Nokia Lumia 1020 Very Low Earpiece Volume

Hi
My Nokia Lumia 1020 has very low earpiece volume. At even maximum volume one can find it really hard to hear. I have brushed off any dust etc.. but still the problem persists. I have also read other users facing similar problems. What a pity that such a great phone cannot fulfil basic purpose of having a phone. What's the solution as I want to switch back to Samsung note 3.

Nokia lumia 1020 very unrelaible

When I got my lumia1020 from ebay Germany it was woking fine for about a month. Then it started giving me problems. At first it was restarting by itself. This is very serious in case you expectiing a call. I changed my sim card but nothing change. I removed lots of applications but still the problem there. I recently upgraded to 8.1 mob win. and now the problem got worse. It shuts down by itself randomly. Its not a battery problem because it shuts down at different levels of battery, even at 90%. This makes the phone very unreliable. I read elsewhere that this is a common problem for NOKIAS. If I dont find a solution I will get rid off it and I will never buy again NOKIA.

If you guys are having following issues ++++ after WP 8.1 preview +++++
1. Unit suddenly powers down, need reset (vol down + power for 10 secs) to bring the unit back on.
2. unit getting warm.
I have the following suggestions
1. turn of wall paper on tiles screen and use the standard theme colour
2. uninstall and reinstall apps that need background services( facebook, whatsapp, twitter, mix radio, weather apps, battery apps) and so on.
3. I also found that facebook beta is better, it suspends better when you hit the back button.
4. Turn off wifi sense
Of course you can enable all these after the official firmware update from Nokia is released.

Nokia 603 - Very low call volume

Hello All,
My nokia 603 has very low call volume than ordinary level.
It seems to be known issue with 603. But i am unable to get any solution for the same.
Is there any patch update to be done for the same?
My phone runs with latest FP2.

Nokia Lumia 1020 and Snow Leopard

Dear People, i want to buy a new smartphone, Nokia Lumia 1020, because it has a great video camera for filming in low light, but I am afraid I will have problems importing the video files into iMovie. I use 10.6.8. . Does anybody have experience with this combination?

One thing that people have very often omitted to do after updating to Amber/GDR2 is to update all of the system apps that go with it.
To that end, Search for and install "Lumia System Updater". Once it's installed it will enable you to update all the system apps that go with Amber. Also, if it isn't yet installed then install "Access point" (visible from Lumia System Updater).

Micro SD Card for Nokia Lumia 1020

I work in a photo printing lab and over the years technology has changed in many different ways. Customers have moved from the old film cameras to digital cameras. But now they are moving from digital cameras to phone cameras. This move is because of the improved image quality.
I was very excited to hear of Nokias new release the Lumia1020. The image quality of the 1020 has far surpassed anything else on the market. This was the phone that I've been waiting for.
But as I work in a photo lab and deal with many customers with many different types of camera phones. I see the difficulties most of them have with printing a few pictures. Bluetooth is very slow. Using a cable works only 5% of the time. infrared doesn't work anymore on most of the new machines.
But 50% of the phones use SD CARDS. Its simple, fast and the most efficient way of printing your images.
The phone that I've been waiting for, the Nokia Lumia1020, does Not use SD CARD. I hope I've received the wrong information about this phone. For me it is essential to actually print the photographs that i take. And without the use of an SD CARD i would find it difficult to do this.
If the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications are correct. Then I'll have to wait a little bit longer to upgrade my phone. If anything happens to my Nokia N8. I'll have some serious decisions to make.
Can anyone prove me wrong on the Nokia lumia 1020 specifications?

I still would say that a more expensive line should be worth the cost since as customers we are paying a premium for it. So although it is "all cost" customers deserve more since we are paying more.

If Nokia would put their minds to it Im confident that their clever engineers would be able to provide a hot swapable solution somewhere externally at the same time make it look good and not interfere with usage ie needing to take battery out. If you were to take many hidef pix, movies etc, how long would it take to upload to skydrive as compared to transfering an sd card onto your pc? Or even putting in a blank memory card a making immediately available huge numbers of GB?

