Nokia Mail powered by Yahoo

Will Nokia mail powered by Yahoo ever get updates?
Sadly is my first and only email account, but it looks like is missing every feature Yahoo is rolling out.
Thanks.

Is that issue fixed because I do not face it here with my Nokia Mail account and the Web interface. If it is not resolved, please, go through this tutorial how to create bug-reports and send a copy to Yahoo!

  • Nokia mail as real yahoo account

Good morning, I'd like to expose my problem.
Since Nokia started removing services from OVI, I felt a bit disappointed. I've been a Lumia usera for almost a year, and found myself forced to have a live/hotmail account to have all the features my N900 had with Ovi mail. Windows Phone is not for me, and my primary (and only) email account is on nokiamail/yahoo.
Now simply I want to know if Nokia mail powered by Yahoo will ever benefit of the features Yahoo has rolled out in the last few years: email alias, powerful calendar (now definiterly close on ovi), special search folders for photos and documents.
    Regars,
    a sad old Nokia user.

  • Nokia Mail and Nokia Chat powered by Yahoo will be...

    Hi all,
We will be discontinuing Nokia Mail and Nokia Chat on 9 March, 2015 and if you are using such service you will need to take action to save existing emails.  Beginning 9 March, 2015, you will no longer be able to sign in, access your existing emails, or send and receive new messages using your Nokia Mail or Nokia Chat address.  To saveexisting emails, you must copy your Nokia Mail to another email service or to your computer before 9 March, 2015.  You can save your Nokia Mail to an IMAP or POP-enabled webmail service or an app on your computer andcan find out more about how to do this here: http://nokiamail.com/bye
If you use your Nokia Mail or Nokia Chat address to sign in to Yahoo services such as Flickr, you will no longer be able to do so after March 9, 2015 and all your data and content will be deleted. If you’re a Flickr user, follow this link to move your photos to a new Flickr account in order to prevent losing your photos: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/flickr/SLN7315.html?impressions=true
If you have been using Nokia Mail as your contact email for other apps or services, we advise you to update your profile on these services to use an alternative email address.  We recommend that you let your friends and family know about your new email address as well.
We will let you know of any further guidance on how you can save your existing messages to another service, or an app on your device or computer.
    Thank you,
Nokia Mail and Nokia Chat Team

IMAP mail accounts have a remote view of the emails on the server.
You 'subscribe' to see the contents of server folders.
Only the headers are downloaded and when you select an email the folder is copied to a temp cache to facilitate quicker access to that folder.
These emails are not stored on your computer.
If you choose to 'synchronize' folders, then a copy of the folder is downloaded to your thunderbird Profile folder.
This means you can view those emails when in offline mode. These emails are on your computer, BUT as these folders are set to synchronize, it means that folder can get updated by the server, if emails are removed off the server and you synch, you will see all of those emails disappear from Thunderbird to synch and match the server.
So the best method is to synchronize the folder to get emails onto your computer, then go into 'offline' mode so that Thunderbird cannot connect with server.
Then move those emails into suitable folders in Local Folders.
The 'Local Folder' folders will be stored on your computer and will not be efected by the IMAP mail account even when you later select to remove it.
You can use this addon to create a backup of Local Folder folders and emails and also synchronised folders in offline mode.
    * https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html
Right click on folder in Local Folders (or a synchronized folder in offline mode)
    select 'Importexporttool'
then you have a selection of methods available.

  • Language on Ovi Mail (powered by Yahoo) web versio...

I am living in Germany but my German is extremely basic.
On my Nokia Account page I have set the following:
    Language: English (US)
    Location: Germany
While I'm on Nokia/Ovi pages the language is English, but on the e-mail pages I get German and I can't understand pretty much anything apart from clicking on the messages.
I tried to change the location to other European countries (Spain, Greece etc) while leaving the language setting as English (US), and every time the e-mail pages would be presented in the new language.
Is it so difficult to give us the e-mail pages in the language we have selected as our desired language on our Nokia Account page?

  • Nokia Mail By Yahoo Unavailable

Is anybody that uses the ovi mail service unable to access their email accounts. I am getting an error message on the website and my Lumia 920 is unable to retrieve or send email also.
Anybody with info would be much appreciated.

See attached images of error. It appears the mail server successfully logs in for a split second but then it reroutes instantly to the yahoo outage page.

  • Ovi mail migrated to yahoo ... unable to read emai...

