Nokia Lumia 822 ERROR: Unable to find a bootable option.

My phone was working perfectly, and then all of a sudden it began to perform slowly.
And so, I shut the phone off.
Now I am getting an error message of "Unable to find a bootable option. Press any key to shut down."
Why has this happened to my phone, and what is the remedy?

Unfortunately the phone is DOA.  The memory chip that stores the boot information and OS went bad.  I'd suggest you contact Nokia support over VZW to get a replacement. Phone us - Nokia - USA

    Hello
I'm in need of some help with my Nokia Lumia 620. It is 21 months old.  It was running on Lumia Denim (WindowsPhone8 (8.10.14219) according to the Hardware/Software Info on my account on windowsphone.com)
Today the screen suddenly went black when I tried to open the email app and started to display the message "Error:  Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shutdown"
I have tried removing the battery and replacing it after ten mins.  I still get the error.
I have tried removing the battery and sim card and replacing the battery after ten mins.  Still no joy.
I have tried to perform a HARD reset. This doesn't work as as soon as the power button vibrates and I press the volume down button the phone shuts down, the exclamation mark never appears.
Please could you point me in the right direction for solving this and getting my phone up and running

    Hi, srikanth93.
If you are pertaining to Lumia phones that has the Windows Phone 8.1 software, yes, those are supported by the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. You can verify this info here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/mobile/support/product/lumia520/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA14298.... If the recovery tool is installed on your computer & it's still not recognizing your phone, try to uninstall it and install again. By the way, have you tried coordinating this with a different Nokia Care Point for a second opinion?
Note that the link will direct you to the local support page of the Philippines. If you're from a different location, go here: http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/locations/.
Best of luck and welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions. ;-)

  • Error: Unable to find a bootable option. Press any...

My 1020 no longer wants to boot up and stops with the above error code. I have tried the lumia software recovery tool which after an hour and half of downloading software for the 1020 says , my phone is not supported. Oh how spiffing.. I have tried as mentioned in some of the support messages of uninstaling the software, restarting the pc, reinstalling the software, and after a further 90 minutes of downloading the software, nothing. i have tried doing the hard reset with the buttons but I cant get through it without the error coming up.
What I just want to know is, am I wasting my time with the software recovery tool? Is it location dependent? I am in the UK. The software recovery tool knows its a 1020. Should I just get the main board replaced? As far as I can see I have yet to see anybody sucessfully use the Lumia Software recovery tool.  Is my lumia 1020 toast?  I have tried disconnecting its battery for 10 minutes that didnt do anything either.
Any constructive help would be wonderful. Its only a year and a bit old. And no I didnt have insurance as I thought paying over £40 a month was enough.  By the way downloading 1.53gigs and waiting the best part of 2 hours to be told within seconds of trying to install the software that phone is not supported is frankly rather dissapointing. I had a few other choice words but we have to be polite do we not.
How come the software recovery tool knows everything about my phone goes off to get the software for it then says its not supported. Whats the point in that?
    Kenneth.

Yep I know about the warranty, which it was out of. All I did was replace the screen a few months ago. It was suggested I turn off the phone for 10 minutes, I was dubious about this but gave it a go any way. After the disappointing behavior of the 'recovery tool' and the lack of online help I would try any thing. I am even considering a main board transplant from a damaged phone. However I will give your idea of a discharged phone a go. Thank you.
Using the Lumia software recovery tool 5.0.0 seems to be a waste of time. After waiting up 2 two hours to download the software it says the phone  is not supported. A former flagship phone and its not supported, stunning..  Even completely draining the battery as suggested does nothing. Any other ideas for those whose wonderful Nokia experience has just crashed and burned?
By the way, the phone in its current state is a brick, I have nothing to lose by trying something.

  • Nokia 822 ERROR: Unable to find bootable option.

My 822 now says, "ERROR: Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shut down."
This occurred earlier today immediately upon installing a Verizon update. The phone worked perfectly before the update.
What is going on? I certainly am not going to accept responsibility for this failure, or replacing this phone.
Before you ask, the phone is in perfect condition otherwise. Never dropped. Never seen even a drop of water (or any other liquid).
One thing peculiar I did notice was that the update took over an hour to download, which seems like quite a long time considering data transfer rates.
    So, what can be done?
    To recap:
    1) My phone worked perfectly. It was in perfect condition.
    2) An update was installed (which Verizon recommended (and I'd go as far as to say forced))
    3) Now the phone is completely inoperable, only giving the error message listed above.
    Help please?

