  • Nokia map - Ukraine

Hi, with Nokia map preloaded on my E90 I was able to use the ukranian map (kiev city) with a certain level of detail. Let's say, enough details to survive. Then I upgraded to the beta version and reloaded the map in the phone. Now, Ukraine, especially Kiev has only highway and I realized that is not navigable anymore....
Do you know the reason why? Will it change? Is it a bug?
How can I get the previous map?
    thanks

Many Thanks For Your Help Scoobyman.
    I am using a 2 Year Old Nokia N95.
I Recently Updated the Firmware,Updated the Maploader Software and put in a 4 GB Mem Card.
Then Downloaded most Maps of the World.
When arriving in Kiev,i could Not understand why the Navteq System would only show Main Roads.
I Downloaded the Old Maploader Vers 12,from this site.
I Have just put my Old 1 GB Mem card back in after Deleting Cities using a Card Reader.
Started the Maps up Online,10 Minutes,7 MB Data.
Just like we had to when first getting this Mobile in 2007.
I Re-installed the old Version of Maploader using Nokia pc suite to the Mem Card.
    Hey Presto
The Old Tele-Atlas Maps of Kiev,Ukraine Appeared at Street Level.
Its Not too much aggro to have a Spare card

  • Nokia Maps v3.8

I just installed on my N8 running v25 the new Nokia Maps v3.8 which came up as an update on Nokia Suite. Installation completed OK, but I cannot launch the application - "Maps: Feature not supported!".
I cannot see any Maps entry in the list of Installed Apps in the App manager, so I cannot uninstall.
I have downloaded maps to my handset and I can see them in Nokia Suite no problem.
    Any ideas ?

...2. On top of screen, long press to bring up bring up "option" like "Walk to" or "Drive to" or "Add to route" etc etc.
    Am I correct?...
Yes, except can save to Favorites but not add to route. Ver 3.08 does not do routes with intermediate waypoints as far as I can see in the just released version (although I have not explored looking very hard for it). The beta was the same and to save me typing a lot of words if you go to the Nokia Beta Labs site you will find quite a lot of discussion about removal of this.
It would be nice to have it but frankly I have not found it to be as much of an issue as I first thought it might be. That because I normally just used intermediate waypoints for places I wanted to stop at enroute. It is very easy in that case to just from that waypoint click the next destination in the favorites list (or hover over and click "Drive to" or "Walk to").
Still does not do bluetooth to headsets but my understanding is that is a phone firmware issue not the Maps app itself.

  • Nokia maps 3.06 hangs

I'v updated nokia maps to 3.06 and then updated the maps to version 0.2.41.11.
Now if I start the maps in offline or online mode it tries to get a GPS lock and after 10-15 seconds hangs and the cell restarts. This keeps happening until either I come to open space where it can get an easy lock for GPS. I'v checked all network setting and they are properly configured. Also tried to reinstall Nokia maps and maps for it. But no use.
Also when I check nokia maps update from the N8 itself it shows me new updated
map (India map ver: 0.2.42.122, size 190 MB) is available but when I check using OVI suite, it shows now new map.
    Device: Nokia N 8-00
    Software ver: 014.002
    Nokia Maps: 3.06 10wk50b12
    Maps ver: 0.2.41.11

    @tkal
There were no issues with deletion of 00.01.25.114 map set data for v3.04 and download of 00.02.42.122 map data for use with v3.06?
If you haven't downloaded much map data, might have suggested deleting E:\cities + .qf file, re-start OVI Maps application on device to re-initialise application and re-create necessary folder structure for you regional mapping to be downloaded.

  • Pre-Installed Nokia Maps on N73 ME

I hav a N73 ME and it came with Nokia Maps installed. Its ver 1.0 if i'm not mistaken. Been trying to use it but it only shows a blank screen with square cursor with option and exit. When i try to update on extra services it prompts to download License Manager. I did download it but and did update my navigation (3day trial ver.) still cant see anything, i dont want to use gprs to download maps, disabled the network connection on Maps and i did try installing map loader on my pc n download maps, uploaded it into my memory card but am unable to see the maps still on my phone, plz advice....very confused.

Checked on another thread and got this solution, seems to be working good but need to get home to download maps and load to my phone, will update once its working
"I got it working!!! I sure hope this helps you all too!!!!
Firstly, make sure you go to the app. manager on your phone (usually found in the applications folder) and delete the nokia maps 2 from there.
    Also reformat your memory card.
Then do what tjt79 posted, but I've made it step by step for ppl like me LOL):
Connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" NOT PC Suite. A folder should show up, if not, go to 'my computer' and it will be there as "memory card" or whatever you have named your card.
Open it and you will see a few files in there. Make sure you delete the folder "cities" or "diskcashe" if it is still there and also delete a file called qf-file. (for some reason they seem to stay there even after a reformat etc and that's what seems to stop the maps from being seen properly)
I also made sure I had 'show hidden files' checked in the tools/folder options/view so I could see if they were hidden or not.
I then installed the nokia maps from my computer onto my phone via PC suite.
Open up your maps (it may take awhile cause it's starting a new directory structure on your memory card to replace the ones you deleted)... and allow it to connect to the internet briefly so you can get satellite coverage. (dont panic, you will still only see a green page, but if you zoom out you should at least now see your country etc)
Once you've done that, close and connect your phone to your computer using the "data transfer" and open up the map loader program and download your countries maps + voices you may want.
Once done, go back to your maps and you will find that all the streets will be showing once again!!
I hope this helps, it worked for me and I tried it on two different reformatted cards that weren't working before this."

