Nokia Messaging & E71

1. Installed latest Nokia Messaging (Push email service).
2. When I go in "Contacts" menu, in contextual menu "Send Email" nothing happens. With the built-in email I could send email from "Contacts" but not with Nokia Messaging.
(this is the contextual menu I'm reffering - image taken from User Manual)
Questions:
1. Is there a setting I missed?
2. It's a bug in Nokia Messaging?
3. It's a weak integration with Nokia E71 main OS?
Thank you and I apologise for my English - i'm in begginers class

Firstly, I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly: I cant see you picture: what exactly do you do to get to contextual menu "Send Email" and in which application is that: NM or Contacts?
What firmware do you have ?
I have 200.21.118 and the latest Nokia Messaging and MFE and it works fine.
When inside the contacts application, select a contact: now there are 2 ways:
1. Go into the contact, Here again there are two options:
a) select a  non email fieldptions/Create message/Email: all email accounts of the contact are listed, select one, then you will have the option to select any email address to send from: it will show Email (default) and your MFE email account if you have one.
b) select an email field: it will show email addresses you can send from : Email (default) and your MFE email account if you have one.
2. Select Send/Email: you will have the option to select any email addresses to send from: either from MFE or Nokia Messaging
Default email can be set in Nokia Messaging / Settings / General

Hello, i created my account on email.nokia.com and installed the nokia messaging program. When i ran the software for the first time it asked me what was my email address (i saw a video where you get a list of the services available with the icon) and when i putted [email protected] it did created a new account using the old nokia email software (the one that comes with the phone)... reinstalled and still have the same issue... what could i be doing wrong?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Try
    Menu>installations>email
This is what i did and asks me for email and password... then it promps for the outgoing mail server (and gives me one option smpt.ovi.com) and then add's a new account to the old email app
You have definitely set up your account at http://email.nokia.com ? Via a PC?
Yes i did set it up via PC and added two accounts, ovi and gmail
What version of the software are you using? Should be (9.06.(12)) for E71
I do have lastest version as i downloaded today from email.nokia.com via nokia internet browser, clicked button get now and then download

  • [E71-1] Nokia messaging not sync even after firmwa...

    Hi all,
For the past 3 months, my Nokia messaging is not SYNC automatically again from my Nokia E71-1.
Yesterday I tried to firmware upgrade my E71-1 (to latest firmware ver 410.21.010); and install Nokia Messaging from OVI store.
And then after 1st sync, all my emails coming back up (which is great); but then I have to sync manually to get the latest email.
Currently I have 5 emails account inside my Nokia messaging account (they are 2xGmail, Yahoo and other 2 from my local ISP).
Plan: Nokia Messaging - operator subscriber
    Subscription status Active
    My server settings:
    - Server name: netac5.vie.hosting.no... (unable to read the rest text)
    - Send and Receive: Soonest (I've changed to "every 15 minutes"; still the email not sync'ed automatically)
Is this issue because I have 5 email accounts checked by my Nokia Messaging?
    Thanks

I found a solution that works for my E71-1 (client 9.7.0.2). It's quite simple: In the Option menu of your Nokai email application - that is where you can see the buttons for all email accounts plus the SYNC button etc. - you should see an 'go online' or 'go offline' command (in German 'online gehen' or 'offline gehe'. After toggling this command from 'go online' to 'go offline' which will turn you on line, you can see the sync icon in the header line to go PERMANENTLY to sync status. It will sync every minute or so depending on your settings.
I can't believe it, that this is the solution after all the time I spent looking for it.

  • E71 with Nokia Messaging but not pushmail.

    Hello
excuse me but i'm french and my english is medium.
So, i have a E71 and i installed since 1 month a soft of messaging with a real push mail (a beta version).
But i delete involuntarily the soft and i don't remenber this name.
And today i downloaded and installed Nokia Messaging.
Apparently, this soft is not a push mail. I can only adjust the synchronization that all the 30min.Is it normal?
And the presentation to the screen is different than on the Nokia web.
    thank you for your answers.
    roro

    Thank you
But i think Nokia Messaging bad installed because i have not this set. I have only "intervalle connexion" 6h, 4h, 2h 1h and 30min.
Often i had the possibility to modify this setting but here, it is different. ??????
I have the sensation to have the simple version of the e-mail of Nokia.
It is bizarre but in Menu, Installations, i have 2 icons @.
one icon @ Config.Mess and one icon @ Email.
When i press on the first one, i have access to the creation for a new adress mail.
When i press on @ Email, there is nothing.
    there is a problem, no?

  • E71 Nokia messaging....sent items do not appear in...

OK, i have an E71 with Nokia messaging install. Generally it works fine however, the other day i needed to refer back to a recently sent email only to discover that my sent box was empty. I immediately sent an email to one of my other accounts, just to check. It moved straight into my out box, once sent it totally disappeared and once again my sent box was empty.
Has anyone got any ideas why this happens? i've checked all the settings and there does not appear to be option "save sent emails" etc
    Thanks in advance

    hi,
Same for me. Nothing in the sent items at all.

