Nokia map app missing

I have a problem that after i reset my phone to factory setting i found that the nokia map app is missing i try to solve the problem but i could not solve please someone try to resolve this problem

As Asha 305 does not have embedded GPS positioning would rely upon network cell tower triangulation which is pretty ineffectual and for this reason Nokia Maps may have been excluded from later software updates.

  • Nokia Maps Icon Missing?

    Good day everyone.
i have just bought this new Nokia Asha 303 phone and i thought the software installed in the phone is incomplete because i cant seem to find the shortcut for nokia maps. I installed the nokia suite in my pc and check  for software updates and it is up to date. I already tried factory reset, but nothing, still the same. Is it possible to restore the missing icon? thanks for any help.
    sorry for bad english

Right after having my new phone I started exploring its possibilities testing applications from Ovi store. At some point I got some problems with an application so I decided it would be a good idea to try a reset... I first try with an app settings reset to defaults (from the s40 Configuration menu, not the Restoring Factory Defaults menu)... right after that I realized I didn't have Nokia Maps icon in any of the lists of installed applications, nor I could found any loader in both file units, phone and memory card, for it... I was not 100% sure the icon vanished after settings reset, but I supposed it, so I thought something went definitely wrong and I decided to try reset to factory defaults as I just started testing the phone so I hadn't any information saved there to lose... what I could not expect it's that a factory reset will not yield the software at the same very state as what I received short time before. In addition to not getting back the Nokia Maps icon, I noticed another difference in the system, I have an Introduction icon in the list of default applications, that triggers a video playback showing the phone basics... now when I push that button, the playback starts but only for the audio, and instead of the video I show a black screen with a NOKIA logo in the center, the same very screen I see when boot up the phone. I've seen https://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/nokia-maps-suite/bugreport/46316/nokia-map-icon-missing-after-inst... this problem is not happening only on s40 OS phones, but at least on Symbian^3 phones they had a stand alone installer to install back the app http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/ovi-maps-for-mobile-v3-08 Something like this seems what s40 OS phone users like me are needing.

  • Asha 305 - Nokia Maps app deleted

Hi i update my asha 305 v5.92 two months ago and i lose my nokia maps application, please help me reinstall
Moderator's note: We have provided a subject-related title to help other forum users easily view and respond to this post.

You seem to be making duplicate posts concerning this issue. It's not that simple as Nokia have been removing Nokia Maps application from devices without integral GPS chip as relying solely upon network triangulation for positioning is just too inaccurate, this may explain why it is now missing.

  • Maps app missing

Somehow, my Maps app is missing on my home screen. It only appears when I double tap the home button, and then it appears at bottom of screen with all the recently opened apps. Any way I can get it back on the home screen where it was when I bought the phone? I have the iPhone 4.

Thank you. I very carefully checked all screens and it def was gone. Only appeared when I double tapped home button to shoe recently opened apps. But I guess it doesn't matter to question it. Your instruction solved the issue. Thanks again!

  • Nokia E7 apps missing after replacement

    Hi all.
I was generally a bit ticked-off with my E7, particularly because its USB port had gone extremely dodgy.  Thankfully this was sorted by my service provider by simply swapping the handset.  The new one, however, has come with a completely different set of software loaded.  Most of which is fine, but the Location App, with GPS data has dissappeared, and it's one of the items I used a lot.
I've looked at other GPS apps, but they don't have the functionality of the "location" app, mainly the ability to set a destination (via longitude and lattitude) and have it direct you there.  This app has been on Nokia phones for years and years, and yet suddlenly this phone doesn't have it.  Most odd.
Is it available for download from anywhere?  I've looked for it on OVI for quite some time, but to no avail.
    Thanks in advance.

Must be missing something here in your post, as using Ovi Maps v3.06 just enter co-ordinates in "Search"
For anyone now wanting to use Symbian LeGPSData application set device date to 21/01/11 to install as Symbian certificate has now expired; remember to alter date back to correct one afterwards!

  • Map icon missing in Nokia Asha 311.

I have find a problem in my nokia asha 311 phone. Problem is that map not shown in my device. Please help me.

