Nokia Lumia 800 won't boot after region+language c...

I just got my Nokia Lumia 800 and attempted to switch region+language to English(US) from English(UK).  It said I had to restart the phone to make the change.
The phone turned off and turned back on, but it is now stuck at the NOKIA logo and has been for the past 10 minutes.  I tried turning it off and back on, but it still did not boot.
I'm totally stuck with a bricked phone here.  Any suggestions?  Keep it on and wait it out?
Thanks,
Ken

@kanno41
You could try a "soft reset" by keeping Volume Down and Power buttons down until the phone vibrates three times; the phone should successfully restart with the Nokia logo after a few seconds.

  • HELP - My new Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up, even ...

I'm worried my Nokia Lumia 620 is a lemon, and the Care Centre will just keep taking it in for repair.  The reliability so far has been disappointing, especially as I was giving Nokia a try after a 10 year break, and also trying out Windows Mobile / Phone after a 6 year break.  I want to recommend it - I'm continually being asked by friends and colleagues what I think of my new phone.   Nokia will be smart to just replace it.
The details: my Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up today (again).  It hung on boot  this morning with the Nokia Logo.  That was over 2 hours ago.  It had this problem during February, and I returned it twice for repair to the local Nokia Care Centre.  I guess I'll take it in again later today, but it just feels like a lemon handset so far.
    Timeline:
Handset purchased in local Nokia Store on Jan 29 2013 ( 7 weeks ago)
Handset gave "Exclamation-Mark-Screen-of-Death" on Feb 19 2013 (3 weeks old handset)
Local Nokia Store sent me to local Nokia Care Centre, handed in overnight "for repair"
Phone returned on Feb-20-2013 after software refresh.
Worked fine for 1 week.   Problem returned Feb 26 2013. (4 week old handset)
Nokia Care Centre "replaced motherboard" on Feb 27 2013.
Has worked fine for 3 weeks.   Now Lumia 620 won't boot this morning - no Exclamation Mark, instead it's the Nokia Logo on boot.
The handset is 7 weeks old.
Hard reset (side-button-combination) hasn't worked either.
Any advice on getting this working, repaired or replaced?

Update on the repair - it didn't work.   I returned the phone to the Yau Ma Tei Nokia Care Centre on March 20th, and was given what was termed a 'replacement' phone.   I was pretty happy.  All was well.  But two days later when I tried to make a phone call using my headphones, I noticed that only the left audio channel was working through the earphones.   I tried a second pair of earphones and the same problem.    The audio was only working through the left channel.  On a new phone.  How strange.
So was it really new?   My suspicion is that the repair centre has used old returned parts (parts they perhaps term as refurbished) - so in fact my replacement phone is my old phone assembled with old and refurbished parts.   Was it in fact a refurbished phone assembled from refurbished parts?   Frustrating when they tell me it's a replacement phone.
That was back in late March.  I posted a couple of tweets and Nokia responded.  They even phoned me to try and help.  However no offer of a new phone.  All they suggested was that I revisit the Nokia Service Centre.   For a 4th time.
That was about 6 weeks ago, and I simply haven't made the time to go to the Service Centre again.   It's hard to find the time when my last 3 visits have been so unsuccessful.
Sometimes you just get a lemon.   It happened to me once before with a different manufacturer when I was on a contract and had to live with a phone for 2 years that kept cutting out during calls.   Same problem - the manufacturer attempted to repair it, but it just never worked properly.   That was 10 years ago.  Now it's happening with my new Nokia.  Luckily I'm not on contract this time.  I've read good reviews for the Lumia 620, and overall it's a pretty decent handset in every other way.
But the issues this particular handset has been plagued with has overshadowed any positive feelings I have been having.   I'll probably be cutting my losses and changing handsets in the summer.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't charge, stuck on loading scr...