I have to go the other direction. Adding memory card support only adds more fuctionality to the phone. Adds more room to install apps, add more room to store music, vids that you can keep with you. Adds the ability to add virtually unlimited storage to your phone. And dont forget the cost of data from your network provider when your away from your wifi.
Scenario I like to have my phone stocked with the apps I like. Now this uses some space. I have pics and vids of nice memeories I like to keep with me on the phone and I like to keep a lot with me thus reducing the fixed storage of the phone. If Im outside taking pictures/vids, the more I take the less my avaliable storage becomes. Isnt it a very practicle thing to do that I whip out a memory card and viola 64GB of storage without needing to shut off the phone.
Now isnt that a big plus? If more space does not equal a plus then why would MS charge you more for more skydrive space? Its because its a premium. You might say "how on earth are you gona use all that space on the phone and on skydrive?" Years ago people also thought 200GB was massive for a HDD. You will find a way to use it. And if you cant use that space others will.

Nokia Lumia 1020 Keeps Freezing

I have the Nokia Lumia 1020 and have been using it as my primary phone since its launch in the states. I love the phone and, up until now, I haven't had any issues. However, I'm currently on a trip overseas and I've had nothing but trouble with the phone. It continually freeze, requiring me to issue a soft reboot (volume down + power buton hold). Even after issuing the reboot, the phone doesn't always act in the desired behavior. I find myself issuing the reboot several times in a row. Moreover, the phone starts to get really, really hot and acts strange (changes my time, etc..). Here is examle of what I go through, step by step:
I'm navigating my phone, normally. Looking at pictues, browsing the web, pretty basic stuff
The phone will freeze on whatever screen I'm on. I have seen it screen while I'm in the Nokia Panorma app, 6tag, and in a handful of basic apps/built in functions
No keys or buttons are responsive
I issue a soft reboot by pressing the down volume and power button at the same time for 10+ secs
Very rarely does the phone reboot and act in a normal fashion. It will usually freeze right away and I have to issue the reboot again, and again, and again
Eventually, the phone will reboot into a somewhat working session.
My date and time is set to an aribtrary one, even though I have my phone set to automatically obtain the time (I'm currently +12 ahead from my EDT origin). It actually sets my date back to March (it is currently October) and an earlier time
Any text messages I receive come in and are not sorted to the bottom of the current conversation (I have to hunt them down from previous conversations within the same thread) - I think this is due to the date/time issue
I have had situations where my last photos taken got deleted (i.e., probably never saved correctly before the freeze)
The phone will get really, really hot

I live on the east coast of the US (GMT -4)
I'm curently in Singapore (GMT +8)
I have the phone set to roam internationally
The phone is roaming on a 4G signal
I have the date/time set to a 24 hour clock and to get time automatically
I have wi-fi enabled, but I am usually not on a network when I freeze (I have been though)
OS version: 8.0.10327.77
Firmware revision: 3045.000.1325.0001
RM-877 ATT-US varient
Lumia Amber software
I've tied uninstalling any apps I *may* have loaded since the issue began, but I have had no luck. I've also messed with the date and time to set it manually. Again, no luck. I'm about to disable photo and video backups (I currently have them set to "best quality").
My questions:
Anybody else having this issue
Anybody have an idea as to how I can solve for it.

Hi. 'Same' may not be the exactly similar. Please provide us details regarding your case. Does it happen randomly or when accessing certain apps on the phone? What connections are enable on the phone (Bluetooth, tap+send, data connection, WiFi)? How about the background apps running on the phone?

To verify, the issue starts after updating the phone to Black. Correct? Or have you been encountering the issue prior updating the phone? After updating the software to Black, make sure that all system apps are updated as well. You may refer to the above link for the system apps.

Nokia Lumia 1020 Recording Questions

I'm planning on recording a show that I am involved in with a Nokia Lumia 1020 (which I haven't actually got yet), but was wondering whether it's possible to use the 1020 as just a camcorder and live capture/save the video file to a laptop?
I've heard ways of doing it with a camcorder and live capturing it straight into Sony Vegas.
But getting a new phone sounds much better than getting a new camcorder or camera.
Also, one other reason for me thinking of using the 1020 is because the previous cameras we've used to record shows haven't been great at recording in a theatre and seem to get a bit drowned in light, since the theatre itself is dark (especially at the back where the camera will be) and the stage is flooded with bright stage lights, it often makes the dances and dancers look bad.
Do you think the Lumia 1020 would be alright with this situation?