  • Ovi Maps and Nokia Maps - do I need both?

I am sure this question has been asked already but I cannot find it having spent some time doing a search.
The question is do I need both or can I dispense with one? If so, with what consequences?
The position is that I tried to update Ovi maps but couldn't because there was insufficient space on drive C, so I thought I would delete it and then I would be able to install the new version. Unfortunately wrong again - still insufficient space on drive C. Hence my question - do I need both maps? Life would be easier just with Nokia maps in the circumstances.

Thanks. Can I take it that Nokia Maps is pre-installed? Would I be correct in concluding that I can delete Ovi Maps to save space and just update Nokia Maps from time to time?
If Nokia Maps is not updated from time to time I would need to install Ovi Maps to keep up-to-date?
I have I think deleted Ovi Maps but I still have Maps. In fact I am fairly certain I have all the maps I downloaded from OVi Maps. When I run Maps the screen refers to "Ovi Maps". Perhaps I haven't uninstalled Ovi Maps at all although the programme said that I had! Perhaps it is Ovi Maps that is pre-installed.
Sorry but I remain confused and hope I can through this tread clear it up once and for all.

  • Ovi maps and Nokia Maps

I have recently downloaded the ovi maps update for free navigation on my 5800 however now I seem to have 2 programs in my installed apps menu, Ovi maps and Nokia maps. This is causing me some problems as my phones built in memory is now completely full and I am unable to do some things as I have ran out of on phone memory space. Which one is the main map software? And also can I uninstall one? If not then can it be installed on a MSD card and if yes how?

As far as I can determine Ovi maps is the mapping software (program) which installs to C (phone memory) and Nokia maps is the map data that you have loaded which I believe are installed to E (mass memory).
I can confirm that you do need both installed.
The problem as far as I can see is that the previous maps versions 3.01 is built into the current firmware (v20 for N97 - not sure for 5800) and installing maps 3.03 does not remove or overwrite the earlier version so you end up with both versions installed and thus the extra memory footprint.
This will remain a problem until a newer firmware is released which will hopefully have maps 3.03 (or later depending when next firmware is released) thus reducing the extra 9 megs or so used.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Nokia Maps - Postcode search is no longer working

    Please help!
The is a post on the navigation and GPS section but I wanted to see if anyone on the main forum has experienced the problem, because we cannot find a solution.
Up until the last few days whilst online when I searched for a post code on Nokia Maps the result was the full post code location. When I did the same search offline the result was truncated. ie bp11 4re became bp11 4.
This is pretty useless in trying to locate anything using a post code.
Today I noticed that whether I was online or not, the post code search always produced the shortened result.
I have now searched on line and found nothing save for the post mentioned above. I have performed a hard reset and have the latest firmware for my phone (v12) I also have the latest version of maps v1.2.
Please can someone shed some light on why this search facility has changed. Could it be something to do with the Nokia Server?

A late reply but in case somebody is looking:
    /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-Maps-Postcode-search-is-no-longer-working/td-p/244168
The last one suggests that a full postcode search needs an internet connection.
    This lead to a solution!
In Maps, under Settings / General / Connection you have a choice of Online or Offline. If you have Offline then the search is limited as described, with the last two postcode characters ignored. If you have Online selected, then it works properly.
So even though Nokia Maps are offline maps, the full postcode search is done on their server.

  • Nokia Map and Drive+ Beta on Lumina 920 Feedback

So I took my new phone down to MD/DC area in the last few days and here are a few things that I would like to post as my feedback on what would be nice to have, fixes, etc.  [I used both my new Lumia 920 and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as comparsion).
    1. Highest priority for me is that the routes from Here.net need to be able to sync down to the phone.  Nothing more is more important then this because when you have a custom route that you want to use (for example, to route around high traffic or potential high traffic areas).
    2. Extremely disappointed that a new road in MD (MD 200) was not used by the Drive+ and didn't even show up on the map on my Lumia 920 while it was used and did show up on Google map.  This road is a toll road and is over a year old already.  [And yes, I have enabled toll road in the navigation as well as selected 'faster route' as the routing to use under smart routing].  I cannot stressed how disappointed I am to not see Nokia Map have this route at all.
    3. Allow route changes on the Nokia Drive+ app.  As good as pre-planned trip and using Here.net, there are just tmes that it's much better to allow us to change the route based on latest condition.
    4. Never once did I see ANY traffic updates at all on both the Map and Drive+ Beta.  When it does shows on my wife's Google's Map/Navigation.
    5. I love that under Drive+, it tells you which lane to get into ahead of when you need to make a turn or merge onto another way. However, the flip side of that is that there's no way to know which road you're currently on.  This is probably more important for when you're in an area with a lot of highway/local way intersections.  Also, it would be great if it also will display the next major 'road' that you will be getting onto.
So far I'm happy with some of the functionality and disappointed in some of Nokia Map and Drive+ and I have about a week left to decide to either stay with WP9 and Nokia or do I want to switch back to Android and Google Map.