My Nokia Lumia 800 ran out  of battery while I was at work (not the first time) I take it home and plug it in, after 20 mins of the red battery screen it vibrates and springs to life, but it never got past the white 'Three' welcome screen (one of three screens that flash up when the phone is first turned on, others are Nokia screen and Windows screen).
It's been charging for over 10 hours and it's still stuck on that white screen. The phone feels cold (not stone cold, but not warm either) so clearly it's not charging. I've tried a different charger, different plug, and plugging it in to the computer. When I unplug it, it dies after 20-30 mins and I go through the whole process again the next time I charge it.
When I plugged it into the computer it behaved very strangely. It rapidly connected/diconncted itself, not giving Windows time to recognoise the device was plugged in and install the driver software. Before evneutally diconnecting itself and going back to that white screen.
What's wrong with it? It's not the first time it's totally ran out of battery (although I don't let it happen very often).
The phone is only 4 months old!
    What do I do?
Nokia Care on Twitter was useless, asked me to do soft resets (already tried, many times, the phone turns off briefly, vibrates, then back to that white screen).
If I have to send it in for repiars how do I do that? I live in South West England, my nearest Nokia Care store is in central London, several hours away.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
The white screen it's stuck on looks just like this: http://www.techwatch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Three-Logo-235x276.jpg

You should contact the nokia care point and they will organise the device to be collected.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Yes, I know there are already several topics on this but I'm pretty desperate now.
I receive a Nokia Lumia 800 in December for christmas (I know it's not the latest but my family doens't have all that much money). Since christmas day I have been trying to obtain the update for the Lumia. The one that fixes battery and stuff. I've tried search for updates and I've tried searching using Zune. I've had NO success at all. I've tolerated the many flaws in my Lumia such as the lack of a screenshot ability and the bluetooth issue. Those are but two of many. I really want to like this phone and so far, I've only managed to become annoyed by it. I refuse to switch to iOS and I don't have the money for a decent android so I ask, does anyone know of any way I can get updates for my Lumia 800?

Pretty sure it's running the latest updates.
A lumia 720 would probably have been (much) cheaper, is faster overall, runs the latest Windows Phone OS (WP8.0 GDR3 with Nokia Black FW) and will be receiving at least the next major OS update.

  • Nokia Lumia 822 won't boot up

My mom had ordered a replacement phone because hers had been dropped at a gas station and somehow got ran over. Surprisingly, there was minor scratches to the back, no water damage, but the screen was crushed into many pieces. After filing a claim, we received the replacement phone only 2-3 days later. We followed the simple instructions to get the phone working  (insert the old sim card into the new phone and turn the device on.) But the phone will not boot up. We've plugged the phone up, hard reset it, everything. The screen comes on and shows the black screen with the Nokia logo, then switches over to the blue screen with the red Verizon box, but then it immediately goes back to the "charging" screen. Any suggestions?

        @bmwyatt,
Let's get your phone powered up!
Was the replacement phone fully charged when you tried powering it up? Try soft resetting the phone http://vz.to/1jfROVs and retest. Was the phone replaced through the insurance? If so, you need to contact Asurion if the issue persist. You can reach them at 888-881-2622. Keep me posted if you need further assistance.

  • Nokia Lumia 800, Depleted battery Won't start up.

Hi,  After being away for home for 5 days with no charger for my Nokia lumia 800, I foolishly allowed it to run out of battery, Unaware of the problems this can cause due faulty hardware, thanks to Nokia I returned home and plugged the phone into charge. I have allowed my Phone to run out of battery many times before in the past as you wouldn't expect any problem to come of it. After many hours of the phone being on charge I went to turn it on, it vibrated and came up with the phone providers image then no further, it stayed on this image for hours until I held down the power button and  it would turn itself off. Not being to worried at this point I went online to the many chatrooms, helpline, youtube videos you name it to source a solution. Having tried absolutely everything, about 10 times nothing has worked to multiple button combinations, heating the phone up, plugging into PC with zune - everything. Now slightly worried as I really do want this phone to work and not have to buy a new one at a great cost.  This is not a problem I have cause, it's a problem with Nokia, and the manufacturing of the phone, So if no one on  here will be able to aid me in fixing the phone, once I return to the UK I shall take it into a Nokia store to get it looked at, which i won't be happy to do as many of the Nokia outlets are in unconventional locations such as Glasgow.
Thank in advance for any Help which is much appreciated,
    Lambtj
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You are posting to a user to user support forum here and not contact ing Nokia Care. If the 800 will not start anymore and you have done all you say you have done it's likely the battery needs to be replaced.