  • E71 & Nokia Messaging

    Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my Nokia Messaging.
I can login via the web site (on PC) but I can not get on via cellphone.
When I try connect, it gives me a error: "Login unsuccessful, please try again" and has been doing this for a while now.
I even removed the program and redownloaded it (newer version) but it's still buggered.
    Thanks!
    Proudly South African.

    Hi there,
I brought an e71 a couple of days ago and was/am having the same problem. I tried nokia care, the level one support couldnt solve the problem. After a few hours of calling (I had to call back a few times because I was busy and couldn't spend more than 30 mins talking on the phone) I finally got through to level two support. Unfortunately I had been on the phone with level one support for 1.5hrs by then and my cordless phone run out of batteries just as the level two support was instructing me to do a soft reset. Anyway, after some more research on the web I tried emoze (a free push email app that works on the E71). I've had it running for  a few hours and so far it is great, I have set up two accounts both get notifications on the homescreen, and a nice big message appears telling me I've got mail when a mail comes in. This is just what I wanted. It was really easy to configure and I had the whole thing going in 10 mins (including testing to see if it worked and configuring the E71 to show email notifications on the home screen), really just to set up my gmail account it took less than a min. I don't curse the day I decided to buy the E71 over the iphone now. I suggest you give it a go too, I'm just so happy at the moment.

  • E71, Nokia Messaging, Homescreen, Sub-folder & Not...

Ever since I updated to the latest version of nokia messaging (1.0 build9.2.3.396) I lost funcitonality regarding subfolders and notifications.
I still receive mail correctly in the subfolders, however I do not get any notification, nor does it show up on the homescreen. Previous versions of Nokia messaging did have this functionality. Can i turn this feature on somewhere, or has it been removed?

Hi there, you mentioned you just updated to the latest version of NM 1.0. It is strange I just updated to NM 2.2 and I have no problem with that. I will recommend that while you have NM 1.0 installed on your phone, go to email.nokia.mobi and download the NM software and see if you get the latest version NM 2.2. Once upgraded to the latest version NM 2.2, you may have to log into your NM account on your PC at email.nokia.com and select "Install Now" to send the SMS to your phone, open the sms and open the link, this will prompt you to enter your main email address and password and it will sync all your mailboxes to you NM client.

  • E71 not starting nokia messaging but mailbox setup...

I've recently reset my phone to factory settings (everything - code *#7370#), and the first next thing I did is reinstall nokia messaging by visiting email.nokia.com through my mobile web browser, only to find that starting the pink "@" Email or Email setup wizard, i get plain old email mailbox/account setup wizard for regular built-in mailbox.
I've managed to install everything successfully just a couple of days earlier, when the phone was v300, and now after updating to v400 everything just fails.
    Please help

    Thank you

  • I updated my firmware on E71 - now nokia messaging...

Hi everyone - first post. Just updated my RM-357 to firmware 200.21.118 and reinstalled nokia messaging. so i have 6 or 7 imap accounts from my own domain, as well as a single gmail account in nokia messaging. it synched fine with the gmail account, but for some reason wont synch at all to my domain accounts. the inboxes are blank, wont even download old messages. looking in the log, it doesnt show any synch errors. ive been thinking about deleting the accounts in nokia messaging.
i almost wonder if nokia messaging is messed up right now. im on server netac4.vie.hosting.nokia.com and if i try to add or edit an account if i can get it to work at all it just hangs and says 'Unable to connect to the server. Please try again later.' i don thtink its on my email server end, as it happens with different accounts from different hosts. all my other email clients have no problems whatsoever connecting to my various mail servers.
    any help? thanks!

The iOS on the iPad is 6.1 not 11. iTunes 11 is the new version of iTunes.
The error message tells me that I can't update with my US account. I have only a Cdn acct. did the new upgrade cause my acct to become a US acct? How do I get back my Cdn acct?
Now - which upgrade are you talking about? If you updated the iPad in the U.S. - yes it could switch to the U.S. store on the iPad. Can't update what with the U.S. account?
Why don't you explain a little more clearly what you did.

  • E72 'Add to my Nokia Messaging account' VS Create ...

    Hi,
When adding an email account such as GMAIL my Nokia E72 gives me 2 options:
Add to my Nokia Messaging account
Create a separate mailbox that uses manual delivery
Again, this is an UI improvement: There is no contextual help or information regarding both options...
What are the pros and cons of using either options? Also, Vodafone proposer a similar application to connect to my mail accounts, do you know if it is any better?
    Thanks,
    Yvsn

There is no cost for using Nokia Messaging. It does say that it is a trial version but unofficially it appears it will be a never ending trial, and anyway you won't suddenly get charged for using it.
You can use NM and Exchange and any other email clients at the same time although NM may say you already have software to receive mail but just select yes and it will carry on with the set up. You can set it to autostart or manual. I use 'Email on 3' push software but have identical accounts set up in NM which I can manually start and it will download the same emails - I use it if I need or want to see the email using html which '3' doesn't at the moment.

  • Questions on Nokia Messaging (uploading sent email...