Hi Joel, the sim card has been removed and reinstalled multiple times with no effect. And yes, only the the original Verizon software was on the device. To be clear, the phone was attempting to install a Verizon-forced update when it died. I would rather have not had the update because the phone was working perfectly, but Verizon does not give the option to decline updates, only delay them. It should be noted that with the help of Verizon associate (Lovesa) the Nokia Software Recovery Tool was attempted, but even that did nothing.
I have now done at least 8 hours of research on this and it is obvious this is a widespread and known issue with the 822. There appears to be absolutely nothing that can be done to revive the phone at this point. After viewing literally hundreds of posts on the "unable to find bootable option" error no one has found a fix. This issue is well documented.
Why Verizon would force an update that ruins users phones is beyond me. And to take no responsibility is, in my view (and most likely the law's view), criminal. To be completely honest and forthright, I am so upset about this situation Verizon is now losing a 15 year loyal customer.

  • Nokia 822 ERROR: Unable to find boot option

My 822 says "Error: Unable to find bootable option. Press any key to shut down"
This happened last night after installing a Verizon update.  The phone worked prior to the update.  The phone quit working solely because of the update from Verizon.  What can be done to fix the phone?

        bjurstrs,
I am so sorry to hear that your device is no longer working after the update. Thanks for trying a factory reset. We should look into replacement options. Please private message us so we can review your account.

  • Nokia 625 Unable to find a bootable Boot Option

    Hi.
I have a Nokia 625 that will not boot. I only have this error message after the nokia logo :
ERROR : unable to find a bootable option. Press any key to shut down.
it appeared suddenly, while I was using the phone it restarted itself and since then refuse to boot.
I tried the Nokia for retail and the Lumia software recovery tool. Both the latest version.
Both does not detect the phone I first but detect it when using the "please connect only one phone" option.
then my phone IMEI and model number is correcty detected, and I then download an 1.4 GB package labelled Nokia Lumia 625 (RM-942) 3052.50000.1424.0003.
However after downloading and checking the package the install stops at 0% with the error message : Phone is not supported. The selected phone is not supported by lumia software recovery Tool.
I tried with several USB cable that both works fine with other devices.
I was also unable to hard reset it with the button.
I hope somebody will be able to provide a solution, since the phone is still in warranty, but warranty service was denied since the cristal is cracked at the bottom (it falled and was cracked month ago, and the LCD and the touch function were still functionning fine).

Thank for your reply. Too bad there are no DIY fix.
Do you have any idea what is the official warranty policy on broken cristal? Or perhaps somebody from MS or Nokia can clarify. The screen and touch are fully funcionnal, to me it seems harsh to deny warranty because the cristal is broken.
The phone was purchased in Mexico, and Nokia Mexico sent me back to the operator (telcel) for warranty, which was then denied, but since I didn´t saw anything about broken cristal on Nokia warranty policy, I don´t know if it´s a local service center policy, a case by case decision by the technician or an official policy.
Definitively dissapointed by Nokia here. Especially since my Note 2 that failed me at about the same time and couln´t be fixed, was replaced by a brand new Note 4 for USD $100. Quite the contrast.

Just got the same error message today.  My phone went to the black screen of death with the error message at the top.  Contacted Verizon via chat.  Was online for 1 hour and 15 minutes only to find out that nothing could be done which I could have told them based upon what I had read on this site.  Of course my phone is out of warranty since I have had it for 1 1/2 years and I am not eligible for an upgrade.  How convenient!  I was told to contact Nokia which I did and they gave me a download to try to reset everything.  It looked like it was working but after almost 3 hours it got to the end and nothing happened.  It just froze even though it said it was done.  I rebooted the phone and am back at the same black screen of death.  Guess I have to buy a used phone and then will have to reconsider whether or not to stay with Verizon going forward.  I have not had any issues with the phone in the past - keep it in an otter box, never dropped, never got wet, etc.  But all of a sudden it goes haywire like this that seems like either a hardware or software problem but something completely out of my control and all I get is sorry, you're out of warranty!

