Nokia Micro SD 8GB card

A week ago I bought Nokia N81-3 because Nokia N81 8GB
wasn't availabe at Nokia dealers here. And to increase
the storage capacity of the phone I bought a Nokia Micro SD
8GB memory card.
My question is this, which method is better for the phone,
to insert an 8GB memory card or smaller card e.g. 4GB card.
Thanks for your answer.
Fattan

Better in which way?
8GB means 200% capacity counter 4GB
imho there can be one problem - if your phone (fw) supports SDHC cards, coz I've still never seen 8GB SD..
But why are you asking when you already bought it?

  • Micro SDHC 8GB card

I have this card and I put it in my Blackberry Pearl (8100) and the phone does not recognize it. In advanced setting under media card, I have it "on" but it says no media card present. Anyone have any ideas why?

I haven't use any 4 GB microSDHC in my handheld but from different forum I've learned that micro SDHC will work in BB. But officially following are the details on memory supported by BlackBerry -
Max. Media Support depends on the version of device OS that you're using.
BlackBerry Device Software                         Media Card Size Limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0                         Up to 2GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1                         Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2                         Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0                         Up to 8GB
    All are microSD.

  • Nokia 5610 XM MicroSD Card formatted in pc not wor...

Hi, My 1GB Nokia Micro SD memory card, that came along with Nokia 5610 XM, was corrupted and had no way to fix/remedy/avert the situation unless format the memory. I wasn't able to check if there was indeed a format option in my phone before formatting the microSD memory card via my computer. I formatted the Micro SD in FAT format and had it checked if my phone can detect it, but it read as "Media Player Sync Files" and it was only a folder and not as a memory icon. I also did FAT32 conversion and result was the same.I checked for format options in my phone but there was none.
I searched the internet for answers or clues as to how can I fix the problem and make my phone function back to normal with its memory card, to no avail I found no answers including here. A forum mentioned that I needed to recover back a file from Nokia that will allow the unit to read the memory card. I don't know what that is.
I hope there will be any "detailed help" provided from anyone who knows how to deal with the issue. Thank you.

Thanks to all should anyone else add information regarding my query.
I found the solution the same day I was having been bothered by it. I happen to have formatted the memory card via a card reader thru my pc. My mobile phone detected it as "Media Player Sync files" and it has 0kb even when it is refilled with mp3s. There isn't any problem with the memory card, but the problem was I did not include a name on the Volume Label found during formatting the memory card.
I reinserted the memory card into my card reader and had it formatted, this time with a Volume Label "Memory Card" (compression is FAT, I heard FAT32 is also okay), then I had the mobile phone read the memory card and was able to detect it as "MEMORY CARD" and used its formatting function to formally format the memory card in Nokia's legal grounds. It is now back to normal.

  • Where is Micro SD Memory Card? Nokia 6500 slide

    Hi guys,
    I need some help please.
I bought Nokia 6500 slide today and on the box says that it contains:
    Nokia 6500 slide
    Nokia Battery BP-5M
    Nokia Charger AC-4
    Nokia Wired Stereo Headset HS-47
Nokia 256 MB Micro SD Memory Card MU-27
    Nokia Mirco USB Cable CA-101
    Nokia TV-Out Cable CA-92U
    CD ROM
    User guide
Everything is there except Micro SD Card. Is it somewhere inserted in the phone or it should be in the box? I am confused. I am worried because I don't think they sold me brand new item as I think box was open before they brought it to me.

    Hi,
Remove the back cover and you will notice next to the camera lens a silver plate. The memory card should be in there. By holding the phone so that the camera lens is at the top and the battery is facing downwards, you can put ur fingernail carefully at the top of the silver plate where there is an indentation and slide the cover down without removing the battery. You can then remove the memory card once you manage to get the silver plate to pop upright..
    Hope this helps.
To insert ur sim card, you need to remover the battery. The sim card compartment is just below the memory card slot. When you need to get the sim card out, use the little metal slider beside the memory card slot to push the sim card out of the slot.
    Mojo!

  • Password Nokia Micro SD

    Hello Nokia Community,
I'm having trouble with my Nokia Micro SD card. I forgot the password to access it. If I try to format it, a password requirement pops out. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks.

    @Fingolfin
If data valuable to you it might be worth enquiring at local mobile phone repairers, as add-on to ATF Nitro SD reader enables you to crack (brute force) passwords on Micro SD memory cards without losing the data on the card.
Happy to have helped forum with a Support Ratio = 42.5

  • Micro SD 8GB Class 6

My macbook can't read the micro sd 8gb, why ?
but micro sd 2gb is ok, only can't read 8gb......

what reader are you trying to use? I think it has to be SDHC compatible. if not, it won't see the card. anything over 4gb is SDHC.

  • Formatting MicroSD card in Disk Utility-8GB card now showing as only 200MB!

    Hi Guys
I want to give my sd card to a friend and so I tried to secure erase the data in disk utility and somehow managed to turn an 8gb card into a 200mb one while trying to format it to FAT format. This has happened to two 8gb cards from different manufacturers.
I tried to delete the partition and reformat the card to no avail. Even tried the solution here with no luck -

I have extracted the log from disk utility when this happened (below) if that can give any clues

That's probably not the best partition scheme for a FAT volume format. In the Partition tab set "1 Partition", then click the "Options" button and select "Master Boot Record".

I think that the device is so new that you will definitely have a challenge finding one at the moment.
IF nokia care is around you, they MIGHT have one...but still, I think that IF they even have the shells, it will probably be a set which would include having to change the entire shell.
    its just too new.

  • Why Does My 8GB card have a larger capacity than my 16GB card?

i have a SanDisk Ultra 8GB card with 15MB/s transfer that i've been using for a while. My family is going to europe, so i went out today and bought 2 - SanDisk Ultra Plus 16GB cards with 48 MB/s transfer. The empty 16 GB card says i have 1412 photos to shoot before full, the 8GB card says i have 1694 photos to shoot before full. Doesn't make sense to me. I am using them in a Casio Exilim EX-Z1000 in case that makes a difference. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick proble

As my title says, does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick problems?
Some claims that Creative fixed this issue, and some claims that it still exists, does some of you have experienced problems with the ZMP?

Since there is no definiti've answer from Creative regarding this issue, I plan in the interim to keep my headphones plugged in as much as possible. My long term solution is to purchase (for approx $5.00) a 3.5 mm male/female headphone jack and use it as the sacrificial phone jack. This way I can remove my phones as much as I like. I am not going to take the chance. I think the long term solution is the way to go even if they fixed this problem. Over time the phone jack is going to loose some connectivity due to repetiti've use. This in turn creates an annoying audible noise picked up by your headphones. Just a thought.
