Nokia multimedia player

when trying to convert video files so i can watch em on my n95 the video converter gets stuck about 3/4 ways never completes....any suggestions?

What video application are you using?
I recommend going to get a copy of SUPER from http://www.erightsoft.net. This is a great video conversion tool that is free and can read and output from/to many different file formats.
Recommended settings for the N95 are as follows...
Output container: MP4
Output video codec: H.264/AVC
Output audio codec: AAC
Video Scale size: 320x240
Aspect: Choose the aspect the original video is in
Frames per second: 25
Bitrate: 240kbps
Sampling frequency: 48000
Channels: 2
Audio bitrate: 96kbps
That gives optimal viewing qaulity versus managable file sizes at about 150mb per hour of video.
Feel free to take the settings lower if you wish but avoid taking them higher as the quality gains will be lost on the N95 and will waste storage space...unless you intend to use the TV output cable in which case you would get away with increasing the resolution to 640x480.
Video encoding takes a while so you will need to be patient...also the progress bar lies terribly, it will stay at something like 1% done during the entire process and then just finish the encoding!Message Edited by keffa on 06-May-200701:45 AM

  • Nokia Multimedia Player does not show video in 3gp...

PC Suite 6.85.14.1 - latest Windows Vista When trying to play 3gp files recorded by Nokia N70, Nokia Multimedia Player only shows green video screen with moving vertical stripes, but not actual video image. Sound is played normally. I tried alternative player (VideoLAN VLC) and latter displays video without problems (unfortunately this player does not support 3gp sound so I would appreciate either correction of this problem or indication of good player supporting 3gp).

  • PC Suite v.7 missing Nokia Multimedia Player

I've upgraded from PC Suite v.6.86.9.3 til 7.0.7.0, based upon a message from PC Suite that an upgrade was available. It's on a Vista machine (Ultimate, fully updated), and the phone model is 6300.
No problems connecting (via USB) - but where is my 'Nokia Multimedia Player', so that I can play back my voice recordings (in the amr-format)?
I've read in a previous User Manual, that that application (plus Image Store, and Nokia Music Manager) are not included in "Nokia PC Suite Starter Edition". But how did I (possibly - I can't see that this is the fact anywhere) get to download this 'Starter' edition? I followed normal download procedures (for the English version).
Yes, it seems I can download 'Nokia Multimedia Player' separately (I've found it on the Net, though not on Nokia.com). Or I can play the recordings through 'Media Player Classic', but I'd like to play the recordings directly when connected, rather than having to transfer the files first.
Possibly I've overlooked an option in one of the now existing applications within PC Suite. So would someone please let me know if they've come up with a solution to playing amr-files within PC Suite v.7.
    Thanks..

Seems that Nokia Multimedia Player was comletely removed from PC Suite install package Is it a mistake or not - who knows? And, BTW, I can't find a download link for separate Nokia MMP on Nokia's site... What's going on?!

  • Nokia Multimedia Player on PC

For some reason the videos I record on my Nokia N70 don't play back on the nokia multimedia software on my PC. There's sound, but the pic is just colourd lines...however if I open said video with either Real Player, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Classic or Quicktime Player everything works fine? Any thoughts anyone? Thanks. Don. On the Nokia multi Media Software all the "Supported File extentions" boxes are checked.

    Hi Brian
I too am having trouble with converting DVr-ms files so that I can play them on the N95. So far very frustrating as it seems there are very little software that supports this format.
I have to say that I have posted a few questions on this forum and the help has been excellent but I have just not managed to get it to work so wanted to share my experiences.
The nokia suite doesn't work as you cannot add such a file to the playlist. I have downloaded SUPER which does allow you to transfer a DVR-ms file to the conversion section but I have yet to find a combination of options that gives the desired effect.
I have managed to convert the file to a 3gp the quality is poor but the file is small.
I have also managed to convert to MP4 but using the H.263 video codec (? think that is what it is called) but not the H.264 one as this produces a file with sound but no picture.
HOWEVER, in both these cases the sound and picture either start out of sync and get worse or and in sync at the start and then after about 30mins about 1-2 secs out. If tried changing the settings but without any luck as the same problem is there to a greater or lesser extent.
I also downloaded PSPVideo9 but couldn't get it to work with the DVR-MS format.
I do not understand how the conversion works to know if there is a problem with the DVR-MS format but wanted to share my experiences.
We cannot be alone in trying to copy dr-ms files to the N95 and it would be great to find a piece of software that did it! I am tempted to try downloading the AVS Video converter, does anyone have any experiences with it?

  • Multimedia Player Error

I installed the 6.86.9.3 version of Nokia PC Suite on my computer running windows XP pro. I have many videos that I took using my N80 Internet Edition phone.
When I try to play the videos with the Nokia Multimedia Player on my computer I see a Green screen alternating with many colorfull patterns in the background and I can hear the sound. If I play the same video with Apple Quick Time player then I can see the video with no problem.
Do you have any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

    Hi GoldenChylde,
Nokia Music is not a virus, as other users have found that sometimes their anti-virus software may cause conflicts (not only with Nokia software but other programs), as the AV program brings up the program as a false positive (i.e. incorrectly detects the program as being an invasive process that is seeking to damage the user's computer through installation/operation etc). Is impossible for all AV programs to have a database that knows to exclude Nokia programs, and the same goes for any other computer program out there.

  • Multimedia player not listing mp3 files

    O wise ones,
I installed the latest pc suite. The Nokia Multimedia Player does not show any .mp3 files. Under 'view/options/formats' many formats are listed but not .mp3.
How to get .mp3 in that list?
    Thanks in advance!

