Nokia Messaging New Release Sync interval again ve...

I´m very glad to see the actual release of Nokia Messaging, but as soon as I´ve installed in my E71 device I were very sad to see that nothing changed on sync intervals. I didn´t understand why nokia messaging has intervals like "2 Month", I´m not quite sure who sync his emails every 2 months´?????
1 hour is too long, and push email needs to much energy, additional for some account push didn´t work. Hoepfully the developer could change the intervals at least to 15 minute too!!!
It would be very easy to change for development and a big help I think for many users!!!

If you're experiencing bad battery life, it's much more likely that it's because you're using your device more often in turning it on to check and send emails that you're getting via push delivery.
The amount of power that it takes to maintain the push connection is much, much lower than the amount of energy it takes to power the screen and run operations while you're using the device. And yes, we've done tests that determined it was more efficient to have "soonest" be the delivery option than to have it be every 15 minutes, thus, those are the options.
I'm not denying that it has an effect on the battery life, but it's a causal relationship.

  • E63 + Nokia Messaging + IMAP = Not Syncing Sent

**I originally posted this in the E Series forum, and decided to repost it here as it was more appropriate**
I recently downloaded Nokia Email Messaging, and I am loving the push email.  However, I realised today that none of the emails I am sending from my phone are being synced to the IMAP sent folder, instead are being put in a Sent folder on the phone.  I have told it to sync sent emails, drafts, and inbox.
Can you please help me with this.  If I can't sync my sent emails so I can see them on my laptop as well via IMAP (webmail), then I will revert back to using ProfiMail.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan.

I have the same problem, mine on an E66. I send messages from an IMAP account on Nokia Messaging and the message goes in the Nokia Messaging Sent folder, but this is not sync'd with my email server Sent Items folder.
I even tried selecting the Sent Items folder as one to be sync'd on the Nokia Messaging website (edit settings), but this still didn't make any difference.
I even then tried Moving the messages from the Nokia Messaging Sent folder to the mapped Sent Items folder on the E66, then sync'd again, but still they won't appear on the server Sent Items folder.
I think what Nokia need to add is an option similar to the one on the Outlook configuration where you can select where sent items go - either to the default Outlook folder, or to a specific IMAP folder.

  • Nokia Messaging error when sync: "Unable to perfor...

    Hi everybody,
I've just moved from Vodafone to Simyo. Since I changed the sim card in my N97 mini, every time I try to synchronize my Yahoo or  Gmail account through my 3G connection (no problem through WiFi) all I get is an "Unable to perform operation" error.
The rest of internet services (MfE contacts-sync, apps, browser, gps, etc) work like a charm through either 3G or WiFi connection.
My firmware is the last one (v30.0.016). I uninstalled all applications and made a hard-reset to start from scratch. The first thing I did was to config Nokia Messaging with no different results...
I need mail service in my cell and I can't be depending on a WiFi connection to perform mail operations... so if there is no solution within sight I'll have to consider to get rid of this (otherwise) great mobile phone.
    Thank you all in advance,
    Manuel O.M. (Spain)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but when I have problems switching to a different SIM card, I send a SMS to the provider, who sends back a "service message" which automatically sets all the internal connection settings. This almost always seems to work.

  • [E71-1] Nokia messaging not sync even after firmwa...

    Hi all,
For the past 3 months, my Nokia messaging is not SYNC automatically again from my Nokia E71-1.
Yesterday I tried to firmware upgrade my E71-1 (to latest firmware ver 410.21.010); and install Nokia Messaging from OVI store.
And then after 1st sync, all my emails coming back up (which is great); but then I have to sync manually to get the latest email.
Currently I have 5 emails account inside my Nokia messaging account (they are 2xGmail, Yahoo and other 2 from my local ISP).
Plan: Nokia Messaging - operator subscriber
    Subscription status Active
    My server settings:
    - Server name: netac5.vie.hosting.no... (unable to read the rest text)
    - Send and Receive: Soonest (I've changed to "every 15 minutes"; still the email not sync'ed automatically)
Is this issue because I have 5 email accounts checked by my Nokia Messaging?
    Thanks

I found a solution that works for my E71-1 (client 9.7.0.2). It's quite simple: In the Option menu of your Nokai email application - that is where you can see the buttons for all email accounts plus the SYNC button etc. - you should see an 'go online' or 'go offline' command (in German 'online gehen' or 'offline gehe'. After toggling this command from 'go online' to 'go offline' which will turn you on line, you can see the sync icon in the header line to go PERMANENTLY to sync status. It will sync every minute or so depending on your settings.
I can't believe it, that this is the solution after all the time I spent looking for it.

