Nokia Maps Satellite View Quality

Nokia Maps satelite view picture quality is very ugly in some countries to the point where you can't make out a single thing when zoomed in. I live in Jamaica and it is a pain trying to use it, so I am forced to use that other mapping service we all know of.
Will this problem ever be fixed? I need to know so that I can make a decision.
MobileTopSoft blogger and Nokia fanboy, hooah!

The same low quality for Afghanistan's Satellite map. In Ovi Maps mobile there is no more zoom level after 1KM. and in maps.nokia.com even 1KM zoom level is not clear.
BUT if you check NAVTEQ website you can see that it has HIGH QUALITY and CLEAR satellite images up to 50M ZOOM LEVEL.
Long time that it's very poor in Nokia's. When it will be implemented to maps.nokia.com and then to Ovi Maps mobile? How much time will it take?
As "Vames" said that Nokia Maps and Google Maps are provided by Navteq still Nokia couldn't improve maps for Afghanistan BUT Google has High Quality Satellite images and NAVIGABLE Map for Afghanistan.
When will Nokia improve the Maps?
When there will be navigable Maps for Afghanistan?
Regards.

  • 2710 maps satellite view

    Hi all! ))
I see that maps.nokia.com provide a several types of viewing maps. I am interesting is there a method to use a satellite view, because my phone shows me only a street view.  And the second question - if any of nokia employed specialists viewing this forum, maybe they can answer, why my country (Belarus) is so ugly represented in nokia maps. Only 8Mb - LOL. For example Google maps provide a full street and satellite service.
    thanks)

Unfortunately facility that is available upon S60 and S^3 devices not compatible with S40 devices. If you look at this link Belarus would appear to remain non-navigable for the forseable future:http://europe.nokia.com/search?qt=FA136594_en_US&np=other,products,services&cat=support&fullcontent=...

  • Maps - Satellite View vs. Map View

I used to be able to save my Map Bookmarks in Satellite View OR Map View. Now when I change one saved Bookmark from Map View to Satellite View or vice-versa, all the other saved bookmarks are changed accordingly. i.e. all my bookmarks are either all map view or all satellite view. Not sure when this happened, maybe as long ago as last firmware update.
Anybody notice this? I assume this is "normal" , at least now it is.

In my experience, a bookmark is not saved as one or the other. If I have Map view selected and select a bookmark, it is displayed in Map view. If I select another bookmark while Map view is selected, it is displayed in Map view. The same if I have Satellite or Hybrid view selected. If I have Hybrid view selected, any bookmark selected is provided in Hybrid view.

Exactly, so if you don't have a data plan and use the sat images a lot then you'll get charged a lot.

  • Here Maps: Why is the Satellite View resolution so...

Just got a Lumia 820. Here Maps Satellite View is dreadful. I can't identify anything - all I get is blurs in different colours. Have I got a setting wong?

    Hi rayhipkiss,
gMaps looks good - many thanks.
I downloaded Google Maps on to my Nokia 820 earlier, & I found it to be similar to the built-in Nokia/Here Maps, in that the satellite resolution was good over large cities, but poor elsewhere. This is in contrast to the PC version of Google Maps, which appears to give consistently good quality over the whole country (England). Are there different versions of these programs for PC & mobile users?

    Peter.

  • Viewing Nokia maps without satellite

    Hi mrnotia
Do you mean by this that you don't want to use a GPRS connection so that assisted GPS feature will not work, as provided internal GPS is enabled it will still lock onto satellites albeit more slowly unless outside?
If you have access to a WLAN this can always be the chosen access point if you want.
If you have downloaded regional maps you can use the "*" and "#" keys to zoom in/out and the cursor to traverse maps.

  • Satellite view of OVI Maps

    Hi Folks,
Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps.  I've put version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes.
Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a satellite image?  I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.
The map was loaded onto the phone by Nokia Map Loader.
The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.
    Am I doing anything wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    This is very frustrating.
I've been using my maps OK Offline on my Nokia 5800 (I downloaded the maps via the internet).
I now want to view in satelite but I just get green diagonal stripes instaed of trees etc.
I have seen pictures that show buildings etce.g.

I have managed to get Manhattan,ny,ny OK on my phone, but no 3D buildings or satelite as displayed on the above links.
Do I have to download a special map?

I am creating an aperture book from my photos. How do I change the default map provided in the theme to one of my choice e.g. satellite view?

    Kyle,
Thanks for your response. To be clear, the way I am importing the PDF is by going to New in LiveCycle, and selecting Import a PDF document, and selecting Create and Interactive Form with Fixed Pages.
I cannot change the forms or pages, as they are created by our local Board. In otherwords, I have tryed used the flowable content, and upon import, not only are the fonts slightly different, but all the important artwork (trade-related) is gone, and is not in the exact positions it was in. The forms must meet the standards to which they were approved by the regional board, and there are state-mandated forms as well.
What surprises me is that you say this method of Fixed Content isn't used much any more. I would think that a lot of people would have PDF files they would wish to make into fillable, interactive forms without needing to reconstruct the entire document. Perhaps a company that has always done things on paper, and now wishes to use those exact same forms on the computer, with no deviations to looks so they can be printed and match up perfectly.
I thought about using Acrobat's internal form creation system. However, some of these forms have sophisticated options and the calculation scripts and systems within LiveCycle are very useful. Not to mention that it has a much larger scalability, should we chose to utilize it.
Any other suggestions? I am so confused why Adobe would force medium-quality import of a PDF, but be so incredibly flexible about every other option in their program.

  • Satellite view in maps N96

    Hello everyone.
I have a problem in that I can no longer get the satellite view in Nokia Maps. I used to get it and have tried in locations where I used to see this layer but it aint there! I still get the 2D and 3D views.
I assume this view is web based - when I start maps I get a message saying 'maximum number of connections in use close an active connection first' I ok this and disconnect from service ISP (Vodafone.ie in this case)
Then get a prompt 'no internet connection select options, tools, go online. Do this and just get the same message - no internet connection.... - repeating.
I assume thiss is all to do with my connection settings but cannot solve it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need to change your internet connection from "Internet" to "WAP Services" in Tools-->Settings...

  • N8 default photo viewer and Nokia Maps

With the E52, I can view a photo (with geotag) with the default photo viewer. Select "Option/Show on Maps" and it will automatically opens up Nokia Maps showing where that photo was taken. And to navigate to that place.
With the N8 photo viewer, there isn't any such option. Is there any apps that could do that? Thanks

Seems it works the same way that on Nokia 5800xm as mentioned here ...

  • Using Maps 2.0 3D satellite view how to capture JPEG or PDF?

    Right, I'm on a late 2012 27" iMac with 32GB RAM 3.4 GHz I7 & running Yosemite.
I'm using Maps 2.0 and I have an interesting 3D satellite view of a part of los angeles that I would like to capture in JPEG or PDF for future reference.
    How to do this?

    Hey Wingbat1,
You can do one of two things. The first is get it lined up on how you want it to look and then click the Share button, which will be to the right of the search bar in Yosemite, to email the image and it will be in a PDF format. You can also create a screenshot of Maps as well. Take a look at the articles below for more information.