I have reached a very painstaking solution to my problem. I have gone track by track to Audacity and opened these tracks in Audacity. Thereafter I copy and paste into a fresh Audacity file and export as mp3. I dont know how exactly the resulting mp3 file is different from the original, but the new file is picked up by iTunes.
For a tousand tracks I can see a lifetime of misery doing this.
If I go to "get info" by right clicking the original and remake file in Finder, I can see almost identical properties. But in a crucial section "more info" within that get-info dialog box, i can see a lot more fairly ordinary information in the new file, but for the original file, it is strangely compressed and little is visible. So in terms of properties that have changed, I am still blind.
I wish there were a way to batch process all 100 old files that wont get included in iTunes into the new format, after of course knowing what exactly is the change that has happened.

  • Strange behavior in Nokia Multimedia Transfer

    Hi,
I tried to use Nokia Multimedia Transfer as workaround for the missing Podcast in E52. So I subscribed in iTunes to Video and Audio Podcasts.  So I marked the Podcass folder in Device Settings.
    Now the strange things:
    1.    The Audio Player on E52 does show under Playlist "Podcasts", it has the right number of items in this little field left hand beside. But when I go inside it is empty, even after using Options "Refresh Library". But it works in general as these number of items beside the folders, for Podcasts as well, were updated.
When I use the filemanager I find under "Audio File" / "iTunes Playlists" a file Podcast.m3u. Touching it shows the audio podcasts expected. I can play them, but didn't find the real files anywhere.
    2.    The Video transfer is not related to iTunes playlists. Just any video marked will be transferred.(But shown properly in RealPlayer properly and playable from there)
Could anybody help and explain how to transfer properly the audio podcasts so the will be shown and properly playable in E52 audio player?
Is there any option to restrict transfer in NMT to playlists similar to audio files?
    Thx in advance
    cheers

Easy to fix. Simply config it via adding some settings. Any settings will do and it will go away.  Also, get a look at Salling Media Sync. There is a free version and a paid version (I use this one) that performs a bit better than NMT in my opinion. NMT has never really worked correctly. The current version is better though.

  • Nokia Music Player update

Well, unlike a lot of people I succeeded to update the Nokia Ovi Player to Nokia Music Player. The thing is, it's not running anymore. After the update I can't run it. It keeps saying that "The NokiaMusicPlayer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". So, any thoughts? Thanks

Guys, your help is no longer necessary. All of a sudden (after rebooting my PC several times), the system ran a "Multimedia Common..." (or something like that), and after that the Nokia Music Player worked. Important thing: it happened after I go to the Nokia Music Store website. Coincidence or not...good luck!

  • Nokia Music changed to Nokia Ovi Player - Lost 'Co...

    Hi there,
I installed Nokia Music onto my laptop several months ago and activated the free 'comes with music' offer which came with my mobile phone. After a recent update, the application changed to Nokia Ovi player. I am able to sign in with my original details now I have lost the offer. I've tried to re-enter my activation pin and was informed pin is already activated.
How can I get the original offer back?

    Hi,
What I can advise is to completely remove Ovi player again from your computer thru Add/Remove Programs. You need to delete also the Ovi player components: Nokia Multimedia Common Components, PC Connectivity Solution and Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver. Then delete the following folders:
    XP:
    Nokia Ovi Player - C:\Program files\Nokia\Nokia Music
    MPlatform - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Mplatform
    Nokia Data Store - C:\Documents and settings\<<Windows username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store
    Nokia Ovi Player -  C:\Documents and settings\<<Windows username>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Player
     Vista:
     Nokia Ovi Player - C:\Program files\Nokia\Nokia Music
     MPlatform - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Mplatform
Nokia Data Store - C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia Data Store
Nokia Ovi Player -  C:\Users\<<Windows Username>>\AppData\Local\Nokia Ovi Player
Then download the setup file again from the musicstore website(http://musicstore.nokia.com/) and install the Ovi Player.
This is actually the same email that I received from them and it worked for me. Hope it'll work for you too.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia music player won,t load

My nokia music player has stopped working recently and gives the error mesage " Nokia music has encountered a problem and needs to close"  I have tried  downloading the latest software  but still get the same result .  I am using windows Xp and this has worked fine for 10 months. I would be grateful if anyone has a solution to this problem.  Thanks in anticipation.

I'm having a similar problem. Ovi Player reported a new version that transpires to be Nokia Music Player. I downloaded the appropriate software which include Components. Components appeared to install correctly, but the Nokia Music Player installation reports a problem when it is about 20% installed - I cannot use it, and I cannot get back to Ovi Player. I uninstalled Nokia Music Player, removed all the downloads and tried again - I even tried the USA version (I am in UK) and that did the same thing. Not sure how to undo the Components bit and re- install them in case the problem is there. Seems to be a problem in the Nokia Software house at the moment - I could not download two tracks from the Ovi store even though it charged me for them.
Later - I've managed to remove the Nokia Multimedia Common Components and am trying reinstalling them.
Even later - that worked, so I guess there was a problem with the Nokia Multimedia Common Components download and install first time.  I had to remove them both (Components and Music Player) using Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.  I used Search to find all 'Nokia' folders and files, deleted all the ones modified on the day I downloaded them, and started again.  Success.  Except that both Ovi Player and Music Player seem to take forever to sign me in?  Is it relevant that the third download (which was successful) was Louis Armstrong singing "We have all the time in the World"?