  • Nokia Lumia 822 - Application Issues

First – I apologize in advance for the length of this post – I just wanted to provide as much detail as I could to help others that might run into problems like I did.
I just got my Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon and had some issues that I believe were related to the phone being set up for English United Kingdom instead of English USA.
When the associate was done setting up my phone, I started using it and noticed immediately that the virtual keyboard was set for UK English (it displayed a co.uk button instead of a .com button).  I went into Settings > System > Keyboard and Settings > System > language+region and switched from English UK to English USA, and I thought everything would be fine.
Although phone functionality, texting, 4G, WiFi, and voice mail from the Verizon Wireless Phone application all worked, and I was able to download applications from the Windows App Store, I had the following issues:
My Verizon Mobile hangs at “Loading Resources…” screen
Voicemail application – got “SIM Error – Unable to read SIM Data” error message
Settings > System > Nokia account – got “Hardware Problem – Couldn’t Complete Operation” error message
Settings > System > Backup Assistant Plus – would not start and returned directly to Settings > System menu
Settings > System > extras+info – would not start and returned directly to Settings > System menu
I took the phone to my local Verizon Wireless store and they told me that it looked like a hardware problem and that I should return it for an exchange where I purchased the phone. I also called Verizon Tech Support, and the support assistant tried a couple of things before coming to the same conclusion – that the hardware was probably faulty and I should exchange my phone for a new one.
I decided to ensure that my SIM card was seated properly, so I popped off the back cover, removed the battery, then removed my SD Card and SIM Tray, then reinserted everything and put the back cover back on.  When the phone booted up, I noticed that the App Store had 6 updates for the apps that I was having trouble with.  I went into the App Store and downloaded the updates, and now encountered the following problems:
My Verizon Mobile now launched, but I got an error message that the app could not connect to the network.
Voicemail application – still got “SIM Error”
Settings > System > Nokia account – still got “Hardware Problem”
Settings > System > Backup Assistant Plus – application launched but I got an error message
Settings > System > extras+info – now worked, and displayed version information about my phone and OS version
Finally, I went into Settings > System > about and pressed the reset your phone button.  When it booted, I went through the initial setup screens and selected the default language (English USA).  I noticed that English UK was right above the default selection, and I believe the associate who did the setup in the store selected this instead of clicking on the default.  After selecting that I wanted to restore my data from the cloud, and waiting for about 5 minutes for this to complete, I was glad to see that all of the functionality now worked as expected.
So to make a long story short, before assuming you have a bad piece of hardware, try using Settings > System > about – reset your phone – just in case it was set up incorrectly at the store.

        netsirk,
Sorry to hear that your phone has become so unresponsive! Let's see if we can get that working again. Try removing the battery for 30 seconds and then replace battery and back and power on. Should that trouble still persist then the next step would be a factory reset. This will unfortunately erase the Lumia but at least will make it functional again. Here are the instructions if you need them: http://vz.to/1mq6kLO . Best of luck.

        Hi ARowald,
I understand your concerns regarding the SD card issues you have encountered. A review of my resources indicate that this issue has been escalated to our software team and the manufacturer will address these issues in a future software update (No ETA).

  • Help! Nokia Lumia 822 Amber Update Question

I just changed over to a Windows phone from Android. I purchased a Nokia Lumia 822 and installed the Amber Update yesterday.
However, I don't have any of the features from the update available on my phone. My OS version is 8.0.10327.77 and my Firmware revision number is 3045.0000.1328.1031.
Since my phone was "new" to me, I even tried resetting it to no avail.
Everytime I go to Settings>Phone Update, it says there are no updates.
Is there a way to reinstall the Amber Update?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

What is it that you are looking for in the features that you can not find?

How do I enable pop up blockers On my Nokia lumia 822 phone? I am unable to log into certain sites, please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You mean disable pop-up blockers? You can't. This has been raised several times. The browser simply takes a dislike to certain sites which it decides are not safe and nothing will persuade it otherwise. My UK bank being one. Asking for a desk top version of a site or using a different browser doesn't help.

  • Nokia lumia 822 - out of luck I guess

I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 when I renewed my contract. Early on the phone was randomly turning itself off during the day and at night. I do not have a land line at home and this is also my business phone. Random shut downs are not safe at night nor good for getting business calls.
In order to get it to come back on I have to either remove the battery or hold the power and volume button down for 20 seconds.
I stuck it out after reading in Verizon's forums that this was a common issue and might be fixed in a software patch release by Nokia/Microsoft.
After several patches and a recent (this week) reset to factory settings the problem has persisted. Just this week it has happened over 15 times causing missed calls.
    No software updates have helped.
The Verizon / Nokia forums still have numerous posts complaining of this issue but Verizon / Nokia does not seem to be aware of it or want to acknowledge it...
I had to reactivate my old Droid X on my line to keep a reliable phone powered on.
I did have a phone and email conversation with technical support who promised a solution and never got back to me. Now she will not respond to my emails.
I don't think another Nokia product will be purchased again.
    Ryan

this is the OS, not phone.  it is happening to other Nokia windows phones as well.  i've had this phone for approx 2 mths and have been told by verizon tech support that microsoft was supposed to issue the patch to correct this issue by the end of june.  ha!  i've made repeated calls to tech support, now they say patch delayed till end of july.  HA! again!!  sad part is, verizon has known this was an issue and continued to sell the phones.  i tried to return my phone within the 2 week period, but was told that the 2 weeks start on the day you ordered the phone, not received and activated it.  now i'm stuck for 2 years with a piece of crap phone.  no more windows phones for me.  i missed the 2 week mark by 24 hours.
