Nokia Messaging 1.1: Intellisync and GMail

I use my Nokia E71 at work as an Intellisync client and I have my personal GMail account. I set up Intellisync at Nokia Email client, I cannot set up GMail in automatic mode (only I am able to setup in the regular Messaging with automatic retrieval but not push)
If I set up GMail first,  everything works fine, but when I want to set up an additional mailbox, Intellisync does not appears as an option in Corporate email...
I do not know if it is intented or bug, but I would like to know to not insist trying and trying on my device
Regards,
MS

This is starting to get to the extent of being annoying.
I have somehow narrowed it down.
It only happens when the application starts to sync at the time specified under "When to sync".
Sync can sometimes be stopped by choosing cancel sync but not always.
The only reliable way is to go into online account and delete and add accounts again.
It might be due to changes being done to email account on pc while sync is ongoing.  Such as deleting emails on pc while sync starts.

  • Nokia Messaging not deleting emails from Gmail ser...

When I access my gmail account via Nokia Messaging on my E72, any emails that I delete using my nokia are not deleted from my gmail account - instead they are being transferred to my All Mail folder, which is where I keep email that I have ARCHIVED, not email that I have deleted, so it's messed up my archived mail and also means that when I access my gmail via POP in Outlook, items that I have previously 'deleted' on my mobile have to be downloaded and sorted through again. Is there a way to change this behaviour? At the moment the gmail app is a better option.

Unfortunately this didn't work for me (E75). I created an extra label. I also subscribed in imap to this folder. When I want to delete a message, I move it to this folder / label. Every now and then I delete all these mails from gmail on my PC.
    Suyogmh wrote:
This is well known behavior of Gmail and not problem with Nokia Messaging as such.
Gmail has different way of handling emails with labels instead of folders. So "All Mails" means all mails except Spam and Trash. Check following link for more details.
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en &answer=77657
Check if following settings are in order in Gmail - settings - forwarding and POP/IMAP in web browser.
    Status: IMAP is enabled
Auto-Expunge : Do not automatically expunge messages
When a message is expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:  Immediately delete the message forever
Folder Size Limits: Do not limit the number of messages in an IMAP folder
Now head over to email.nokia.com and login with your username/pwd
Under My Email Addresses, for your gmail account , click edit settings
Now in "Mail folders to sync" Please ensure that you select "All Mail" , "Spam" and " Trash"
You can also select other labels , max upto 10.
Click Save changes and log out.
Now in your Nokia Phone, Open Nokia Messaging and Sync again.
Go to Gmail and these new labels should appear there.
If you want to delete a message from all folders, move it to the [Gmail]/Trash folder.
If you delete a message from [Gmail]/Spam or [Gmail]/Trash, it will be deleted permanently.
So I know it's little extra effort but we can do it. I hope you find this useful. If yes, don't forget to give me Kudos

  • Nokia Messaging keeps marking the whole Gmail fold...

Every time a new message is received in my Gmail folder on E55 (v. 022.009.C00.01), all old messages are marked as UNREAD, although they have already been READ. This is very annoying and seems I have no way to solve it by myself (I've already deleted the account, reinstalled, changed parameters, and so on).
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Any support by Nokia? I'm a bit concerned about their lack of responsiveness... Moreover, despite stickers on phone box, Nokia Messaging seems to be very far from being stable.

  • How do I delete a message?  Using Imap and gmail

I am using imap with gmail in apple mail for leopard. I get the idea that when you press the delete button it only deletes the inbox tag and it is still available for reference in "all mail" on the left window. I like this, it allows me to clear out my inbox and still reference e-mails later. Here is the question... How do I really delete a message, one I truly never care to see again? My "all mail" is getting out of control.

    This is what I do:
In preferences, I set my Gmail account as recommended by Google: I UNcheck the "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox" option under Mailbox Behaviors. Once I do that, clicking "Delete" from the inbox actually archives it into the All Mail, but leaves it in my mailbox.
If there is an email I actually want to delete from my account, I move it from my Inbox to the Trash folder. I do this with a MailActOn keystroke, but you can do it just by moving it or dragging it there.
MailActOn helps a bunch if you have a lot of emails. I process about 300 a day and rely on it for maintaining my sanity, especially since I can set the same keystroke to do different things in different accounts, since I "delete" and "archive" differently for different accounts.

  • N97 / Gmail / Nokia Messaging - temporary solution

Hi, Was having the same problems as a lot of people with Nokia messaging only occasionally syncing with gmail or simply not syncing at all.
I've found a temporary solution which is working great.
I've set up an email account with my ISP (hopefully you have a spare to use ro can maybe try a different free server) [email protected] and set gmail to forward all incoming email to this new address while keeping email in the gmail inbox.
I've now set nokia messaging to use my new email address - I now have emails arriving constantly.
Not a fix just a workaround I know.
My gut feeling is there is some intrinsic problem between Nokia and Gmail that is affecting some accounts that needs to be fixed. I hope it happens. I'd love to be able to simply connect to my gmail account and have it working.
    Cheers Mick

  • E7 MFE and Nokia Messaging Issues

Hi I have the following issues with my Nokia E7-00: BEFORE ANNA UPDATE: 1. With MFE on Hotmail: Only Inbox will sync. Other folders will not sync. Contacts and Calendar sync well, no problem. If i send an email from my device, i receive that email, it is there on the Sent folder on the server, but not on my device. 2. With Nokia Messaging: Only Inbox and Sent folders will sync. Junk and Draft folders will not sync. AFTER ANNA UPDATE: 1. With MFE on Hotmail: Same as BEFORE ANNA UPDATE. 2. With Nokia Messaging: When i configure Hotmail / Gmail / Yahoo, it says "cannot enable the service that gives you full access to the features..." Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!

