  • Nokia Maps lost after firmware update

I had Nokia Maps installed on my N73 some time ago, it worked without problems. Now when I updated the phone software to v4.735.3.0.2 it is included in the base software. But the new version (1.2) does not show any map data - only a blank screen (and the globe).
I use only the free parts - no network, no GPS, no guides. The maps I downloaded with Map Loader. It has a new version too, so I installed it, deleted the old maps and re-downloaded some of them. But they still do not show onscreen.
There is also a downloadable version of Nokia Maps 1.2, but it cannot install on the phone - some error appears. Neither can I uninstall the version on the phone - it says "Cannot delete file".
What is the problem? Is it that the phone language is Bulgarian, while the maps are in English (there are no maps in Bulgarian)? It was not a problem before, and the UI still appears in Buglarian.
Or, maybe there are some trays of the older version which I can delete manually. In fact, it was first installed in phone memory (so were the maps). Then, I moved the maps to the memory card, and after a previous phone software update, I installed the application on the memory card too.
Please help me find the maps. Thanks!

I managed to view the maps somehow:
    1. Connect the USB in card reader mode
    2. Download the maps using MapLoader
    3. While the memory card is connected, copy and paste the \private\20001f63\diskcache folder to \cities\diskcache in Windows Explorer
    4. Disconnect only from the tray icon on the desktop
    5. The maps are now visible.
This is obviously not a perfect solution. The maps use double space on the memory card. The network cannot be used to update them, only Map Loader. After any download the steps above must be reapplied.
The application cannot be uninstalled/reinstalled. It seems all the problems appeared when Nokia Maps was included in the firmware and concern users which had installed it before on phone memory. I hope they will be resolved in next software update from Nokia.

  • Nokia Maps: No traffic even after successful updat...

Hi, I’ve been using Nokia Maps for my 5800 and have been very impressed (it’s not perfect but given it’s free...). However, the only one bit that seems to *never* work is the traffic updates (I have tried several times). When using navigation, I choose “update traffic”, it says “updated successfully” but I see no traffic anywhere (on the map, on the traffic update screen...).
Any ideas!? Traffic would be really useful!
(I am UK based using 5800 and v3.03 of Nokia Maps...and there has definitely been traffic when I’ve checked!)
    Solved!

    Hi,
I'm in the UK and was stuck in huge traffic jam on the M60 motorway yesterday and the ovi maps version 3.03 didn't show any traffic problems, despite having the phone report that it had successfully updated the traffic information.
    Any ideas what's going on?
    Dave.

  • Photo viewer lost after firmware update

    hi
im using nokia 6303i classic and recently updated my firmware 6.60 to 7.10 and i lost all the applciations including photo viewer, calculator, converter, opera mini and all others which are built in phone memory. kindly help me, if anyone can send me the backup?
    Solved!

As previously stated it simply could be a faulty installation. All you need to do is to reinstall it. For the missing applications, go to getjar.com and choose from the different calculators, converters, photoviewers and other apps available for your phone. Just install new ones.

  • My Nokia 5800XM not working Properly after Firmwar...

    Hi,
My Nokia 5800XM is showing Half Screen after updating to Firmware v52...
I am much worried about it.. Please help me out...
Half Screen is showing menus but white bars are scrolling on screen. and half screen in totally blind.
    Thanks in advance...
    Naeem

Have you ever replaced the screen ?
The problem is reported by many users on this forum.. if the replacement screen was not original Nokia product..The only solution in this scenario is to visit Nokia Care to get it replaced by an original one..
If this is not the case, then try re-installation of the software.... and if required a Hard reset after that..
Warning : Hard reset will erase data from phone memory so take a back-up before doing so..

  • All info lost after software update...need help!

I was running a software update in order to make sure I had the latest on my computer. After I restarted the computer and 10.4.4 was loaded, I went into iTunes, address book, iPhoto and I nothing was there. Now this might be normal, but I was unaware of this and now I have a huge pit in my stomach because I lost a lot of information that took me months to compile. Is there anyway to retrieve any of this (pictures, addresses, music) or am I just out of luck? Thanks for all help in advance.

Turns out those error messages it gave me were because it didn't sync properly and create a backup. Which is why when I restored from backup it didn't reload my old info. Instead of assuring me that I would have the option to restore my info, it would have been nice had it told me that a backup hadn't been completed and that restoring my phone without it would leave me with nothing.
Tech support had me use my old SIM card to import my old contacts. This worked, but I've entered contacts since getting the new phone that aren't on my old SIM. And doing so left me with a bunch of re-organizing to do (deleting, combining, entering First and Last name fields...) it took me several hours.
I didn't get my appointments back, cause my old phone was just a phone, and that info wasn't on the old SIM, but I'm REALLY glad I got my contacts.

  • Calendar info lost after sync

synced the mac book this morning.. and instead of a merge.. it replaced all the new info.. therefore deleting it.. how can I get those entries back?
is there a undo or revert?
    thanks in advance..

I'm speculating, but yeah i think you have probably lost those calendar entries when you synched.Hard to tell without knowing exactly how you synched and the set up of itunes and your computer.
Best bet is to use iCloud to back them up (by way of an @me.com email), or use an online calendar such as Google's Gmail Calendar (I actually use both). You can still view those in the Calendar app, but a synch wouldn't remove the entries. Aslo makes it easy to get to them if you are on a mchine other than your iPad.

  • All info lost after update, please help.