  • Nokia Maps is a giant step backwards

My relevant background - I live in Los Angeles, owned an HTC HD7S for more than a year and just recently got a Lumia 920. I like everything about my new 920 except vibration noise, and this horrid Nokia Maps app which is forced on us...
    Problems with Nokia Maps:
Lack of integration with the rest of the operating system.
Nokia maps is an island to itself. I click an address from a people hub contact, it opens Windows Phone Maps, not Nokia Maps. I click an address from a Bing search which has a dedicated hardware button, and it opens Windows Phone Maps, not Nokia Maps. I click an address in an email, you guessed it, it opens Windows Phone maps.
Searching in Nokia Maps has terrible results
I tried 3 searches today during the course of my day using Nokia Maps. Si Laa is a Thai restaurant I wanted to try a few miles from my house with an obviously unique name. The results I get are for Joyce Cafe, something in Germany and Slovenia. Next I try UPS in hopes it will find the company owned UPS Customer Center a quarter mile from my house. It doesn't find it at all, but does find alot of ups stores that are further away. Nokia Maps choked on another restaurant in Beverly Hills I tried to find. My wife's iPhone 4s had no problems with any of these.
Local surface street traffic info is missing
On the Lumia 920, I don't get any surface street traffic info. I do see traffic info for highways and freeways. I used to get local surface street traffic on my old HD7S Windows Map. Windows Phone Maps shows some sporadic street traffic data but is not quite right either. I called Nokia about it, the level 1 techie tells me I'm supposed to have local street traffic but has no further explanation and has escalated to level 2...
Nokia removed the Windows Phone Maps.
As shown in the first point above, Windows maps is still clearly on the phone, but Nokia removed the tile for it from the app list. There doesn't seem to be a way to directly open Windows maps. This would be fine except that Nokia maps, which is supposed to be the replacement, is worse than Windows Phone maps in so many ways.
There isn't a single reason to use Nokia Maps over Windows Phone Maps.
The only reason I use it is because Nokia has seen fit to make Windows Phone Maps hard to start by removing it from the apps list.
Nokia should leave both map apps available and in the apps list.
If Nokia Maps is the superior product, people will use it. Right now I'd say Windows Phone maps is superior in every way and that's a shame for Nokia who is supposed to be a mapping leader...

Hi - Do you have latest versions? As mine works fine see below.

I can select a contacts address, see it on the map, then request directions and then swith to drive each step with one tap of an option or icon

I needed to find a vet the other day. Did a seaarch and then onto drive easily. Same works using Nokia City Lens. select a place and then walk or drive.

Nokia maps and drive share same data set  and can be used in offline mode

i downloaded the free nokia maps app and i cant use it as i used to ... last time i was able to use it was 3 months ago. i am used to using it as a GPS but since the last update i cant now .... my Nokia is N97 mini and i am verry fond of it , if any other have the same problem please do share on how to fix it )

    Hi IvanTsintsev,
Thanks for your post and welcome to Nokia Discussions!
Please perform a hard reset and software update with Nokia Suite to resolve this issue.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and make a back up via Tools > Back up. Don't tick the Settings box.
Disconnect your phone from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# and default security code 12345, unless you've changed this code yourself. When the phone has rebooted, reconnect to Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow icon where you can update the phone's software. If no update is available, please reinstall the current software. This option will be displayed in blue.
When the phone has been updated, restore the back up via Tools > Restore and this should fix the issue. If you're still can't use maps, try uninstalling and reinstalling the maps through Nokia Suite.
Let me know how you get on!

Hi! I was wondering if there is/are any difference (features, performance, and eetc.) between the Nokia Maps app installed on lower-end Lumia devices, say the 610, and high-end Lumia devices, say the 800?

  • Nokia Maps quits at the 40% mark

    Hi,
I have a N79 and the Nokia Maps app doesn't work.
At first, it woudn't launch at all. After I downloaded the latest version of Nokia Maps from the nokia site, it would only show the splash screen, but it would quit again at the 40% mark.
I've also installed Google Maps, and that won't launch at all.
    Things I've already done:
    * updated firmware
    * installed latest nokia maps software
    * downloading maps using nokia map loader.
    * deleted CITIES folder on microSDCard (someone adviced me)
On an other forum someone adviced me to format the microSDCard. Though it should work even withouth the card in it.
    Solved!

    Hi ivee
Are you running v11.049 or  v20.175, check by keying in *#0000# on standby screen? If answer is the former then this is a known issue so don't waste your time here. Normally application quitting at this point is due to disparity between Maps version and downloaded maps, which you would seem to have covered already.

  • 2700 c map is missing after updated frimware/ conn...

Connected to OVI suite and updated my 2700 firmware and after I lost the nokia map icon.
    nokia maps s missing
looked in all other folders it is not available help me guys
    version 7.XXX to 9.XXXX

It seems other users of devices without inbuilt GPS have complained of loss of Nokia Maps upon upgrading firmware on this forum unfortunately; I know that Nokia have stated that use of Bluetooth GPS receiver is no longer officially supported since OVI Maps v3.03 although it may still function.
It is almost as if devices which can't utilise Assisted GPS feature are being quietly removed from the system.

