As updating the software is the most recommended thing to do, can you wait a little bit more, my friend? Microsoft has announced that the 7.8 update will be available early this year (Q1). Read more here: An update on Windows Phone 7.8.

    Hi
Can a member of the staff from Nokia confirm whether or not the Lumia 800 will be getting the equaliser support in Nokia Music as seen in the video below (2:40)?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTzPzYVvTLw&feature=player_embedded

    Hi ShayKaPow,
Thank you for your post and welcome to Nokia Support Discussions!
The phone on the video is running Windows Phone 8 operating system, which is going to have a different set of features when compared to the upcoming 7.8 update for current Windows Phones. Microsoft has not yet released any detailed information on features included in the 7.8 update, so we unfortunately cannot comment on this. Please see here for a post on the Nokia conversations blog on the 7.8 update.
What I can say is, that the equaliser sure looks cool and would advise you to keep an eye on the Nokia conversations blog as all the latest information will be posted there.

  • Nokia Lumia 800. Battery and start up problems

    Hi there,
I have been having quite a lot of problems with my nokia lumia 800.
Firstly: When the battery dies it takes a long time to get it charged back up. I have tried cycling the charger power between the laptop and power outlet. I have to play around with the power supply for a long time before the unit actually starts charging. And even then when it has just enough charge, it tries to start up but seems to run out of power half way through the start up and I end up back playing with the charging again.
It seems that there is no battery protection in the phone and the battery can completely discharge. Which would account for the problem with getting it to charge back up.
Secondly: Yesterday the phone went dead for no reason. It had about a quarter charge in the battery. I tried to turn it back on but nothing. I tried charging it and nothing.
Again after cycling the power many times between the power outlet and the laptop, I got some response. It vibrated and displayed the low battery screen. So I thought ok, it's charging. But no.
Once it has enough battery it tries to start up and then freezes on the provider logo and does not go any further. The screen stays like this. Illuminated and with the logo.
I have tried reseting the unit by holding the power button down for 10seconds and it vibrates and tries to start up again. But again freezes.
I have noticed that when I leave it charging, the unit gets quite warm. But no matter what I do the startup proceedure stops on the provider logo and no more.
I tried starting it with the charger connected and it just seems to be powering the screen because when I unplug it the unit goes dead again within a matter of minutes.
I am at a total loss as to what happened to my phone.
    Can someone help please?

From the sound of it I think it needs a Nokia Care Point. Could be faulty battery or faulty charging.  You can locate your nearest care point using the link below

  • Nokia Lumia 800, Depleted battery Won't start up.

Hi,  After being away for home for 5 days with no charger for my Nokia lumia 800, I foolishly allowed it to run out of battery, Unaware of the problems this can cause due faulty hardware, thanks to Nokia I returned home and plugged the phone into charge. I have allowed my Phone to run out of battery many times before in the past as you wouldn't expect any problem to come of it. After many hours of the phone being on charge I went to turn it on, it vibrated and came up with the phone providers image then no further, it stayed on this image for hours until I held down the power button and  it would turn itself off. Not being to worried at this point I went online to the many chatrooms, helpline, youtube videos you name it to source a solution. Having tried absolutely everything, about 10 times nothing has worked to multiple button combinations, heating the phone up, plugging into PC with zune - everything. Now slightly worried as I really do want this phone to work and not have to buy a new one at a great cost.  This is not a problem I have cause, it's a problem with Nokia, and the manufacturing of the phone, So if no one on  here will be able to aid me in fixing the phone, once I return to the UK I shall take it into a Nokia store to get it looked at, which i won't be happy to do as many of the Nokia outlets are in unconventional locations such as Glasgow.
Thank in advance for any Help which is much appreciated,
    Lambtj

You are posting to a user to user support forum here and not contact ing Nokia Care. If the 800 will not start anymore and you have done all you say you have done it's likely the battery needs to be replaced.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Yes, I know there are already several topics on this but I'm pretty desperate now.
I receive a Nokia Lumia 800 in December for christmas (I know it's not the latest but my family doens't have all that much money). Since christmas day I have been trying to obtain the update for the Lumia. The one that fixes battery and stuff. I've tried search for updates and I've tried searching using Zune. I've had NO success at all. I've tolerated the many flaws in my Lumia such as the lack of a screenshot ability and the bluetooth issue. Those are but two of many. I really want to like this phone and so far, I've only managed to become annoyed by it. I refuse to switch to iOS and I don't have the money for a decent android so I ask, does anyone know of any way I can get updates for my Lumia 800?

