Nokia Life Blog Nokia Photos and Nseries PC Suite...

Hi
I'm a power user and own N95.
I try to install almost all available applications on PC related to my mobile.
So I installed PC Suite 7 and using the same successfully.
But now I installed Nokia Photos (latest name of Nokia Life Blog, as they say). The same installed correctly, but when I run it, it gives the error on the splash screen itself (something like "Nokia Photos has encountered a problem and needs to close").
I've tried uninstalling, then rebooting, and then reinstalling/repairing etc.
2. When I try to install NSeries PC Suite (after exiting-- not uninstalling-- normal PC Suite V7), I get some error in the end of installation: "NNPCSUI has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Any clue?
Wish#1: MP3 Tag Editor capable of editing ratings.
Wish#2: Android type Video player, highly efficient player capable of playing all formats.
Wish#3: Without Google Maps (and products), no gadget is worth keeping.

Hi zopfan,
Could you please confirm your PC details??? What all you have uninstalled already from your PC? You have informed that you have uninstalled Nokia NSeries PC Suite? So you can decide which applications you are going to use? If you want to send SMS and contact editor please do stick with Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 or you can install Nokia NSeries PC suite on your PC or you can also install Nokia OVI Suite too. As far as i know, you can have both the PC suites on your PC without any issues. To resolve your issue, you can uninstall Nokia PC Suite, PC Connectivity solution, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, Run some reliable PC Suite cleaner, which will clean unwanted registried from your PC. Then you install any of the three PC Suite
Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 or
Nokia NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262.0 or
Nokia OVI Suite 1.0 depending on your need.
Then try to install Nokia Photos on your PC reboot the system and then try :0 You can follow in the same discussion forum for your nokia photos and lifeblog issues, as some of the issues were discussed already in this forum, or google and check for the posts related to Nokia photos and nokia lifeblog

I have some pictures on my phone that I copied to my PC using Nokia Life Blog.
I accidentally deleted them from my PC in Nokia Life Blog but they are still on my phone.
But when I sync, they don't copy across. Can anyone tell me how I can get them to copy across again???
    Thanks

Can't you just copy them across using PC Suite or a bluetooth OBEX session?

  • Life of iPod photo and where to sell?

I want to sell my iPod photo while it's still alive. I have had it since December 2005, making it 1 year and 2 months old. I would like to know how long, typically, iPod photos last, and also where would be a good place to sell one?
Gateway;   Windows XP   iBook G4; Mac OS X Panther

Normally, iPod would last couple of years, my 3G iPod (purchased in 2003?) still running fine without any problem, however, it is probably the time to have battery replacement.
If you would like to sell your iPod, you can try eBay.

    Hi,
I have the latest firmware on my nokia e75. But anyway it is not a problem of the phone, but a problem of nokia photos.
For example if from nokia communicatore center i drag and drop the long sms message on my desktop and i open it, the sms is shown correctly with its length.
Then if from desktop i drag and drop the message to nokia photos, the message is imported in nokia photos, but again the text of the message is cut.
If you want to try I can attach the VMG file so you can check at your end.
    B. regards