  • No 3D buildings in nokia maps 3.0

iv downloaded the entire australia maps on my mem card, and using ovi maps 3 on my phone, but i cant see any 3D buildings. is this because its not included in the maps from maps loader. i also went online to see if this was the case and still no 3D buildings wen i switch to 3D mode. any clues?
If iv helped in anyway, hit the kudos button

As my colleague explained, what used to be a single application "Nokia Maps" in some of our earlier products is now split into two separate apps:
Nokia Maps is centred around walk navigation and helping you to find places of interest.
Nokia Drive is centred around use as an in-care navigation tool.
Satellite mode has always been a service that downloads the individual map data automatically from the internet when needed because the satellite data is too large to have an entire country map downloaded to a phone. It is therefore not practical for in-car user when you are travelling fast and data has to be repeatedly downloaded as you move from one map cell to another over great distances, it is also potentially expensive in terms of data charges which would be a turn-off for most users Additionally, for safety reasons the app being used whilst driving needs to be clear and simple in order that your attention is not needlessly distracted from the road ahead.
As already mentioned, the Nokia Maps app is where your find the satellite view, where data consumption considerations are less vital because (1) you have less need to view very large areas, and (2) youare also likely to have the option of using a wireless network and thus avoiding data charges altogether, and where you can focus on the extra detail offered by satellite imagery without endangering your personal safety.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the iOS 6 Maps App is missing the area code for many places it has listed?

If I try to look up a local business on the Maps App it drops a pin on all of the locations matching my search parameters. However, when I get details about a dropped pin, the phone number is usually missing the area code! For example, if the phone number is +1 (123) 555-5555 it would show up as +1 (555) 555-5. This makes it impossible to call directly from the maps app or to copy and paste infront of a manually entered area code (because of the '+1'). Has anyone else noticed this?

Have you checked to make sure that your region settings are correct?
    Settings>General>International>Region Format

  • Already miss YouTube and a good map app., Already miss YouTube and a good map app.

I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 6 yesterday.  I had watched the WWCD in June, and have waited with eager anticipation for the release of the new IOS.  Of course, I knew that the Siri function was not going to be available on the iPad 2, and I new the Google maps app would be replace with the new Apple maps.  I was not concerned, because Apple has NEVER been known for offering a lesser product to its loyal customer base.
However, within the first 24 hours after the upgrade, I have been diappointed and wish I had stayed with IOS 5.  First of all, there was a promise of over 200 new features in the new IOS but all I got was a new clock app.  I realize that the iCloud capabilities have been improved also, but that was not a big concern for me.  Second, the new Apple Maps app is an archaic step backwards.  It has been over a decade since I saw a mapping service that was so devoid of features.  The cartoonish 3-D is not a benefit.  The lack of POI's, and the detailed data is woefully missing.  I am shocked that Apple would release something that was not better than what we had to begin with.  I feel certain that time will permit it to catch up to the Google quality, but what do we do in the mean time?  I guess we pray that Google will quickly design an IOS 6 compatible app.
Lastly, I just discovered that YouTube is no longer available on the iPad.  Why?  Again, Apple has not offered a "better" solution, they simply took away a widely used app.  Yes, there are work arounds, but key features of the app, like Airplay, are no longer avaible.  Going to YouTube in the browser does not permit Airplay (I tried it).  Yes, Google has already released an app for the iPhone, but they have not for the iPad.  The iPhone app works on the iPad, but it too lacks the features of a full iPad app.
I do not know if Apple representatives ever read any of these community comments.  If so, I would urge Apple to maintain the course set by Jobs.  While he was at the helm, new products or OS releases were not infererior to the previous.  I know that Cook will also do a great job.  However, do not permit the desire to release something "new," cause you throw care to the wind and release products that are not worthy of the Apple name.

You are correct about Steve's desire to eliminate Google.  However, the philosophy has been to offer a "Better" product and/or user experience as the result of an upgrade.  Yet, this upgrade fall short of a "better" experience on the iPad 2.  It stripped two vital apps and adding nothing to replace one (i.e., YouTube), and grossly inferior one on the other (i.e., Maps).  Hardly any of the new features of IOS 6 are available on the iPad 2.  This update should have been restricted from the iPad 2.  The Apple Maps app should have not made this release at all.  They should have waited until it at least was comparable to Google.  The Apple Maps is useless for me, but I use Google maps always.  This is my first diappointment with Apple.  However, I feel certain that Maps will eventually be improved.