I would be sure that you have nothing on your device memory to ensure that you have enough memory. it is going to record in 1080p unless you choose otherwise. so the file is going to be big.
I do not believe there is a way to record using your 1020 and have it live save to a memory outside of the device memory. at least, I have not heard of or seen anything to say this is possible.
coloring, imo, should be pretty good. so long as there isn't any lights aimed directly at the camera. I have been very happy with its videos that it creates.

Cannot update my nokia lumia 1020 fully...

I have contacted Nokia recently and all they suggest is a factory reset,but firstly the only computer I have is a WINXP computer(which is not supported for backup) and secondly,I don't want to spend hours(If I could backup) reloading stuff back on the phone for an update issue!
Hope you guys can help..Here is my scenerio...Completely NOT my fault
I have two phones on my account,BOTH are the same exact phone models,which are Nokia Lumia 1020's.
When the update FIRST came out for Cyan a while back,I was one of those ones (foolishly now I might add)to jump right on the update and download it when it first became available(within two days)...It went through and installed successfully,phone came on..no problem or so I thought...However,I was missing the "Cortana" feature on the phone! Everything else was there except for "Cortana"...It wasn't listed under the "applications" either.
Now this is where it gets funky. My wife who has the other SAME model phone decided to WAIT to update her phone until 3 days ago. Guess what? It went through with no issues as mine had,but she now HAS Cortana installed on her phone!!!
The only difference in the settings for phone information between my phone and her phone is the "Hardware Revision number" which for me is 3.3.0.2. Hers is 3.3.0.3.
Everything else including the OS version,firmware,etc..etc...is exactly the same on both phones.
I contacted Nokia and the only thing they could tell me was to check my date and time and region on the phone,which was already of course set correctly to US and the proper time zone and date.
If I go in and try and run the "check for updates" now on my phone,it tells me that there are no updates available,and my phone is up to date.
GRRRRR!
Now they recommend a factory reset and a "Tool" on their website which will erase all data on the phone and put a spanking new OS reinstall on my phone,but it will wipe out all my contents. Like I said before,I cannot backup because of my XP system which is not supported. Why should I have to format anyway,since this was SUPPOSED to be a simple OS upgrade which should not force me to do this. If they tested it extensively before they shot it out to the public when they first released it,they would have seen that "Cortana" was missing. Evidently they have fixed that bug,but I am still upset because I basically want Nokia to send me (or to email me)a link to download a executable file to my phone that could reinstall the OS without going through this factory reset crap. They won't do anything like this...This is their muckup,releasing a incomplete update.How was I supposed to know that the update they released for download at that time was incomplete? Since this is clearly their issue,I believe they should help me resolve it by "pushing" a force reinstall on my particular phone without having to go through an unnecessary factory reset,and then the major pain of putting everything back on the phone(and that's if I had the proper computer in the first place!) I know Nokia could do this if they wanted to. All they need is the hardcore details on my phone.
I'm not very happy with Nokia service on this,and thought they would help me to a greater extent than this. I guess my only other option is to "WAIT" for them to put out another update for the phone,and then try and install that. But who knows when that is going to be? I can't enjoy a nice feature on the phone for all this time,but my wife can. This sucks. After this fiasco,You can bet I'm surely not going to download it immediately after release as I may run into the same problem and bugs are still in it.
Anyone with any ideas/suggestions/support? I'd love to hear from ya,thanks to all for reading.

Whatsapp for Nokia Lumia 1020

I recently upgraded my phone to a Nokia Lumia 1020, I couldn't get Whatsapp at first but now I've managed to download it I've tried to send a few pictures to people, they seem to send perfectly from my end but the pictures people receive are very pixelated and small; has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to fix it? This is already my 2nd phone as the camera broke after only having the phone a week so I'm already regretting my phone choice!

Did you get the latest version of WhatsApp which was updated just a few hours back .. ? Not sure if this (known) issue has been attended to but check it out..
..anyway, its something to be looked at by the WhatsApp developers.

