  • Nokia Lumia 810 (T-Mobile) Experiencing Freezes Li...

I got a new Nokia Lumia 810 almost a month ago, and I seem to be experiencing the same sort of freezes as the 820 and 920 owners. The first freeze occurred almost immediately after setup, the second the next day, and since then the freezes vary between once a week randomly to several times within a half hour pretty much if I want it to, meaning I can virtually prompt freezes by browsing the web and/or pulling up the keyboard. This morning, for instance, I got it to freeze about once every two to three minutes at will (note, however, I can only seem to do this in the morning, for whatever reason).
I've updated my 810 to the latest firmware, uninstalled everything that can be uninstalled, removed all but my Microsoft Account, disabled Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, and location services, performed hard resets, used no memory cards, disabled "Find My Phone", etcetera, etcetera, to no real avail. Returning or exchanging my 810 is not an option because I didn't buy it from an official channel, and from what I gathered from the seller this particular unit is a new exchange (it came factory-sealed), so there's already precedent for that not guaranteeing a fix.
I'm not really mad about this, nor does this cause me to want to switch to another platform or anything like that (the grass is always greener, and my phone last round was an Android phone, so I know exactly how "green" it is). There is no "or else" for me so long as my 810 is otherwise functional (and it is), and I don't want to have to leave the WP platform again, so I sincerely hope there is a fix or at least an official acknowledgment coming soon.

Just to update this thread, about a month ago I sent my 810 to Nokia to repair. Nokia apparently reflashed the firmware, and after determining all was good, sent it back to me in about a week. Great turnaround, by the way.
Unfortunately, about a day after I got my phone back, it started freezing again. On the up side, it froze much less frequently than before (nowhere near once every few minutes), but after another freeze in the morning resulting in the alarm clock not going off, I figured I had enough dealing with this excellent but wholly unreliable phone. I was preparing to put it on eBay "as-is" and eating the loss before I stumbled on a forum thread... somewhere... suggesting that at least some of the freezing might be due to the Nokia charger. With a few other users in that thread reporting similar findings, and having nothing to lose myself, I plugged my phone into my computer to charge that night just to see if there was any truth to their findings.
Now, I'm not claiming any conclusions here, but after two weeks of charging the 810 via anything other than the Nokia charger it came with, i.e. a Samsung charger, a car charger, my computer, etc., I have so far experienced zero freezes. I don't know how. I don't know why. This could all be a huge coincidence, and my phone could freeze within the next few minutes just to punk me. It doesn't even make sense to me, since the freezing occurred both on and off the Nokia charger. But for now... no freezes!

  • WP8 Nokia Lumia 810 "Other" Storage!

I purchased two Nokia Lumia 810 WP8 phones on 12/31/2013. As of Monday, February 18, 2013 I can no longer install updates, take photos & videos; therefore playing games is also not an option since the phone cannot be updated because it continues to state it's "full" no available space. It does ask if I want to change the setting to save to my SD card which I've configured since day 1. I have a 16gb SD card with 9gb available which I cannot do anything with. I haven't even started paying for our phones and can't even use it.  I've deleted many apps leaving me with pretty much the basics, turned off my back up since I ead the back up is saved to the phone, deleted Internet history/browsing, messages, call logs, I have no music and 100 photos...no vidie....seriously, haven't had the phoneslong enough to load up on pics as I typically do. I have 1,600 photos in my iPhone with 6gb available. Has anyone taken this any higher...media, Facebook, Twitter etc?? This is totally unacceptable.

You simply cannot resist it can you?  No, you were not “merely stating my experience and reporting what I found”; for if you had done so, I would have no cause to respond the way I did.  You added, “Spending a few minutes researching it instead of going off on a rant is usually much more productive”; which implies the questioner does not have a problem, but merely a lack of understanding.  Moreover, there is no way that this could be construed, by anyone, as you “not saying others do not have an issue or that there could not be an issue, just that I am not seeing in my case.”  By stating that he could have avoided the complaint by doing some research, you are virtually stating that he only requires ‘educating’; and you definitely stated that his complaint was a “rant”.  I detect nothing that is overly declamatory, angry or vehement in his original question; though I’m sure he would have some justification for feeling frustrated.
Furthermore, you do not ‘merely state’ your position in reply to me; because you add the phrases, “hampered by any prejudice or negativism” and “someone feels the need to hijack a thread for his own personal baseless vindication”.  This clearly implies my judgment is hampered by baseless prejudice, does it not?  I have been a Nokia user, non-stop, for over 20 years; and a Microsoft one (and ardent supporter) for nearly as long.  There is no-one, I suggest, less prejudiced against either organisation than me; except those who are so ‘prejudiced’ as to see any justifiable criticism as ‘ranting’.
In any event, it seems like "this behaviour makes perfect sense" is not something with which even Microsoft’s Windows Phone Design Manager, Joe Belfiore, would agree.
    http://wmpoweruser.com/microsoft-acknowledges-promises-fixes-for-other-storage-issue/
The fact that he is recommending turning off Sky Drive Auto-upload indicates this is not a “baseless” problem; but one based on reasoned, ‘unprejudiced’ observation.
Like many others, it took me only a few days to recognise a looming problem; and we didn't have anyone pointing it out to us.  You seem to remain oblivious to it, even with literally hundreds of people pointing it out to you, and right up until Microsoft acknowledged it; though perhaps you feel Joe Belfiore has taken to ranting?

