Nokia Lumia 520 screen cracked

I love my Nokia Lumia 520 but very disappointed with the thin glass on the screen. I fell over on the path and had my phone in my hand therefore when I fell over the phone screen cracked and now the touch will not work but the LCD is fine, the screen still lights up. I'm on waiting for a new screen so I can replace it myself but like I said seriously disappointed! I got this phone in June for my birthday and then one mistake it just cracked.

Hi, josphatchoge13. To verify, those issues occured right after receiving your phone from the Nokia Care Point, is that correct? If so, did you try informing the technicians about it? By the way, are you also having issues with your SMS, MMS, mobile data connection, and voicemail? About not playing any sound, this happens regardless of what task you're doing on the phone which requires sound, right? If you have tried any troubleshooting steps, can you tell us what are they? We look forward to your reply. By the way, we're glad to see you in the forum again.

Nokia Lumia 520 - Screen Cracked, Touch Screen not...

The other day I accidentaly dropped my 520 in the street. The screen has a large thin crack from the top left corner to about the middle right of the screen. I can live with the crack, it's barely noticable, as it looks like a hair on the screen. However, the touch screen doesn't work either, which is quite a problem.
I've looked online and I have seen Screen Digitizers, which I believe are the glass screens which contain the touch technology. However, will I need to order anything else?

i have had my nokia lumia for 6 months and the screen cracked randomly in my coat pocket the other day,

I went back to carphone warehouse and they said i should contact nokia for help.
He also said the phone isnt a high end phone and doesnt have gorilla glass like the iphones.
I was a bit annoyed to hear that as i had assumed all phones had toughed glass and they recommened I just buy a new phone.

I dont think nokia should be selling them if they break randomly or soo easily.

Depends on the country, you'd need to ask Nokia care in your country directly. Now that the 520 has dropped in price it would probably cost less to replace it with another 520, or the newer 530.

Welcome to the gang. I got my 720 repaired at own cost from Nokia. Breakage is not covered under warranty. After that many more problems started cropping up like button malfunction etc.
When i returned to Nokia for a check up as it was under warranty. Nokia refused stating that if a screen is repaired the warranty is void. (Sent via Paragon telelinks, Thane, India) to Nokia for repair.
So think 2 times before you spend 50 % of phone cost in sreen repair.

Nokia lumia 520 screen zooms in too much

I purchased Lumia 520 about a week ago but after two three days the problem started. The lock screen zooms in so much that it is impossible to attend any incoming call also it is impossible to see the incoming number's digits because they are so much zoomed in that they just don't fit on to the screen. Everytime this problem occurs,I simply restart the phone and it gets fixed up but I can't do this everytime ad this is very inconvenient to. Please help me to get rid of this piece of junk.

There is a very simple solution to this problem and explains why my phone screen is always enlarging. Instead of restarting the phone, which I hated doing all the time, simply double tap the phone using 2 fingers in the middle of the screen. I guarantee this will work and will return your screen back to it's normal size. I hope this helps!

Nokia Lumia 720 screen cracked =(

Kinda disappointed.. Thought it would be a lot tougher and it was just brand new.
Can it be fixed? Can the screen be replaced? Please someone reply, I'm really unhappy about the situation. I live in the Philippines BTW.

Sorry to know .. But Yes, it can be fixed. Contact your local Nokia Care for more details on the cost ( as it will not be covered under warranty) as well as availability of the parts..

Unsupported File Format (nokia lumia 520)

My Nokia Lumia 520 will not post pictures to social networks, transfer them to my computer, set them as my lock screen or even edit them. I purchased the phone only a couple of months ago and it was working perfectly, but then it would just come up with 'Unsupported File Format' when i tried to do anything with them. I did a full system reset, but the problem remained and I don't know what to do. I still have warranty on it and don't know wether swapping it would do any good. Please help!

Are you still having the same issue? If so, have you tried the suggestion given by nj15? Did you reset it by going to Settings > About > Reset your phone? Are all the pictures taken from your phone's camera or came from other sources?

my new nokia lumia 520 hangs.
its been only 20 days i brought my new lumia 520.
Case : I just completed call. the screen got blacked out. we can still get incoming calls.
we have the option to switch off. when it asks to slide down. it never happens. not able to slide it down.
Solution - i removed battery and replaced. (This is very bad solution but i had no other option)
tried - done power off and also volume down button with power off. it dint work.
So disappointed!!

hi mate, as a precursor to taking your phone to nokia care, you can check that you have the latest firmware updates for your device, and that you are up to date with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store. also try performing a soft and then a hard reset if that doesn't work.

Nokia Lumia 520 - Alternative way of locking/unloc...