Have you tried to check whether the synchronization success or fail?
    To check it:
Open the Nokia Messaging Email screen
Open 'Options' menu (left soft key)
    Choose 'Connection Info'
    Some info displayed are:
last sync date and time, last sync status (successful or failed), last successful sync date and time

  • Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Nokia Messaging still not working.

I have been trying to set up Nokia Messaging for a few days now. I've read all the info I can find on the net regarding it - others have fixed it, but I still cannot.
Any email address I enter into the email setup wizard gives the familiar message "Unable to connect with the information provided. Please try again."
I have already installed the latest version of Nokia Messaging. I have tried my Ovi address, Gmail address, Hotmail address, Yahoo! address and an 'other' address with the same result.
Logging on to email.nokia.com with a PC allows me to enter my mobile number (with and without the '0' at the beginning of my Australian mobile) and choose my phone (N97). Clicking next opens a page which advises me to log on to email.nokia.com with my mobile browser. Doing so brings me to a download page for the latest version of messenger which I already have.
I cannot log in to Nokia Messenger online as I cannot create an account. Attempting to sign up brings me back to the enter your mobile number and choose your phone page. Dead end.
Please let me know how to solve this.
    Regards,
    Paul

I am having this same issue. I've downloaded the newest version of nokia messaging from the browser on my N97.  I enter in all my email information, it downloads my email to my phone, but in a very primative format. (it connects, but does not remain connected. Each time i leave my messaging folder I have to disconnect.)
When I enter my logon on the email.nokia.com site, it tells me (The user name and password you entered do not match any accounts on record. Please make sure that you have correctly entered the first email address you used when you signed up for Nokia Messaging.) -
My friend has an N97, and his nokia messaging is a very different look than mine, it pushes email to his phone at any time,.. it's what I'm looking for.
He set up his nokia messaging on my phone, and it downloaded his email, set up nokia messaging etc.. but with all his data. (he lauched if from his active email.nokia.com logon on his PC)
Once I deleted his info, and tried to set up my account, - NO GO, back to the same old problem I had.  So the 'application' does function on my phone, its proven to... its something to do wtih my account not being able to be created.  Nokia phone support had NO idea how to assist.

  • Getting Nokia Messaging on my Nokia 2710c

    Hi
Recently got a Nokia 2710c. I got the Nokia messaging set up for my gmail account but now when I try and log in it says " nokia messaging is now available your enhanced service has expired " When I press OK and try to upgrade its says the upgrade is not available for my device.
    Any suggestions out there?
    Thanks in advance

  • Nokia Messaging creates mailboxes in default messa...

I have a peculiar problem since the last patch was released. I have tried to install Nokia Messaging about 5 times, and every time it ends up with creating new mailboxes in the default messaging app of my N95. After that clicking on Nokia Email icon in the apps does nothing. The mailboxes created in the default messaging app are similar to what one would create manully to retrieve email from GMail using IMAP. Needless to say push doesn't works.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    puneet

    Hello Puneet,
I and all of my friends experienced this same issue. What I did to setup the account, First i signed up for Nokia Messaging account on the email.nokia.com on my PC, and then after installing the NM Client on the phone, go to back to email.nokia.com and log in with your email address and password that you signed up with. Once logged into your account, on the left side select “Install Now” it will take you through setup wizard to send a sms, once you receive the sms then open the link in the sms, it should prompt you for your email address and password and once you log on, it should sync your mailbox and you should be able to open NM email client on the phone.

  • Nokia Messaging deletes my emails

    Hi all,
I'm a new E66 user, I set up my email on Nokia messaging and started using today. I'm using an IMAP email server. I receives emails into my phone, they are kept in the server but after outlook receives the emails, they are deleted from the server. And after that emails are deleted from my phone immediately. It doesn't wait for 3 days or so.
And also I can't change "3 days" option from the options menu, it says "Setting can not be changed!"when I tried to.
Because I'm a new user, maybe I'm doing something wrong but I tried the options and couldn't find anything about it.I updated phonesoftware and download the last version of Nokia Messaging.
    Any help?
    Thanks

You're doing just great. When you pull your mail with Outlook, it will be deleted from the servers. Log in to Nokia Messaging with a PC and check the settings.