Pretty sure it's running the latest updates.
A lumia 720 would probably have been (much) cheaper, is faster overall, runs the latest Windows Phone OS (WP8.0 GDR3 with Nokia Black FW) and will be receiving at least the next major OS update.

  • Cold weather + Nokia Lumia 800 = Inactive touch sc...

Is this normal for your touch screen to be inactive during cold weather on your nokia lumia 800? If so what are some remedies to get the screen to get the touch screen active. Maybe using a blow dryer to warm up your phone or using a phone sock case to reduce the cold temperatures in the morning. What are your thoughts on this topic?

There have been similar low temperature issues reported using N9, which seems ironic for phone designed in Finland. Do also wonder whether state of charge of battery is implicated in such behaviour as really need to be fully charged before taking out in the cold.
I remember on a cold morning I left it on the charger over night and the touch screen wasn't working.

  • Broken touch screen on Nokia Lumia 800

I bought a Nokia Lumia 800. I also got an insurance along with it. Recently the phone fell from my pocket and landed on the top right corner to the floor. The so called Corning's gorilla glass cracked. I went to the nearest Nokia care and asked them to repair it. They took a month just to reply to me (after so many follow-ups) that they cannot do it in my city (I live in Pondicherry, India) and had to send it to New Delhi fo repair. Even in that they were not sure if it will get repaired. The following statement is from an email from Nokia Customer Care.
"They’ll try to solve the issue. If it is repairable, they’ll repair. Otherwise they’ll return your handset without repaired. If they returned your handset without repaired, they’ll charge rs.175 for transportation expenses"
When i asked them what if they cannot repair it, he asked me to be positive... So the problem here is in many levels
    1) Why did the phone glass crack from a fall of such short distance? The transmission of impact was from the body directly to the glass....(photo attached)
    2) Why is there not enough support from Nokia Lumia 800 yet from all the service centers?
    3) I am made to wait for more than a month with a cracked mobile phone......

    1) Gorilla Glass is 'Glass' and it can break/crack with impact, it is extremely robust, not indistuctable .
2)All service centres cannot supply full support everywhere, i have to have my Nokia sent away for repair in the UK if I have an issue and can take up to 30 days, so you are not being singled out and this applies to other makes as well.
3)See 2 and also if you have insurance as stated, and as it would never be considered a warranty issue as it was misuse by the user, contact your insurer, the issue is with them, if you paid for insurance, they are the people to contact ?
    Good Luck

  • Nokia Lumia 800 is off and continually vibrating.

    Hey guys,
I was just using my nokia lumia 800 normally and then it suddenly shut off. I've tried everything to get it working, soft reset, hard reset, taking the sim out, letting the battery go flat then plugging it in, but nothing worked. This has happened once before but it turned back on after 5 mins. It has been 2 days now and it is stil continually vibrating. What should I do?

Hi JulseyB, Welcome to the Nokia forum!
It sounds like you have tried most things to get it back up and running again, I have a feeling it might be a hardware failure, I suggest that you take your device to your local Nokia Care point as soon as you can to get it looked at by a specialist.
    I hope this has helped!

  • Nokia Lumia 800 key vibration

I bought a new Nokia Lumia 800. I noticed that despite turning off vibration, the phone vibrates each time the back key (<-) is pressed. Is there any way to turn this off. i believe this could save a lot of battery.
Also how do we completely close an application in Lumia 800? I opened a page in IE. pressed back key. Then pressed and held back key to find there is no active application or IE running. However, when i open IE next time, I see the previous page has been loaded and it has been active all this time which could have been eating in to my data usage as well as battery charge.
    Thanx in advance.

