Nokia Lumia 521 problems

I'm having a few issues with my phone and I want to know if this is normal behavior for this type of phone. I noticed that when I turn my phone off the screen seems to stay on just with nothing but a blank screen and this only happens sometimes so this is why I'm concerned

I can relate to having problems with ur Nokia phn..i purchased the Nokia Lumina 521 3 months ago, the first 30 days was great, I even talked a close friend into buying one a cpl days after I bought nine..after the 30 days past I noticed my phn productivity slowing down. I did the troubleshoot and cleaned out my aps n storage. I was wondering if I was the only one having the troubles with my phn n asked my friend what she thought. She began telling me how pissed she was with this product low n behold we were both having the same issues here almost 2 months n the problems grew for both mine and hers. The phn began to get altogether slower until still today it freezes up on n off thru use, it closes out aps or sights I am in without warning and shuts itself off. It is very frustrating to have expected so much more from a highly recommended phn. I purchased a 2 yr warranty plan upon purchase of the phn, I filed a claim yesterday and found out yes my warranty covers these issues but I have to send the phone in and b without a phone for 10-30 days until repairs can b made. I am outraged at the fact that due to factory default on theses Nokia Lumina 521 phns I am being asked to go without a phn! After all of the problems I have had with this horrid phn I wld have thought a replacement phone wld b offered during repairs or even to be offered an upgraded version of the phone my friend was also told the same thing about her phn. Sadly she was forced to buy a new phone because she runs a business and needs phone accessibility for her wrk. I just expected way more out of the Nokia company to right there mistakes. I do not think the problems u r experiencing with ur Nokia phn is normal and I think it wld b good for u to address the problems about the phn with the manufacturing company and ask for a replacement! An upgraded version for all the disruption and trouble with the phns. I wld also encourage anyone else that is having issues with there Nokia phn to bring it to attention so ppl dnt have to continue to b ripped off or go thru these problems if its addressed it is possible for the company to fix the problem and improve there devices. Thanks for letting me rant n rave, just a very angry customer and feel very ripped off!

Nokia lumia 521 equalizer update

So yesterday got real excited when i got this notification from the windows store.
Downloaded the updaate and i stilo cant get it to work.
I got to my settings and hit music
it loads for a couple seconds, and for a fraction of a scond i can see the equalizer then it dissapears. and just shows me flip to silence
anyone ealse having this issue? i also got the lumia black update this morning but the eq still didnt work
am i doing something wrong or does this just suck?

Microsoft account setup on the Phone? Settings > email+accounts > microsoft account - tap it
Is the time zone and time set correctly?

Hi, phantom77. Thanks for posting your inquiry in the community. What do you mean by 'unlock'? Are you referring to your phone's password or the restriction code that enables you to use another SIM card from another operator?
If you're looking for the restriction code, it is only provided by the operator to whom your phone is tied up with. If you're referring to your phone's password & you forgot it, you may need to perform a reset to be able to access it again. However, do note that this process will wipe all your phone's data. Nokia Lumia (928) Problem.

I've recently been having this problem with my Nokia Lumia 928, I was doing a reset (Factory Reset) on my phone when I've been on spinning gears for a few couples last night. Waited and nothing, so I looked around and tried find other solutions.
I did the soft reset/hard reset but all I've been getting is the low battery, I plug it into the charger for a good 30 minutes + But still won't turn on and still saying it is low battery. I tried doing the resets again but basically all I'm getting are the two, spinning gears and the low battery. Also, while it's charging it randomly go'es to the spinning gears.

-Phone was showing spinning gears
-Battery was low
-Took Sim card out

-Press and hold the Volume down & Power buttons until the phone vibrates then release the power button but keep pressing the volume down key for approximately 10 seconds until you see a low battery on the screen.

--Volume DOWN

Nokia Lumia 521 - WiFi connected, but no internet ...

I have a brand new Lumia 521 on T-Mobile. I set up the wifi connection and it shows connected. However, there is no internet connection. Cannot download any app or anything.
Trouble Shooting: Rebooted the phone couple of times. Turned on/off wifi. delete/re-connect wifi.
Reboot wireless router couple of times.
Turned off the data service on my phone and only wifi is on now. Checked my router that there is an entery for my Windows Phone, but could not get any logs.
Nothing helped so far...
Loaded my sim with funds, thinking if something no fund is blocking it somewhere :-D
Everything is fine on my other smartphones.
Did I receive a faulty device?