I've got Nokia Lumia 520 before a week and overall the phone seems really good for my needs, but I found yesterday that the only way to lock/unlock the screen is by using the Power button every time.
My question is: Is there an alternative way of doing this like for example double tapping the touchscreen or by some app that can perform such function?

The 52x hardware does not support the Glace screen functionality. I would guess that in sleep mode the used screen has no power thus would not sense the tap or be able to display the clock. It's a budget phone for a reason..
That said, pressing the power button is the only action to wake up the phone..

Nokia Lumia 520 Error: Unable to find bootable opt...

My Nokia Lumia 520 unexpectadly shut down and reebotted as i proceeded to pause my music. now the only reaction i reiceve from it is a black screen which says Error: Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shut down.
if anyone has only proven solutions in fixing this issue, please let me know.

If you are pertaining to Lumia phones that has the Windows Phone 8.1 software, yes, those are supported by the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. You can verify this info here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/mobile/support/product/lumia520/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA14298.... If the recovery tool is installed on your computer & it's still not recognizing your phone, try to uninstall it and install again. By the way, have you tried coordinating this with a different Nokia Care Point for a second opinion?

Uninstalling Applications from Nokia Lumia 520

I want to uninstall some applications from my Windows phone (NOKIA LUMIA 520) 8 so as to make my phone a little bit free from unused applications. I could find a place where I could do so. Please help me. Thanks.

Left Swipe on the Home Screen to go to the Applications list .. Select the application ..and Long Press on it .. select 'Uninstall' ...Some pre-installed applications can't be removed.
Further, you may install THIS application and store all the Maps data on the SD Card to free up space in the Phone memory ... If you wish to download the subject application, log-in using the same credentials that you use on this Forum ..or try the QR Code in the Attachment.

Nokia Lumia 520 - manual settings for internet

I have just got a Nokia Lumia 520. In the UK using Three everything worked well. I live in Spain and have swapped the SIM card for my Spanish Masmovil SIM - my deal includes 1GB of data.
The Spanish instructions on www.masmovil.es show a Nokia Lumia with different screen options and I cannot find "configuration" so I can set up the APN for Masmovil.
Help?

Point 2 says choose "configuracion" which is obviously "settings" and I can follow through to step 4 when the display on the website says "click on ADD APN" also shown in Spanish as "agregar APN" however all that is shown on my Nokia below "Network Selection" which is set to automatic, is SIM Applications.
If I click on that I just get the "recargar" or "recharge" option ... which is not APN. I am on a contract so there is no requirement for Recharge anyway,
Confused? Well I am too ....

Nokia Lumia 520, Several frustrations please help.

Just brought a Nokia Lumia 520, seemed like a good choice some cpu/gpu/ram as the 720, bigger screen than the 620, would have got the 620 if it was a 4" screen.
I use a smartphone for these reasons.

Reading articles/browsing the web: Frustrating.
Internet Explorer doesn't display a large number of pages correctly.
When a website has a menu (links) to swipe through instead of swiping to the next one it both swipes and opens the link, every time. m.IMDB.com for example.
What can I do about this?

The volume button on the 520 seems very cheap, it's just a loose bit of plastic on the case it's self, is this normal?
I'm currently a premium member of Spotify, the Windows Phone Spotify app forgets when settings are changed, when I try to stream in high quality it always goes back to normal (which sounds pretty bad). There's also no "extreme" quality option.
Xbox Music Pass, this just seems like a really poorly made app, I've signed up for the premium streaming (as a Spotify alternative). But to get to it I need to click on store\then music, type in the artist I want, and once the music starts, i need to constantly click the "..." button the "more in store" button to change songs within the album, the list it's self doesn't even show you which song is playing, you need press the "<-" button to see the title. And on top of all that instead of the nice clean background there's a picture of the artist, but the picture is stretched and blurred and looks horrible, very off putting.
Also is the a way of seeing the "status bar" type info without pressing the volume button?
Please help me, I'm tempted to go back to Android but really don't want too.

If you hold the back button down without letting it go then all screens that have been left open can be scrolled across screen 1 tap on desired screen opens it as start screen. Same with internet explorer hit the .......... At bottom of screen select tabs and it puts every page visited as a small tile with a. X in corner they can be closed in seconds in the one screen without ever hitting the back button. Hope this is helpful.

Nokia Lumia 520 "Find my Phone"

I cannot get the find my Phone functionality working consistently on my Nokia Lumia 520.
I have a data and Wifi connection.
I am not in airplane mode.
I have SMS functionality.
Location Services are On.
Services/Find my Phone is Off. When I slide the option to On, it remains off when I go back into settings!
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