  • My new Nokia Lumia 800 changes date and time after...

When i switch off and on my Nokia Lumia 800, date and time changes: from 2 september 2012 8.00 to 2 march 2013 14.00. I need help to understand this strange problem and find a solution.

    chrysale wrote:
I had the same problem with my Lumia 800. The Lumia 800 kept changing time and date as soon as I switched it off and turned it back on. In my case, doing a HARD RESET helped to fix this. BEWARE! You will lose all your data!
Switch off your phone, hold Volume Down, Power, Camera buttons down. Switch phone on. As soon as it vibrates, release Power button, keep Volume Down and Camera button pressed for a few seconds.
I have the same problem and after going through all the various support sites- Nokia, O2, and endless forums I was told the same thing "Make sure your auto-update for date and time is switched to automatic" But after telling them I don't know how many times that my Lumia 800 didn't have this option, only a 24 hours switch I was told there was nothing that could be done. However I appear to have sorted it out myself. The problem appears to be (or on my phone at least) is wi-fi connection, before I turn my phone off I have to disconnect from wi-fi and when I turn the phone back on the date and time stays corrected.
When I set the date and time manually (for the 3000th time!!) I held in the power button until the slide down close screen disappeared then released it and the phone restarts, then I done it again- same proceedure just to be sure and ever since the date and time has stayed correct. BUT BE SURE TO TURN OFF WI-FI BEFORE SWITCHING PHONE OFF. Hope this helps

I seem to have a similar problem. After the most recent software update I can no longer play back videos that I have taken with the phone! I can play you tube videos ok, but not ones I take with the camera. Any suggestions why? I can't find any settings which I could have changed? The files play fine on the computer.
    Thanks
What happens upon trying to play the videos? Is there any error message or is it just showing a blank screen?
You can try to copy the videos to your computer, delete the videos on your phone and then transfer them back to the phone from your computer.
If this would fail, you may consider resetting the phone by going to Settings and then About. As this will delete all the contents of the phone, ensure to sync your files or to create a backup copy. • Dead Nokia Lumia 800 warranty

I purchased my nokia lumia 800 from a person on amazon market place, the phone died after just a few days and, It will not power up since then. I wondered if I would be entitled to a warranty even though I do not have an origional receipt nor can I find the seriel number as the phone will not power on. Anyone any idea ?

    @cozmoss10
You may have problems satisfying conditions of warranty which states:-
"When making a claim under this Limited Warranty you will be required to provide: a) the Product (or the affected part) and b) the original proof of purchase, which clearly indicates the name and address of the seller, the date and place of purchase, the product type and the IMEI or other serial number."
    More details here:http://europe.nokia.com/support/repair-and-recycle/european-limited-warranty
I have been caught out in the past with Amazon "One Click" purchase even from established business seller, where there is no invoice included and only communication is that item has been despatched.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 to TV

Has anyone managed to connect there Nokia Lumia 800 to there tv? using the adaperters you can buy to convert mini USB into HDMI ?
    Dave

There is an app for that! "Play to" NOT "Lumia Play To", it's too recent to be compatible with our antiquated phone. Download Play To on your Lumia, do the set up, make sure you TV is connected through the internet LAN, or something else. We had ours (Sharp Aquos) connected over WiFi, but the app worksz over WiFi, so connect the TV through a line. after the set up choose what you want your phone to stream TO (your TV) then install the Xmovies8 app, download a movie you want to see and take it from a 5"
    screen to a 64"!!! word!

