with a cheap firmware, it works like something created in late 2007. And its hardware, they could have come up with 256MB RAM and 600 MHz Processor. I feel ashamed to get the first N97 in my city. No Multi touch. I wonder what nokia's R&D is doing. We have paid to its R&D with our previous NOKIA mobile phones to get this output?

Can anyone help me set up Instant Messaging on N95...

Hello everyone,
It might sound elementary to some of you but I cannot for the life of me get the Instant messaging to work on my N95 - I don't know at all how to get it in sync with my MSN Messenger account.
Is there anyone that could help? I'm afraid I don't know anything about proxy settings, servers, etc - so I need either a step by step guide or something idiot proof.
I have an unlocked, unbranded N95 with a T-Mobile SIM (Web 'n' Walk Plus enabled, which allows IM)

To sign into MSN you need to supply the client with login gateway of "gateway.messenger.hotmail.com".
Or you can go and get AgileMessenger from www.agilemobile.com...much nicer application. Costs but its worth it.

E71X instant messaging access??? help!

Was wondering if anyone can help!!
I got given the new E71x at&t phone whilst in the states and now i am back in the UK I want to use the instant messaging feature but it keeps saying i need to contact my service provider. So, contacted O2 who said apparantly i need to download some blackberry type software which will give me a pin which i then give to then for them to activate that service on my contract.
I have searched far and wide on both the nokia and at&t website for such said software and cannot find it.. Everything else on the phone works fine it is just this little thing which isnt! I have downloaded the Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia Software Updater application onto my PC but when i connect the phone with a USB to the Nokia Software Updater it doesnt recognise it....is this because it is a relatively new phone....
Can anyone please please please please help!!!!

If you are looking for an IM Client, try fring (http://www.fring.com/). This is so much better than the one ATT packaged. Also it is free and can be used as a VOIP phone too.. give it a try by going to m.fring.com from your phone.

Instant Messaging HIDDEN in the Help folder on N86...

I have just found the IM (instant messaging) application in the Help folder on the N86. The odd thing is that it is not an "application" per se. In the help folder, one searches for "instant"; then a collection of Instant Message help topics appear. By clicking any one, following by clicking the "IM" icon, the application is launched. One can create an identity, select a server, user name, etc. Hence, one can use the phone for instant messaging. But there is no application from which to launch this in the 'Application' folder. Nor is there any documentation in the extended users' manual that is located at Nokia website or the manual bundled with the phone: at least I cannot find any documentation. Has anyone discovered this? If so, am I missing something?

MIDP Instant Messaging

Hi, I am curently in my final year of my Computer Science degree and have decided to develop a J2me instant messaging program for my final year project.
My problem is that i am unsure of how to implement the message exchange between phones, as to recieve asynchronously the connection must be held open, is this possible with http posts and gets?
And are servlets the best solution for the server tier?
My ideal solution would be MIDP 1.0 compatible as i would like to deploy it onto a mobile for demonstration.
Any Ideas of how to go about this?

I've done this. Hmm, ok to be honest it's on early stage now, but working. I haven't yet released it for the public but the time will come.. soon but not yet :)
If you want to assure most compantibility with phones, you don't want to use socket connections. Socket connections do not require midp2 but are rare on midp1 phones. I did this by using basic httpConnection. You want to think through if you would really be willing to chat on realtime with your phone's crappy keypad ;) In my case I thought to have just a cheap alternative to sms. You can use a thread to invoke polling every once in a while to check if there are any new messages waiting on the server. Polling period is up to you, but if you want realtime chatting it has to be less than 10 seconds which also makes it a bit more complex so you won't mess the stuff with the threading. On Nokia S60 there is an awful ArrayIndexOutOfBounds bug waiting for you with the commands :D
