Nokia Maps (Navteq) from N96 to N97

Hi,
Is it possible to move Nokia Maps (Navteq) from N96 to N97 and how?

Map Loader tells me I'm using
Map Loader 3.0.28.0
Nokia N97 (Map version 0.1.22.103)
And the phone tells me I'm using
Maps 3.03(54) (from Betalabs).
There is no Services tab any more, and the Map Loader Help only tells me I can download Maps and Voices. The Help doesn't mention Services.
I got my 3 year Western Europe licence about 18 months ago, for my N95. As soon as I plugged my old sim into the N97, and ran Maps (2.0 at the time) it went off to the internet and "verified" the licence info.
At that time the Map Loader app had a brown interface, and didn't change for a long time. The Services tab gave a priced list of all the extras, and you could buy them through the app. It also explained that you had the choice of whether to link your license to the sim or the phone. I remember thinking it through at the time, and deciding to link it to the sim, because I still have my N95, and sometimes switch the sim into that phone. Since Ovi has taken over the app, all that choice and explanation has gone (at least for me).
Maybe I'm not seeing the Services tab because I'm using the Betalabs version  3.03(54)?
Edit:-
By the way, I used to get the Services tab when I linked to my N95 running Maps 2.0, but I don't remember the version of Map Loader I used at the time.

  • Nokia Maps 3.0 install error (N97)

I get this error on my N97 and follow the instructions but cannot progress any further, and cannot load maps.  I have deleted the files from my phone.  I have uninstalled both Maps 3.0 and the Map Loader.  Nothing works, arghhhh!

I also noticed this after I update my phone maps application to 3.0. After updating when I tried using map loader it gave me exactly same error but as the map application updater has already installed new maps for my location I am least bothered about this.

  • N96 Nokia Maps UK

    Hi,
Will be going to London soon and would like to use the Nokia Maps on my N96.  Have been trying to get this thing to work locally but nothing!!!
Now, was reading some threads read something about a license!!  As I was going through the settings of the Nokia Maps came across those licenses, but I have to buy them!!  Personally I will buy the 30day one as it is the most convenient for me at the moment.
The thing is that with the License, what will I be able to do?  I would like to have the 'Walk' navigation option too!!
Also, was thinking of buying a sim-card from one of UKs mobile service providers as the charges (if any) would be less expensive than using my local one as they would charge you way too much for just simple roaming per 1MB!!
Any suggestions and ideas of which company should I go with and what the licenses really do?

If you purchase the walk licence then you only get walking directions. Walking directions do not come with voice direction and tend to go a little funny should you try to use it when you are driving. You will get  "too fast" error and you may be directed along foot paths. Drive licences do include the walking function as well.
Be careful before you purchase the licence as licences are linked to the SIM card when first bought. If you purchase with the old SIM and then switch SIM's then it will stop working until you contact Nokia Care to switch it to the new SIM. If you intend using a local SIM in London then I suggest purchasing the licence after you get that SIM.

  • Map not updated but Nokia maps say me it is update...

Compared with map of maps.nokia.com I have map of Argentina out of date, but when I from Nokia Maps 3.06 (at a N97 mini) select update, it say all my maps are up-to-date

    @leo3487
If whilst in Ovi Maps application you tap on "?" middle of row > About Maps > Versions > Map version - is it 0.2.44.110?
Is your N97 Mini running Ovi Maps v3.06_11wk23_b05 from here:http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/ ovi_maps_installer_3.06_11wk23_b05_s60_5...
If you want to give me a specific location or co-ordinate I'll post a screenshot.