So I updated my phone a few nights ago and it went fairly smoothly. It dropped my apps, but that was easily fixed by going to the app store and just redownloading them all.
Tonight, I went to update my wife's phone. I first synced it so it would make a backup of everything on it. Started the update and it dropped everything from her phone (contacts, pics, apps, matter of fact, its like its a brand new phone...) So I thought to myself, no biggie, I'll just restore it.
Now, I use the same computer for my wife and I's phones. I went to restore her phone and it only has restore points for my phone. Is there anything I'm missing? As many husband's out there probably know, this is going to be a fun conversation to have with my wife that I lost everything on her phone (albeit not my fault but that really doesn't matter).
Please, please, please someone let me know if there is anything I can do to restore her phone before this update threatens a wife's wrath being brought upon a husband just trying to make her phone faster.
    Thanks.

Even if it told me it was creating a backup? I can understand that apple doesnt care too much about multiple people using one computer (hope you caught the sarcasm), but if it told me it was creating a packup, shouldnt it have legitimately created one? It doesnt even show one in the restore from log.

  • Lost favourites in Nokia Maps (E71)

    Can someone please help me!!
I've stored a number of locations as 'favourites' in Nokia Maps and have lost them all after having installed a firmware update (E71).  I did a full synchronise of the device before installing the update and then did another full synchronise after the update.
When I open Nokia maps all my locations that I saved are not there.
If I search my device on my PC I see a folder titled: CITIES which has a sub-folder titled: disckache  which has a number of subfolders in it each with one, two or three individual files in them.  Could these be the original locations I had saved?

    Hi mdsanto,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Can you elaborate further on your concern? Can you remember what you were doing with the phone before the Nokia maps disappeared?
    Try to reinstall the software using the Nokia Suite. This should restore the pre-installed applications on the phone. You can download the Nokia Suite application here;

  • N95 8GB Nokia MAPS System Error

    Guys,
When I try to load the application on my phone, I am getting System error.
I still have a warranty. Do I have to service it or reinstall it myself.
    Thanks

    Hi denskits
Nokia Maps is pre-installed with firmware so perhaps try a "hard reset" after backing up essential phone data in case of software corruption.
As advised previously you could also check with Nokia Software Updater to see whether option to update or re-install existing firmware is present.
There is probably a more recent version of Nokia Maps v2.0_3204 available for your N95 8GB to download here, although whether it will install if problems with original installation is another matter:

  • N82 Nokia Maps update fail

    Hi,
I have a problem with my phone. The phone was turned off by mistake during Nokia Maps update. Nokia Maps do not work at all now. When i push button "Maps", I don't get any reaction. Nothing happens. Could you please give me a piece of advice, how i can to reinstall Nokia Maps or something else? I was trying Nokia Maps Loader, but it did not help me...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try reinstalling it using the same procedure you used whe updating. If this works fine but if it doesn't then you have to reinstall the previous version and then try updating again.
Because Nokia Maps is embeded in the firmware, to reinstall the original Nokia Maps version, you have to reinstall the firmware. To do this, you have to use the *#7370# reformat phone code. Before reformatting you need to backup all data in your phone because your phone will be wiped.
After reinstalling the firmware, you will find that you are back to the previous version of Nokia Maps. Now try updating again. After you successfully update, delete the "Cities" folder on the memory card, use Nokia Maps at least once. Now finally you can use Map Loader to download latest maps.

  • Nokia Maps loaded up to 90% then it bombed out.

Please, I upgraded my Nokia Maps to V2.0 and now when it is started it load up to 90% then it bombed out. Rebooted the phone (N95 8GB) and it did the same thing.
I tried to reinstall the application, format the memory and reset the N95's configurations without success.
I was not able to remove the nokia maps to try a completely new installation.
    Thanks for any help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The problem is not with the map data so it has to be with the application. Since Nokia Maps is embeded in the firmware you will not be able to uninstall and reinstall the normal way.
To reinstall the firmware you will either have to reinstall the firmware or at least to reformat the phone. As the reformat is less drastic, this is what I recommend you try at this stage.
First, backup your phone. I recommend backing up to both mass storage and your pc.
Once you have backed up your phone, use the *#7370# code to reformat.
Once this is done, Nokia Maps should revert to the version that came with the phone, but it should work. You could if you want, try to update it to the latest version after that.

  • N81 8GB and maps: internal memory lost!!!!

My brand new N81 8GB has 16MB of free internal memory and somewhat 8GB of free external memory (where internal memory in the phone memory [C drive] and external memory is the memory card [E drive]).
The N81 comes preinstalled with the Nokia Maps software, but no maps are pre-loaded.
According to NOKIA, to upload maps on the N81 you need [STEP 1] first to update the Nokia Maps software ON THE PHONE and [STEP 2] then install and run the Nokia Maps Loader from the computer.
The problem that is reported here has nothing to do with [STEP 2] (which works fine and correctly uploads maps on the N81 external memory) but happens already at [STEP 1].
So, starting with an N81 with 16MB of free internal memory, I connect it to the pc in PC SUITE MODE and I install the Nokia Maps software update, and after installation the phone internal memory goes down to 8MB!!!!!!!!!
So, by simply updating the Nokia Maps software (not even the maps) 8MB of internal memory are lost.
I have tried anything to gain back those 8MB, but could not find any solution. I have even tried with X-plore looking into every single hidden and system folder: nothing!!!!!!!!!
The only way was to do a hard reset of the phone and reinstall all software (or a backup, if you have one).
By the way, the Nokia Maps Loader uploads the maps on the phone even if you do not do the Nokia Maps software update.

Same here, but with a non-8GB N81, and it's internal memory is at 1.3MB!