  • Nokia Messaging, 3 Days Hardcoded!!!

    Hi all,
I'm trying to change the 3 days limit in Nokia messaging -> "What to sync" -> "Inbox" -> "Remove older than" option, but I always get: Settings can not be changed!
Now, I tried offline mode, and almost every other combinations but with no success.
I've read that in older versions you could change it, but as a new feature, they hard coded it to 3 day !!!! wth
This is really irritating, does someone has a hack for this? I don't mind modifying the hex values in the application configurations, but at least point me to the right file.
    Device: N97
    Messaging version: 10.1.0.24 (main)
    Thank you,

    Dear adviser,
Let me brief you my experiences with Map 3.06 with 5800.
I update it when it's first available in OTA and homepage of Nokia HK( forgot the timing)
Bold horizontal line appeared on map and phone keeps rebooting.
Nokia service centre replaced the LCD screen and revert the original map 3.04 as pre-installed ( massive turnarounds)
I waited for another 2 month and update again.
Again horizontal lines and even vertical line crashing the map during navigation.
I took the phone back to Nokia service center again.  Again LCD screen was replaced.
Even the person-in-charge of the Center can't confirm if it's OK to use 3.06 in HKG given the fact that the official website of Nokia HK has published the availability of map 3.06 for months.
About couple weeks ago, I download map3.06 with much hesitations.
So far, no concurrent issues appeared.
As a general user, I felt Nokia is rather weak in optimising 5800 SW:
    handicapped of the OS chosen
Keeping delivering NEW problems to users after updates - likely due to the limit and trade-off that the OS can handle
Extremely Poor Communications between SW team with Marketing/CS Center over users experiences
1-Hour repair sucks for smartphones - Most problems come from SW
Cost of servicing is high for Nokia
Finally, I spent more than 100 hours to servicing 5800 over the year past.
I am sure I wouldn't have similar problems with iPhone even though I doubt if I can expect the same after sale services as offered by Nokia.
Both HW & SW engineers from Nokia should visit together and hear the needs from engineering, sales/marketing and even management of the retailers;  dealers, service providers etc by the doors; by the windows

  • N97 / Gmail / Nokia Messaging - temporary solution

Hi, Was having the same problems as a lot of people with Nokia messaging only occasionally syncing with gmail or simply not syncing at all.
I've found a temporary solution which is working great.
I've set up an email account with my ISP (hopefully you have a spare to use ro can maybe try a different free server) [email protected] and set gmail to forward all incoming email to this new address while keeping email in the gmail inbox.
I've now set nokia messaging to use my new email address - I now have emails arriving constantly.
Not a fix just a workaround I know.
My gut feeling is there is some intrinsic problem between Nokia and Gmail that is affecting some accounts that needs to be fixed. I hope it happens. I'd love to be able to simply connect to my gmail account and have it working.
    Cheers Mick

  • Yahoo email not syncing with Nokia messaging - Pre...

I have been using nokia messaging beta version for approximately 3 weeks and it has worked perfectly for all my e-mail Yahoo and Gmail. As of yesterday my Yahoo (free) e-mail stopped syncing e-mails. I went to the website email.nokia.com and checked my password but I receive the following message when trying to update the password: "Unable to connect with the password provided. Please try again.". Please note I have not changed my password I was only trying make sure everything was correct.
My Gmail seems to still work but no Yahoo. I have gone as far as deleting all my accounts on the phone and deleting Nokia email software via the app installer and reinstalled NOkia email. The phone synced my accounts setting them up and syncing all the messages up until yesterday which is exactly when it stopped working. I'm at a loss at this point. I'm also unable to delete the yahoo account on email.nokia.com website since its my default acct. Any ideas??
Could it be a yahoo issue? Anybody else have this issue?

