Nokia mail locks email server
When i assign an email adress to the nokia email app on my n97 mini i cannot download email messages from my computer. The reply i get is :mailserver locked out by another server.
How do i fix this problem?
I should explain a bit more about our setup.
We are utilizing a DMVPN between our remote cisco 2800 router. This SMTP traffic is riding the tunnel encapsulated within the GRE and Crypto. We also utilize a zone based firewall and IPS on the router. To get to the port 25 of our sever this traffic would have to ride the public internet and not be protected via the VPN. I am not prepared to follow that method based on security concerns. So currently we do not allow telnet over the public network and I am confident our main network firewall would block telnet access from outside of our private network.
So basically I am trying to do this over a private/protected infrastructure. Perhaps I am using the wrong method?

Hello, I have just got the Nokia 5230. I have put my gmail account on it so that I recieve emails straight to my phone which is great. Does anybody know if I can assign a password that needs to be typed in before I look at my email each time. I would like to do this to avoid somebody gaining access to my email if the phone gets stolen.
Also does anybody know of any free software that can convert .avi video files to a format compatable with the 5230?Same thing here, it does not happen all the time but randomly i get my inbox cleared and i dont know why.

ajayMy previous long-standing loyalty to Nokia took a blow when I bought my E72. Yes the device itself is good, but customers are FORCED to use Nokia's new push email service. While I'm sure it has benefits for many, there are plenty of reasons why one may not wish to use this service, and may prefer direct access to one's email accounts. I much prefer the email client of my previous Nokia phones, and really do not like this new service "a la Blackberry" for many reasons. But my point is that the new service should not be forced down customers throats, and SHOULD BE OPTIONAL WHILE RETAINING THE POSSIBILITY TO USE THE OLD-STYLE DIRECT ACCOUNT ACCESS. I wish Nokia would make the old email/message program downloadable for those who prefer that. I always felt Nokia phones gave me choice in that I could choose which email account to connect to (and was very happy with automatic retrieval which I had much more control over), but we are now forced to go through Nokia's server to receive our mail, so choice has been removed. I really hate such corporate behaviour.
I am currently using ProfiMail which is very good (not perfect though) but resent having had to pay for a descent email program when it should have been included in the price of my very expensive E72. -

as a new user of Nokia Email. I got great expectation from this service and software !
It worked great for 30 minutes unless. It asked my password and get stuck on it.
Going back on my laptop: I have also got the "Impossible to Log In Syndrom" on my computer.
So I went to bed and in the morning the Log In worked on the computer.
But my E61 is still stuck on the password. I let him try for quite a long time for nothing.
So, I have tried to re install the software.
Even cancelled my Nokia Email account and reinstall the software...
Now the Nokia is in configuration mode and is stuck trying to reach the server for 20 minutes... :-(
Is there any server log somewhere ?
Should I give up ?

Mail on my touch locks email account on Mail.app on Mac
When I use the mail application of the touch it locks up the account on my Mac in Mail.app. Is there a way to prevent this and still use the email on the touch?
This appeared to be caused by the fact that I keep all my email on the email server for at least 30 days. and It took time to process all of my email.

When trying to send a group of photos the e-mail requested my password. Apparently I gave it the wrong one. When I tried to resend, it doesn't ask for a password, just gives me this message, "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." How do I fix the problem? I tried I-Photo help, but it says "NOT available." I'm getting VERY frustrated since my I-Book G-4 NEVER did such "STUPID" things like ask for a password to send photos!!!
I tried sending single photo, but get the same message.
Also, my e-mail is NOT @bellsouth.net. It is @icloud.com I tried to change it but couldn't. How do I change it on this site. I tried to edit my info, but couldn't change the e-mail!!

Fetching and relaying mails to a third party email server
Hi All,
I have an existing email server sitting in the DMZ handling my company domain ([email protected]). I have installed OCS on the internal network. I want al my users to use OCS with the same email address they use on the existing email server ([email protected]).
For this purpose, the smtp outbound server on oracle email relays to the mail server sitting in the DMZ. This works fine.
However, I also want inbound emails coming to the external mail server to be delivered to Oracle mail server. I am using fetchmail for that. The fetchmail daemon does a pop on the external mail server and smtp to the oracle email server.
The problem is that is goes into a loop. When I get an inbound email on the external email server, it gets fetched (via fetchmail) and smtp to my OCS account. However, the OCS outbound SMTP server immediately relays it again to the external email server. And this results in a continuis loop.
I have searched the internet and this forum for a solution. There was some mention about sending the fetched emails from the external server to OCS mail via IMAP-Append rather than SMTP. However, I have no idea how to enable that on fetchmail (or if that works on OCS).
Has anyone faced a similar problem or has some soluiton to this issue.

They want OCS internally.
They want the external mail server to be the recognised MX host.
They want OCS to pull mail from the external server, or the mail to be pushed (if there is a guarantee of delivery).

I realised the problem was your incorrect use of the apostrophe 's', as in 'photo's using'.
I just could not make any sense of this sentence at all, until I realised that you meant to write, "What does it say behind "email photos using". What you employed was the possesive use of the apostrophe - a mistake that seems to have become endemic in english speaking nations during the last 10 years or so, brought on by the lack of understanding basic english grammar. This has come about because of sloppy teaching methods the world over - it's not really your fault.
It's quite simple: The apostrophe 's' should be used as the following examples show:
James's apple, the car's horn, the world's atmosphere. The one exception is 'its shape,' where there is no apostrophe showing posession because that construction has been used as an abbreviation to 'it is', as in 'it's'.
Plurals (more then one) NEVER have an apostrophe! E.g. CDs, eggs, biscuits, vehicles, UNLESS to show possesion - a CD's label, the biscuit's taste, a vehicle's colour.

Clearing email server in Maverick's Mail
How do I clear my email server in Mail with Maverick OS? I used to be able to just Command+I for Get info and a box would come up with all the mail that was on my Comcast server. I would select all and click delete. Now when I do Command+I it just dings.
Not sure about the select all and delete, but if you are trying to do a Get Info on an email server you can goto your Mailbox list (View Show Mailbox List), select the mailbox and right click to get at "Get Account Info"

Have you tried to delete the account from your Preferences and to Re-Enter it? That usually will help.
If not, try to use "Mail.app" as mail client in iPhoto and not iPhoto. Change the the stting in the Preferences > General tab to "Email photos using Mail". This is usually more robust thanthe setting "iPHoto". -
My email server is pop3, but Apple's Mail Settings Lookup is showing it as an IMAP. Any ideas how to get Apple showing the correct details?
Leave feedback for Apple at www.apple.com/feedback, or contact your email provider. It's the email providers that give that info to Apple, so both parties need to be updated.

I had the same question a while back and I was told that this is functioning as designed. Basically, this setting is not designed for the client to download email from the timeframe you specify. It just tells the client to start storing email for the timeframe you select. For example, you changed the "Remove older than" setting to "1 month", this only means that your device will now start storing email for 1 month. In order for a month's worth of email to appear on your device, you will need to wait about a month for that to happen so your email can accumulate on the device. Hope this helps. -

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these files to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Then try deleting it in Safe Mode.
