Nokia Maps - pre-launch version bug

Hello,
I've just installed the latest version and it seems that it doesn't show properly street and city names with unicode characters - this worked well in beta version. Now map data looks very weird e.g. in Poland, because there are no Polish letters at all (instead there're some weird chars). The same problem exists in 'search' and others parts of the application.
Tested on N93, v20.0.058
BR,
Jack

I found another bug - when you search for cash mashines nearby, application shows doubled entries in results list (e.g. machineA, machineA, machineB, machineB, C, D, D, E...).
Everything was tested on N93 with latest Polish maps (downloaded by Nokia Map Loader 1.1).
BR,
Jack
P.S.
I'm slowly becoming main tester of this application

  • Nokia Maps 3.0 crash bug with E75 firmware 201.12....

    Phone: E75-1 / Type RM-412
    Firmware: 201.12.01
    Nokia Maps 3.0
I haven't seen this reported anywhere... but then again maybe I don't master the advanced search so well, apologies if this is a duplicate.
Nokia Maps crashes my phone when launching it.
The phone just switches itself off after the app opens (and shows me a map with a red dot on it) .
I haven't done anything to the phone apart from upgrading the firmware in the past few weeks, and after fiddling with the options, I discovered that the crash is due to an option that is active by default under Positioningmethods: Network based.
Disabling it makes everything go back to normal.
I don't remember this option from  the previous firmware version at all? Is there an update to Nokia Maps that I have missed? (the beta labs version isn't available for this device)

    Hi mika123
There have always been four available options in Positioning Method: Bluetooth GPS, Assisted GPS, Integrated GPS and Network GPS of which the latter three are ticked by default.
Surprised that Network GPS causes issues as is just using triangulation from cell towers but in case of some network providers packets of data do have to be sent and received.

  • N95 v21.0.016 after using Nokia Maps 2.0 Beta on v...

After updating software Nokia Maps returns to v1.2 wk48 b01 and of course maps in E:/Cities need to be deleted and old maps downloaded using Maploader v1.3 after running Nokia Maps to define folder structure. However on a microSDHC with 708.5Mb space left for maps(Maploader definition) it allows me to download and install a 20Mb map but after downloading a further 120Mb map it won't let it install with the message "Your local drive might be full or your access rights are insufficient".
This is of course great news when you've wasted about an hour downloading it!

    Hi harrykaa
Essentially so that I am aware of the problems (if any) experienced by users of N95 with the version of Nokia Maps pre-installed in v21.0.016
The answer to my problem was to replace the existing "diskcache" folder in "Cities" with one I found on an older memory card, just wish I had thought of this solution sooner.

    All firewall,antivirus disabled,internet connection OK(reliance netconnect broadband+ via USB).
All software have been installed and un-installed and re-installed after re-startinf the computer.
PC suite finds the internet connection to log on to the nokia maps website.
I am pulling my hair now and there are not that many anyway !!
    TIA

The wigmaker will have to wait for a few more months.
I removed Nokia Maps 3.0 on the phone- replaced it with version 2.0 sis available elsewhere and used the relevant maps and now it works fine.
I would love to upgrade this to Nokia Maps 3.0 though
As yet nothing from my computer connects to any nokis server- only webpages .

  • Why have not pre-installed Nokia map in my nokia 5...

    Hi everybody:
I come from Taiwan. I bought a nokia 5220 in my country but I found my phone have not pre-installed Nokia map. It's look like usually in my country. I browsed many websites they mentioned that Nokia 5220 has pre-installed "Nokia map" in the device in Europe. Does this application disabled in my country or something else?
ps. I have checked Menu > Organiser > but it doesn't have "Maps".
    ps2. device informations: software v4.86
    RM411
Can anyone suggest me how to lanch it or install it? Thanks a lot! "

You can install the portable Firefox 3.6.x version, that comes with its own profile, to access websites that do not work with Firefox 5+.
    *http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36
You probably need to create a new profile because the SQLite version used in Firefox 3.5 is not compatible the the SQLite version that is used by current Firefox versions.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Map updates for Symbian version of Nokia Maps/Driv...

The last map update I had for my Nokia 808 is from back in April of this year.
Is Nokia no longer providing map updates for the Symbian version of Nokia Maps/Drive software?
This would be VERY disappointing if so.
Please respond, and not ignore this question.
    thank you

    thanks!
But sadly Nokia didn't even have the manners to respond in that thread either.. so there is still no answer.
I just dropped $550 on a Nokia 808 Pureview, with the assumption that I will have good GPS software...
Now Nokia is abandoning map updates for symbian?
I will be outraged if this is the case..
    NOKIA please respond!!

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator - which version of Nokia maps...

    Hi !
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it
    doesn´t seems to work.
If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error
Can anyone tell me if this is possible.
I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps-client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis)
The error massage that shows up in the phone is:  It doesn´t work to install this file, the unit is built in!
And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using  nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis
I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn´t seems to be an option !
Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem.
    Best regards.

  • Nokia Maps Version

    Hi Guys...
I'm Asking about the latest version of Nokia Maps
    Is it this? (Nokia Maps 2.0 4503 3.2 u)
Or this? (v2.0 wk b04 Open GL LM MN)

Nokia Maps 2.0 4503 3.2 is the current release version for the N96. However there is also V3.0 beta available from Betalabs.