    Found these on another site:

I have been using the Nokia email client on my E90 for the last few days. Today Yahoo mail started giving me a problem. Whenever I send an email I am getting a Delivery Status Notification (failure)
    535 authorization failes (#5.7.0)
I went in to my email.nokia account just to re-enter the password for my yahoo account, and now I even that is throwing the following error “Unable to connect with the password provided. Please try again.”
Is there some problem connecting to Yahoo?
I am able to log on to this yahoo account on my PC and send and recieve mails without any issue.
    Thanks,
    Amar

This is really bad. I have tried and installed Nokia Email countless times. But it refuses to sync, I don’t even receive error messages. I have even tried to log on to emai.nokia.com to check and reset my account settings.
Solution for now; I have installed Profimail, it works like a dream. Downside is that it does not sync my Gmail contacts and I think the Nokia interface looks better.
I will continue to keep an eye on any new patches/versions of Nokia Email but as of today, this software should never have been allowed to graduate. Let alone even thinking of charging people for it.

  • Nokia Messaging - Setup New Google Apps Mail Suppo...

Nokia announced today that they are supporting Google Apps hosted mail accounts. I tried signing up with my Google Apps hosted mail and it couldn't connect. I'm not sure how I tell it that its a hosted domain.
All I had the option to do was to input my email address "[email protected]" and it couldn't connect to it.
What do I have to do to get the new support to work?
    Thanks in advance,

you may need to set up your email for manual sync, rather then through nokia messaging.

here is a link to an explaination. it looks as though you are not doing anything wrong persay, but the e72 did have a bum firmware release and had some email challenges from the getgo on the first release.

  • Nokia Messaging 1.2.2 has been released!

A new Nokia Messaging release (version 1.2.2) became available on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010.  Please go to http://email.nokia.com on your device to download the latest version of the client.  Note, if you are using the multiprotocol (built-in) client, no update is needed (E52, E55, E72, E75, 6710, 6730, N86 8MP).
Here are the highlights of this release:
    Automatic consolidation of multiple accounts:
Nokia Messaging will automatically consolidate accounts when the user adds an email address that belongs to another Nokia Messaging account. In previous releases, the user would be rejected when adding a new email address to the Nokia Messaging account during setup. Now, the user may continue to setup their account and the new email address will be added to the account being configured.
    Password handling simplification:
This release of Nokia Messaging now always aligns the Nokia Messaging password with the Email Service Provider (ESP) password. Users can now simply enter either their Nokia Messaging password or their current ESP password during authentication. If the authentication succeeds and their Nokia Messaging password is different from the ESP password, the account will be updated and the current ESP password will become the Nokia Messaging account password.  If users forget the ESP password, they must go to the ESP to retrieve it. As such, the Nokia Messaging web site (email.nokia.com) no longer includes a Forgot Password function.
    On-device email retention:
The device now retains 30 days of emails or up to 100 emails (whichever comes first). Also, the Sent Items and Draft folders as well as the subfolders retain 30 days of emails or up to 50 emails (whichever comes first).
    Destination feature available on the Nokia S60 5.0 touch devices (X6, N97, N97 mini, 5800, 5530 and 5230):
Nokia Messaging can now automatically switch to WiFi internet access when it is available. Using the device’s Destinations feature, users simply add their favorite WiFi access points to the Internet Destination (or any other Destination that they configure), and Nokia Messaging will automatically switch to it when it is available. Initial setup must still be done with a valid network SIM in the device so that Nokia Messaging can validate the user’s service eligibility. With the new Tools menu item Access point, users can define a different destination to be used or even specify a fixed APN for special cases when a Destination is not appropriate.