Nokia Lumia 1020 power consumption

On 5th of October 2013 I bought from Vodafone Romania a Nokia Lumia 1020. OS version: 8.0.10328.78. Firmware revision number: 3049.0000.1330.1001. Manufacter Name: RM-875_eu_hungary_298.
I'm syncing Microsoft Account daily (contacts only, no e-mail), one Outlook Exchange account every 15 minutes, one Google account every 30 minutes and one Yahoo! Mail account every hour.
I have also configured Twitter account, Facebook account and Nokia account. The Facebook application (the one developed by Microsoft) has notifications turned off. For Twitter I'm using Rowi application and this one also has notifications turned off. On home screen I have the Me tile which displays notifications when there are new items on Facebook and Twitter.
The Facebook settings are:
- Notifications: No notifications
- Lock screen: Off
- Location : Off
- Enable shake to refresh: On
In Settings > Applications > background tasks > advanced I have:
- AccuWeather
- Battery Performance
- extras+info
- Facebook
- HERE Drive+
- Nokia Care.
I never leave applications running in background (the multitasking list is empty).
I'm on 3G. My data plan does not allow me to use 4G.
For the most part of the day I'm at work, in the office, and I'm not using my phone. It stays idle. Glance screen is configured on Peak so my phone's display is turned off most of the time.
I have WiFi turned off, NFC turned OFF, location turned off, XBOX syncronization turned off, music and videos syncronization turned off, find my phone turned off.
Today, I have received no phone calls, I have not dialed anybody, and my phone stayed on my desk for almost 9 hours. I did not take any pictures with my phone today.
And yet, for the most part of the day (from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM), the Battery Performance application showed a steady discharge rate of 2% per hour.
Is this normal for a new Nokia Lumia 1020 in those given circumstances?

Totally normal mate, you should get a wireless charger + shell and use your phone more and enjoy it between placing it on the charging plate on your desk!!

My Nokia Lumia 1020 camera not working anymore

I bought this my Nokia Lumia 1020 with so much excitement, and it arrived on Saturday...got to it on Sunday night and dived in to the camera...amazing! I said... Just this evening wanted to take an interesting night composition, pressed the camera button...instead of it to come on, was greeted with a humming sound.... Of sort... The app wouldn't open, tot it was d app with the problem...den turned on my flashlight app, but also greeted the d strange sound...also the light won't come on... I am really disappointed and getting forstrated by Nokia...
what can I do?

Sorry for the inconvenience it is causing you. By the way, how was the phone now? Is it still doing the same thing? Is it happening to the default camera only or same with the other camera app? Did something happen to your phone prior to the issue? Is your phone's software up-to-date?
You may check if there's an available software update for your phone by going to Settings > Phone updates. Note that a stable internet connection is needed. We encourage you to use Wi-Fi instead. How do I sync the calendar info etc from outlook 2011 for MAC with my nokia lumia 1020 - I assume there's a way through outlook.com but I can't find the answer anywhere. Thank you!

When you set up an account from Outlook or Windows Live, the calendar associated with that account will be synced to your phone and will automatically stay in sync.

It's coming to Windows phones but no word on exactly when.
Also, I notice you have your phone number listed in your profile. It is unwise to post your phone number there for all the Internet world to see and possibly harvest for spam use. At the top of the page click on My Settings and go to personal information and remove your phone number.

How to unlock Nokia Lumia 1020? Please Help Me.

Hi! How do you unlock Nokia Lumia 1020 w/c is locked with AT&T? I just bought mine in the US a couple weeks ago, but before I bought the phone I asked the AT&T Customer Number (1-800-331-0500) that I am a non-US resident and I bringing the phone to my Country. The lady on the other line told me there's no problem as long as I am buying the phone with no obligaation / pay in full price of the phone and call them again thay can unlock the phone. When I bought the phone and called again, the person on the other line told me he can't and the only way is thru website www.att.com/deviceunlock. Now, I've been trying to unlock my phone since Aug. 31 but no avail. So, are those people in AT&T customer service didn't really know what are they doing and if it is really in their hearth to be called a customer service representative? Because, if they knew what are they doing this should have not happen and I should not bought this phone. Now, when I blog thru their website somebody emailed me and telling me different policies again, here is the last email he sent me.