Also Nokia 5800 XpressMusic provides wonderful devices for users to enjoy music. Taking advantage of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the ‘Media Bar’, a handy drop down menu that provides direct access to music and entertainment, including favourite tracks, videos and photos. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks, a 3.5mm jack, support for main digital video formats 3GP,H.264/AVC,MPEG4, RM.and audio formats MP3, AAC, WMA, WMV. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry’s most powerful sound. So it is really wonderful experience of enjoy music and movies with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
How to update the firmware of Nokia 5800 to v21
It is good news that firmware update for Nokia 5800 was released already. New firmware v.21 is available. If you also own a 5800, just follow the simple instruction to update your v20 or v10 to the newest v21.
Make sure that your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)
    1. Go to Dial screen and press *#0000#
    2. Press Options -> Check for updates
    3. Connect to the Internet with any APN (WiFi is recommended, however EDGE is fast enough for this). 4. Wait until the download finished. Phone will launch the dialog asking for update, just press Now. 5. Press Accept and Accept and the phone will be switched to Updating mode.
    6. It takes around 10 minutes to update, so be patient. After that, the phone will be rebooted automatically.
    7. Check by *#0000# again. Congrats! Your 5800 is now v21!
As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update for example, better camera functionality and the phone operates faster than previous version.
Best Settings for Video Playback on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
Nokia 5800 as the multimedia phones makes you able to enjoy watching the video and music with it. The question is, how’s to do to convert that videos and what are the best setting used for. I have convert many videos into my phone, I found that most video files can play with this phone such as mp4, 3gp, rmvb and flv files. But of them plays well but some are not. After many tries, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very well. Here are my settings:
    Video Resolution: 480*320
    Video Bitrate: 768 kbps
    Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Video Format: MPEG-4 (be sure not to use H264, as it’s not supported in the current firmware)
    Audio Format: MP3
    Audio Channels: 2 Channels
You can apply these settings above in whatever application you used when converting videos into 5800. Then I am sure you will get full screen, high quality and flawless video in your phone.
Settings for video playback on Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.
Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N96: video playback formats are 3GP, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9; the video resolution is 240*320. Audio formats are AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N95: video playback formats are MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640*480, audio format is AAC stereo.
Nokia N85: video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV. The resolution is 240*320. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.
OK, I will not list all settings of Nokia phones. If you are interested you may get more relative information on Nokia official website.
How to transfer video files into Nokia 5800
I have download some videos from video website such as Youtube, Google video. But I can’t watch these videos in my phone. As these videos were flv files, Nokia 5800 can’t play such videos. I use Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert it, but it shows “Unsupported Video File Type”. Then I got to know some best video converter  that seems professional for Nokia phone, I free download its trial version and tried it, and it works very well. Below are what I do:
Click Add button to add video files from your computer, set your videos according to the above settings and select Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 format for your video. Then just click convert button to start the conversion. After the conversion complete, you may watch these videos with Nokia 5800.
Also you may get music from video in this way. But pay attention to the format. As Nokia 5800 support mp3 audio format, you should select “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)”.
How to convert DVD files into Nokia 5800
Obviously phones don’t have DVD drives, so to watch DVD on a phone you have to convert it into a video file on your PC then drag it into your phone. I also follow the above settings and convert DVD files into MPEG-4 video with Daniusoft DVD Ripper. the results are excellent.
After insert your DVD into the DVD Drive click the Open DVD button to upload DVD files on to this program. Click Settings button to set your videos according to the above settings I listed. Click Profile drop list to select “Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” format for your Nokia video. Then click Convert button to start the conversion. In few minutes the whole process will completed.
If you select audio format “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)” you may also get music from DVD.
To transfer files into Nokia 5800
In the above tutorial I have explain you how to convert Nokia videos from DVD and other video files. Then you need to transfer these videos into your phone.
    1. Make sure your computer and phone are both switched on. Also make sure your 5800 have a memory card in its slot.
    2. Plug the small end of the microUSB cable into the phone’s USB socket, which s under a plastic flap in the top left corner.
    3. Plug the larger end of the microUSB cable into a USB port on your computer.
    4. On your 5800 it should ask which mode you wish to use. Choose “Mass Storage”.
    5. Open the memory card window (probably called “Removable Disk E:”), drag your video files into the video folder.
    6. After finished transfer files, do not disconnect the cable yet. You should make it safe to disconnect the cable. You may do this by click a small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that appears when the phone is connected.
    7. After you have made the device safe to remove, you can unplug the cable at both ends.
Some useful tips to make the Nokia 5800's battery last as long as possible
Sometimes you may have to stop talking with your friend or watching videos with your phone as low power of your battery. It is more inconvenient if you are in travel and have no alternative battery. Here are some tips to make your phone battery last as long as possible when using telephone.
Do not switch the phone off. As switching a phone on uses far more battery power than simply leaving the phone on.
    Shut down unnecessary applications.
Turn down the 5800’s screen brightness to the lowest acceptable level.
Switch off your 5800’s screen when not in use.
Use headphones instead of speakers when listening to music or watching movies.
Avoid using the camera flash unnecessarily.
    Use 2G instead of 3G.
    Switch off Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.'
Ok, I have typed out all my thoughts about Nokia 5800 here. Hope my tutorial is helpful to you. And all the other Nokia 5800 tutorials and useful how-to information should come here! It is welcome

  • Viewing Nokia location-tagged (geotag) photos on m...

I have a Nokia E72 which has GPS.
I installed the Nokia Location Tagger (beta) application so that taking pictures with the E72's camera will alow geo-tagging the photos (must have GPS-lock status first).
So far, I've taken a few dozen pictures on my E72 which have been geo-tagged.
I'd like to view those geo-tagged pictures on the world map.
I installed Nokia Photos (Windows software) application on my desktop PC -- the Nokia Photos doesn't seem to recognize the Nokia E72 device in the application. (Supposedly Nokia Photos has a built-in support/feature to import photos from selected Nokia cellphones when they're connected to the PC)
Anyway, I manually copied the photos from my E72 to a folder on the PC (instead of supposedly Nokia Photos should be able to do that), and then I pointed Nokia Photos to that folder where I copied the photos.
Nokia Photos was able to identify the pictures where were geo-tagged. And I could view the photos with corresponding map locations.  Ok, so this is good. However, I notice the Nokia maps being used is not so detailed (the maps used are probably the Nokia Maps 2.0 instead of the Nokia Maps 3.0).
I think with Nokia Maps 2.0, only major roads in our country the Philippines are shown, although with Ovi Maps 3.0, most streets in urban areas are quite complete and accurate. (in this case, the Nokia Photos only shows major roads, most likely from Nokia Maps 2.0).
Therefore, I decided to try using several other photo applications to see if they could read the geo-tags and locate them on the map (eg. Google Earth/Maps or MS Virtual Earth / Bing Maps etc.)
I download several geo-tagging-aware free photo software -- JetPhoto Studio, Microsoft Pro Photo Tools, Picasa and a couple of others.
Seems like all these other apps weren't able to read the geo-tagging information from the photos which had the geo-tags (tagged by Nokia Location Tagger).
Picasa was able to find only 1 of my (dozens) geo-tagged photos and showed its location correctly on Google Maps.  (JetPhoto Studio and MS Pro Photo Tools didn't find any geo-tag in my few dozen geo-tagged photos at all).  And quite strange that Picasa only noted 1 of my picture with geo-tag (Nokia Photos showed all the geo-tagged photos -- which numbered several dozens of photos).
Just wondering, is the (Nokia) geo-tagging metadata info in the JPG pictures non-standard or just that the other supposedly geo-tagging-aware photo softwares have problems reading these Nokia Location Tagger geo-tagged photos correctly?  Anyone tried any of the above programs (the above-mentioned softwares are all Windows freeware).