  • Broken touch screen on Nokia Lumia 800

I bought a Nokia Lumia 800. I also got an insurance along with it. Recently the phone fell from my pocket and landed on the top right corner to the floor. The so called Corning's gorilla glass cracked. I went to the nearest Nokia care and asked them to repair it. They took a month just to reply to me (after so many follow-ups) that they cannot do it in my city (I live in Pondicherry, India) and had to send it to New Delhi fo repair. Even in that they were not sure if it will get repaired. The following statement is from an email from Nokia Customer Care.
"They’ll try to solve the issue. If it is repairable, they’ll repair. Otherwise they’ll return your handset without repaired. If they returned your handset without repaired, they’ll charge rs.175 for transportation expenses"
When i asked them what if they cannot repair it, he asked me to be positive... So the problem here is in many levels
    1) Why did the phone glass crack from a fall of such short distance? The transmission of impact was from the body directly to the glass....(photo attached)
    2) Why is there not enough support from Nokia Lumia 800 yet from all the service centers?
    3) I am made to wait for more than a month with a cracked mobile phone......
    Attachments:
Photo of the 359289042195848 Lumia 800.jpg ‏866 KB

    1) Gorilla Glass is 'Glass' and it can break/crack with impact, it is extremely robust, not indistuctable .
2)All service centres cannot supply full support everywhere, i have to have my Nokia sent away for repair in the UK if I have an issue and can take up to 30 days, so you are not being singled out and this applies to other makes as well.
3)See 2 and also if you have insurance as stated, and as it would never be considered a warranty issue as it was misuse by the user, contact your insurer, the issue is with them, if you paid for insurance, they are the people to contact ?
    Good Luck

  • Nokia Lumia 800 is off and continually vibrating.

    Hey guys,
I was just using my nokia lumia 800 normally and then it suddenly shut off. I've tried everything to get it working, soft reset, hard reset, taking the sim out, letting the battery go flat then plugging it in, but nothing worked. This has happened once before but it turned back on after 5 mins. It has been 2 days now and it is stil continually vibrating. What should I do?

Hi JulseyB, Welcome to the Nokia forum!
It sounds like you have tried most things to get it back up and running again, I have a feeling it might be a hardware failure, I suggest that you take your device to your local Nokia Care point as soon as you can to get it looked at by a specialist.
    I hope this has helped!

I have a Nokia lumia 800 and my screen has gone green how much would it be to repair it?

  • Nokia Lumia 800 2nd. device dies!!

    Hi!
Today I'd like to let you know that this is the second time that my Nokia Lumia 800 dies.
Second tieme? Yes, it is second time!!! Only to a Nokia it could happen!!!
I'm really angry towards this formerly "prestigious" brand. They launch to market a Chinese product at an European price!!!!! That's it!!! A product that isn't able to be switched on longer than a week.
Two months ago my Nokia Lumia 800 died by first time. El Corte Inglés Nokia SAT (Madrid, Spain) sent it to repair; and supposedly, according Nokia technician words, Nokia SAT changed everything except for external case. Even all data in device were lost, I received it as new.
Let's say a pray for it, today Nokia brand passed away for me!!!!!

    Hi Ceroberts75!!
Thanks for your replay, but it isn’t necessary you stand Nokia brand in this way. Always, in all human organizations there are lot people that suck up and scrounge around companies to beg for a fistful of scraps and they’re happy with them!!!!
You, see? In the Spanish forum my post has been deleted! Is this freedom of speech? No, it’s censure!!!
If you spent almost 500 euro for a device that supposedly is stand by one prestigious company as Nokia was; wouldn’t you expect that once after repairing device, this dvice shouldn’t have the same problem? So, I would!
NOKIA isn’t the same as it was since they started to manufacturing in China.
If you look at Nokia financial results, losses reached 150 M. € the first trimester 2013. Why? It’s clear!!
1st Because their sales were much less than expected and their investments were much higher.
2nd Because their products aren’t supported by customers as long ago due to the hip of problems that new OS causes.
Finally, this rant is for advising those that they aren’t aware about this problem and this brand.