    Hi all,
    I have a few questions on Nokia Messaging;
Does it connect to (non-Exchange)  email servers via imap idle?
When I send an email, can it be uploaded to the 'Sent' folder in my email server?
When I delete an email from my Nokia, can the email be deleted from the server as well?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    1) No, even though the specs state otherwise. You may only have it pull Mails every 5 Minutes, or have them pushed using Nokia Messaging Service. Quite some disappointed customers hope this will change in the future, but I don't believe in it, because I feel nokia wants to force one to use their push service.
    2) No, at least not automatic. Of course you can sync your sent items folder and manually move your sent messages there from your local(on your phone)sent items folder, but that is not very efficient.
    3) Yes
Mort, a happy E71 and not so happy E72 owner/user.

  • Open letter to Nokia Messaging dev team: imap idle...

    Hi,
I would like to ask the developers of Nokia Messaging if they are aware of the fact themailclient in the E72 isn't supporting Imap IDLE anymore.
Before, in the E71 for example, there was indeed a timesetting in the native client BUT this was used when the client got disconnected. for example:client connected > phonecall arrives, client disconnects > phonecall ends > client connects after 5 minutes (or any other timespan accoridng to the settings) and STAYS connected.
Nokia Messaging: if you set it up at 5 minutes it checks every 5 minutes for mail. This is NOT 'idling' on a server. 'Idle' means in this case 'stay connected, just sit there and wait for messages')
the specs on your site CLEARLY state for the E72:
Supported protocols: IMAP4 (with idle), Nokia Messaging, Microsoft ActiveSync, POP3, SMTP
This means that the product that i have bought IS NOT DOING what you promise. I could probably solve with start using Nokia Messaging but this and was never my intention. I just the phone to do what it is supposed to do: imap idle without the use of Nokia Messaging as stated in its specs (as it was before by the way).
    WOULD APPRECIATE AN ANSWER!
Called Nokia support in Belgium. No answer from them.

We are far from being Nokia enemies. If anything, we are giving them free feedback. In corporate circles, concerned companies pay millions of bucks to the likes of Pricewaterhouse, etc to do strategic consulting, ie to tell them what really is right or wrong with their company, products, etc. In the new millenium, the internet and tools such as forums provide similar service, only at a fraction of the cost and a damningly honest one too!
My take on the matter is this: sure Nokia staff are reading these forums and laughing at us 'idiots'. The 'noise-makers' are few and far between. Nokia also has their die-hard fans (some people have never used any of the advanced features on their phones so would know little) as well as their own 'plants' (ppl who are Nokia employees tasked with dropping feel-good stories in various threads. I've done enough corporate consulting to know this ;-)
The same person who was supporting Nokia in this thread also had an extended argument with me in the afore-mentioned thread. Some people think someone having 300 odd contacts is a power-user (I have in excess of 1,300 contacts, 90% current and active). Some people questioned my desired to be able to snooze an alarm for a user defined period (that Nokia lover accused me for wanting "more bells & whistles than Fort Knox").
The last example is something simple that can implemented. My Palm circa 2003 had that feature. Say if an alarm sounds for a set event, but you are still in a meeting/busy, wouldn't it be gud to be able to snooze the alarm for a specified period, say 40 mins? At the moment, the E72 only lets you set ONE global snooze period which applies for all alarms.
The way I see it Nokia with its so-called business series of devices have 2 probs - (1) it has many bugs and high-end features that do no work as promoted / advertised, and (2) it lacks many simple features that cheaper/older phones have. Can't be too difficult for those Finns to decipher this, can it??
And what would happen to Nokia? Well, I think its getting so big headed in recent times that its alienating a lot of serious / old-time fans. In todays market, there is great variety of choice. If one is to get buggy and ill-designed products anyway then why pay premium dollars for a Finnish lemon when you can settle for a similar lemon (and at times with almost enuff bells & whistles to challenge Fort Knox) from say China, at a fraction of the price. And to think that many of these Chinese clones today ship with dual SIM capability as well as a (fuzzy no doubt) TV monitor!
My advice to folks out there, please do buy a Nokia if you are in the market for a cheap, no-frills phone to be used as a spare phone or on those mountain camping trips when a gud flashlight is required. But if you are looking for a serious BIZNESS SMARTPHONE, the E72 is definately not it. Still love you, darling!
There ought to be laws out there on the use of the term 'smartphone'

  • What went wrong with Nokia Messaging?

What went wrong with Nokia Messaging?
In the beginning of this year I used Nokia Messaging on E71 and I really loved it!
Since this autumn I am using it on my new N97 and I am confronted with totally different experience:
    - the application is very slooooow..
    - its unreliable - very ofter emails arrive with hours delay, a sync may take up to minutes
    - its very very buggy - truncated icons, diplay randomly jumping up and down, when scrolling.
    - very bad HTML display of emails - tiny (unreadable) default font and no wrap to screen when zooming - I thought emails were for reading?
    - many, many usability issues
I just cannot believe it - How has Nokia managed to convert once such a good piece of software into such incredible disaster?
Recently an update was published - I tried it immediately... To my big disappointment it contains all the same bugs and introduces new ones..
How is this possible? What is happening at Nokia?

Also my N86 as the same problem.
And in global setting Nokia deleted the option to read always in HTML.
And there is not any option to write html Mails