At least you have 8.1. Those of us with 521 not updated yet, no real answers. Someone at Nokia going to close thread cuz no one posting. What to post, you should've been a politician with the no answer answer. Whole experience makes me rethink Microsoft and Nokia altogether. Both companies I used to believe in and support. Even word and excel don't sync well from phone to desktop. Backup for what? Only if you reset phone. That is backup even DOS using command lines would have been ashamed of (honestly so long ago don't remember if it had backup but I know my 386SX did) Pictures duplicate, triplicate and repopulate after deleted and I have backup to cloud turned off. seems Microsoft thinks differently than I about this issue? It continues to bring back a pic of EX that i hate...Great reminder!!!!. Phone storage eaten and not accessible to delete. Not allowed to delete certain apps that came with phone. Now I delete apps I prefer and no space becomes available? Do not use Nokia cinemagraph. Can't be viewed anywhere but on phone without converting. And what phone/camera has no flash? My parents old 110 (I think) at least had a cube. Poloroid built in...just saying that was the early 80s. Now lock screen and theme (ugly muted colors, btw) not working, can't get space back even when hooked to desktop, use cloud 6 now to keep phone and cloud from changing between app and desktop, have to convert all Nokia files, and most apps not available from what I can gather because Microsoft limits us. Nokia and Microsoft, get your acts together before marketing with one another. And, have answers to these questions. If you can't do it right, don't do it all. Maybe best to walk away from one another. Although, other than poor apps and flimsy phone, I am more disappointed in a guru conglomerate that doesn't care about the user. You keep trying to catch up with Mac and Droid...not at this rate. Excel fave program to use and love outlook. But this is crap on a stick, SOS and plain junk. And, the mighty do fall. I remember original Apple having market, commodore 64 and Tandy? Two of the three no longer exist. IBM was a typewriter back then, as far as I was aware. For Nokia, Here doesn't usually get me to correct place with full addy and zip entered) Not a good platform or flimsy phone. Can't wait to go back to Droid....so, I suggest every time I can't find an answer from one of your sites, you stop asking what I think. Here it is. Nokia Lumia Contact: problem entering alphabet in ...

There are two very serious limitations with the Nokia Lumia 800, so far as the contact entry is concerned:
1. It doesn't have the back cursers, it only has a back space.
Problem: If you enter a number wrong at only one place, or say miss a numeral, you have to type the number from beginning.
2. it doesn't allow to enter the alphabet in the contact number
Problem: If you dial on a bridge like Webex etc, then there is a dial-in number ( generally a long) and a passcode. After you type the dial-in, an announcement will come requesting passcode, but in the old Nokia phones ( and also in Blackberry), you could introduce a pause between the dial-in and passcode by some alphabet : say 'P', 'X' etc.
Fortunately the NLM is compatible with the old Nokia phones, so if we enter 'P', it acts as a temporary pause, so the whole dial-in + passcode can be entered in one go, and you don't need to refer this every time to join the bridge.
But as the NLM-800, doesn't allow alphabet entry through the device we have problem.
If a qwerty keyboard can be provided this can act as a solution,as the phone already supports the feature, also the back cursor ( moving back without erasing the content) will also come.
Can you fix this in the next release.
Also any workaround for now, other than using the Microsoft Live ID?

When controlling the cursor with your finger, its better to move your finger downwards a little bit so that you can still see the cursor without the cursor moving down another line. If you move your finger down slowly to the next line while the cursor is activated then the cursor should still stay on the line above where you can see it clearly.
The cursor will snap to the beginning of each number or each letter if you move it slowly to the left or right, until it jumps to the start of the next letter.
You use the comma " , " to insert a pause, and use it after entering a space. For example if dialling number 123 then you need to pause and enter 456, you type 123 ,456 <<< so there is a space after the 3 then a pause using the comma sign.

I have a carrier unlocked Lumia 521 which I am trying to use in Asia. I am unable to connect to my carrier's 3G network even though network's carrier frequency is 2100.
What could be the problem ?