    d_t_a wrote:
Also, if there are lots of photos, it may take a long while to have to upload all those geo-tagged photos to Ovi, isn't it?
That depends on the upload speed of your Internet connection

  • Why nokia is not implementing VOIP in Nseries..?

    hi,
i think nseries is a very good option for all mob lovers and users.
but stil nokia is doing the old and tricky marketing.
they anounced only a few phones with camera wit above 3 mp.
and they did nt release any Nseries wit VOIP.
    Whats your opinion....?
nokia should implement business features into atleast some of the Nseries phns.
    like N73, N80 and N95...

AFAIK, Nokia is supporting Gizmo Project. The latest version of S60 devices is available at Nokia Beta Labs (http://www.nokia.com/A4403822).

  • Nokia 1520 not saving photos

Is anyone else having issues with thier 1520 randomly not saving pictures when using Nokia Camera for default photo app.  For some reason my camera is now frequently not saving the photos.  A camera reset works, but then in a few hours it stops saving again for no apparent reason.  Kind of sick of having to always do camera resets and then lossing my photos.

No such issues here. Happily clicking away and saving everything. You could if you want, try a reset and failing that, perhaps there may be an issue with the memory which would probably require a trip to your local Nokia Care Point. Alternatively, you may also consider bringing it back to thge retailer for a replacement.

  • Deletion of youtube app,nokia life app,news&offers...

    please help me!
I use nokia asha 205 (with the updated software V:4.51).
I marked several downloaded applications in the applications folder, in phone.
When I deleted them, other built-in apps(YOUTUBE,MAIL,NOKIA LIFE,NEWS&OFFERS and the Xpress Browser), were also DELETED.
PLEASE SEND FOR ME LINKS,THROUGH WHICH I CAN RECOVER MY PHONE BECAUSE IT IS VERY LOYAL NOW.

    Hi fredericklabia,
Since these apps are part of the system, you have to reinstall your software to get them back. You can do this on your PC using Nokia Suite. To download Nokia Suite, see this link: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/nokia-suite/. After installing the Nokia Suite on your PC, follow these instructions:
    1. Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.
    2. Launch Nokia Suite and wait until it detects your phone.
    3. On the Nokia Suite, go to Tools > Software updates.
    4. If your phone has an available software update, install it. However, if there's none, you can reinstall the phone's software by clicking "Reinstall it".
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Nokia 5800 - 'Mail for Exchange' and 'Nokia mail'....

Ok may be a silly question but while looking through my 'installed apps' on my 5800, since i was thinking of 'clearing some stuff out' to make that little bit more memory on the phone (Currently I'm ~ 3/4 full)
I noticed that although MOST of them (games etc) are already on my memory card there's a few stuck on the phone.
Many I guess can't be removed (such as 'Symbian OS' stuff, 'OVI Maps' or other 'OVI Store' stuff) but what about programs that seem to be 'duplicates' (i.e. seem to do the same thing) ??
Why should I have 2 'Map' programs or 2 'Email' program etc ??
In particular - why should I need to have 'Mail for Exchange' AND 'Nokia Mail' installed at the same time. Both are ~ 1Mb each and both seem to be related to 'Getting Emails onto the phone'
Can't I just stick to one one them - say 'Nokia Mail' & remove 'Mail for Exchange' ??
Doinf so will only free up 1Mb of phone memory, but it'll help - or does one program rely on the other ??
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I've just noticed there's a couple of other programs 'In Phone memory' that seem suspicious.
One is called 'Chinese Lion (164Kb Supplier: QTEL) and the other is called 'Diamonds' (102kb Supplier: WANGP) - anyone know what these are ??
    Motto: Illegitimis non carborundum

Most users don't need both, but each has a different purpose which is why both are offered. Nokia Messaging is Nokia's in-house push mail service available for all consumers (currently it requires a certain type of operator subscription, but I understand that is about to change so that it is open to all). Mail for Exchange is primarily for business users whose company uses Microsoft Exchange for corporate mail.
Likewise, you don't need to Maps apps - GPS-equipped phones always have Nokia/Ovi Maps preisntalled, unless youe phone is an operator-variant from a network which has its own GPS service or you bought the phone second-hand from somebody else, I don't see why it would have another similar application.
For general memory management, this post which I made in reply to another user with memory issues may help:
