Nokia Messaging - Broken; Default Nokia email clie...

I've had the e65, e71 and now the N97.  Great phones, they just can't do email.
So, first I want to congratulate the idiot product manager at nokia that thought that removing support for IMAP IDLE in the default Nokia email client would make the Nokia messaging service successful.  That guy is definitely the BIGGEST idiot in Nokia.  Second, I'd like to congratulate the second biggest Nokia idiot, for charging for the Messaging service.  This was a chance for nokia to get on top and they totally screwed it up.  Closed platforms eventually die.  Who wants an OVI chat when you can have fring or Nimbuzz?  Not only do they charge for the instant email notifications, but also the service doesn't work.  You can't send mail through Nokia Messenger if your smtp server uses authentication and TLS.
So here's to Nokia becoming #3 and eventually disappearing...  Cheers!  The hardware's great, but there's some real idiots working for Nokia.  Luckily there's Profimail...

Thanks to your suggestions I was able to get it work.
I think it is quite confusing the way Nokia handles email. At least for me anyway. I was not aware that Nokia Email, the application on the E72 is different that Nokia Messaging, which is the online service. I thought everything that goes through Nokia Email is Nokia Messaging. It turns out that the best way to have your email on E72 is through Nokia Messaging(and to get it you need a cellular data connection; Wlan connection would not do it).
To answer your question: yes, indeed, when I manaully configured my Gmail account using the option "Other" I could also opt for syncronization "After notification", which is not any more available now that I configured my email using Nokia Messaging (on the Nokia Messaging webiste I configured my Gmail account). Now for "When to syncronize" I have: Time synchronization Off. And it works.
Again, I think Nokia should work on improving the interface for setting up an email account, making it more user friendly. Today, a very well known Symbian web writer presented his work around with Nokia Email. Not sure if he got it right though, because I tried that before and it was not working for me. Click here

  • Setting Nokia Messaging as default email

When I go to contacts, select one and then options-> send -> email the phone says that is imposible to send an email because i need to configure an account first on messaging, but the thing is that i'm ussing Nokia Messaging and I cann't figure out how to configure this. any ideas? Thanks!

I actually got this to work.  When I did the check for new firmware, the system told me I was up to date.  I reflashed the firmware anyway.  From a blank device, everything is integrated perfectly.
Whe I go the new phone, I used the  backup and restore function of Nokia PC suit to restore settings to my phone.  When I did that (with up to date firmware) I had the problems mentioned above.  I suspect then that this is an issue with the restore function, although I have not bothered to isolate the issue as I now have a working phone.
So what worked for me is:
    1) Run firmware update.
    2) Firmware update tells me my phone is up to date and asks if I want to replace the firmware anyway.  I chose yes
    3) Reflash and lose all programs, data, themes, etc.
    4) Completely set up the phone from scratch
    5) Everything works beautifully, except for the 4 hours of my life I will never get back

  • Nokia Messaging should have threaded emails

    Hi everyone,
I've been using Nokia Messaging (NM) for a year and have to deal with a great number of emails everyday. Most of them were sent from my friends in my company via "Reply To All" options. When I browse my emails by pressing N (next) and P (previous) buttons, NM will automatically scroll to the content part of the next/previous email without showing the name of the sender, and I have to scroll upwards to see the sender, that's a little bit annoy to me and waste of time.
So I hope Nokia will add the "threaded emails" option to the next update.
    Thank you!

kvoras - do you still see the 3000+ "deleted" emails in your inbox on the phone?
If you no longer see these messages, and they're still there taking up "space", then this could conceivably be a problem for us all but we just won't be aware of it until the phone runs out of flash memory...  but if we reflash our phones often enough (or never, if you're an N85 owner due to the complete lack of firmware updates - nudge nudge Nokia) it might never be a problem (although OTA firmware updates could make it more likely to occur).
And if you don't see the messages, how do you know they were the cause of the E71s crashing?
I've got my auto email delete set to 3 days, and so far it's deleting the messages - at least, they're not visible in my inbox...