Anyone else experiencing this problem in firefox 4 and ie8 ? I can log into the ovi mail account which is now powered by yahoo but i cant seem to open up the emails although they are being recieved and the inbox is updated i just cant access them.

Hey even I was facing the same issue. Was really **bleep** untill i Found out this post :
Do you click on them to open them in the web UI, and a tab appears but the contents of the tab are blank?  That is a known issue seen by some users.
Yahoo is deploying a fix for it, which should be rolled out to all users in about a week.  Before that, here are some workarounds:
    - Go to http://m.yahoo.com (their mobile site) to read your mail.  That seems to work.
    - Read your email on a PC mail client connected through POP (see settings here http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/faq/FA134976_en_US)
    - Read your email on your phone.
    - Disconnect from Facebook, if connected to it.  That fixes it for some, but not all, users.  Do that with these steps:
        * Go to mail.ovi.com and login
        * Now browse to pulse.yahoo.com to get to Yahoo Pulse (Yahoo’s social stuff)
        * Click on Settings (top right) and then "Manage my linked accounts"
        * See what shows up there. Does it show that Facebook is still linked? If so, please unlink it.
        * Then log out & back in again and see if things work OK.
Also go to ur facebook account and under privacy tab> applications permissions> remove yahoo.
even though u havent linked your ovi and facebook, still its good if u try and find out the remedy to this annoying issue...

  • Nokia mail issues

*I copy this here as this is the correct forum for such a topic
First thing was I have been watching my phone memory going low - since I install applications only in memory card that seemed a bit strange. The only application receiving data was nokia mail so I think this could be the source of the problem.
*I 've read the comments of Nokia about this issue - makes the whole mail experience kinda problematic.
Q1: why am I unable to delete e-mails? It asks whether to delete from the phone or the server too, but neither command works! Bug?
Q2: Why is yahoo (automatically) getting IMAP settings and wrong security/ports settings? I had to manually set it up with POP settings plus SSL and correct ports, to make it work.
Q3:How can I have all my e-mail accounts shown in front screen with new mails in brackets? It showed only the hotmail inbox activity.Bug?
I could live with the rest but the memory thing is tough for me.I had gone to 30MB free space with no major installations (ovi maps and ngage only) and starting from 75MB (since I did a format).Plus I couldnt delete the mails! Thanks.
PS - handset is n85 with latest firmware (30.179).

    Great news....
and I am posting this all around.
This morning Sep12 I woke up and I was checking my email on the iPad and I noticed over 50msg... there were just a few last night...  Then I saw... OVI 50msg!  What?
I got to it and there it was... OVI mail working.
I re-edited my ipad config because it was setup for POP and I tried to change it to IMAP... I messed up, but realized... I could not simply edit on the iPad, so I deleted the email account and re-created using IMAP. It worked!!!
I have the OVI mail now configured on both my iPad and on my new Samsung S4 mini.
Here is what I am using:
    income
    imap.mail.ovi.com
    SSL
    993
    outcome
    smtp.mail.ovi.com
    SSL
    465
Please share.  It looks like it´s back!!!
    POP also works!

  • How to use Nokia mail for exchange

How to use Nokia mail for exchange for N82 so that it can push mails for gmail, yahoo.

It appears that what you are looking to do is from another product at Nokia called Nokia Messaging.  Go to mail.nokia.com and setup a messaging account and add the gmail and yahoo accounts there.  Then SMS send the configuration program to your device.  Install it.  it will add all the accounts to your device on install and will send messages to your device.  So at this point you will have Mail for Exchange for you corporate mail and Nokia Messaging for you personal mail ( gmail and yahoo).