  • The latest Nokia maps version(00.02.41.123)

    Whole Europe:
    http://static.s2g.gate5.de/map5/maploaderzip-00.02.41.123/312.zip
As I have not seen any discussion about this version 00.02.41.123 of maps here, does it mean that no version other than map appl v.3.06 is able to work with these maps?
Map application v.3.06 works on the following phones:
     Symbian 3: N8, E7, C7, C6-01
    S60 5th Edition: N97, N97 mini, X6, C6-00, 5800XM, 5235, 5230 & 5230 Nuron

    http://symbian.clanteam.com/indexmaps.htm
The map link is from the above site. There are countries too. The bad thing with the Clanteam site is that they do not mention very exactly what their maps are.
Maps for the latest version of Ovi Maps (the former Nokia Maps) from maps.nokia.com, and for the latest beta test version of Ovi Maps 3.x.
Maps for Ovi Maps (Nokia Maps) 3.x
Those are the (Beta) maps for application 3.06
Or I don't know whether Nokia calls those maps beta any more!!!
The most interesting thing with the appl 3.06 and  the maps -00.02.41.123, is whether those
work with other Nokia phones than those mentioned in the first post of this thread!!!
Or whether the app. 3.04 works with the 02.41.123 maps?? Some one wants to try?
I know it's frustrating to download such a huge package (2.8 Gigabytes) but it's up to Nokia to facilitate that.  I need the whole Europe for planning the summer trip.  I've 00.01.23.112 version of maps( from cityindex.xml-file) and appl. 3.04.  Those are not working  very well.
I need quickly figure out whether I need to replace my  car navigator  with a new one or can the current Nokia maps and appl be updated in a way that  those can be used for planning the trip and are useful during the trip. It's hard to know what is going to happen with the maps in the future. Perhaps Nokia makes the latest "beta" maps and appl available to all "smartphones" perhaps not.   I bought C5-00 and it has certain limitations: small screen size for navigation, perhaps too weak gps chip, slow processor and too little memory. But the small size and weight makes it very practical to have it with me once abroad.
Hardly Nokia minds if some one who has managed to download the whole continent makes it available to others through a file sharing site or similar!! The maps are free and it's in the interest of Nokia to share those maps to so many as possible. There are plenty of problems with the maps already, hardly they want more customers who are complaining all the time not getting what they want. Newer versions of maps and applications come with improvements..

  • Nokia Map 2 version ?

Latest version for Map 2 is ? mine one on my N95-1 is v2.0 wk21 b02...Is that got latest version released on 9/6/08 ? coz got more cities covered....anybody can help?

Only problem is that the New Nokia Maps Version 2 still does not work well finding businesses and Canadian (Quebec) Addresses.
I have to give up on the Nokia Maps and use Google Maps to get my destination information.
Also the exit numbers for a lot of the Canadian Maps are incorrect(even with the latest maps) and seen some bad and missing directional information. I just wish there was an easier way to report these problems than only on this discussion forum.

Release a 3G HSPDA 850/900/1800/1900/2100 and Quad Band GSM phone instead!

  • Pre-Installed Nokia Maps on N73 ME

I hav a N73 ME and it came with Nokia Maps installed. Its ver 1.0 if i'm not mistaken. Been trying to use it but it only shows a blank screen with square cursor with option and exit. When i try to update on extra services it prompts to download License Manager. I did download it but and did update my navigation (3day trial ver.) still cant see anything, i dont want to use gprs to download maps, disabled the network connection on Maps and i did try installing map loader on my pc n download maps, uploaded it into my memory card but am unable to see the maps still on my phone, plz advice....very confused.

Checked on another thread and got this solution, seems to be working good but need to get home to download maps and load to my phone, will update once its working
"I got it working!!! I sure hope this helps you all too!!!!
Firstly, make sure you go to the app. manager on your phone (usually found in the applications folder) and delete the nokia maps 2 from there.
    Also reformat your memory card.
Then do what tjt79 posted, but I've made it step by step for ppl like me LOL):
Connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" NOT PC Suite. A folder should show up, if not, go to 'my computer' and it will be there as "memory card" or whatever you have named your card.
Open it and you will see a few files in there. Make sure you delete the folder "cities" or "diskcashe" if it is still there and also delete a file called qf-file. (for some reason they seem to stay there even after a reformat etc and that's what seems to stop the maps from being seen properly)
I also made sure I had 'show hidden files' checked in the tools/folder options/view so I could see if they were hidden or not.
I then installed the nokia maps from my computer onto my phone via PC suite.
Open up your maps (it may take awhile cause it's starting a new directory structure on your memory card to replace the ones you deleted)... and allow it to connect to the internet briefly so you can get satellite coverage. (dont panic, you will still only see a green page, but if you zoom out you should at least now see your country etc)
Once you've done that, close and connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" and open up the map loader program and download your countries maps + voices you may want.
Once done, go back to your maps and you will find that all the streets will be showing once again!!
I hope this helps, it worked for me and I tried it on two different reformatted cards that weren't working before this."

  • Unable to start Maps on E71 version 300.21.012

    Hi all,
after having done the migration from Nokia pc suite to Ovi, upgraded the Map software and loaded french map, i cannot use map software.
I click on it, then it seems to launch, and after 2 seconds i come back to the menu.
Impossible to uninstall the Map software
    Any idea about it?
    Hope yes, thanks
    fred

    Hi Fred_B
For this to occur there is usually a disparity between Nokia Maps version on device and stored mapping data; I would suggest deleting E:\cities and .qf  file from memory card, run Nokia Maps application once to define folder structure required and re-download your map of France.
If I remember it correctly v300.21.012 would have a Maps v2 pre-installed before you updated it, which used slightly different structure.
If all else fails provided that you have backed up data first, you could always "hard reset" E71 to return to maps version pre-installed in firmware v300