  • Getting Nokia Messaging on my Nokia 2710c

    Hi
Recently got a Nokia 2710c. I got the Nokia messaging set up for my gmail account but now when I try and log in it says " nokia messaging is now available your enhanced service has expired " When I press OK and try to upgrade its says the upgrade is not available for my device.
    Any suggestions out there?
    Thanks in advance

I got a Nokia 2220 slide with the same message. This is the solution:
In Spanish: Menu / Mensajes / Mensajes de Info / Servicio de Información / Desactivar
In English must be similar to this: Menu / Settings / Info Messages / Information Services / Desactivate

  • BUG : Cannot set Nokia Messaging as default client...

    Hi,
Nokia Email  v.9.5.3.75 on Nokia E71 (firmware v300.21.012).
    Mail for Exchange v2.09.158.
I can select 'E-mail'  as default mailbox in 'messages > settings'. However when in Gallery and trying to send a picture from the list it opens Mail for Exchange client ! And when opening the picture .. and then trying to send .. it lets me choose the mailbox (that should happen in the list-view also !) .. but .. when i try to send via 'E-mail' (the default) nothing happens !
Please fix a.s.a.p. since these are pretty basic functions if you ask me that should have been tested !

  • Nokia Messaging creates mailboxes in default messa...

I have a peculiar problem since the last patch was released. I have tried to install Nokia Messaging about 5 times, and every time it ends up with creating new mailboxes in the default messaging app of my N95. After that clicking on Nokia Email icon in the apps does nothing. The mailboxes created in the default messaging app are similar to what one would create manully to retrieve email from GMail using IMAP. Needless to say push doesn't works.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    puneet

    Hello Puneet,
I and all of my friends experienced this same issue. What I did to setup the account, First i signed up for Nokia Messaging account on the email.nokia.com on my PC, and then after installing the NM Client on the phone, go to back to email.nokia.com and log in with your email address and password that you signed up with. Once logged into your account, on the left side select “Install Now” it will take you through setup wizard to send a sms, once you receive the sms then open the link in the sms, it should prompt you for your email address and password and once you log on, it should sync your mailbox and you should be able to open NM email client on the phone.

  • Removing an email account nokia messaging

    Hi,
I just wanted to share how I solved an issue with my E72 as another friend had a similar issue.
I setup my gmail account and it was a breeze setting it up and it was working properly (except when NM was down). BTW I use Roadsync for Exchange mails. My wife  wanted to check her email so I tried to add another mailbox with her credentials but NM refused to recognise it. I did a browser cache clear and then a restart. Post that I started getting all my wifes mails but not mine. Post that however many times I removed the mailbox and set it up again with my credentials I would only get my wifes mailbox. Not fun.
I logged into email.nokia.com and saw the setting - it had my name but all the folders from my wife mailbox. Looks like NM has an issue with its cache clearing (?). Anyway remove the mailbox at email.nokia.com and set mine again and presto it started working again.
Lesson learnt - the setup on the device is very spotty when it comes to changing setting so use email.nokia.com , remove the mailbox and set it up again.

You have been lucky, usually it ends up by a full hard reset plus cleanup of all Nokia Messaging setups on Nokia's site...
    Very lucky!

  • Nokia pulled Nokia messaging ?

    I have 5800xm vith v40 and i just did a hard reset.
I downloaded the Nokia Messaging V10.2 from software update and i cannot get it work.
After the installation , 2 icons were in the apps folder, one is email set up another is email.
No matter which one i click, it will send me to email setup process and this setup process will add an email account to "messaging Folder " but not "nokia email client"
I am not able to use the same "Nokia Messaging" email client as the one before the hard reset.
    Anyone know what happened?
I tried to download nokia messaging from ovi store, email.nokia.com, messaging.nokia.com

It's a worry. The fact is that Nokia can't write good software, at least not so one piece integrates with the rest.
I had the same thing happen so I just use the "E-mail" client inside the default messaging suite, it is primitive but it works fine. I got sick of the idiotic Email setup wizard firing up each time I turned the phone on so I simply deleted it!!! This got rid of the non-functional "Email" client at the same time. Of course, I can't add another mailbox without reinstalling the default email wizard but I don't need to, the one I created with it earlier continues to work fine in the messaging suite.
I don't like the idea of Nokia's new messaging product, I believe that they are caching your email accounts on their own servers and drip feeding them to you when you sync to them. This is NOT the way open software is supposed to work Nokia! This is the Google technique of owning your content! Bad direction guys!
Bearing the above in mind, the only decent solution is to use a quality 3rd party email client. I haven't found a good enough one yet, but there has to be one just around the corner. Perhaps another reader has a suggestion?