Dear All,
thanks to this great support community website, I will b hopefully able to solve my prob.
Description:
my nokia lumia 920 has got the latest Win8 firmware and Lumia Amber update ( with 3 UK) but when trying to play videos on my win 7 pc's,
the actual video is corrupt or does not work properly,ie sound and slow immage processing.
I have the latest win 7 codec pack on pc and tried apps like VLC,ITunes,Windows Media Player,Nokia Media Player,Nokia Video Converter and others without success......not sure what's wrong but video were ok with my old Nokia N8......perhaps the format is not recognised??????
The fact that the pc plays the video means that format is not an issue but the quality is just terrible,video and sound.
I used both the WP desktop app to sync and dragging and/or dropping file with no difference at all.
DESPERATE,PLS HELP!!!!!!!!

Camera resolution is low and can’t change resolution (Nokia N8 has better)
Lumia 920 is 8Mpix, N8 is 12 Mpx, that said please elaborate. I am pretty sure that you will not be able to tell which phone took a shot if I show you one and don't tell you which I used.
Navigation (Here drive + beta) not comes with traffic updates and not giving alternate routes. Yeah traffic update is in the maps but there’s no point in there (Nokia N8 has better).
HERE suite of apps is relatively new and constantly being updated. I'll come
NBA live streaming No App. And flash player not support. (IOS and Android has it) not on N8 also.
Flash is dead, not available anymore for any up to date OS. Talk to the developer of an app on bringing it to WP8

Your N8 is never really off
Keyboard not comes with arrow (<>) keys. Can’t type a missing letter between a word, have to delete the word and type the whole thing again.
tap and hold in textbox, cursor appears, move finger (while holding) to where it needs to go
Music player app can’t close. Just pause the song.
There's an app if you feel you must remove the player. Last I checked when paused playback is stopped.

Nokia Lumia 520 problem with internet

Hey
My girlfriend bought today a nokia lumia 520 from an internet shop.
Now she is installing it and it seems to have a problem.
So our netwerk is 'telenet' where we have an abo wich include 1gb internet.
She installed everything like it has to, APN and stuff all ok.
Now she cannot connect to the 3 or 2g netwerk on her phone, it keeps saying we have to put 'roaming' on.
If we do this, the internet goes, but i dont think that is how its supposed, maybe she will have to pay a lot if she does roaming. While we actually dont need it.
Can you help us with this problem?

Hello, I have browsed the Nokia website and I have looked at the CR-200 car charger. This product does not appear to be compaitible with my phone.
Does anyone know if Nokia makes another charger that is compaitible with the Lumia 521?

I got a Lumia 521 from US for my own usage and unknowingly to me without getting the Security code taken care of there itslef. Now I am stuck with a beautiful toy which I cannot use. It was my fault no doubt but now how do I get it working.. I have already talke to Nokia Support guys here in India but they told me they cannot do anything about it
Is there a way out ? Need help pleazzz..

are you asking about a security code, or the unlock code?
if you bought the device new, then you shouldnt need a previous owners unlock code. my guess is you need an unlock code.

Nokia Lumia 521 WP 8.1

I have a Lumia 521 and my carrier is T-Mobile, but I can't get the 8.1 update for my phone. Everytime I check for updates it says that my phone is up to date even though I know its not! What should I do?!

As a 521 owner and T-Mobile user, I can honestly say I am so unsatified with the responses I've seen as to when we will see the 8.1 and Cyan release for this device. I have seen everything from it will be released this summer to sometime this year. Between Microsoft and T-Mobile they need to get their act together. At this point I cannot understand how Microsoft can start to let there devices begin to get fragmented as the are. They are already releasing the official 8.1.1 update to some devices and yet others are still sitting at 8.0. It seems that both T-Mobile, Verison and Microsoft are at fault in this mess, if it is the carrier not updating the devices then stop selling the devices to them! Microsoft needs to take an approach more like Apple and release updates all at once for all devices, than Android's fragmentated release by each carrier, that is if they want satisfied customers. The fragmented approach hinders developers from making stable apps, and frustrates end users. I chose WP8 over iOS or Android partly due to cost, the potential of the OS and the prospect it was going to be a unified OS accross all devices. Cost is only a small factor to me, it was more the potential and the unification that attracted me, but hey that is just this consumers opinion.