  • My OVI Mail locked by Yahoo :@

    Hi,
I have been using an OVI mail for my small business since a year or so with small but bearable problems, My business is not that old that's why I defined a very recent Date of Birth when signing up for that account. But when OVI mail got powered by Yahoo, they locked my account assuming that it's a child's account. I can access it from Outlook though but cannot from the web. Below is the text from Yahoo:
"Please get your mom or dad!
Note for Parents and Legal Guardians:This account is locked due to the birth date that was entered at registration or the age given on one of the account's Public Profiles.
In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, Yahoo! must recognize all accounts with a birth date that indicates the user is a child, and we must receive parental consent before allowing such accounts to be opened and used. This account was not created with parental consent.
To create a new Yahoo! ID for your child, we need to collect certain personal information about him or her. We require your consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of this information. You can give this consent by setting up a Yahoo! Family Account.
If you're setting up a Family Account for the first time, we'll need a major credit card for age verification. You will not be charged!
If you are (MY EMAIL [email protected]'s parent, and would like to help your child create a new Yahoo! ID:
Create a Family Account for your child and add yourself as the parent.
Please read our Yahoo! Privacy Policy to learn more about how we treat information about your child, and our Online Safety Tips for keeping your child safe.
Hi (MY EMAIL)@ovi.com,You need your parent or guardian's permission to use Yahoo!. Please find your mom or dad and show them this screen.
    Parents not there right now?
Check out the cool stuff at Yahoo! Kids.
If you're an adult, you or someone in your family may have used a child's birth date when signing up for Yahoo!. For security reasons, it is Yahoo!'s policy not to alter the birth date listed in our users' account information. If you would like to create a new account with the correct birth date, please feel free to do so."
Can someone kindly explain me W.T.F is that? Hundreds of my clients have this Email address and I don't wanna create a new ID. I badly need help. Is creating a new ID the only option? If so, then I have to say goodbye to OVI and Yahoo mail.

@mysterious1 - OK, thanks for the update.  I'm going to ask around to see if we can fix this going forward, for you and others.  One other question--was 1/1/2000 the exact date of birth you chose when you setup the account?  Partially, I'm just curious.
Just FYI - New Ovi accounts can't be created with a date of birth indicating you are < 13 years old. But it seems like we could handle existing accounts with such a date of birth better.

  • Mail 3.6 Checking Yahoo Mail - Can I Add Junk E-Mail To My Yahoo Spam List?

    Evening all.
I use Mail 3.6 to check all my e-mail accounts, including Yahoo mail. When I receive spam e-mail to my Yahoo account, I can add it to my spam list, but only for Mac mail and not my Yahoo spam list. Obviously the beauty of the Yahoo list is that I don't ever see spam from that address ever again (I have it set to delete immediately). Can I do this through Mail?
    Many thanks,
    J

Necessity being the Mother of invention, I built a crude work-around and fixed half of the problem. I'd still be interested to hear if any of you have 'solved' the other half.
First half fix: On the mail.yahoo.com site, go to the Sent folders and select all of the messages there. Then, in the header, click on the "Move..." button and then select the "Inbox" as the destination. (N.B. This can not be undone; You can move messages from the Inbox to other folders, but not to your Sent folder. Go figure.) The next time you synch (or "Get Mail") from the Mac's Mail app, these "sent" messages will appear in your Inbox. Sort the Inbox by sender and move the messages sent by you to your "Sent" mailbox folder.
Now you've got a complete history of emails, both sent and received, on your Mac.
Second problem not fixed: Messages sent from the Mail app do not appear in the "Sent" folder on mail.yahoo website. So while your Inbox is synchronized between your Mac and your yahoo! account, your Sent items are not.
I was hoping that synching my Mac Mail with .Mac would allow me to see my sent messages remotely, from any internet browser. But at first blush, that dog don't hunt.
Any advice - short of a wholesale move to my @mac.com email - would be appreciated greatly. Even if the advice is "give up the ghost; can't be done; give up the yahoo email"!
    Cheers.
    -David

  • I can't recieve or send e-mails from my yahoo account in mail. Also, what should I do to repair the screen of my iPad 2 if I don't have any Apple warranty?

For some unknown reason, I have been having issues when sending and recieving e-mails from my Yahoo account in mail on my iPad, but can use mail just fine on my iPhone. Why is this, and how do I fix it?
I accidentally dropped my iPad 2 on Monday, it hit my foot, and the screen cracked. I recieved this iPad some time in August 2011, and no longer have any sort of warrany on it. Should I take it in to Apple and get a replacement, or have a third party fix it? And if so, how much would it cost, and where should I go?

I am glad we were able to get your email working again. Please reach out anytime you need us.
    Thanks,

  • Nokia Mail For Exchange on Asha 300 doesn't work w...

I'm hoping someone from Nokia might see this and get your developers to make a tweak to the Nokia Mail For Exchange app for Asha 300 (a S40 phone).
The Microsoft Outlook/Office 365 hosted/cloud-based e-mail service uses usernames in the format [email protected]
Unfortunately the Nokia Mail For Exchange app automatically truncates the Username so as soon as you tap out of the field it becomes just "jane.smith". As a result it fails validation.
This is probably a one line code change which makes perfect sense for users connecting to other variants of Microsoft Exchange, but for those of us on Microsoft's hosted offering it's stopping us getting in.
    Thanks!