    Dear Nokia Messaging customer,
Recently, our email service has been unable to connect to your email service provider, preventing email delivery to your phone.
This may occur due to one of the following reasons:
    1. Through your service provider, you have changed the email password of your email address. If so, you must update your Nokia Messaging service account with your new password. Email messages will then be delivered to your phone.
    2. The server for your email address is down. For more information, contact your service provider.
    3. You might have inadvertently changed a setting in your Nokia Messaging service account. Log in to your Nokia Messaging account on the website ******** NOKIA EMAIL ACCOUNT LINK******** to determine whether your information needs to be updated.

  • Nokia Messaging causes N97 to reboot/switch off?

    Hi Guys,
I've noticed there are some people who are running 12.0.24 firmware here who claim that their Nokia N97 'is working fine with no issues at all'.
My question to you is are any of you people who have no reboot/turning off problems running Nokia Messaging (latest version)? Why I ask is I am sure that it may have something to do with Nokia Messaging but I have to rule out what others are running.
Are you guys all using the built-in e mail client? I have switched across to that now, my reboots have not happened since but GOD the built-in client is an awful experience having been a long time user of Nokia Messaging, particularly that I now no longer can read HTML.
    Help!

The Nokia Messaging is purely for email so if your not fussed with Email then no need to use it. Essentially your email looks identical to how it would look using a PC. So all HTML emails with pictures, fancy images, complex layout etc, comes out exactly on your phone as it would on a PC.
The built in client feels prehistoric actually compared to that but funny thing is Im nearly 24 hours now with no reboot since I removed the messaging client....

  • Nokia Messaging - N97

I recently received the below email from Nokia Messaging.  My email has now stopped working on my phone and i am unable to send or receive.  I have not changed my password with hotmail (email provider).  The server is fine as i am able to get my emails on any PC.  I have not changed any settings on my nokia account.
I am at a loss at what i can do to sort this issue out.  It was all working fine and i cant see a reason for it to stop.
I have reinstalled the application to my phone, just to rule out any software glitches.
    HELP!!
Log in to your Nokia Messaging account on the website http://netac6.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account to determine whether your information needs to be updated.
    Sincerely,
    The Nokia Messaging Team
received this email from Nokia Messaging:

    Hi,
I had the same problem and after about 24hours it just started wotking again.
I think it was to do with my email account or internet provider not Nokia Messaging as my outlook on pc had the same problem.
Annoying i know but just wait i guess, uninstalling/reinstalling did not help by the way.

  • Nokia Messaging Deleting Messages Locally

    Hi
    1.  Nokia's Messaging Website shows that we can delete the messages locally (only on the handset), ( http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/nokia-e75/nokia-e75-how-to/email/ma... ) but this is not possible on my New E75 Hand set, is this a Handset related issue or something wrong with Nokia Messaging:
    2. Nokia Messaging is good, to a certain extent it not stable, Emailing hangs many a times in a day.
    3. Some times you can't delete the emails.

I have been playing around with the Email because I have noticed the same problems on my N85 with regaurds to deleting emails. I noticed that I could only delete the emails if they had the @ symbol lit up which means you have 'retrieved' the email to your phone. You can not delete the list of emails, only delete the 'retrieved' emails off of your phone... Anything else I find I will post, I really want to get ride of this 400+ list on my phone...

  • Gmail and nokia messaging client - 5800

I've had my 5800 for a couple of weeks now and when I got it I set up my gmail account with the built in email client under messaging.  Everything was working fine.  Since yesterday I have not been able to get any new emails to show up on my phone.  I've deleted and re-added the mail box and old messages show up and I can view older emails but no new ones?  I've checked all of my gmail settings, and I do in fact have new emails sitting there but no joy.
    Any ideas?
    Adam

I don't use nokia messaging, find the standard email client works faultlessly and also use the MSN app which gives me a hotmail box just like computer. I removed Nokia Messaging as I prefer the extra space on C. Good Luck