  • A few questions about the Nokia Lumia 810 for T-Mo...

I recently upgraded from the Nokia E73 Mode to the Nokia Lumia 810, my first ever "smart phone" and I'm already having problems which I hope can be clarified in this forum/thread.
    1. Supposedly this phone supports USB "drag & drop", but it doesn't seem to fully work for me. An example, with my previous phone I connected via USB cable and dragged computer files (Audio, Video, and Images) from my computer to the memory card of my phone. I can do this with this phone, but only somewhat. Once it's been "copied" to the SD card, I can't really edit the file from there. If I try renaming a music file for example, the window freezes saying "Program Not Responding". If I try to delete the file, it doesn't delete it either. Another big issue is once it's in my Nokia Lumia's SD card and I right-click it from my PC to edit an image with Photoshop, I can't do it. There's no "Open With..." feature. The same with audio files, I can't open with anything other than Windows Media Player, which I don't use. So does this phone really support "drag & drop" or is this just false advertising?
    2. How does one change the message tone? If a so-called "inferior" phone like the Nokia E73 Mode could do it, easily, why can't the superior Windows 8 smart phone do it? The same with an actual ringtone. How does one change it?
I actually do love this phone, but the whole lack of file manager and it's inability to "drag & drop" files for me disappoints.

    Welcome to the forum.
the drag m drop is working according to your post. Drag n drop doesn't include altering or editing files directly on the device.
coming from Symbian, I understand your dilemmas here.
best to take the file off the device by drag n drop from the device to the PC and then alter it and then drag b drop it back to your device.
as for the memory card, I have always found it faster to write directly to a card from the PC with an adapter rather then going through the device hardware.
with wp8, you can only use custom ring tones with what you drag into the ringtones folder when connected.
I would recommend changing the file genre to ringtone too
as for the messaging and email sounds currently you are limited to the sounds that available in the device. Not even the custom tones will show.
    hope that helps

  • Nokia Lumia 810 and 820 launch in India

Can you tell me when Nokia Lumia 810 and/or 820 will be launched in India. I am really in need to change my existing mobile and just waiting for these two.
    Thanks!
    Solved!

The 810 won't be launching in India as that model is exclusive to a US network. The 820 should be available early next year. You will need to contact Nokia India or Nokia retailers for more specific dates.

  • Camera Software Bug on Nokia Lumia 810

In mid-December 2013, following a recent Nokia software update, the camera on my Nokia Lumia 810 now no longer supports the ability to tap the screen in order to take photos or video.
Instead, I am forced to use the physical camera button which tends to cause slight movement of the phone and blurring of pictures, especially since the 810 lacks the anti-shake feature found in more advanced models.
I assume this is a software bug because I have searched for a setting that would allow me to re-enable the tap to take pictures capability and have found nothing of the kind.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can fix this? Will Nokia be releasing a software update to address this problem?
Would appreciate a response soon as one of the best things about this phone has been the camera and right now the camera experience is just awful because of this issue. Several photos from Christmas were ruined by it.
    Please help.
    Eric

Problem solved ... sort of. After a little further investigation, what I haved learned is this:
    (1) When first opening the camera mode on a Nokia Lumia 810 (running GDR2+Amber), the functionality for immediately taking a picture can only be accomplished by pressing the physical button on the handset. The ability to simply touch the screen (anywhere or even on an icon) to initiate a snapshot is no longer operational.
    (2) Added now appears to be the option to select a lenses, any one of several installed camera capable apps on my phone. Once an app is selected, it is then possible to touch the screen to snap a shot from within these apps.
So in summary, what was once a two step process to take a picture (i.e., 1. enter camera mode, 2. tap screen to take photo) is now a three step process involving an extra step in the middle to select a lense before tapping the screen and taking the picture.
I would prefer that the camera would continue to support the previous two step picture taking process, but at least now there does appear to be a way to take photos by tapping the screen in specifc apps, such as Smart Camera, which is important in order to avoid shaking the camera (which can happen when using the physical button).