Really doesn't sound good, you could go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Network > Network mode - see if changing from dual mode to UMTS or GSM makes any difference; could also try brand new SIM card in case contacts in device SIM holder getting a bit worn but probably clutching at straws!

  • If download of Nokia Maps doesn't work...

...then you can try the following.
When I tried to download Nokia Maps from "nokia.mobi/maps" via "Web" with my E61i, once I clicked on "Accept Terms Service", the browser always took me back to the starting page with the red text "You must select your phone model". I tried this several times and it failed every time.
Solution: use the "Services" icon instead (which is the phone's WAP browser), and then the download should work.
Pretty weak of you Nokia to fail at this point...

  • A very strange thing happening with Nokia Map Load...

I am trying to load new maps onto my x6.
When I click on Nokia Map Loader it tells me that another instance of the programme is running and that I need to close that one down first.
But this is not the case. I have no other programmes running.
It mentioned that I might have the maps updater programme running. Again that wasn't true.
I uninstalled both and started again.
    Same problem.
I try launching map loader through pc suite. Same thing.
I am really flummoxed and I hope someone can help.
    Thank you.

Did you set up "hot corners" for Expose?
I bet you have the up/left corner set for "Application Windows" then when you move over and have no apps open you get the warning noise. When you move slowly you just don't hit the corner to triger expose

  • Urgent help. Nokia Maps... Asha 309

I am unable to download and install offline maps... Says the data on memory card maybe corrupt. How do I fix.
    Tried reinstalling software...
    Help..!
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just opening Nokia Maps application with newly formatted memory card should create the necessary folder structure to be recognised by Nokia Suite. You could try copying existing E:\cities and .qf file if present on memory card to folder on your PC for safe keeping and delete these from memory card and re-open Maps and try again to download regional mapping.

  • Special characters issue with Nokia Maps on N95

    Hi there,
when using Navigation in conjunction with Nokia Maps on my N95, all streets and towns which contain any special character in their name (for example: é, è, ü, ä, ö, etc…) do appear as unreadable garbage on the screen of the N95.
I only noticed the problem after having purchased the 3 years license Navigation upgrade (EUR 99.99) and immediately notified Nokia. That was back in October. Since then I have called them at least 10 times and ultimately I have asked for a refund as no solution is still available.
In all these calls with Nokia, the only reasonable argument I heard was that maybe (!!!) the new software update version 20.0.015 released back at the end of November could solve the issue. Unfortunately, for my phone (which is a branded one) the update is not yet available.
Today, after calling them again, I was told that Nokia’s policies do not foresee refunds and therefore my request has been rejected. I was told to bring my phone to a Nokia Store and see if they can help me (I don’t see how). I was also told that maybe I would have to send-in the phone for repair.
This is soooo frustrating that despite the 3 months of patience and all the money spent for the N95 (not quite cheap), the navigation upgrade and the phone calls to Nokia, I still have the same issue. I will probably end up filing a complaint with a monthly consumer’s magazine in the hope they will publish my story.
After all, it may not even be Nokia’s fault but rather the guys who are responsible for the maps, but if Nokia accepts to have a commercial venture with a vendor, than they also accept liability for the joint product. And by turning down my legitimate request for refund, they have proven not to give a **bleep** about people like you and me.
Forgive me for the long post - needed to release some of the frustration...

I have been using an N95-8GB since Nov.'07. From my experience with this phone that has a built-in mass memory besides the phone memory. I had trouble retrieving some of the softwares I have installed. For eg. I have saved some themes in the mass memory & I could not find it when I want to delete it. There are some 3rd parties games software inside where I cannot even delete
This is what I don't like about the phone. I have bought an N82/Black recently as it uses an external memory card.
Coming back to Nokia maps. Personnaly, I don't think they are that good & I have problem downloading it into my phone from my PC after having downloaded it from Nokia.
By the way the Nokia map is not even the latest map 2.0. Is still a 1.0
I used Navfone map software & it works OK in the 8GB. You have to purchase it.
    I have used a couple of N-series phones in the past ie. N-90, N-70, N-71, N-73, N-80/Black, N95, N-95/8GB & now N-82.
Common with all N-series phones. After you have disconnected when you are done with your call you have to wait for a while before the word "disconnected" disappears.
The more features it has, the more problem you are gonna to encounter.
Unless you want to download softwares into your phone & have a good camera thats where the N series phones come in.
For normal usage, a 40 series phone will suffice.