  • Uninstall Nokia Map 2

    Hi
How to remove Nokia Map V2 from my E90 and how to reinstal Nokia Map V 1...any help would be appriciated..
Nokia Map V2 is the worst of the application I have ever seen from anyone,...I am hard nokia fan and have never used anyother phone in last 15 years...but it seems the time has come to move on seeing the way Nokiahas designed Map 2....Aaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

What is your specific issue with Maps 2? The main bugbear for some people is that Maps 2 uses almost entirely Navteq map data, whereas data was more evenly spread between Navteq and Teleatlas under Maps 1.2. A small number of countries have seen map data drop in quality since the switch from 1.2 to 2.
In general, Maps 2 functions much better, searches easier and has considerably better GPS signal handling properties than its predecessor.
If you really want to get back to 1.2, back up your personal data (contacts, messages etc.) with PC Suite then reformat the phone with the code *#7370#. Provided that your phone's current firmware was prebundled with Maps 1.2, you'll revert back. However, if you have a recent version of phone firmware which comes with 2.0 then there is no way to get back.

  • Nokia Maps 2.0 don't show maps on N95

Installed the latest firmware on the N95 (V21.0.016 14-02-08 RM-159 A5.01), formatted the memory card, installed Nokia Maps 2.0 (v2.0wk21b02), started it (in order for MapLoader to work properly), installed MapLoader 1.3.8, installed the swiss and german maps via MapLoader (the files are definitively in the 'cities' directory on the memory card), rebooted the phone then started the maps application again. The GPS works find but no map is displayed (even though I'm in Switzerland, everything is just green background, no matter what kind of view (satellite, hybrid, 3d, normal) I choose.
    What's wrong? Bad quality assurance?

I got it working!!! I sure hope this helps you all too!!!!
Firstly, make sure you go to the app. manager on your phone (usually found in the applications folder) and delete the nokia maps 2 from there.
    Also reformat your memory card.
Then do what needtogetfit posted but I've made it step by step for ppl like me LOL):
Connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" NOT PC Suite. A folder should show up, if not, go to 'my computer' and it will be there as "memory card" or whatever you have named your card.
Open it and you will see a few files in there. Make sure you delete the folder "cities" or "diskcashe" if it is still there and also delete a file called qf-file. (for some reason they seem to stay there even after a reformat etc and that's what seems to stop the maps from being seen properly)
I also made sure I had 'show hidden files' checked in the tools/folder options/view so I could see if they were hidden or not.
I then installed the nokia maps from my computer onto my phone via PC suite.
Open up your maps (it may take awhile cause it's starting a new directory structure on your memory card to replace the ones you deleted)... and allow it to connect to the internet briefly so you can get satellite coverage. (dont panic, you will still only see a green page, but if you zoom out you should at least now see your country etc)
Once you've done that, close and connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" and open up the map loader program and download your countries maps + voices you may want.
Once done, go back to your maps and you will find that all the streets will be showing once again!!
I hope this helps, it worked for me and I tried it on two different reformatted cards that weren't working before this.

  • Asha 305 - Nokia Maps app deleted

Hi i update my asha 305 v5.92 two months ago and i lose my nokia maps application, please help me reinstall
Moderator's note: We have provided a subject-related title to help other forum users easily view and respond to this post.

You seem to be making duplicate posts concerning this issue. It's not that simple as Nokia have been removing Nokia Maps application from devices without integral GPS chip as relying solely upon network triangulation for positioning is just too inaccurate, this may explain why it is now missing.

  • Nokia maps 3.06 hangs

I'v updated nokia maps to 3.06 and then updated the maps to version 0.2.41.11.
Now if I start the maps in offline or online mode it tries to get a GPS lock and after 10-15 seconds hangs and the cell restarts. This keeps happening until either I come to open space where it can get an easy lock for GPS. I'v checked all network setting and they are properly configured. Also tried to reinstall Nokia maps and maps for it. But no use.
Also when I check nokia maps update from the N8 itself it shows me new updated
map (India map ver: 0.2.42.122, size 190 MB) is available but when I check using OVI suite, it shows now new map.
    Device: Nokia N 8-00
    Software ver: 014.002
    Nokia Maps: 3.06 10wk50b12
    Maps ver: 0.2.41.11

    @tkal
There were no issues with deletion of 00.01.25.114 map set data for v3.04 and download of 00.02.42.122 map data for use with v3.06?
If you haven't downloaded much map data, might have suggested deleting E:\cities + .qf file, re-start OVI Maps application on device to re-initialise application and re-create necessary folder structure for you regional mapping to be downloaded.