    Dear Nokia people,
I'm new to S60. I bought last week an XM 5800. Wich I'm liking pretty much. However, I think there is room for improvement in email handling. I'm just saying this as a user who knows things could be better.
Here's my case. I want to be able to view my gmail from my cell phone automatically. Wich sounds simple if it can be checked manually whenever I want (making that process automatic). But it isn't.
    I've tried two methods:
    1) Messaging
This creates an account and everything works great if you do it manually. When I try to set it up to get my mail I can either do one of two things under "Automatic Retrieval":
E-mail notifications, wich I'm assuming uses the IDLE funcionality. I've tried this option with both possibilities, "Auto-update" or "Only in home network". This only works when I have that inbox connected wich is a good idea since it's generating traffic (costly) and using connection (worse battery life). Maybe there could be an option, if a user wanted it, to keep the connection opened even if the program gets closed, wich would make good use of IDLE and not being annoyed by the warning about exiting the app and closing connection.
E-mail retrieval, this function seems to work, for about 1500 messages, then the phone becomes reaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow. This function should have some more options like retrieving only a certain number of mails AND only that certain number. What I'm saying here is that the phone should only handle for instance the last 50 mails and drop the rest, so if I have 50 mails and a new one arrives, the last one doesn't appear anymore (on the server yes, on the phone no). This would make the application run really smoothly and the phone would not freeze.
Even if this idea doesn't get implemented, at least make the option of Number of mails to be retrieved configurable under this mode, wich under this mode is ALL.
    2) MfE
With MfE, I'm able to sync my calendar, nice. And, even if on the google sync site it says the don't suppor the email sync, it works with my mail. So I set up MfE to every 15 minutes to get my mail. This is the option I'm using right now because I don't have to be constantly updating my inbox or leave the connection opened.
The catch is that for this method to work, you have to forget about dividing mails into different carpets with filters in Gmail, I had to eliminate the "skip inbox" setting in the filters that worked with the mail I wanted to receive on my XM 5800. But I guess is a good solution until I find another.
So, in conclusion. It would be very nice to be able to set an IMAP account, like gmail to automatically (every certain amount of time) retrieve a certain number of mails and to keep the inbox with that quantity. Or, at least be able to configure how many mails the inbox should retrieve.
I hope this helps. If this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize and please direct me to where this should go.
    Cheers from Chile

I have installed the newest version (10.1.0.13) on my N97 (fw. v11) in the beginning of this week. I use a Google Apps email account. My first impression was positive but after few days of using it I bumped into several very irritating problems / bugs:
The display of HTML messages is completely useless for me. Most emails appear with very tiny font. Of course I can zoom in, but then no wrapping / fit-to-screen is performed on the text which means that I have to scroll each single line horizontally. It drives me crazy!
I configured the client to synchronize once per hour. I noticed that synchronization takes very, very long time – sometimes even 20 minutes! Also when I synchronize manually it takes often minutes to synchronize.
Sometimes after viewing HTML emails the client does not disconnect – the data connection is left open forever. I have to close it manually.
Emails arrive regularly with large delay.
The HTML emails (from the same newsletter sender) appear sometimes with and sometimes without images (only the broken link icon is show). There is no option like download images.
The synchronization icon on top of the screen in portrait mode is truncated / not visible.
Each time I encountered these problems I run Profimail to find out that there was no problem with Gmail or the emails!
Further I have some general UI design / usability remarks:
Why waste the screen with these large black buttons on the right hand site? Especially now with HTML display it would be much better to see emails full screen
There is no mailbox overview screen like in the S60 3 version (on my old E71) so emails arriving in secondary mailboxes are easily unnoticed
Why not make a synchronize button somewhere (for example re-use the sync icon on the top). Now each time I want to sync, I have to go to the option menu, scroll down,  select send/receive. Very, very unhandy!

  • How (and where) can I create a new Nokia Messaging...

    Hi,
I just got a new E7 which I am currently pretty happy with, however when I go to email.nokia.com I only see a log-in form for the existing customers. Where can new users register and how can I do it? I can see that there is a Nokia Mail by Yahoo, but cannot find anything useful about push-mail there.
(Added later)I have successfully added a Google mail as a push mail to my phone and it IS WORKING,but I would like to add also our mail server but I cannot (I get a message that the password is wrong however it isn't since I can add the mailbox as POP3). After reading a lot of tutorials I SHOULD be able to log in to email.nokia.com with the first push-mail login credentials (in my case of google mail), however I get an error when trying to do so.
    TIA,
    Matej

    Hi justme123,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums!
Nokia Messaging account should be automatically created when you add a new mailbox to your email client.  All account management and configuration are handled within the Nokia Messaging clients on the Nokia device. If you want to have Nokia Mail account, please see here.
To set up Hotmail or Gmail in Exchange ActiveSync, perform the following steps:
Go to the Mail application and select New mailbox.
    Preparing for setup is displayed.
    Select Exchange ActiveSync.
Enter your email address, password, username and domain.
    Connecting server is displayed.
Enter the server name when requested.
For Gmail Setup use the following values:
User Name: full email address (for example [email protected])
    Domain: google
    Mail for Exchange server: m.google.com
    Hope this helps,

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.