  • Nokia Messaging wont use WiFi-Connection

Im using version 9.6.0.12 of Nokia Messaging for emails on my N96 in german. The phone firmware is version 30.101.
Now the problem is: Ive configured my default access point so that every application first checks if there is one of my known WLANs in range, and if not, uses UMTS to connect to the web.
This works fine with most apps... but Nokia Messaging just ignores it and always establishes a UMTS connection when Ive set its access point to "Default".
I can force Nokia Messaging to use WiFi when I go to "settings -> general -> service info -> access point" and choose one of my WLANs there (instead of "Default"). But it is very impractical to change this setting every time I move to another location.
Is this a bug or is there some way to fix it?

I have the same problem in my x6-00, although i can live without messaging, have all my email accounts configured and use them manually with wifi.
However, the problem is that the lonely planet and michelin guides in the ovi maps use nokia messaging when you click on an email link from there, and it therefore does not work, it says "Email account hasn't been set up yet".
Also, the nokia search does not work correctly if I use nokia messaging results, because it is not set up. This is very annoying because nokia search is great and I would like to use it to seach emails in my folders. If I don't look at search results from NM I can see results from messages (sms) and from Notes, but as soon as I try to look inside the NM results, immediately the Notes and sms messages results became blank.
Another irritating think about nokia email is that it gets all the email messages from IMAP servers, including those that have been marked for deletion or moved to a junk folder. There should be an option to ignore those.

  • N97 Nokia Messaging - no GUI

I've just installed nokia messaging on my N97 and doesn't have this nice GUI. Instead of it I've got just plain old list of e-mails.
    What's wrong?
I tried to uninstall and instal nokia messaging again but it didn't change anything.
What should I do to have this GUI?

    Hi Davis,
I know it will be hard for you to reply but I would like to bring in your notice about Memory issue on N97. You mentioned in your post that by default it takes 2 KB for each message. When I install it on my N97 , I have 49 MB left. It was 51 before. After that It started snycronisation and memory was dropped to 41 MB after that.
My question if your statement is correct, it cannot ideally never eat so much memory. I am forced to use MFE for mail as i can limit the days to three and i think that stores the mails on Mass memory.
    Now question is,
Would it be possible to use Nokia Messaging for us ?? Do you think wtih 10 MB used by Nokia Messaging on N97 is affordable while N97 is already a victim of Nokia negligence regarding hardware part.

  • Nokia Messaging - who do you 'really' contact?

My Nokia Messaging trial has ended and it's one of the few redeeming features of my X6. I received some emails from my network provider telling me to contact them to get reconnected permanently. In actual fact the emails come from Nokia who wrongly use their name. The network provider says Messaging is nothing to do with them and that I should contact Nokia. And, yes, Nokia say I need to talk to my network provider to get reconnected.
Does anyone know whether it is Orange (my network provider) or Nokia who should be able to sort this out? I'm getting tired of call centres.

There's a "submit feedback" menu item in Aperture itself. Use that

  • NoKia Messaging & Map 3.06 using in HKG

    Dear Nokia,
    I am still using 5800 since Nov'2009 (RM356 and v52.0.007)
    Product is good.
    Technology is OK.
After sale services were ideal though it caused tremendous pains on times & efforts spent to negotiating with your CS counterparts.
    Up to-day, I still have 2 problems.
1/ Ovi Map 3.06 - I had it updated & serviced thrice for the last 6 months,
      - Extra straight line(s) appeared and crashed during navigation after 1st and 2nd update around 2-4 months ago.
     - LCD still reboots automatically after last update thru OTA 2-days ago.
    2/ Nokia Messaging
     - When answering incoming and making outgoing calls, the phone keep delivering alerting  "beeping sound" with display "packet data is in use" during the conversations.
I stopped using Nokia Messaging since it drains battery much too fast and the battery level indicator is not showing the remaining power until the unit is power off and on again.
Breath-taking industrial design on Nokia smartphone is highly adored.
    Best regards
    stephen

    Dear adviser,
Let me brief you my experiences with Map 3.06 with 5800.
I update it when it's first available in OTA and homepage of Nokia HK( forgot the timing)
Bold horizontal line appeared on map and phone keeps rebooting.
Nokia service centre replaced the LCD screen and revert the original map 3.04 as pre-installed ( massive turnarounds)
I waited for another 2 month and update again.
Again horizontal lines and even vertical line crashing the map during navigation.
I took the phone back to Nokia service center again.  Again LCD screen was replaced.
Even the person-in-charge of the Center can't confirm if it's OK to use 3.06 in HKG given the fact that the official website of Nokia HK has published the availability of map 3.06 for months.
About couple weeks ago, I download map3.06 with much hesitations.
So far, no concurrent issues appeared.
As a general user, I felt Nokia is rather weak in optimising 5800 SW:
    handicapped of the OS chosen
Keeping delivering NEW problems to users after updates - likely due to the limit and trade-off that the OS can handle
Extremely Poor Communications between SW team with Marketing/CS Center over users experiences
1-Hour repair sucks for smartphones - Most problems come from SW
Cost of servicing is high for Nokia
Finally, I spent more than 100 hours to servicing 5800 over the year past.
I am sure I wouldn't have similar problems with iPhone even though I doubt if I can expect the same after sale services as offered by Nokia.
Both HW & SW engineers from Nokia should visit together and hear the needs from engineering, sales/marketing and even management of the retailers;  dealers, service providers etc by the doors; by the windows