  • Pre-Installed Nokia Maps on N73 ME

I hav a N73 ME and it came with Nokia Maps installed. Its ver 1.0 if i'm not mistaken. Been trying to use it but it only shows a blank screen with square cursor with option and exit. When i try to update on extra services it prompts to download License Manager. I did download it but and did update my navigation (3day trial ver.) still cant see anything, i dont want to use gprs to download maps, disabled the network connection on Maps and i did try installing map loader on my pc n download maps, uploaded it into my memory card but am unable to see the maps still on my phone, plz advice....very confused.

Checked on another thread and got this solution, seems to be working good but need to get home to download maps and load to my phone, will update once its working

  • Nokia Maps next update, when?

I'm Nokia Maps user from Finland, and I want know, when Nokia launch new version on this program? Reason is, this map/navigation program is full error. I'm use this program only one week, and I was found over ten route/navigation errors. My last navigation software works very well, but this is terrible!
Can Nokia made some web side, if customer want leave some deveploment idea? Example, I need usually more navigation point on my route. Now I can add only start and end-point. Usuallu, when I drive long trip, I want find some petrol station or something near my route. Now I must stop navigation and try find some petrol station and I can do it, but I don't know, witch direction this station is and how near this is on my route. Second, why navigation program not release connection on my HF-system after turn (or something else indication)? Now, when I use navigation, my car radio is all time muted amd I can't listen music, it's pooring.

  • N97 Nokia Map

    Hi guys,
Anyone know the application name list in the Installed Application:
(Setting --> Application MGR --> Installed apps.)
    Nokia Map (7MB)
I uninstalled this application call Nokia Map and I free 7MB from the C.
But my MAP icon still found in the application menu and the MAP is still working fine.
Ohhhh dear, what had I done ?
    I also don't know ........
This morning I notice the latest update of OVI MAP (9MB).
After I download the update from OVI and installed, the Nokia Map is appear in the Installed apps. list again with 7MB. shhhhhh
** the goal is to free more memory of my N97, I might uninstall all the application until the phone is NO MORE MEMORY FULL issue.
    Best regards
    Anderson

Despite the phone being short of RAM you DO need about 20 meg free on C for the phone to run reasonably quickley, there are 100's of threads advising on this, Opera Mini is NOT a memory hog (although Opera Mobile is) there is no need for an anti virus on a symbian phone it is simply a waste of space and resources. Do a search on the forum for optimising memory you will get lots of advice.

  • N97 MINI V12 Backup error with Nokia Maps Beta 3.0...

After installation nokia maps 3.06 beta on my fresh hardware reset n97 mini v12 is not possible to make backup from mobile to Memory card from File manager. Phone memory on C: is 220 MB.
With nokia maps 3.04 backup is ok, with 3.06 error: Memory full, operation canceled (kind)
I think firmware upgrade from v12 to v20 delay, the reason nokia maps 3.06 is not perfectly integred full functionaly in new firmware.

have the same problem. I think its a bug in SW 12.. , after a hard reset it worked well until I installed some programs (incl. Maps 3.06). Backup only with PC or Ovi Suite able to do.

  • N96 - Remove Failed on Nokia Maps

    Hi guys
So I have older version of Nokia Maps running on my N96.
    I wanted to remove it.
I couldn't see it via App Manager, but I thought I can remove it by clicking on Options --> Remove from the menu.
I get "Remove Failed" everytime I do this. Is there another way of doing this? I don't really want to format my memory card for this.

You can't remove it if it is embeded in the firmware. However, you should still be able to update to a newer version if that is what you are trying to do.