  • Gnome-Bluetooth cannot receive files from Nokia Lumia 810

    To whom it may concern,
I opened a  bug report stating that I cannot receive files from my Nokia Lumia 810 using gnome-bluetooth. According to Nokia, it should be able to (and they claimed they tested it themselves during my phone call with them). The bug report is FS#33348. I'd appreciate if anyone could assist me on this problem.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
    See this KB:
KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones
Substitute, in the KB, the appropriate instructions for your other device in place of the KB section for the sending device. Do not skip the "Receive Using BT" step on the receiving BB...nothing will transfer if you do.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Nokia Lumia 810 just dead

I don't mean the battery died, I mean the phone died. I pulled it out of my pocket and unlocked it to look at time. I saw the time and pressed the lock button again it went black like it should but then I wanted to check again so when I pressed the lock button again it wouldn't come back.
I took it to tmobile n they were like "ive never seen this before, you need a new phone!" They apperently tried 3 different things to get it to work.
They just never tried taking out the battery so I did it... and it worked after. I then did a master reset cuz mabe it was a glitch... BUT now its the next day and it's doing the same thing. It wont turn on, reset, show lock screen... nothing.
I love this phone to death so ill keep trying with tge lumia 810 but if it continues I may be forced to go with htc

    Hi RickCharleston,
Are you still experiencing the issue? Instead of removing the battery and replacing it back, you can to press the down volume and power keys together until the phone vibrates and starts up.
If the software of your phone is up-to-date, performing a reset by going to Settings and then About is what I'd suggest if the issue happens again and is often. This reset deletes all the personal content on your phone so make sure to create a backup copy of your files by going to Settings and then Backup.
If above would not help, trying out another battery to further isolate the issue is what I can suggest.
If this was done and either the issue is with the battery or with the phone itself as you have identified, bringing the phone to a Nokia Care Point is the option then.

  • Nokia Lumia 925 Windows,Back and Search keys don't...

Today i bought NL925 and found that Windows,Back and Search keys don't glow. When i contacted customer care i was told to contact Nokia Care Center. has anybody got the same problem ?

    Hi, sasidhar_d.
Where did you purchase your phone? Did you try any troubleshooting on the phone? If yes, what are they? Have you tried restarting your phone by pressing and holding the Power and Volume down keys simultaneously for 10-15 seconds? If yes and it didn't work, it would be best to go and coordinate this immediately to your point of purchase since you just got the phone. Make sure to take the receipt with you.
By the way, which customer care did you contact? Keep us posted.

  • Nokia Lumia 710 - Extra Back Cover

Is extra back cover came with lumia 710 now
Moderator's Note: Post was moved to the appropriate board. Subject was edited.

Friends I finally get a solution for it.
Take spirit or nail polish remover, take a small container, sink your mobile back panel fully (you might need 2 small bottles of that) and keep that for half an hour .Then you will notice that a very thin plastic layer will get apart from that panel .It is similer like a plastic cover on our exercise book.
I give some snapshots  of that   . Hope this will be helpful.

  • Nokia lumia 928 sms call back number

My wife and I both upgraded to the Nokia Lumia 928. since we have, our text messages to each other are followed by "call back at" and then it gives the phone number of the person calling.  Called verizon tech support and they said that it is a feature that is sent from the "nokia" phone with your text message and that there is currently no way to dissable it from the sending "nokia" phone. Has anyone figured out how to get this to stop?

I concur with rayhipkiss. The only way I can call back the sender of a text message I've received is to tap on the name or number of the sender when viewing the text message. This is using an unbranded UK-CV Lumia 1020 and an operator branded Lumia 920.
I'd guess that that it is indeed something that your operator has added to their custom variant of the 928.
Do you see this "call back on" after messages sent to you by someone on other networks, and to they see it on messages that you send them?

  • White Nokia Lumia 920 Back Stained Blue from Phone...

    Hello everyone,
I bought my White Nokia Lumia 920 back in December and have really enjoyed the OS. I purchased a blue phone case on eBay for an inexpensive price and I recently removed it to learn that the case has stained the back of the phone light blue. My speculation is that at some point the back of the phone heated up and the paint possibly transferred. I tried to wipe it off with some household cleaner and similar products, but nothing has worked. It looks like the dye or paint is underneath the topical layer of the back the of the phone.
I also visited the AT&T store and they told me that there was nothing that they could do about it because it is a cosmetic defect. Their only suggestion was to contact whoever made the case, which I had already done.
Has anyone experienced this? How can I clean it? What can I do??
    Thanks!

that breaks the heart of the inner geek inside me to see that beautiful phone destroyed by the cover.... the advice in the link Farby has provided may work for you, otherwise, as the AT&T people suggested, i would be chasing up the people that made the case sold to you and demanding explanations and money....

Is it possible to extract som logs, to analyze what is going on?
I have had 2-3 restarts today, and the same yesterday.
I intendedly did not reset to default, as it is a long process and not a fun thing to do every second month - please if anyone can help to solve this problem, I really hope, because I would like to keep Windows Phone, but if this is not resolved, I will find something else (My previous Lumia 920 had the same problem).
I can live with the short battery life so far, but the restarting problem is a huge problem for me.
    Best Regards,
    Brian

The remaining DIY option for you is to try the Windows Phone Recovery Tool. That will completely wipe your phone and perform a clean install of the firmware, so you need to back up beforehand. Failing that, the next step would be submitting the handset to a Nokia Care facility to be checked / repaired. AFAIK there are no consumer tools available to extract logs from the handset.
