Nokia Messaging troubles with gmail (N900)

Hi,
I'm using Nokia Messaging on my N900 updated to PR1.2 -- however sync is very problematic.
 Full details at http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=53630
In summary
 * Are there any known issues with syncing against a large gmail inbox (2500+ msgs) in this code
 * What criteria does NM use to decide what messages to leave on device
 * Are there any NM service issues currently with gmail that are resulting in slow updates
Thanks
Nigel.

Got same problem with the syncing Inbox folder @ gmail, other folders sync fine. No errors in sync log.
Reinstall, remove-add gmail account on messaging website doesn't fix the issue. Google Gmail app works and fetches everything.
Phone: E71
App: Nokia Messaging email build: 9.6.0.24
Maybe this is somehow connected with: http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/default-https-access-for-gmail.html ?
Please advice!

Within recent days, I'm having trouble using Gmail on my Firefox 2.0.0.2 browser. The trouble involves deleting SPAM and Trash, and loading mail received. The error message I get is "Oops -- We encountered a problem (#010)." The browser is installed on my Titanium Laptop, which is running Mac OSX 10.3.2.

No, Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever release for Mac OSX 10.3.9 and earlier versions. Get it here: <br />

  • Is anyone else having trouble with gmail since last ios 6 update?

I used to have no trouble with my email on my ipad. Since the latest update, I'm not able to send and sometimes not able to receive gmail. In the past, I used the ipad's built-in mail and it worked fine. Then, when that got buggy, I tried the gmail app for ipad. That works for a short period of time and then that's having the same problems: can't send email, and takes forever to connect with gmail server.
Does anyone else have this problem? I have no trouble with my phone (not an iphone) or my imac.
This is really problematic for me as I use my ipad primarily for email.
    Thanks,
    Bob

adding to the confusion, is now mail isn't accepting my username/password.... never seen an apple app fail this badly before...

  • Trouble with Gmail Syncing with Mail

    Hello,
I am getting up to speed with my first Mac and loving it so far.  I hope this is in the right place as I could not find a community for Mail.
I have my Mail account synced with my Gmail account and everything works fine on the Mac.   However, I am noticing that during the day, when I respond to e-mails from my PC at work using Gmail, I am not seeing those responses back on my Mac when I open Mail.  Come to think of it, I also have a draft email on my Mac that is not appearing in Gmail drafts folder.  Can someone enlighten me?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Trouble with Gmail on Mail 5.3

I haven't been able to get Mail to work properly on my computer. I've been through all the different options and all, even took it to the Genius Bar today and no luck.
For some reason the outgoing mail works but there seems to be a problem with the incoming. The error message I get says "Mail was unable to open this mailbox on the server imap.gmail.com" "The server returned the rror: Systerm error (failure)"
Two step varification is off on my Gmail account and the username/password are both correct. Both Imap and POP are enabled.
Has this problem been seen before? I'm clueless and so was the guy trying to help me today at the Apple store.
    Thanks,

It's a known issue Google is working on:
'imap.gmail.com is not responding' error when retrieving mail via IMAP, mobile device, or tablet
We are aware of an issue where users are receiving an error that '"imap.gmail.com" is not responding' when using IMAP on their computers, mobile devices, or tablets. We are currently working on resolving this issue.
In the meantime, you can sign in to Gmail through a web browser. For Android and iOS users, you can also download the Gmail application in the interim.

  • Mail inbox messages disappear with gmail IMAP

I've just set up an IMAP connection to my gmail account in Mail and after reading a message in my inbox, the message disappears from my inbox and I can only find the email in All Mail.
Looking in gmail, the gmail inbox still contains all of the emails that should be in it, so I know that gmail isn't filtering or archiving read emails. Additionally, on my phone my inbox shows properly so I know that my problem lies with Mail itself.
I have deleted all my rules from Mail, so I know no filtering is going on at the Mail level either.
If anybody could please help me out...
    Thanks,
    Shawn

    Reappears on restart of Mail.
No rules set for this in preferenes.
No check box rules in Preferences seem to apply.
Others on web report same problem.
iPhone receives and shows incomeing mail for this box fine.
It happened upon resetting incoming SSL port per instructions from Web email Server firm.
This complaint in reported around the mac sites from Mail at least v. 2.5 on. Isn't anyone at Apple working on the problem??