Yep it is true for Psychomania said, however I've been using Nokia since 3310 and since then I've declared that Nokia is a "connecting people" phone. Because it is easy to use, it is easy to share (contacts, sounds, pictures, messages etc), it is easy to customize. Moreover it is not hard to change from an old Nokia phone to the new one.
After Lumia comes, I believe this is the best of Nokia phone that the quality is almost equal with IOS. I do agree for following the trend of the consumer mostly (social, market, book etc) is a good thing to do. But please Nokia, do not change your ability, do not change your "connecting people" style. I'm feeling as a bird on cage with Lumia, could not change sms tone, when I was migrating contacs and I found my contacs get multiplied and I have to merge it or delete it, Could not change my phone name directly from my phone. I know IOS is using itunes for importing things inside it, yet It is not good enough if we remarks all of it. You have your own style, Nokia.

    hello,

    Does this help?
However, after looking at price on second-hand market for a Lumia 800 here in Germany (40 €), you might be better-off with another phone. In Germany, MyDealz.de and Geizhals.at/de might be resources to start from.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 charging and photo messaging probl...

I got my Nokia Lumia 800 in May and was great to start with but when I updated the phone to the most recent update  I started to get problems.
My picture messaging wont work at all, when i recieve a picture message I get "get media content now" but when I try and get it, it doesnt work, I have taken my phone into the shop to see if I had the correct apn etc but they cant see any problems with it. When I took it back to where I got it from and they told me that they would have to send it away without giving me a replacement until I get it back, telling me I would need to buy a new one, I cant have this as I have a micro sim card which will only fit in certain phones.
I have also recently started to get a charging problem aswell, I have reset my phone but nope, and I have tried other chargers which dont help either, my friend used my charger to see if it would work in her phone and the charger seems to be working fine, again it seems to be a fault with the phone.
I love my phone but I am not happy with the faults that seem to be happening now, as I need my phone to be in working order due to family illness.
Could anyone help me with this ?

Have you fully charged via Laptop ? If so let it run down 10% or so and connect to supplied charger and see if it will charge then, also if you have done a software update you could try reverting back to old software then re-installing latest again.
Final solution is a Nokia Care Point !

  • Applications for Nokia Lumia 800 no more available...

I cannot find applications for my Nokia Lumia 800 with Windows 7 operative system.
Marketplace and Nokia Apps Highlights no longer support applications for my Phone?

I have no idea what you are saying, I can get apps on my L800 without any problem and new apps become available almost daily.
Also currently available apps get updated frequently for me so it is unclear to me what it is you are trying to say.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't charge, stuck on loading scr...

My Nokia Lumia 800 ran out  of battery while I was at work (not the first time) I take it home and plug it in, after 20 mins of the red battery screen it vibrates and springs to life, but it never got past the white 'Three' welcome screen (one of three screens that flash up when the phone is first turned on, others are Nokia screen and Windows screen).
It's been charging for over 10 hours and it's still stuck on that white screen. The phone feels cold (not stone cold, but not warm either) so clearly it's not charging. I've tried a different charger, different plug, and plugging it in to the computer. When I unplug it, it dies after 20-30 mins and I go through the whole process again the next time I charge it.
When I plugged it into the computer it behaved very strangely. It rapidly connected/diconncted itself, not giving Windows time to recognoise the device was plugged in and install the driver software. Before evneutally diconnecting itself and going back to that white screen.
What's wrong with it? It's not the first time it's totally ran out of battery (although I don't let it happen very often).
The phone is only 4 months old!
    What do I do?
Nokia Care on Twitter was useless, asked me to do soft resets (already tried, many times, the phone turns off briefly, vibrates, then back to that white screen).
If I have to send it in for repiars how do I do that? I live in South West England, my nearest Nokia Care store is in central London, several hours away.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
The white screen it's stuck on looks just like this: http://www.techwatch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Three-Logo-235x276.jpg

You should contact the nokia care point and they will organise the device to be collected.

  • Data Recovery on Nokia Lumia 800

I recently went on an incredibly moving trip to Poland and took many photos and videos. My Nokia Lumia 800 ran out of battery, so I charged it overnight. When I woke up to switch it on, the memory formatted, which meant I lost so many important photos and videos. I only pressed the on button so I am at a loss as to why this happened. I have arrived home and have researched the ways I could possibly recover these life-changing photos with recovery software (since I did not have access to the internet at the time, it did not sync with SkyDrive). Is there possibly a way I could reclaim these overwritten files? I have done the 'regedit' process, so my PC can recognise it as a device independent of Zune, though it only comes up as a 'Portable Device' in Computer, meaning the recovery software doesnt detect it as a memory store from which it can recover data (ie. Removable Storage Device) . Any thoughts as to how to fix that?
Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear a reply as soon as possible.

Unless you have made a backup of the photos or synced them to skydrive I am afraid there is no way to recover them.