  • Trouble with gmail account in mail/tiger-send but not receive

Trying to remote support this retired individual.
She has an iMac/Tiger I setup for her several years ago.
Original setup was with Comcast as her ISP using Mail. This worked fine.
Moved to California and her family set up an IMAP gmail account with ISP(unknown as of this writing)
Account worked fine for the past 5 months
On March 22nd her ability to receive email stopped. She can still send
She has done multiple full system shutdowns and restarts
At this writing Connection Doctor is all green
Checked port. Was set to 25 and I changed it to 587. No joy
Went to Keychain and ditched any reference to Comcast on the assumption Mail was pulling the wrong information
    Still no joy.
Fixing permissions now but I am wondering what else to suggest
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Michael,
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup),  it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

  • Trouble with gmail

I have a Palm Treo 750 from AT&T.  This is a Windows Mobile 6.0 device, not a Palm OS device.  I can access the Gmail webmail site from my phone, but I cannot install the Gmail software applications.  (I also cannot install the Google maps software application).  The Gmail site sends me a text message and I can click on the link to install a file.  However, I cannot find a Gmail icon to access the application(s).   How do I fix this problem?
Post relates to: Treo 750 (AT&T)

The "Gmail application" is Java based and Palm's Window Mobile phone do not have JREs on them that can handle the application. Instead, you can sync a Gmail account just like any other by setting it up for either POP or IMAP access via Pocket Outlook on your phone. Follow the instructions at: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
Regarding Google Maps, the easiest way to install the application on your phone is to visit this website using Internet Explorer on your phone:   google.com/gmm

  • Since updating my adobe flash player I am having trouble with gmail, google, hotmail, etc.

Since updating my adobe flash player a couple of days ago some of my web pates are acting strangely. One that is not a big deal, but is strange is that my the google logo is missing from the main google search page. Another is that I cannot login to hotmail at all. I just get a blank screen. When I check my gmail account I can only use the basic html page. When I go to the adobe flash test page it says that everything is working fine. I have the latest firefox. Is there a web page where I can go to check my current firefox to make sure it's working?

If you are not the administrator of this computer, you need the administrator to do this..

    Running Mac?
make sure itunes isn't updating your ipod, but DO NOT EJECT it!
    Run disk utility,
once opened, on left hand side click on ipod then click VERIFY.
it should tell you there is an error found, click repair, it should sort it out.
let me know how u get on!

  • Hotmail not working on Nokia Messaging

    Hello,
My Hotmail account has stopped working on my Nokia E63's Nokia Messaging.  My Gmail account works there without any problems but I stopped receiving new messages on Hotmail.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nokia Messaging, deleting and readding my Hotmail account but nothing seems to work.
Is there a problem with Hotmail's servers?
    Thank you.

    Sorry mate its not working,
I went in and didnt select Hotmail and selected a Custom Option,
But a bogus Email addy in and changed all the details POP details etc
Setup the account, Actived and downloaded my messaged,
Its not working on a Push service no more tho,
I have sent a number of test emails to the account and i only recive them when i go to send and recive,
A few days before hand checking my emails manuly this is what Nokia sent me:
    Dear Nokia Messaging customer,
Recently, our email service has been unable to connect to your email service provider, preventing email delivery to your phone.
This may occur due to one of the following reasons:
    1. Through your service provider, you have changed the email password of your email address. If so, you must update your Nokia Messaging service account with your new password. Email messages will then be delivered to your phone.
    2. The server for your email address is down. For more information, contact your service provider.
    3. You might have inadvertently changed a setting in your Nokia Messaging service account. Log in to your Nokia Messaging account on the website ******** NOKIA EMAIL ACCOUNT LINK******** to determine whether your information needs to be updated.
    Sincerely,
    The Nokia Messaging Team

  • Nokia Messaging Accessing CompuServe Email

I've added a few email addresses to my Nokia Messaging account with no problem
including Gmail, AOL & Yahoo mail accounts.
However, when I try to add my CompuServe email address using domain Compuserve.com
I get an error, "Unable to connect to the server. Please try again later".
It also doesn't give me an opportunity to set specific parameters for the Incoming & Outgoing server as
    another email address did.
Over the summer AOL converted CompuServe Classic email addresses to their AOL email system which
allows access with POP3 or IMAP. I have been able to access my CompuServe email via POP3 with
several email clients with no problem.
Has anyone tried to been able to set-up a CompuServe email address with Nokia Messaging?
If you have I would appreciate hearing about your experience.
    Mark

did you ever figure this out? This is a really annoying issue and you'd figure you could delete them.

  • Nokia Messaging 1.2.2 has been released!

A new Nokia Messaging release (version 1.2.2) became available on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010.  Please go to http://email.nokia.com on your device to download the latest version of the client.  Note, if you are using the multiprotocol (built-in) client, no update is needed (E52, E55, E72, E75, 6710, 6730, N86 8MP).
Here are the highlights of this release:
    Automatic consolidation of multiple accounts:
Nokia Messaging will automatically consolidate accounts when the user adds an email address that belongs to another Nokia Messaging account. In previous releases, the user would be rejected when adding a new email address to the Nokia Messaging account during setup. Now, the user may continue to setup their account and the new email address will be added to the account being configured.
    Password handling simplification:
This release of Nokia Messaging now always aligns the Nokia Messaging password with the Email Service Provider (ESP) password. Users can now simply enter either their Nokia Messaging password or their current ESP password during authentication. If the authentication succeeds and their Nokia Messaging password is different from the ESP password, the account will be updated and the current ESP password will become the Nokia Messaging account password.  If users forget the ESP password, they must go to the ESP to retrieve it. As such, the Nokia Messaging web site (email.nokia.com) no longer includes a Forgot Password function.
    On-device email retention:
The device now retains 30 days of emails or up to 100 emails (whichever comes first). Also, the Sent Items and Draft folders as well as the subfolders retain 30 days of emails or up to 50 emails (whichever comes first).
    Destination feature available on the Nokia S60 5.0 touch devices (X6, N97, N97 mini, 5800, 5530 and 5230):
Nokia Messaging can now automatically switch to WiFi internet access when it is available. Using the device’s Destinations feature, users simply add their favorite WiFi access points to the Internet Destination (or any other Destination that they configure), and Nokia Messaging will automatically switch to it when it is available. Initial setup must still be done with a valid network SIM in the device so that Nokia Messaging can validate the user’s service eligibility. With the new Tools menu item Access point, users can define a different destination to be used or even specify a fixed APN for special cases when a Destination is not appropriate.

    Dear Nokia people,
I'm new to S60. I bought last week an XM 5800. Wich I'm liking pretty much. However, I think there is room for improvement in email handling. I'm just saying this as a user who knows things could be better.
Here's my case. I want to be able to view my gmail from my cell phone automatically. Wich sounds simple if it can be checked manually whenever I want (making that process automatic). But it isn't.
    I've tried two methods:
    1) Messaging
This creates an account and everything works great if you do it manually. When I try to set it up to get my mail I can either do one of two things under "Automatic Retrieval":
E-mail notifications, wich I'm assuming uses the IDLE funcionality. I've tried this option with both possibilities, "Auto-update" or "Only in home network". This only works when I have that inbox connected wich is a good idea since it's generating traffic (costly) and using connection (worse battery life). Maybe there could be an option, if a user wanted it, to keep the connection opened even if the program gets closed, wich would make good use of IDLE and not being annoyed by the warning about exiting the app and closing connection.
E-mail retrieval, this function seems to work, for about 1500 messages, then the phone becomes reaaaaaaaaaaaaally slow. This function should have some more options like retrieving only a certain number of mails AND only that certain number. What I'm saying here is that the phone should only handle for instance the last 50 mails and drop the rest, so if I have 50 mails and a new one arrives, the last one doesn't appear anymore (on the server yes, on the phone no). This would make the application run really smoothly and the phone would not freeze.
Even if this idea doesn't get implemented, at least make the option of Number of mails to be retrieved configurable under this mode, wich under this mode is ALL.
    2) MfE
With MfE, I'm able to sync my calendar, nice. And, even if on the google sync site it says the don't suppor the email sync, it works with my mail. So I set up MfE to every 15 minutes to get my mail. This is the option I'm using right now because I don't have to be constantly updating my inbox or leave the connection opened.
The catch is that for this method to work, you have to forget about dividing mails into different carpets with filters in Gmail, I had to eliminate the "skip inbox" setting in the filters that worked with the mail I wanted to receive on my XM 5800. But I guess is a good solution until I find another.
So, in conclusion. It would be very nice to be able to set an IMAP account, like gmail to automatically (every certain amount of time) retrieve a certain number of mails and to keep the inbox with that quantity. Or, at least be able to configure how many mails the inbox should retrieve.
I hope this helps. If this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize and please direct me to where this should go.
    Cheers from Chile

  • Uninstall Nokia Messaging Client

I want to uninstall the new Messaging client (has aicon) from my phone (and also the setup app) but don't want to uninstall the built-in Epoc client by mistake.
I have 3 installed files showing in Application Manager:
    1. Nokia Email 10.02(4)
    2. Ovi Mail Extensions 1.05(65)
    3. Ovi Mail Setup 1.05(65)
    I'd guess that I uninstall 2. and 3. but leave 1.
    Is that right?

Nokia Email 10.02(4) is the Nokia Messaging client with the @ icon.
